Date 5/30/22 Don't ever come here... This was my first time coming to Lulu's as a resident who has been living here for over 30+ years born and raised! Unfortunately tonight was not the night. I decided to come on by on Memorial Day as I heard loud music upstairs playing passing by. I headed home and got ready! I arrived around midnight. There had been two security guards and a lady standing At the bottom of the stairway to get upstairs to lulus. I was checked in from a man of Samoan decent who had grey hair and shaved sides on his head. His hair was dreadlocks tied back into a ponytail dressed in a red uniform. The next security guard was a young samoan man dressed in a red security uniform. He was sitting down at the entrance. .... To explain what I mean by the entrance... the young samoan security guard was sitting at the bottom of the lulu stairs sitting on a chair against the wall. They had a stand setup on the bottom steps with a tip jar and behind the stand was a girl standing there giving out stamps of people who have a verified ID. She was of white decent/brown hair. She was not the issue. She did not do anything or say anything to me. I pull out my ID and show the older Samoan security guard who is standing on the sidewalk at the bottom of lulus verifying ID's. He verified my identification and had let me through. The next step was walking up Lulu's steps. The young Samoan man had been sitting at the bottom of the steps behind the stand with the girl giving out stamps. I walked up the steps to the stand. As I walked up I didn't realize I was in need of a stamp as this was my first time to try out lulus. I was called back. I walked back and gave my hand to the lady and she stamped it. As I received my stamp and proceeded not even half way up those steps. As I walked up I hear the young samoan security guard sitting down say this as I walk up the steps to lulu's "hey you, It's a 10 dollars tip!" I looked back confused as if I could not believe the words that had come out of his mouth. I repeated back to this gentleman I did not have any cash and I turned and started to walk up the steps almost halfway there. The young samoan security guard once again calls me and says... "hey you! Get down here right now! You're not going up there! It's a ten dollars tip!" I look back at him again as I turn and walk up those steps thinking is he serious? I ignore his stupid comment and continued to walk up. The young samoan security then proceeds again with the unwarranted comments saying "hey, you! You better get down here right now! no no no you're not going up there! It's a ten dollars tip!" I walked back to the stand and the young samoan security looked at me with a rude face and said in a aggressive manner "it's ten dollars!" I was in disbelief.... I felt threatened, harassed and embarrassed. It was a feeling of extortion. I got the stamp. I got my ID verified (over 21) Not even half way up the steps and I was being heckled for a 10 dollars tip? As a local of 30+ years born and raised? Regardless that's not the point... Lulu's you need to hire better security guards who don't harass and heckle your guests. I've never been treated like this at any bar/club/concert. I was so disgusted that I immediately walked down the steps. I. felt so uninvited and do not ever want to step back onto those steps as long as that security team and scam is going on. I was really happy to tryout lulus as i see it all the time. Such a nice location with a shit security team. Fire that security team and hire real official people who let locals born and raised of 30+ years in without forcing them to pay tips. This is honestly just a huge lawsuit. I understand it is Memorial Day but please lulus owners please fire this security team. This is a class A action lawsuit waiting to be brought to the forefront. If you are a non resident or someone who is not of samoan decent please check out The district nightclub, Hawaiian Brian's or any other bar then this sh## bar is 10x better. I am a local Hawaiian and they would not let me in without forcibly paying a tip? Last time I recalled tips were supposed to be for gratituity and courteous staff not assholes. Please be advised if you're not a local. As I walked up I saw the tip jar had a decent amount of money filled just to enter. Why should I be shocked. I'm sure I'm not the only one who has received this harassment. When you visit a club/bar you want to feel comfortable and guilt free stepping inside. Lulu's bar and grill gave me the worst feeling ever. Now I will never ever recommended any of the tourist/locals/anyone to visit this place as I actually work in Waikiki a couple blocks down and tourists always ask me where to go LOL. Never again will I think again of Lulu's. Not in daytime, nighttime, or halftime. Thankyou to Lulu's security team for making this an experience I will never forget! You guys rock! read more

