Anxiously awaited the opening. When they finally did no balloons or signs other than a small Open sign lit in the corner of the front window to let the town know they were ready to roll. The building and interior are beautiful. But the staff should be in plaid shirts like a lumber jack. Salad bar was okay. Strawberry lemonade with strawberry chunks in it were great. Kids menu had a few options. All the food is CORONARY INDUCING! Huge portions with bacon and loaded with grease. Red meat laden menu, few other options.French fries tasted like frozen not fresh cut. This was my second time coming to this restaurant. Both times the food was good, and the staff was friendly. There were a few minor mistakes on our order but it was fixed relatively quickly. Being on the road for some time, I went to use the bathroom and it was absolutely disgusting. It appeared as if it had not been cleaned for a couple of days, and there was excrement on the toilet seat and running down the front of it. I had to leave just to go find another public bathroom that was suitable for public use, which was very inconvenient. I will return again one day to give it another chance, but I hope conditions are better the next time around. read more

Great burgers n chicken steak. People were very friendly. Liked seeing the ESPN lumber sports events on TV. Everything in this wa cool. Lumber house for sure. This place is terrible! My wife and I went there once for breakfast and once for dinner. ( just in case the first visit was a fluke) .They do not know how to cook an egg and my potatoes were RAW! The waitresses were mean, like bad mood, and when I saw how the manager treated his employees it made sense why these poor girls hate their job. For the dinner experience even worse! The waitress took our order wrong, or something because we both got the wrong food, then when they finally got it right, after 45 min, the ribs were burnt and the burger was raw! Negligent management. They have very slick tiles in the bathrooms. The littlest bit of water on the floors make for some slippery footwork. My daughter took a big header on the floor when we walked into the bathroom. It was a big fall that jarred her pretty bad...at first she wasn't sure if she smacked her face on the floor. Luckily she did not but she was still rattled and upset. When she regained her composure we exited the bathroom and passed the managers who were busily counting receipts from the lunch rush. I thought they may want to know about the large puddle of water on the slippery bathroom floor. My simple statement was meet with silence. The grey haired gentleman didn't even stop or look up from his money counting. The older woman next to him also counting receipts was kind enough to acknowledge my words with a quick glance over her readers and then back to business. I walked out the door and thanked them for their concern. Their complete silence and disregard for me, my daughter, the wet floor, their customers safety, disgusts me and speaks volumes. I'm very glad my daughter was not injured but had she been I would have run to find the biggest personal injury attorney in the area and sued their asses! Slow service. Food was okay to average. I am vegetarian but the rest of my family eats meat. I got fruit. I thought you couldn't mess up fruit. Fruit was awful. How do you mess up fruit? Not much to say about this place. I am definitely not coming back. read more

This is just a basic denny's kind of place. But I think Denny's may be better. Stopped here on the way home because the hubby was starving. Prices are decent, atmosphere expected for the type of restaurant it is. My husband got a kick out of the lumberjack action on the TV. Server was ok, not nice, not rude, not exactly happy to be there, just there.... If that makes since. The place is clean and I was happy with that. I ordered a turkey club wrap and a side of cottage cheese and the husband ordered a roast beef sandwhich with fries. He ate his meal, nothing special but was able to curb his hunger. Mine on the other hand was just kind of gross. All I could taste was old bacon grease. And my cottage cheese had a wierd sour taste. DIRTY! French dip had a layer of greasy film across the au jous. Wrappers & food debris on the floor everywhere & stains on the carpet. The bread was old, dry & cracking & the meat was dry & tasted old. The "mixed greens" consisted of the different parts of a head of iceberg lettuce only. Not a recommendation. Went here for lunch and the food was great. Five star even. We had chili and a cobb salad. Both were lumberjack sized portions. The chili was yummerific and came with about a quarter pan of cornbread. Cobb salad was fresh with lotsa goodies. The reason this place gets only three stars, though, is that there are 4, count 'em 4, TV's in the dining area. I have no problem with TV's in a restaurant (in fact, I was hoping they were showing the Giants game) but I do have a problem with 4 large screen TV's in a dining room that show only 3,4,& 5 year old lumberjack and woodsman competitions on a loop. My wife and I stopped in on our way to Eureka. We were sucked in by the exterior of the place, which seems to suggest it's a good place to get a hearty meal. It's not. My wife's fish was mealy and her mashed potatos were simply awful. My scrambled eggs were mushy and hash browns were so-so. The hot chocolate was fine. The TV's kept playing lumberjack competitions which got old quickly. It was the worst place my wife and I have ever tried, and we have traveled a lot and tried many restaurants. This one is the worst. The staff tries their best, but they need some professional training as well. They just need to be more on top of things. We will never go back and we will tell anyone we know who drives through Willits to stay away from there. read more

