Great service, great food, and great prices are the winning combination for all good diners. Lumpy's delivers all. This place had been bookmarked for quite some time. With a weekday off from work and a hankering for French toast I decided to give them a try. I thought at about 10:30AM during the week the crowd would be at a minimum. Nope. Nice size crowd, but I didn't have to wait for a seat. I had the French toast with scrambled eggs and chicken apple sausage. I was pleased to see in addition to the bacon, sausage, hot link, and linguica meat options, they also offered turkey sausage and chicken apple sausage. There are many breakfast options on the menu including breakfast burritos. The servers are super friendly and the coffee was better than most most diner coffee. A must try. read more

Listen, I know it's a diner. But there are A LOT of diners who change their cooking oil, or don't use it cooking different things. Say, the oil you use for bacon should not be used for onion rings. I get "greasy". But greasy and rancid? That's just gross. The 2 stars are mainly for customer service. To put it bluntly, if Lumpy's will be graded for its staff alone, they'll easily get 4 stars. So please, treat them well because they are your ONLY saving grace. read more

Nice little place and well decorated with the walls painted with their store and parking lot. Very friendly staff and I was greeted immediately. Has a good crown and nicely decorated. Asked for a chili sample and no problem and I'm picky with chili. I also ordered a mushroom Swiss burger. Other people food looks great. I was informed chili is not house made so that wasn't any good. Glad it was a sample. She told me the baked beans are freshly made so I ordered a serving. Bathrooms spotless. Baked beans were damn good and they had a lot of meat. Burger is pretty good too I think it may have been a frozen patty and not a "fresh" burger. Nice place good food and I'll be back. What a cool spot! A fun garage themed restaurant serving up some pretty amazing food! Saturday morning and their pretty busy, we grab a table and start looking over the menu. It's full of all the norms but then the norms are taken up a major level and made into something that could be considered art! Featured on Food Network's Outrageous Foods....they have a few different challenges to try. I honestly had a hard time deciding because I wanted to try it all! Punisher Burrito and The Shocker were my picks and the hubby chose the chicken fried steak omelette. Both arrived pretty fast. I'm instantly stunned at this glorious, monster sized fried burrito of smackin pulled pork that almost had a carnitas flavor which I appreciated! Smothered in salsa verse and sour cream. Hubbies chicken fried steak was seasoned well and had nice size hunks tucked into a country gravy smothered egg blanket. My Shocker was Shock Top beer with OJ and it was actually pretty dam good!! Heard this place was great and known for the chicken & waffles. Decided to give it a try. Arrived at 1:11, ordered my chicken & waffles , but no waffles done after 12. The fried chicken was decent. Kind of dry and very think batter . 6 out of 10. My sunny side up eggs were over cooked w one of them not having yolk. I hate burnt corners and bottom on my eggs... when you mess up eggs it's kind of Clear the level of expertise you're on. The French fries weren't even good since they weren't totally fried. This is a very busy place. The fried foods are good. But the rest not so much. I got a crab melt. It was imitation crab. I tried to keep eating it but it kinda tasted like plastic. I was ok with paying for the crab melt but I wanted to order something else but the waitress never check In with us or asked how the food was so I ate my son's food. Pretty darn good. 2 reasons why I didn't give it a 5 star #1 too many great selections. It was hard for me to make up my mind #2 the girl who was not my waitress took my payment and said she would bring back my change. I had already left the tip on the table for my waitress & my change was only 50cents but I was wanting the change to feed the washing machines in my building. Never got it. What a lovely little diner. We've been coming here for about a year now, on and off, and our little girls (3 and 5 y/o) love it, so it was due for a good review from us. The decor is nice and fun, the servers are so (kid)friendly and the food is good/solid and hits the right spot when we are in the mood for a good diner burger and some fries. There's plenty of options (though maybe too much for some people) and we've never had to wait long. We've been when it's busy and when it's been slow and they're consistent with their food and no matter how busy everyone is always super nice and helpful. We'll be back! read more

