First morning in big bear and found this place. Upon arriving we were immediately greeted. We chose to sit outside and were given menus promptly. They took our drink order fairly quickly. I ordered the veggie omelette a with hash browns. It was delicious! The portions are a good size. My kids had pankcakes and eggs. We stayed in the touristy downtown of Big Bear and on our way back to the great valley below, elected to grab a quick breakfast just outside of town. We decided to visit this wonderful little restaurant on a beautiful autumn Thursday morning. We were one of maybe four other people in the place. It was nice, quiet setting. We could only imagine the place on a weekend or holiday morning. Our experience was what I expected coming from a small family owned place, with real food and real service. The owners live on site and run it as a family. The daughter of the owners (and her little munchkin) was our server this fine morning. Anything we needed, she was right on top it. Food was terrific. After leaving we decided that this would be one of our go-to places when up in the hills of Big Bear. As a footnote, I asked if they had any house made hot sauce and was promptly served a divine, spicy habanero sauce. Good place to stop and have a bite to eat when driving through Big Bear City. I had two sourdough pancakes with the combo option which consists of eggs and four strips of bacon or sausage. Buttermilk pancakes are also available. Be forewarned, the pancakes are very large here. One pancake will probably be enough for the average appetite. Definitely plan on taking the leftovers home. The sourdough pancakes are at least one inch thick and have a strong, fermented tart flavor. The base flavor and aftertaste is very similar to a Chinese white sugar sponge cake, if you are familiar with that. The flavor grows on me but I can see it is not the usual buttermilk pancake. The texture is also much chewier than the usual pancake. I would get these sourdough pancakes again the next time I pass through here. read more

Servers were friendly. We ordered crab omelet. It was very bland. Just imitation crab meat with eggs. No seasoning. We got two orders of biscuits and gravy and biscuits were so hard to use a fork to cut through. Gravy was very bland. Onions must've been on sale because there was no shortage of those in this omelette. So much so, that you really couldn't eat it even if you were OK with giant raw veggies. I've been here many times in the past and the food was always decently priced and mom's home cooking style. When we went this last Sunday the breakfast burrito was so dry and the toast board line burnt. And when we got the bill you would have thought we went to a 5 star restaurant we paid $120 before tip for 3 entrees a bagel with ham and 3 champagnes. I'm not one to complain but man that bill sent me. I was expecting to see like $80 at MOST. The champagne comes from a bottle that cost $4.99 at the store and they charge $14 a glass! And the bagel had a single slice of ham on it and they charged $6 for that ONE slice. I get they're trying to make money but Holy moly. Lesson learned. Came in on a Sunday morning as we headed out of town down the 38. It started to rain and they moved us in from the patio inside with ease when our food was ready. I had my dog with me, but just put him in the car while we ate. I ordered the chicken fried steak with Lumberjack potatoes. Chicken fried steak was smothered in gravy but still crispy underneath, love that. The potatoes were flavorful and soft. Next time I'd probably get crispy hashbrowns. My friend got the corned beef hash and it looked tasty and a solid portion size. We all finished our food in our party of 5. I'd say it was a good experience for all. Table was a tad small for 5 but we made it work. Also noise level was perfect. We could carry on conversation with each other at a normal volume, which was nice. Parking fills up quick but it's not impossible to find a spot. We rolled 5 vehicles deep and were able to find close parking. read more

I had the Lumber Jack Benedict which was really good! Loved their gravy and biscuit. I asked for eggs scrambled soft and logger potatoes which were good BUT would have been even better with bell peppers and onions. I would get this again. I give this a 8.5/10. My bf got Huevos Rancheros and he asked for avocado and mushrooms on the side. He gave this only 6/10 and he said it tasted better with what he added. The sauce was more for chilaquiles. The restaurant is nice really and clean. The workers are very nice especially our server! I wish I got her name SMH! They do have good coffee by the way! read more

We arrived and it was kinda empty, being 12 on a Friday. Serviced quickly, orange juice was fresh squeezed and delicious. Food came fairly quickly and was very good and warm. Went for breakfast here yesterday based on fairly solid reviews. I'm an eggs Benedict fan, and decided on that with a side of fruit. I enjoyed it, but would rather have a thicker slice of ham if they're going to put ham, vs Canadian bacon or ham steak. This ham has the thinness of sliced lunch meat and well, it was just okay. My girlfriends enjoyed theirs too. Basic sausage and eggs....and French toast with strawberries and cream. Service was adequate and in no way did we feel forgotten. A sign posted outside letting people know that it's first come first serve and to get in line back outside, would be helpful. Instead, so many of us walk inside with our entire party, and it's so small only to find out that you have to go stand in line. All in all it was enjoyable, and we'll definitely be back. read more

I went online to see their menu for breakfast (the one that comes up when you Google them), and ordered an omelet over the phone which the menu said would be $7.50. When I got there they told me the total was $20 and that they didn't even have an online menu??? I bit the bullet and paid for my food but came to find out that what they consider an omelet is literally just two scrambled eggs on top of each other. Not only that, but they are completely overcooked. I also asked for mushrooms and onions inside the omelette and they scattered them around on the side.
