My husband and I ate around 2pm Saturday 12/16/2023 we were extremely disappointed in our brunch meal 1 order was a steak and eggs crispy hash browns and a soft fajita chicken omelette. I ask for steak to be Medium rare . It came back almost WELL done on one side and WELL done on the other with a dried cooked mushroom attached to it??? I didnt order any mushrooms!!I informed the waitress she apologized , I then explained please medium a little pink in side , I explained to the waitress a different way so my communication was clear to the cook , it then came back extremely RARE UNCOOKED .I then had to approach the window to inform the cook HOW to cook a STEAK . My Husband's Omelet egg OVER cooked chicken DRY vegetables hard and big chunks I was So Disappointed the Only good thing on my plate was my eggs over medium was good and the Hash browns cooked well . We normally go to the Brentwood Lumpy's but they were closing at 2pm Pittsburgh closes at 3pm .. Antioch Lumpy's is always hot and delicious. Also our toast was cold and already buttered as if it was sitting . I hope the Owners Contacts us for 43+ dollars and my husband also Tipped the waitress . Not for the Service we received but we over heard her speaking of her young Son. I'm quite sure She could use any extra $$ the expenses of health care is and yourself is expensive . Unfortunately we both decided we will not be returning to the Pittsburgh Lumpy's I hope this reaches the owner. This place had a lot of workers, they all were friendly. This place was also busy, and was recommended by many people on a local Facebook group. My mom told me she loved their eggs Benedict. My husband enjoyed their biscuits and gravy and grits. My son ordered the churro waffles ---which were the BEST WAFFLES I EVERY TRIED (he let me try it). The hot cocoa and whip cream was served in huge mugs and was very yummy. The only reason I am docking a star is because the corned beef hash isn't the homemade/ fresh kind. It is the processed kind and compared to Mimi's who made homemade corned beef hash, it was a let down. Even my daughter ordered the corned beef hash, thinking it would taste like the home made ones, so she didn't finish her breakfast. As a family, we really enjoyed getting out to eat breakfast, as we do not do it often. So, in all we enjoyed going there, and I loved the patriotic shirts the workers wore, but I do need to find a place that makes their corned beef hash from scratch. read more

It's not right that I write reviews for places I've been once and not on places I've been multiple times. It's not showing the love properly. I aim to fix that this cotton pickin moment. I hear there are a few Lumpys Diners but I have only been to the one in Pittsburg so this is about them only. First off, I KNOW the staff works their butts off because this place is always packed. It's a small little joint that can hold maybe 30 people on the inside. When I tell you that I have never been to a place where no matter the day or time EVERY STAFF MEMBER IS AMAZINGLY NICE. Like you can see on their faces sometimes they are tired and have been worn thin from the back and forth or personal issues but when they step to your table, it's like none of that matters to them and then want you to feel at home. Being from the south, that's a great feeling. The food is fast and is always hot and good. Like really good. Me and the wife will go here probably once a month and she gets the exact same thing every stinking time? Why? Because we believe their powdered sugar on their French toast has crack in it because she's addicted to it! (Jk. Don't call the po po or the health dept. the French toast is just good). The burgers, patty melts, steak and eggs, hash, everything is great. We just recently started getting into their milkshakes. I called to place an order for my first one and made the mistake of asking "what flavors you got?" The sweet voice said "ummmm hun..we got over 30... you need me to read 'um all?" I was tempted to say yes to hear her country accent more but said no, ordered a cheesecake peach one and it was friggin Amazeballs. Come to old town Pittsburg and try THIS Lumpys. This diner is very unique because it is a locally owned business. They only have 2 locations. One here and another in Antioch. I'd prefer this diner over Ihop, Denny's or any corporate diners that are mainstream all over the United States. The food here is very delicious. The servings are in large portions! The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming. The interiors have cool murals and it's pretty neat and clean. This place definitely deserve a lot of support from the local community or anyone who is visiting the city of Pittsburg. read more

My wife and I have been here once and it's not bad. It was packed but they were still able to seat us after a 10 minute wait. The food was good, nothing that caught my eyes or anything that had that WOW factor. Everything tasted as it should. The one star removed is for the cleanliness... I was able to see dust almost everywhere on the shelves and other areas around where we were seated... yes, I know we aren't going to dine on the shelves, but it was a lot of old grime and dust right above where we were seated and it wasn't pretty. Another complaint I guess worth mentioning but decided to overlook is the strength of the coffee... it was pretty weak. In my own personal opinion, you can tell a good diner/restaurant immediately by both the strength and taste of the coffee. It wasn't really 5-star worthy... but I'll let that go. Our waitress did her job, no small talk or conversation, just right to business. I forgot whether she was the only waitress there at the time, but no, I think another waitress was also working that morning... so taking the time to have even a short welcoming conversation would have been nice, but that might have been asking for the world. Parking on the street could be a challenge... if it's a busy day, you'll have to park a few blocks away. The place is worth visiting at least once so you can make your own judgement. read more

Went here Saturday morning for a quick family breakfast. I told the lady that we had six and she seemed annoyed that we had six but said she could seat us back to back. I asked if she could just put two tables together in the back she said no. Well needless to say that wasn't too accommodating to have a family breakfast. Flavor was lacking a little so the butter/syrup that came with it was much needed. - 7/10 Italian sausage side - a little too salty for me but past that it had nice flavor. 5/10 Full breakfast with jalapeño bacon - the jalapeño bacon was really tasty. A little spice, not as spicy as the hot link. Nothing special about the Eggs, hash browns and toast. - 8/10 Overall, I appreciate small hole in the walls and would definitely come back here again. My brother and I came here for brunch and were very happy with our experience. I was conflicted as to what to order, trying to choose between the chicken and waffle plate or the chorizo scramble. Came here with a friend and we were both starving- I got the Digger Dave special and my friend got the chicken and waffles. We were both pleased with our orders- the side biscuit was a little dry for me, I think I would've liked the toast more but was so full, it didn't really matter because I could barely eat the biscuit. I like to go for breakfast, although their lunch menu is also good. I enjoyed the fish and chips, but prefer their breakfast menu. The prices are good comparable to other brunch or lunch diners. They give big portions for a good price. If you order by phone, they're almost always fast to make your order, no longer than 20 minutes usually. Service was not good, waited about 5 min for a table 10 min for water and another 10 to get our order taken. I love this place. My husband and I have breakfast here at least three times a month. I usually get one of three things: a breakfast sandwich with scrambled eggs, a hot link, and a side of tater tots (yes, I know the sandwich has hash brown in it... but tater tots are LIFE.
