This is a popular restaurant for Bristol & Warren folks. I'm sure some come from further away. Overall, good food. I have several dishes I like to get. Chinese restaurant has its own style. They have the BEST Chinese food in the area - in all of RI - and the service is great, prices are great... we literally order every 1-2 weeks. A lot of food Luke's claims to be a Chinese, American and Polynesian restaurant and it does indeed have a huge menu with a zillion choices. Lots of typical Chinese type dishes like chow mein, chop suey, subgum shrimp, egg foo young, moo goo gai pan, general's tso's chicken, and szechuan chicken. Lots of other quickly recognized Chinese dishes as well, with some of the szechuan dishes being blisteringly hot. What really makes Luke's a bit special are the seafood specials. Every place in Rhode island has fish & chips and Luke's is no exception. I don't know who the hell would go into an Asian restaurant for fish & chips but they are available. Also a fisherman platter, pan seared scallops, shrimp scampi, grilled tuna and mahi mahi and various little necks, crab cakes and clams. Even a shrimp with lobster sauce meal and a rather exotic seafood paradise dish with shrimp, crab and veggies in a tasty oyster sauce. Some really good seafood in a state with lots of really good seafood. For more traditional tastes Luke's offer burgers and fries, some steak and a few chicken dishes, although once again I don't why someone would bother to come in here for a crummy burger. Plenty of appetizers like spare ribs, chicken wings, mozzarella sticks, popcorn shrimp and onion rings are also on the menu. The prices aren't bad for even the most expensive stuff but for a real bargain they have some nice luncheon specials. Nothing really exotic or different but you do get a whole heap of food for only 6 or 7 bucks. Not bad. Luke's does get pretty crowded at times, probably because there really isn't much around this area but also because it gives good food at some pretty reasonable prices. And with a menu that large you are bound to find something good to stuff your belly without cleaning out your wallet. read more

Luke's is my favorite Chinese place, so much so that I'm willing to drive all the way from Providence. I am obsessed with hot and sour soup, and tried it at dozens of other Chinese joints around the state. But nobody comes close to what Luke's has to offer. No "mystery beef" or bland, filler vegetables - it's perfectly spicy and sour and full of fresh ingredients. They also have the best crab rangoons around. Most places serve 20% crab, 80% cream cheese inside....Luke's are stuffed with an overwhelming amount of crab with just the right amount of cream cheese, and a soft, crispy shell. The food is always fast and fresh. I've been dining here since I was in a high chair, and it's really the only place I remember eating out as a little kid. It's because this place is PERFECT for kids...your food is out in no less than 10 minutes, and the food is fun too! We would always share a pupu platter and enjoy crisping our beef teriyaki and wontons on the little fire in the middle. And they would always garnish our sodas and juice with little monkey figurines or umbrellas. They have perfect placemats for coloring, too, and have crayons upon request. I don't mind getting stuck near tables with children here, because they are easily entertained and thus, well behaved. I don't get why others rated Luke's so low. As a college student, I eat Chinese at least every other week, and literally tried every restaurant in the Providence and East Bay area. This is as good as it gets!!! :) read more

I come here probably like twice a month. today i came in with my friend because i needed to get a gift card. we sat at the bar and had drinks which are very good for the price you pay. my favorites here are: general tso chicken, sweet n sour chicken, lo mein low cal entries that are good are the skinless chicken tender and you can get a side of broccoli instead of rice so there is something here for everybody anndddd!!! they do karaoke starting at 9!!! i want to check it out but yeah i love lukes inn. i feel werd when i go to any other place for chinese read more