Revise- at first the service started terrible- as you can see from my review i posted at first listed below- but then it was saved by a great waitress who gave us new mimosas with way more champagne and delivered a great attitude. She literally saved this from being a bad review. 1st review: Terrible service from the waitress. When I first walked in it was really full the lady immediately welcomed us and was ready to sit us down though we were taking to go. I appreciated their urgency to sit us down and assist us. The name says "diner," set your expectations as such and you're good to go! This place is solid, you get pretty big portions and the food will fill you up. One of our favorite menu items are the fried green beans. Sure way to get the kids to eat some veggies! And their spicy ranch pairs up really nicely with it too. We've gone here for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. We know what to expect and everyone is happy. We're now having to order 2 fried green bean orders since the kids love them so much, and that's fine by us. (I really need to get the recipe and make them at home.) Friday morning. Downtown. Streets look like a scene from Walking Dead. There ain't NOBODY walking the streets. I could have gone to IHOP. I could have gone to Country Waffles. I chose Lumpy's. Reviews are good, so why not? The restaurant is clean. The menu vast. Prices reasonable. Service and quality of food, meh. Had two eggs over easy, sourdough toast, with fruit, cup of coffee. Bro had a waffle. Coffee good. Toast good. Fruit overripe swimming in juice. Eggs covered in oil. Yuck. Waffle. Waitress drops a syrup cup on the floor next to the restroom entrance while talking to her vendor, delivering product. Instead of tossing the cup, she uses it, pouring syrup in it and serving it to a customer. Sorry, there's no 5-second rule at public restaurants. Never coming back here again. There's better places to eat breakfast. read more

Sadly, I normally like Lumpy's in Brentwood, but yesterday in Pittsburg was real bad. We arrived at lunch and the place was busy (expected) but they sat us at the table with a microwave at head height. 1 why do they have a microwave, 2 why do they have it where all the spare waves coming off that thing directly aimed at head height? The server was ok and friendly, she served the food as soon as it same up, but I had to ask for water refills, each item came out sloooooowly (I guess don't ask for separate tabs if you want to eat together), and just about everything was over cooked. So, bigger error on the cooks for a busy busy lunch. My friends ordered the French toast breakfast with scrambled eggs, one with bacon and one with hot links. The one with bacon had a big serving of eggs, and burnt french toast that was dry. The one with the hot link was served a burnt hot link, under done and smaaaall amount of eggs, and burnt french toast. As for myself, I ordered the French dip. I was served last and everyone was half way through their meal before I got mine... How long does a French dip take?! Nevertheless, the fries were hot, so that was a positive (though a rather low bar to reach) but they weren't seasoned. But the worst part was the meat was dry as hell. No ajus was going to save that meat. It was probably 3 oz of thin-ish sliced meat cooked way beyond well done (guessing that's why it took so long). The meat didn't even drape over each other, it literally stood straight on top of each other like beef jerky would. We were running really late for work, so I bucked up and gnawed through it (the bread and ajus made it bearable) but we'll definitely think twice before going to Lumpy's for work meals ever again. The burger was pretty good and had good flavor. I tid like the hot Italian sausage, which is locally made. The area is sort of a downtown feel and it seems like they are trying to attract more visitors to the area. We were here in Pittsburg, CA to visit a old Navy friend and tell sea stories but needed to nosh before we stopped at his home. While cruising this old waterfront city I spied this joint and we said why not! It was packed and just finishing up with the breakfast crowd, but we went for lunch. My lady had a BLT and I the fish sandwich and shared an order of fries. The minus star was for the BLT because the bacon wasn't crisp at all, so basically she had a tomato and lettuce sandwich. Mine however was delicious but fell apart, n prob I ate it as finger food. The fries were spot on, crispy outside and fluffy inside. I would say if we come back through here we'll come again. p.s. If you like Lumpy's Diner you are going to LOVE Lumpy's Diner Express. Located across the street from Jack n the Box int he Anytime Fitness and Subway complex. My husband and son went there for lunch and brought home a bacon burger with garlic cajun fries for me. Our son loved it and even was giving a sticker. For some reason I like the burger at Express a little more than the original. I only wish they served breakfast too, but maybe some day they'll extend their hours. read more

YAY, Pittsburg! We started coming here after we had tried a burger from off of the food truck they had set up for the seafood festival in 2011. The people here are really sweet, the atmosphere gives you plenty to look at and it has always been easy for us to get seated. My fiance is a killer fan of this place he raves about the food here, I personally like the bacon burger that I ordered it was really yummy, but the onion rings were grossly greasy and stale tasting and had a fried fish portion accidentally hashed between. I found it hilarious but He ate it anyway. We told the waitress NICELY that the onion rings were sub-par and we would like like to change them for fries...
