    Bacon wrapped meatloaf
    Thema D.

It was my first time here. I made a reservation so we had no issue getting seated on a Sunday for brunch. They had a jazz band playing which at times got a little too loud to have conversation. Other than that, I enjoyed them. I ordered a seasonal drink and the Bacon wrapped meatloaf. My meal was excellent. The meatloaf is a bit heavy on the ketchup for the topping. However, that's how my mom made it growing up so I thoroughly enjoyed it. They have a parking lot with like 4 or 5 parks but there is a parking lot behind the shopping center that is a quick walk to the restaurant. And the service was excellent. My friend had several questions and he did his best to answer them all and offer additional information. I'm definitely coming back to try other items.

Was looking for a place with high brunch recommendations and took reservations. Lula's checked the boxes for me. Outdoor seating is an extra bonus and the "some times" rooftop. Upscale menu, without upscale pricing. I had the chicken a waffles, today's waffles were red velvet. Fabulous, nicely prepared, tasted great. Two more pluses: live jazz brunch was there, and Renna, the excellent friendly knowledgeable server.

This was my first time eating at Lula and Sadie's and it was nice! My family didn't really it was jazz Sunday and the music was too loud. We sat quietly for the most part, finished our food, and finally had conversation when the bad finished. My mother said her food wasn't seasoned well, but my uncle and I had the loaded grits + shrimp. It was really good. Service was slow, but maybe they need more people? Either way, overall we had a good time.

I loved the vibe at Lula and Sadie's. We came on Sunday for brunch and enjoyed our time. There was a live band which set the mood too! I was a bit disappointed with my food. My waffles were a bit too hard for my liking and my chicken was bland. My husband did enjoy his food though. I'm not as familiar with the tipping policies in NC, but our gratuity was added to the bill and when I asked the server about this she said no. I ended up tipping twice which I was annoyed by. This put a damper on our experience.

Our server was amazing, the food was fabulous, and the atmosphere impeccable. This should be a must-stop for anyone who likes food and a good time.

Easy to find. Lucky for us the 2 parking spots up front were open otherwise I'm not too sure where the parking is. It wasn't busy and we were greeted quickly. There were so many options to choose from. It's best to come with others so you can sample! The salad was very tasty and filling. My BLT was in fresh toasted bread with just enough bacon. This was my first visit and definitely not my last! Can't wait to try so many other things!

Great southern spot in Durham! They had a band playing on Sunday when we went for brunch but ended at 1 pm. Food was delicious, got the chicken and red velvet waffles. Mac n cheese was comforting and delicious. Bloody Mary was pretty good. Plenty of space for parking in the lot next door. And our server was very attentive!

I was here for a party so it wasn't the normal experience but from what I did experience I will be back. I had fried deviled eggs with crab meat and they were so good.. The staff were amazing in checking in to make sure everything was ok and I sat at the bar which was comfy. I will definitely be back..

10/10 highly recommend - just go! Lol Hubby brought me here for my birthday and they did not disappoint. I've literally dreamed about those lollipop lamb chops. I'd go back just for those. My hubby enjoyed the catfish. Now they know that they were wrong for that $8 mini sweet potato pie but it was good though, lol. They at least could've made it a real slice. The bar area is cute but the garage door does open so be mindful on cooler days.

Classic Margarita & Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em

Had the pleasure of enjoying brunch at this gem of a restaurant, and it did not disappoint! From the moment we walked in, we were greeted with genuine smiles. The hostess was incredibly kind. She asked if it was our first time, walked us through the menu, and highlighted the specials with such enthusiasm that it made us even more excited to try the food. While waiting for our drinks, I soaked in the ambiance... and wow. A complete vibe. The playlist, the décor, the lighting, everything felt sultry, smooth, and relaxing. Perfect for a slow, easy brunch. For drinks, we ordered: 1. "Classic Margarita" which was perfectly balanced and refreshing. 2. "Smoke 'Em If You Got 'Em." The smoked rosemary on the second drink was such a standout touch. Aromatic, strong, and beautifully crafted. For food, we went with the loaded grits: 1. Loaded grits with grilled shrimp 2. Loaded grits with fried boneless chicken Both dishes were amazing, hearty, flavorful, and the kind of comfort food you crave again later. I'd say best grits in town. If I had to note one downside, it is that our drinks took longer than expected and arrived at the same time as our meals instead of beforehand. But everything else was spot on, and the experience overall was wonderful. We will be back!

Our server Imani was amazing, she made our experience very enjoyable! The restaurant interior was very nice and open with a bar, the food was excellent. We had brisket fries as an appetizer they were 10/10, my meal I had catfish, black eyed peas and white cheddar Mac n cheese and it was delicious. The catfish was huge. I also had a smoked apple margarita cocktail, very good. Definitely will comeback when we're in Durham.