Luke's Inn is the go-to for Chinese in the East Bay. The environment is modern and family oriented with friendly customer service, which is rare these days. The fried rice has so much flavor, general tso's is always tender, duck sauce is always in the bag and THE BEEF TERIYAKI MARINADE IS SUPERIOR! I would do tricks for the crab rangoons! I love this place! The food and menu are very similar to the old China Royal, for me.. that's awesome. Service on dining room is above average and DJ, our favorite server there, always has the orders correct and timely. He is also friendly and thoughtful. All the staff are friendly and great menu. I wish they did delivery, but I don't mind, that's how much I like the food. But don't take my word for it, try it! This place was a had to try for me because my parents eat here a lot when they started dating back in the day. Well what a huge let down got take out agent home all 3 orders were wrong called they told me I had to drive it back and explain to them. Got there now it's me my father boyfriend and 2 year old. Wanted to try something new in the area and read other reviews. I ordered chicken and broccoli and the chicken was very spongey. Egg roll had barely anything in it. My nephew ordered boneless ribs and beef teriyaki and it was rubbery as well. Lo mein was plain noodles in a bowl of brown liquid. Just moved to the area and tried Luke's. Not a lot of Chinese choices in the area so I guess I kind of had to go with one with an american name. Bad choice. One of the worst I have ever had. Ordered sesame chicken extra spicy and extra crispy. Came soggy with NO spice at all. Worst sauce I have ever had on sesame chicken. You can tell a lot about a place by their sauces. Local Warren and Bristol people rave about this place, but I just don't get it. Gave it three tries and every time the food was inedible. I've gotten take out from here once or twice...it was ok, nothing special. Wasn't especially bad or good I guess. Always found the flavors really boring and very dry, but edible and quick. A friend of mine likes it, which is the only reason I've gotten take out here. Tonight was the first time I had ever eaten inside the restaurant.. I met up with an old friend from high school to grab a bite and have girl talk. So let's talk about what we didn't like. The waitress was rude, and got both our meals wrong. Small things, that shouldn't have happened, or at the very least should've been an easy fix with no drama. I was supposed to get vegetable fried rice, she was supposed to get vegetable free fried rice. If it weren't for the fact that our rice and meals were basically mixed in together, we would've just swapped. I didn't especially care to complain about my lack of veggies, but she really didn't like it--can't blame her, so she asked the waitress to give her the correct item. The waitress was rude, tried to say that she had given her what she ordered, gave us both dirty looks and stomped off into the kitchen. When she returned, the rice was overcooked to the point of being burnt--my friend even burned her tongue on it! Our waitress was nowhere to be found for the rest of the meal, not even giving me a chance to complain about my food being cold. When we received our checks, my friend who had received the "extra" fried rice was charged an additional fee for it. She was never informed that by getting what she wanted instead of the wrong order, she would be charged this fee. When she tried to dispute the item, the waitress said, "Sorry it's policy" and walked away. It gets better. Clearly, neither of us tipped the waitress. Why? Sorry, if you can't be bothered to fix our items, then we can't be bothered to tip you. Hate to come across as rude, but that is the cold hard truth. Why should I PAY you for awful service? It's one thing for our food to be wrong, but it's all in how you handle it. If you are rude and blow us off, then you clearly don't care about your tip. A tip is not required, a tip is for GOOD service. Am I the only one who thinks this way?? At this point in time, just before we were leaving, my friend's cousin shows up to eat there as well. Our waitress was aware of the relation. Her cousin had our same waitress (who also screwed up their order). She was rude to them and COMPLAINED about the fact that neither of us tipped her. Are you kidding me?? Why are you talking about our table's business, with another table? Did you not think that her cousin was not going to call her and tell her how you were rude, screwed up their order, AND complained about us? Not sure why Yelp thinks this place is closed - it is most certainly open. Apparently it's an institution. My in-laws had their rehearsal dinner here all those years ago (maybe even before it was Luke's?) It's a big space, lots of different areas, and has nothing spectacular about it. nice decor, nothing fancy, nice staff, nothing outstanding, very typical Chinese place. the food was MSG-licious. our Peking ravioli (i think that's what they were called) were not at all ravioli-ish. they were just pot sticker type things, thick with the breading doughy cases and flavorful insides. my chop suey/chow mein half-and-half was very very ok. tons of sprouts, which i loved, but also a lot of really msg-tasting salty sauce and limp crispy noodles. decent flavors, nothing exciting, nothing I'd order again. not at all a bad place to go when you're in the mood. if you're really in the mood for really clean, msg-free, bright and fresh fare this may not be the place for you. read more

This is my 'neighborhood bar', I suppose, even though it's just one of many Chinese restaurants in the area. However, it is good at what it does. It does do a hell of a business. I can walk down the street and get take-out, so I've only eaten in once, but they were pretty fast and efficient. It has dining and a bar area. On Friday and Saturday nights, around 9 or 10, it gets packed, and people are 'barring-it-up' there. I've never been able to just go there and drink, but people do. I always see them in there when I go by. But anyway, the food is pretty good. The Singapore Rice Noodle is good with shrimp and chicken. The pork-dough-things (whatever you call them) are good. Good crab rangoon, etc. I will give it 3 instead of 4 stars, though, because I got the General Tso's once and I swear to god that someone had pissed in the sauce. Usually we go to Lee's Restaurant in Riverside for our take-out. But they are on vacation until the end of the month. Vacation! So we tried Luke's. I liken Luke's to Tai Pan in Seekonk. There's a "taste" to the food that is appealing, but you need to like the kind of meat and noodles they use. We did not. We prefer Lees. It's closer to what we grew up with on Long Island and New Jersey. That's not to say Lees is "better". I find Americanized-Chinese takeout a personal experience, more trying to find what you got used to as a kid after your parents found their choice :) read more