Worst service ever. Reserved my spot at the high top Waaaay in advance. When I asked to be moved so I could see the beach they said no. It was told that all of the other seats were for reservations, as if mind didn't matter. After 30 minutes of the seats next to me remaining empty. I asked if I could then scoot over and was again told no again! They brought me my drink relatively quickly. But took forever to get m my appetizer, and never came back to take a entre order. I spent most of my day hiking, planned to really splurge on this meal. As a women traveling alone I was not about to drink a Mai Tai on an empty stomach. I was so uncomfortable I paid my $30 tab for a sipped on drink and a few bites of too spicey buffalo cauliflower bites, then I left... missed the sunset... left hungry. Apparently there is so much bussiness they can just suck and that's okay for them. My family and I had a little stay-cation and decided on Lulu's for breakfast. We initially tried calling to place a telephone order but no answer. So, we simply walked over and ordered in person, which was no inconvenience for us because Lulu's happened to be right next to the hotel we were staying at. The dishes we ended up getting were the dawn patrol, tofu benedict, and stuffed French toast. The dawn patrol - omelette with ham, portuguese sausage, bacon, bell peppers, oninos, mushrooms, and cheese, was large in size but not the most flavorful despite the many ingredients. The homemade corn beef hash that came with it, however, was on point. The tofu benedict came with sauteed spinach, grilled tomato, topped with olives. Not only was it tasty but filling as well. Awesome alternative if you're looking for a light breakfast but one that will still make you full. I wouldn't hesitate to order this dish again. To satisfy my sweet tooth, the stuffed french toast was a great choice - stuffed with pineapple marmalade and cream cheese, then topped with banana, whip cream, and mac nuts. Super delicious! It wasn't overly sweet and it was nice to have different textures in a single bite. Definitely a must try! read more

So glad we tried Loco Moco! The dish is a Hawaii's traditional breakfast. It has rice, meat patty and two sunny side eggs on top. I thought it was too much for breakfast, but I cleared the plate in few minutes! It is pricey but worth the try. I will definitely miss the dish once I leave Hawaii. read more

For drinks, he ordered a corona and I ordered a margarita, which was delicious! When it came to ordering food, I asked our waiter for advice. I told her I was stuck between the stir fry & HAWAIIAN-STYLE MISO BUTTERFISH then asked if she has tried either. She said both are very good but I could not order the Hawaiian-style miso butterfish just anywhere so she suggested I go with that, therefore I did. When she was placing the plate in front of me I immediately knew I would not be disappointed. It smelled so good & tasted AMAZING! The fish fell off the skin nicely, probably due to the butter. Stopped into Lulu's for breakfast, this is what you picture when you think of a beach surf spot hangout with food and drinks. Nice relaxing atmosphere even though there was a lot of people eating here. You'll definitely feel out of place if you come here wearing long pants instead of shorts. Open air type of place, so if you're expecting cold AC... Sorry it's Hawaiian AC. Wooden counter lining the outer perimeter of the restaurant to enjoy the views of the beach. There a lot of wooden tables which seat 8 people, but are used for any amount of patrons. Flat screen TV's adorn the walls so you get views from every seat. Ordered the Deuces Wild: Two Eggs any style, two pancakes, two strips of bacon and corned beef hash. ($12) In Waikiki, this is a good deal for that amount of food. The fresh corned beef hash has enough potatoes in it, you're going to get a good carbo load, along with the two pancakes. Everything was good .. I was so stuffed! Our server was great, very friendly and attentive. She gave us a heads up about the food wait time due to the packed restaurant, it wasn't that bad at all. I really enjoyed Lulus. My bf and I came here for breakfast 2x during our visit to Hawaii. It's usually busy, but we didn't have to wait during either visit. First day I had the eggs, applewood bacon and rice. That was pretty tasty. Simple. The bacon had a sweet cinnamon taste. My bf had the stuffed French toast. He said it was like having dessert for breakfast, not sure if that's a good or bad thing. On our second visit I had the regular French Toast. It was delicious. Our family of four stopped in the morning of Good Friday and snagged the last table. We decided to share two omelettes and a stack of pancakes. Our server was so thoughtful, he split our orders so each of us had half an omelette and a side of corned beef hash instead of having us fuss over the food and divvy up the food ourselves. As the designated food divvy-upper, I was very appreciative of his initiative. The omelettes were very tasty and the corned beef hash was excellent. The pancakes were good, but as soon as we laid eyes on an order of the stuffed french toast, we developed a case of buyer's remorse. This was a great and affordable dining option for our family. LuLu's is located on the 2nd floor (above Starbucks) and is across the street from Waikiki Beach. We decided to meet up with friends here for dinner at 5:30pm, a party of six. They don't take reservations Sat-Mon, but we were told there shouldn't be a wait if we arrived between 5-6pm on a Monday. They were right. A nice long table was available at sunset. The slight problem was that the sun was in our guests eyes for a good 30 mins. In addition, it made for a very warm night. No breeze. I didn't feel A/C or see any fans running. So dress appropriately and bring a hand fan. We relied on Yelp for food suggestions. So, Coconut Shrimp and Loco Moco plates were ordered. I also had the Chicken Quesadilla. The shrimp came out a little on the burnt side. Not as succulent as I had envisioned. The red colored tortillas were used for the quesadillas. That plate was just okay. Nothing to brag about. The kids loved the Loco Moco plates. There's entertainment beginning at 6pm daily. The only problem with that was it was kinda too loud to have a regular conversation. I left with plugged ears and my throat felt like I had strained it the entire time. So, I wouldn't recommend this place if you're trying to catch up with someone you haven't seen for years. The live music was okay, just loud. As for parking, the easiest lot to get into was at the Honolulu Zoo. You have to pay in advance and decided to go with 3-4hrs for $4. LuLu's is located on the second floor of the Park Shore Hotel, where we stayed at for the first several days of our time out there. So, of course, we had to check it out! This place has that "hang loose", festive atmosphere to it! They also have the whole open air, facing the beach thing going to it as well! We requested to sit near the edge where we could have a great view of the beach as we took in our meal and our gracious hostess was happy to oblidge us! The service was here was pretty good! The waitress checked in on us several time during our meal and our drinks never reached the bottom of the glasses! I decided to grab a "bucket" of wings, as I had been craving some wings for a while. Half a bucket for $10, or a full bucket for $15. It doesn't take a math wiz to figure which one is the better deal! The wings were tasty and fairly meaty and left my tummy feeling satisfied. My friend grabbed the pork nachos and wow! was that a MASSIVE portion(see pic)! It took him a while, but he managed to put it away. I managed to grab a few bites and it didnt disappoint as well! Didn't partake of any of the drink specials, but they always seem to have something running! Maybe one day... I liked this place enough that I would certainly recommend it to anyone staying near or in the Park Shore..or hell, even if you're not! Ate here twice for breakfast & visited for a few cocktails one night too. View of beach is awesome & open floor plan makes it feel less crowded but on one visit they sat another group at our table when there were several open tables available. Not 100% opposed to that but it just didn't make sense. The servers were all very cool on our visits and apologetic when I found a piece of steel wool in my breakfast potatoes. Then the group they sat at our table had lipstick on their coffee mugs when served, again the server was apologetic. The dishwasher obviously needs to up his/her game. Plates are packed with food so go hungry or keep that in mind. Be careful on some of the chairs as they were a bit rickety and subject to collapse. The bar is huge and despite the issues above I'd go back still just because of the location and servers and portion sizes. Lost stars due to cleanliness as it's a big deal to me but it's still worth checking out if for nothing else the drinks and view. Don't be alarmed if you get hit up my numerous transients on the street corner as the entire Waikiki scene seems overwhelmed by a growing homeless population. read more