Delicious pumpkin cheesecake and white Russian cocktail.

Wow, just wow. The atmosphere was very relaxing and quiet. Great service and waiters were very friendly, responsive, and accurate. They constantly kept our water filled, knew what we needed without having to flag them down. Their cocktails, foods we ordered, were top notch! We thoroughly enjoyed our time here. Highly recommended!

We made a reservation and were seated upon arrival. Our host was Anthony, I think his name was, with a keen interest for ginkgo trees. He was very attentive, friendly and extremely helpful. He took her order and had some good suggestions. I was craving shrimp and grits which was probably the most unique shrimp and grits. I've had ever. Very distinct flavor and still very rich and familiar. The shrimp were large and juicy as well as remained crunchy overall cooked very well. We also had the summer tomato and burata salad which was really refreshing and delicious. My friend ordered the mac and cheese which is a hefty serving size. Definitely a shareable side or a main for one person. Our host came to check on us frequently, our Waters never went empty. Other hosts were also helping check in on us which was nice. The restaurant itself is large. Booth tables available, which made for a cozy environment. We ended the night with some brownie a la mode, which was the perfect dessert to have on a hot summer day. The menu had recently changed so we got to try quite a few new items. We tried the panzanella- sweet corn, red beans, heirloom tomato, patty pan squash, pea tendrills, and a roasted red pepper vinaigrette. This dish was my favorite of the night- small but shareable, entire dish was refreshing and all the flavors and textures went together so well. For dinner I ordered the roasted chicken and the baked mac and cheese with bacon. The roasted chicken was juicy and tasty, and a bit sweet with the bourbon ginger and plum reduction, but the mac and cheese seemed dry and overcooked. We also ordered the buttermilk cheddar biscuits- that taste slightly undercooked (in a good way), so the texture was soft and chewy (and amazing). The honey butter and large maldon salt granules made the biscuits perfect. They were so good we ordered a second order!! I would definitely return to Plum, for both the food and hospitality.

This new East Durham location is a little smaller than the old one, but they kept the brick aesthetic and the same jazz décor; it has great vibes, but it can get a little noisy with large groups. They now have a small parking lot. The new building has charm, although the surrounding area feels industrial and somewhat run-down. One of the restaurant's windows was boarded up, broken glass had spread into the parking-lot entrance, and barbed wire was visible from our table. The chicken is always tangy and moist. I don't know what they put in the breading, but I'm like a moth to a flame to that stuff. The mac and cheese is some of the best in the Triangle. Our server, Lanyah, was a hustler! While there, she had 9 tables, and one of them was a large group of about 10 people. My wife and I each ordered A Classy Hen with a Baby Blueberry and a Peach Apricot Shmear. I liked the Peach Apricot better. My wife got fresh fruit as her side, which was mostly just orange slices. This, unfortunately, is the end of any positives. Because it was just Lanyah, the service was slow, and it appears from our various times coming to Dame's that slow service is the rule, not the exception. Our server said that it was typical to have just a single server, one cook, and a busser--who was not that helpful. Lanyah was still busing some tables and when there was a loud crash that sounded like dishes falling, she ran and checked on it herself. It took her a minute to get us water and then take our order, but it was understandable. She hugged my wife when we were leaving when we told her she deserved better. The cook was doing their best, but it took 48-minutes and 49 seconds to get our order after it was put in...yes, I timed it. One family walked out due to the long wait. There was another male staff member-I'm not sure whether he was the manager, but he spent most of the evening sitting in the bar area. He was not seating people, bringing out orders or drinks, or helping out our overwhelmed server. They were supposed to close at 7:30pm, but we walked out the door at 8:05pm and the large party was still there waiting for their food, with the other man still sitting in the bar. We want to love Dame's, but slow service just overshadows everything else that is positive. Until they hire an appropriate number of staff, we will not be back.

Having been huge fans of North Carolina style BBQ, we were not disappointed. My wife and daughter enjoyed the Pork Plate. By for me, I went with the two meat combo with Pulled pork and brisket. The pulled pork was spot on. It was perfectly smoked and almost melted in my mouth. With a touch of spicy vinegar sauce, I was gone to Carolina in my mind for the rest of the day. The brisket might have been some of the best I've ever had. It had a nice fat layer and was also "melt in your mouth" and juicy. The brisket didn't need any sauce at all. It was that good. The hushpuppies were the star at the table. My family considers themselves to be connoisseurs of hush puppies, and these were ranked in the top five. A respectable ranking from such a discriminating hushpuppy panel. The sides we sampled included collard greens, mac and cheese and BBQ beans. The collards and Mac and cheese were out of this world. I should have ordered a double serving of the collards. However, the beans were a huge disappointment. They were more like a bowl of sub-par chili than BBQ beans.