Portions are plentiful as you will most likely have leftovers which is always good. Food is always cooked to perfection. Service is fast and you always feel welcomed. Sometimes I'm ashamed that most of the waiters here know me by face and what I order but them I remember how delicious the food is. Service has always been speedy and excellent. In my 3 years of dining here I have never had an issue with the quality of the food or the service. The waitstaff are attentive even on a Friday night when the place is packed. Takeout is always ready quickly and while it can be a bit of a wait to pay for it it's always worth it. I like Luke's inn. It's gotten a little dingy inside over the years but the food is decent. It's a hangout for the locals and their little bar is always full. You will see many Polaroid pictures of customers past on the walls as you come in. There is a local influence on their menu. Chourice chow mein or a New England clam boil. You can get it at Luke's. I dine there a couple times a year and get take out every couple weeks. When ordering they will ask if you want the dinner with white rice or the combo with fried rice and egg roll. Be clear or you may leave with the one you didn't want. Even dining in. Make sure the waitress understands you. I like their general tso's chicken, lemon chicken, orange chicken, sweet and sour chicken... They only use white meat chicken and we like that. They have a tendency to overlook it but they are better about it than Lees or Tai Pan. I will not order white meat chicken there. We get sticky wings, chicken lo mein, egg rolls, pork chow mein, chow mein sandwiches. I think their chow mein has too much soy sauce and ask for a little less. Crab rangoons are not cheesy creamy. More like tofu inside than the standard. I don't like that they use canned green beans and mushrooms in their dishes. Other than that, everything we order is how we like it. I think prices are going rate and reasonable. Portions are good. Very little not to like. read more

I started coming to Luke's Inn 5 years ago when I met my wife as she is from Bristol. When we met, she swore by this place saying they have some of the best chinese in the state. Well she turned me into a regular. The food is delicious, at least every time I have come here, I have no complaints. The sweet and sour chicken combo dinner is my usual plate of choice. Although every now and then when I'm feeling a little crazy I steer away from my usual and get the general tso's chicken. The crab rangoon is pretty good too. The restaurant itself is isn't huge but it's not small either. Dimly lit, but not overboard dark. Perfect for the "Situation" wannabes that wear their sunglasses indoors. The wait staff is hit or miss. I have had pleasant waitresses here and sometimes less than pleasant wait staff. I do have to say the food comes out rather quick after you order, which I'm not sure of that's a good thing or a bad thing lol. One time recently that kind of ticked me off was we get seated and the owners son was our waiter. We order our drinks and I ask for diet coke with lemon on the side. Mind you it's like 3:00 in the afternoon on a weekday so it's pretty dead inside. He comes back like 10 minutes later with our drinks and takes our order. Only thing is he did not bring my lemon. So I remind him and he says he will get it. Well another few minutes go by and no sign of him so I say frig it. I walk over to the bar and get it myself. It's these little things that really ruffle my feathers if you catch my drift. Overall I would say this is your typical Rhode island chinese restaurant with above average food and average wait service. read more

I just ordered a large pork fried rice with extra onions to go. Got home and there is no extra onions and no pork anywhere in the container. Called them up and the woman argues with me that the chef got it right (basically calling me a liar). I have gone to this restaurant for over twenty years and they give me such a hard time over a seven dollar order of friggin pork fried rice. Very Disappointed! I pass this restaurant often and was enticed to visit judging from the amount of cars in the parking lot - mistake. They must rent out parking spaces. Ordered several dishes to share with friends - spare ribs are "deep fried" - along with anything else they can cook in a fryer - chicken wings were served in a thick sauce - looked as if they were stuck in muck! They were served with a double dip of fried rice which was absolutely terrible. Ordered chicken chow mein but never received it - I guess the woks were out of service - i asked the waitress about the chow mein she acted as though she could not understand me. The place was dimly lit so you had to focus on the terrible food and the decor was just as dim. One positive - the fortune cookie - it said I was an honest and understanding person! read more
