Service was terrible. Took over 30 minutes and had to ask 4 different people for our waters. The busser eventually got them for us and he also later helped us get other items needed. The server only took our order never returned until payment to help at all. Very poor experience food was nothing great lacked a lot of flavor. We went for brunch over the weekend with high hopes, as we have heard great things about the Miami location. The location and decor are great for Luka. In the interior is modern, clean, and bright. The food was pricey but good/ok. The service was friendly but terrible. We were the only table in the restaurant and it was difficult to get the attention of our server. We ended up sitting for about 15 mins after our plates were cleared for our check and our waters were never refilled. I don't think that we will be visiting again. The food was too expensive (albeit tasty) and the service was subpar. I will likely want to spend my money elsewhere. read more

Discovered it by accident one morning when Marian's was overflowing. What a find!!!! Diverse, excellent food and great service. By diverse food I mean that I was pleasantly surprised by the choices on the menu. Luka says it's Colombian and Venezuelan, but it seems much more diverse than that and I have taught in Venezuela and visited Colombia several times. read more

My husband and I were there this past Sunday for brunch. When we got there, another four or five tables got seated at the same time. Our server Carlos came to introduce himself and got the order for our drinks. We got two large lattes, one with vanilla flavor and the other one regular. A few minutes later, another server came to take our order. My husband ordered the Criollo Classic and I got the Luka Rancheros. It took a long while for our food to come out and Carlos came by to apologize and said that the kitchen was behind since the other parties' food went in at the same time. After about 40 minutes of waiting the food finally came out and to our disappointment everything on both our plates was cold. Carlos came by to check how everything was after a while and we told him that although the food had good flavor everything was cold and that we ate it only because we were hungry. He apologized and offered to change our plates. We said no, so he offered coffee on the house. After about 15 minutes the coffee came out and Carlos came by with the receipt and advised us that he had spoken to the manager and all the coffees where on the house. It was disappointing that the manager never came over to our table to see what had happened. Once we saw the receipt we noticed that the gratuity was already added to the check. We usually tip 20%, in this case the server lost tips. To make things worse, 30 minutes after we left the restaurant I started having an allergic reaction (I had not eaten prior to going to the restaurant or afterwards). So this only means their cooks are not careful with food handling. Them not being careful with the food handling, took me to the emergency room with a severe allergic reaction that closed my throat, gave me hives all over my body and took me out of work. I stopped by Monday afternoon to the restaurant and spoke to the manager on duty and told her what had happened to me. She told me that it was weird since they don't have shrimp, I told her you don't have shrimp however you have Octopus. She said I was right and that she would speak to the cooks to make sure they clean good. She advised me the cooks clean every night. I told her it's not just about cleaning, it's about changing gloves, washing hands, not using the same pots etc. I told her they need to be more careful as this could've cost my life. It's unfortunate because although our food took time to come out we where planning on giving the place another chance. Unfortunately, this was our first and last time. I also think it's fair to mention that I posted this review on both Facebook and Google, and those reviews a were taken down. read more

Reviews look AMAZING. Menu has great options. I really want to try this restaurant. Really wish they offered lunch specials. I just called and they only offer the regular menu. I will have to try to plan to go here for dinner one night. In my opinion, these prices are too high for lunch. If they end up offering a lunch special, I will visit more often. I don't think the lunch special has to involve their entire menu but possibly one to five lunch options would entice people into their restaurant at lunchtime. Just my thoughts. read more