Food: (this review based on breakfast) - for starters, a $4 juice will leave you thirsting for more (see picture) - it's not worth it given the small size. The $3 coffee was saved by the free refills. But breakfast gets better. The Light Breakfast ($8) had two eggs, corned beef hash and one piece of toast - small, but decent. Same goes with the Duece's Wild - two eggs, two pancakes, two bacon, corned beef hash - it may be a better value for hungrier patrons and just as tasty. If you like Denny's or Zippy's, you're going to like breakfast here. 3. Service: the restaurant was about three-quarters full on this particular Sunday morning. Not sure if this is the norm, but our server was hard to get and we found him rarely passing by, even though we were in the middle-ish of the restaurant, one table away from the open windows. I would challenge advocates of tipping wait staff to be served by our waiter and see if they still support the notion of tipping everyone at a minimum of 15%. One hopes that our experience was not normal. 4. Atmosphere: from the neat flight of steps to the second floor restaurant to the wood decor, TVs everywhere, lights (the place must be neat at night) - props go to the decorating team, but the key feature during the day has got to be the view. Choose a seat along the bar-style surface and seats by the open windows to enjoy the view of Kuhio Beach and the people walking by on Kalakaua Avenue down below. 5. Value: 4 stars became 3 based on service. When it comes to breakfast, this is really Denny's or Zippy's with more TVs and a beach view. It's competitive given the other good (and better and more central options on Kalakaua for breakfast; however, this isn't a bad choice. read more

Cool place up on the second floor just across the street from the beach. Beautiful view over looking the ocean in the day light. Nightly entertainment and great food . We had a magnum PI burger,a 1/3 lb burger with guacamole choice of cheese, bacon etc. it was one of the most juicy and tasty I've ever had. We also split the fish & chips which were delicious with a crunchy coating over a flavorful, flaky tender fish. The fries were good too!
