    Annie's omelet and hashbrowns

5.24.26 We always hit up lumberjack every memorial day weekend to make sure to get the cornbeef hash... so delicous and that crunchy hash browns hit the spot everytime! At 8:00am no need for long lines in waiting and parking which they recently repaved. Our host is super sweet & friendly, too. And they always do refill coffee, water, and whatever your choice of beverage. Today, instead of cornbeef hash, I got Annie's omelet, and the sausage is not the little ones that are pork links, but kind of like polish sausage style ones. Super yum and subbing bell peppers for mushroom. Anyway, I am hoping that they never change the menus. Also, the restroom has also been redone too. Super awesome cozy and seats enough and ample areas outside that seats up to 4-6ppl and whom may have dog-friendly seating. Definitely be back again! Thanks guys, keep it up!

Hoss. It never disappoints. 3 eggs, hash browns, sourdough toast and a big hamburger patty.

Love this place for breakfast. Had the Hoss. It never disappoints. 3 eggs, hash browns, sourdough toast and a big hamburger patty. Wifey had the lil Joe, one egg, bacon, hash browns and 1/2 of a sourdough waffle. Sourdough waffles are amazing. Service is amazing. They're all very nice and attentive. If it's the weekend prepare to wait for a seat and parking is limited and can be a challenge. Just keep circling.

Service is slooooowww, but the large plate size and flavor made my hangry man baby quite content. The sourdough pancake was delicious, and my basic scrambled eggs and side of avo were good (red salsa is AMAZING), but the chefs kiss was my hubby's "chainsaw and eggs" plate. He has commented at least ten times how much he liked it. Whew, he was hangry so crisis adverted! Service though, very very slow. We had to get up to go get coffee or napkins, but no biggie.

Last girls trip to Big Bear, and my friend raved about the green chilaquiles breakfast from Lumberjack Cafe, so we rolled out of bed early on Saturday and rolled into the cafe at 9:00 am. I spotted corned beef hash on the menu and you know me I couldn't resist! Corned beef hash can be a gamble but this one was a slam dunk with crispy edges, tender center and entirely delicious. My eggs over easy were a tad runny but the hash more than redeemed them. But the real showstopper? The green chilaquiles. The salsa was... unexplainably magical. Bright, zingy, and just different enough to make you wonder if they bottled this stuff in fairy dust. I wish they sold the sauce separately so I could bring a jar home and pretend I made a chef's kiss at home. By the time we finished eating, the restaurant was packed and people were waiting for tables proof that great breakfast travel far and fast. Bottom line: I'd drive back to Big Bear just to eat here again. Breakfast is my jam, and Lumberjack Cafe is now my jam's new best friend. Would I recommend? Absolutely! If you love a solid breakfast lineup, a surprising salsa, and crispy hash, Lumberjack Cafe is your spot.

We came in on a Sunday morning around 10, we didn't have to wait long to be seated. It's very small inside. This place needs better customer service, one of the girls sat us at our table and literally just dumped the utensils and menus on our table without saying a word. Our waitress was great tho, she was very lovely and accommodating, actually communicated with us. The food was good, 8/10 The eggs and hash brown were my fave, they were very buttery (not so healthy I guess) My son got the breakfast burrito and it was huge, he really liked it, but was only able to eat half.

You know how sometimes coffee shops advertise a drink that's supposed to taste like something but really just tastes like a regular latte? That's not the case here. Their flavored coffee actually tastes like what they say it will! The line was all the way out the door when we went, so if you're in a rush this might not be the place unless you order ahead, which you can do. There's plenty of seating both upstairs, downstairs, and outside, and the place had a fun rustic vibe to it.

I returned this summer and let me say that they make a fantastic cup of coffee! This is a very cool, independent coffee shop where locals and tourists like me congregate. From the friendly folks behind the counter to the variety of comfortable seating options, this spot is a welcoming place to sip, eat, hang, play a game, or watch a Bob Ross episode. I'm kind of a coffee purist and really enjoyed their dark roast drip which was rich, dark, and smooth. The do have a full menu of hot and cold drink options which all looked just a tasty. On one of my visits, I ordered their Moonridge Breakfast Sandwich, without cheese. It was delicious and well constructed, with toasted sourdough, thick bacon, egg, lettuce, tomato, some red onion, and a very yummy garlic aoli. They offer packets of hot sauce and other condiments for folks like me who want a bit of heat. I'm not a big pastry person, but their pasty case look really good with a wide variety of options. There are lots of coffee options in Big Bear and I've tried a few. I'll stick with Moonridge Coffee Company for a great cup of coffee and meal. I highly recommend this location and will return.

Then, while waiting for the check, I made the mistake of reading the one-star reviews. Now I *had* to leave one. Yes, the food isn't served at lightning speed. Ours wasn't either. And you know what? It was worth every minute. This is a small, family-run restaurant--not a corporate chain with an army of cooks hidden behind swinging kitchen doors. The breakfast was absolutely delicious, tasted homemade, and arrived hot and fresh. The staff was warm, welcoming, and working incredibly hard. As a bonus, they're genuinely dog-friendly. We were able to enjoy breakfast with our pup on the patio, and they even have a dog menu. That's not just "dogs allowed"--that's a business that goes the extra mile. Somewhere along the way we've confused "not instant" with "bad service." We expect fresh, made-to-order food from small businesses to appear with fast-food timing, then punish them when it doesn't. Patience has become a lost art. If you're in a hurry, there are plenty of drive-thrus. If you want an outstanding breakfast, friendly people, a place that welcomes your dog as warmly as it welcomes you, and food that's worth waiting for, Broadway Cafe is absolutely deserving of its reputation. We'll happily be back.

In response to the owner's reply…read more.. Service isn't just serving food and tasting your food. It's a combination of your logistics and workflow of your organization. Perhaps unorganized in the kitchen or slow in production. This isn't merely just waiting but the fact that your own staff told us different wait times. We did wait. We waited according to your instructions and schedule. We were told many different wait times every time we followed up and asked. The time kept getting longer and longer when there were no other parties waiting but us. First we were told 30mins, then literally minutes later it changed. Then an additional 20mins added. Then, 30. Then we waited, and it changed again. They kept telling us it would be longer and longer. Why would the time go backwards? A small gilled cheese sandwich for an hour? One order. You can ask any business owner or any place outside of your small town that it is a ridiculous wait time for a customer to wait for that long for one small sandwich. Instead of arguing back with your customers, a decent thing to do would have been to apologize and just have accommodated the sandwich just for having us almost an hour of waiting without even getting in. A true business owner wouldn't have responded in how you did. Not only horrible service, but bad ownership practices so I see where it reflects poorly.

Patty greeted us when we came in the door and said we could sit wherever we wanted. She was lovely, very attentive and helpful. Her sister owns the place. She even gave us scads of recommendations for other local places to try and things to do. My husband ordered the chicken parmesan with a side house salad while I got the scallop fettuccine dish and splurged the $3 extra to get their Caesar salad (totally worth it, made in house). Everything is made to order and each dinner came with a board of homemade bread and house made butter for the table. Folks. That bread. Was So Good. Soft and tasty and the parmesan, garlic, parsley butter melted right on it. There was something that didn't hit my palate right on my dish, so Patty offered to get me something else. I decided against that (because the scallops themselves were stellar) but I agreed to some extra Alfredo sauce to mellow out the flavors in the pasta, which worked great! When she learned it was our anniversary, Patty gave us a slice of cheesecake on the house the likes of which I have never tasted before. I don't order cheesecake often, but this was beautifully creamy and sweet. If you want to support local businesses, I highly recommend Jakobe's.