Yesssss! So excited for this addition to Plantation! We went with a group and tried so many things and everythinggg was delicious!! The shared meat plate, the luka burger, the picahna, the sweet plantains...yes yes and more yes!! Make sure you save room for dessert...the guava sundae and the chocolate sundae were incredibleee. We were introduced by friends to have dinner here. Very nice and modern place inside. Nice service. We were there to chat and to have dinner so wasn't in a rush. Had drinks, no draft but a nice choice of mix and wine. Thought dinner was fantastic. There are many choices there so maybe you want to do your homework before arriving and then ask them a suggestion which I did of what I was thinking of having. Service was good but it did get busy so reservations might suggest and service slows down slightly. Guess hard to judge of having severs which was a Friday. They had a nice sounding band singer. I try to go there but they refuse to stock low-fat or nonfat milk so I cannot get a beverage with my meal. I would feel odd going in to eat carrying my Starbucks - where I can get every drink on the menu with nonfat milk, including a foam top. Oat and almond milk are available but I don't use those. We decided to go to this establishment due to the ratings. Not impressed with the coffee at all. It's a Cafe...one would expect regular coffee as an option. Much to my dismay they don't serve regular coffee, our server said that the Americana watered down would be the closest...guess what, it's not! I informed our server that the coffee was not close, he took the cup rather abruptly. I ordered the Carne Asada Arepa baked with the garlic sauce on the side no cheese. When asked how I'd like the steak cooked I explicitly stated "Rare". Not sure why their cook/chef mistook that for medium? ‍. I was going to mention something to our server but since I returned the coffee Americana and his attitude I decided not to send it back. I didn't want something bad like spit or meat from the floor to be included in the replacement arepa. All-in-all, the experience at this locations from our server wasn't great, however, the arepa with the exception of being overcooked wasn't too bad. First time trying this restaurant, after being recommended. Food was good, however, the service was some of the worst we've ever experienced. As restaurant owners ourself, we have patience when it comes to the restaurant industry, but this was just unacceptable. We were greeted by the hostess as a party of three and were sat instantly. The hostess then came back to our table a few minutes later and said that our server was backed up and that she would get our drink and appetizers for her. After ordering two juices and one appetizer our server finally came and greeted us. That was the first and last time she ever came to our table at all. We watched our drinks be made. They were sitting at the bar melting and separating because no one would bring them to us. It took us asking if those were our drinks when our appetizer arrived for us to finally receive them. Then, we had no plates or silverware for our appetizer. Had to scramble to find someone to ask for those too. We ordered our meal, which was the large sharing mixed plate. Our third person also ordered a bowl and we had ordered a side of rice and beans. He too never received water, silverware or a small plate when he arrived. The mixed plate had arrived, and again, no sharing plates and no one to ask! We literally both ate our meals off of the wooden board with a butter knife. After about 30 minutes with absolutely no service, we were asked how we were doing... we were still missing an entree and a side!!! When we reminded the hostess, she nonchalantly said the food had been ready, just not given to us. Very disappointing, because the food was not bad. Once finished, again, we had no one to ask for a bill and had to raise our hands until someone noticed us. Best part, after receiving the bill, 18% service charge already included! Very disappointing because the food was not bad. I had even asked the hostess if our server had left because we had not seen her again. She said she was talking to a manager which is why she couldn't attend to us. The hostess was very sweet, but not a server and had other responsibilities to attend. We were literally left with no server, not one manager ever came to speak to us or apologize for the service we received. We were there for about two and a half hours and watched a bunch of tables sit and leave before us, and we literally finished our entire meal long before our third person had even received his. We were in town to move our son into college so we didn't know where to go but my wife saw Luka's and I quickly checked the yelp reviews and it looked good. I thought it was going to be a coffee breakfast/lunch place, but it's restaurant with a full bar and very cool modern feel. We wanted to a get a drink to celebrate my wife's birthday, but I had to try the coffee first and thankfully we did because I think it was the best cappuccino I have ever had in my life (I have had many and I make them at home). My wife ordered oat milk and I did as well to make it easier for them. The quality of their columbian coffee is ridiculously amazing (we bought 2 bags to take home). We both order the Columbian style bowls with steak, chorizo, rice, beans and egg which were both excellent. We did get the birthday drinks as well. My Woodford manhattan with the large ice cube was well made and my wife's espresso martini was very good. Our server was attentive and gave good suggestions. Ordered an app, and my food came out about 3 mins after the app. My steak tacos were super chewy to the point I had to spit out the meat. Literally had a pile of chewed meat on my plate. Gross. My son's $25 grilled steak was fatty as well. We took the server's (Francisco) suggestion on this steak but I think the sirloin would have been the better option in this case. Ordered the cappuccino and my son a cookies and cream milk shake. Those were fine. We weren't checked on as he had many other tables. I had asked a woman (hostess) for the check. As I was checking out I was then asked how the meal was. (Kinda late for that now) I told him the steak was super chewy and not my favorite. He said he'd tell the chef. Ok... we were a party of 2 paid a little over $100 and charged 18% gratuity. Wasn't keen on that either. Not sure I'd return. I had a steak cooked medium rare to perfection with a yummy salad and Carlos, the server recommended a plátano side which was also delicious. Let me start by saying this was our first visit to this restaurant that has been in Plantation for the past nine months. We went with some Latin friends who thought it was fabulous. We ordered the red sangria, which was great! Additionally, we decided to have the guacamole appetizer which came with chips, pico de gallo, and Chicharrón. Although it was very tasty, there was not more than one avocado in the guacamole therefore the $17 price tag was a little steep. I ordered the octopus appetizer which came with some potatoes, and some corn and a sauce. I could not get over how salty this entire dish was. I was unable to finish it. My friends Shared with me that they believe the saltiness was from a sauce, but I think everything on the dish was way too salty. My husband had a regular ceviche which he really liked and I tasted and also thought it was delicious. My friend had a bowl with shredded beef, avocado, rice, and something else and she thought it was great. My other friend had something with a fried egg on top and he also thought it was great. we had a dessert that had ice cream on the bottom with a caramel sauce and flan on the top with additional caramel sauce. It was divine! My only concern was the amount of salt in the octopus dish and the cost of the ceviche. Other than that, we had a very lovely evening. read more

Okay so we tried dinner here I said I would try them since I had breakfast already there. I really was being nice since it was a few months after they opened on the first review. But this is not the place to go. Like the real reviews, food is very very average and unseasoned, the service was trash from the lady that was the hostess and the waiter. We were sat down on the right side of the restaurant. A few minutes after we put in drink orders the hostess comes over and ask if we could move over to the left side of the restaurant. Not a problem we couldn't care less. The waiter was still going to be the same. You could tell he wasn't listening but he repeated the order so I figured we are good. We put in all our order since we were already waiting. The appetizer order, both the kids meal and our entree orders. We asked that the appetizer and the kids meals come out the same time. The appetizer comes out and no kids meal. Fine they snack on the appetizer since they were hungry. Finally we see another waiter bringing the kids meal but it was just one. So we asked him where the second one was. He said it would come out. 10 minutes pass both boys are sharing a very small plate of food. Finally we are thinking the second child meal is coming nope it was the lack luster entree we ordered I asked our waiter where is the other child's meal. At this point I'm agitated. He frantically went to go ask the kitchen. Still it took another 10 minutes. The hostess is trash and so are the waiters. Our waiter never came to the table except for the initial order, middle when we were missing the meal and the end when it was time to pay. There's a clear communication and comprehension barrier in this restaurant. Oh btw the alcoholic drinks that they just started serving isn't something I'd boast about when everything else sucks about the restaurant. Hard pass do yourself a favor and skip it. Food and service is trash. Only good thing is ambiance but if you want half way decent service go somewhere else. And yes this place tacks on gratuity I couldn't care less but I think they do this cause even they know their service sucks. read more
