It's a little on the pricey side but a very good lobster roll that satisfies that occasional crave. The bread is buttered and lightly toasted. They stuff the lobster meat pretty deep. They also offer several options depending on whether you like more a of Maine or New England style. All in all a very good roll. Service is friendly and fast.

Absolutely worth the hype. I got the lobster roll and it was unreal. Fresh, buttery, perfectly dressed, and packed with lobster. And when I say packed, I mean they were generous generous. Every bite felt like a reward. No skimping, no filler, just sweet lobster goodness on a toasted roll. The kind of food that makes you pause mid bite and smile. If you are in NYC and debating whether it's worth it, it is. Luke's is a must stop and I'd go back in a heartbeat.

Service: awesome. They're super friendly, will explain the menu when asked. Ambiance is great vibes also; smaller locations like this. Tried the sampler of the lobster, crab, and shrimp rolls. Lobster: 9/10, great taste, very buttery; good amount of meat for a 2oz sampler. Great texture. Crab: 10/10, best tasting one of the three, also great taste that isn't over powered by the butter. Good amount of meat. Great texture. Shrimp: 7/10. I think if there was more seasoning this would be a 10/10. For example, a heavier garlic taste; my personal preference for shrimp. The amount of meat is great and the shrimp itself has great texture. Lemonade: 9/10 if you don't like your lemonade too sweet and more tart; 6/10 if you lean more towards a super sweet lemonade.

The staff were nice, and my pick up was ready right away, I was just a little underwhelmed with the food. It was close to being something I liked or would get again but just missed the mark. I love that they are so good about tracking their sustainability, and almost want to pop them up to 4 stars for that, but the roll just left a lot to be desired. The seasoning atop the roll was too cajun style, and didn't realyl work for me, btu the lobster desperately needed some butter or salt to bring its natural sweet, briney flavors to life. Maybe I'll try it again, but at the price point I'm not sure.

I love lobster rolls and this is one my favorite places to get 'em. It aint cheap at 34 bucks per roll and just one is never enough for me. I love how they post the source of todays seafood at the front counter (see pic). I know that my lobster rolls came from "Portland Pier, Maine" today. The quality of the service and the food is always superior. This restaurant has the vibe of a small lobster shack and sometimes there's no guarantee of a seat - in that case we'll just take our food down the block to Union Square. This store is in a prime location with a huge CitiBike docking station right in front.

The roll. The seasoning was perfect.

If I'm in Boston or Maine, I will always get a lobster roll. I typically don't think New York City as a place where you can get a lobster roll. That all changed when I went to Luke's Lobster. The lobster roll was amazing! The bread was soft and warm. The lobster was seasoned very well and there was plenty of it. The service was solid, super nice and helpful. This location is tiny without a lot of seating but there are plenty of parks and places to eat outside if the need arises. Check this place out, you won't regret it!

If you are in New York looking for a great lobster place, Luke's is definitely the best place. This place is small with only few tables. The portion of the lobster rolls were decent.

If it weren't for this mini chain of lobster roll joints in the city, I wouldn't know where to get a quick fix. Lobster rolls feel like a hand food you eat on the go, maybe by the sea or at a picnic, but because of the price point you mostly find them on the menus of nicer sit down restaurants. Luke's comes through with a happy medium solution. If you know anything about the fraught supply chain around the way lobsters are often sourced (which include labor issues and the impact on the environment) you might think twice about eating lobster. If we are to trust that Luke's is keeping their word about working with fisherman to source lobsters in a sustainable way, then choosing Luke's may be the lesser of lobster-eating evils. They do have a B-corp status (a designation that a business is meeting high standards of verified performance) and partner with the Island Institute and Maine Coast Fisherman's Association, and I think that counts for something. I'm only eating lobster a couple of times a year, and try to be intentional with my purchasing choices, so Luke's makes me feel like an ethical consumer. Good job, Luke! As for what you're really reading this review for-- do their lobster rolls taste good? Absolutely. The rolls themselves are fresh, lightly toasted, and buttered. The pieces of lobster are plentiful and fresh. I recently tried their roll that was made in collaboration with the Asian sauce brand, Omsom. The sell was that it's made with mala spice and kewpie mayo, but I couldn't make out the mala spice at all. They really should've gone harder with the spice-- I'd like to think their customers can handle it. This Union Square location is just big enough for a couple of seats and tables inside or outside. But like I said, lobster rolls are meant for eating on the go, just note if you have the appetite of someone like me, you might need to plan for a second meal afterward.

The rolls that if I did eat a whole one I would be sick

I'm so glad I got to give Luke's another try. The wonderful manger and store supervisor really do care about their customers and the quality of their food . I came in today on my lunch break and got the sampler of shrimp, crab , and lobster roll, and their clam chowder which I love. The temperature and flavors were just perfect and you can literally taste the sea (from how fresh it was) with every bite . I really enjoyed it. It's a small cozy restaurant but the love in there is huge, and as stated in my previous review top tier customer service. In life some days we have hiccups, and Luke and his great establishment made sure to make things right . Such a great business, with great workers managers and supervisors. You guys know you definitely have a regular customer now lol.

Lukes is always one of my favorite spots to grab a yummy lobster roll and a hearty cup of soup. I Stopped by for their lobster roll flight which consisted of a 2 oz lemon butter roll, 2 oz spicy honey butter roll, and a 2 oz truffle butter roll. I also had a cup of their Lobster Corn chowder which was heavenly. The union Square location is really small with limited seating inside but I was able to find a seat to enjoy a quick bite to eat because I couldn't wait until I got home. I wanted my soup while it was fresh and hot. Plus, I wasn't in a rush. I love a good loaded lobster roll and Luke's delivers every time. So yummy & buttery! Ig:@Soooomuchfun

I went with my friend on a Sunday night! Not too crowded and the server was really kind. The trio was good, though it was cold (not really warmed at all). But the food came out quickly! There's a little room for seating inside, or it could be nice to take it to the park to eat!

Buns were incredibly good - a close second to a joint in Chicago we ate at last weekend. Succulent meat, plenty of sauce, and just the usual pillowy bun. The edamame didn't seem spicy at first - then my face melted. Still good but a deep burning spiciness to them as advertised. For my entree I got the beef miso ramen, adding corn and an egg. The corn wasn't just a pile of kernels - but a side slice of a cob. Cool presentation. Beef was good and the broth soothed my soul. Top 10 ramen places I've been - well done.

I like that several of the items are naturally gluten free, and some can be made gluten free by request. We decided to go with three breakfast items from the brunch menu: I got the shakshuka, my sister got the Nova Benny, and we got the lemon ricotta pancakes to share. All 3 dishes were great. The shashuka came with grilled ciabatta, perfect for dipping into the sunny side eggs and tomato sauce. My sister loved that the poached eggs and smoked salmon of the Nova Benny came on top of a crispy potato latke. The pancakes were fluffy and the lemon ricotta and lemon zest elevated their flavor. The filling was satisfying and the flavors were well balanced in a way that made it easy to see why it keeps coming up as a favorite. Individual onigiri are priced in the four to six dollar range, which makes ordering a few to try different fillings a low risk decision. The miso soup that came with the combo was comforting and rounded out the meal without feeling like an afterthought. The unagi onigiri in the combo was where I would pump the brakes.