This is the first time I've been to this restaurant(Willits, Ca.) and the food is really good, our waitress Katelynn did a fantastic job not just with our table but all of her tables she was serving. She had a great attitude with the customers she was serving. They seemed to be short handed at the time but Katelynn had a smile the whole time we were there. I always look at these qualities when I visit restaurants. Katelynn is a great asset to the success of this business. I will be stopping here again next time I come through town. read more

I went to lumberjacks for breakfast and got the biscuit with gravy on it. Mine was cold and my sisters was really salty. I normally don't complain because I feel terrible when I do, but I also didn't want to pay for it and not get what I even wanted. So we took it back, one minute later our server came back and said "We tasted the gravy and it wasn't salty, so I don't know why you complained" I was like are you serious right now??? Great service. We were in town for a Disc golf trip. Big portions, nice wait staff! We ordered a variety of items and they were all good.

Got there after the lunch crowd, about 1:30. There were about 4 tables filled. I waited for about 5 minutes to be seated while at least 2 servers walked past me and said nothing. Ten minutes later, I placed my order. I made no special requests. My food was overcooked and avacado was hard as a rock. I had to ask for my bill. I can't remember the last time I felt so unwelcome and unappreciated as a customer, yet I felt obligated to leave a tip. Terrible! read more

The waitress was excellent . Her name Brenda was and she gave us excellent tips for when we head up to the red woods. I got the Redwoods burger , which is huge ! Enough for 2 or 3. Went back again. Service was slow. The food was awful, except mine which was just cold. ( I passed on the salad because I was honestly too tired from the long day to get up and get it myself..not a fan of that change) My sons burger was burned and no lettuce or tomato, nor was any offered. My daughters mac n cheese was disgusting. I tried it because I thought maybe she was just being picky. The waitress asked how it was..in the midst of telling her it wasn't good..she walked away. That was when we left. Will not be back. That's unfortunate as we really do like to help support all local business owners. But the quality HAS to be there. The staff were prompt, efficient, helpful, and friendly. Food quality was good and we enjoyed our dinner enough to come back for breakfast the next day. Prices are reasonable. The wait was not bad at all. We were immediately seated and our server was there immediately. We are not food snobs, but enjoy our food to be thoroughly cooked with flavour and texture. We both ordered the rib eye for dinner and it was cooked properly and not overly salted as is frequently the case in chain restaurants. It was tasty and neither tough nor extremely tender. The rolls they bring you are HUGE. I had enough left over that I made a sandwich for the next day's lunch. We also had their clam chowder (New England style) and their vegetable soup. The server said it was vegetable only, but it was obvious when I received it that there was meat stock in it. Okay for me (I prefer it that way), but a vegetarian might have a problem with that. But then, this isn't a restaurant for vegetarians in general. The clam chowder was VERY thick. New England style should be thick, but this went a little over the top. Some people will love it that way, I prefer mine less so as I like to sop it up with bread. We came back for breakfast and had the chicken fried steak and a design-your-own omelette. I ordered some of their regular french toast instead of the hashbrowns and the substitution cost was very reasonable. The omelette was well-cooked with the various ingredients tasting fresh with good texture. The french toast was VERY good. Only thing that would have made it better was real maple syrup. The chicken fried steak was well-cooked and moist. The gravy was very thick. Again, almost too thick. It becomes more of a "spread" than a "dipping sauce" when you are trying to sop it up with your toast. For those of you big on soft drinks and ice tea, they bring you refills without prompting. Definitely a plus. There are tv's located throughout the restaurant. The volume was not overly loud, which is great as the louder the tv the louder the restaurant talk level becomes. We were there when the place was about half full or less as we came late at night and early in the morning. The TV programming was interesting as a background and preferable to noisy sporting events, the news, or annoying talk shows - all of which I have seen at other restaurants. We will come back again and will most likely try out one of the other restaurants in this chain. Frankly, Willits needs a chain restaurant like this one. The last time we were here we couldn't find anything but fast food after 9 pm. And I never complain about restaurants that serve breakfast all day. :) read more
