Cute shop with fun art painted on the walls. I understand it was a packed joint, pre COVID, but it was nearly empty when we arrived. Not complaining, as we brought my 97 year old grandma and communicating in a loud environment can be challenging. The menu is extensive and most everything looked tasty. My husband ordered the Starter Breakfast Quesadilla as an appetizer. It was HUGE and probably could have served as a full mean for 1 or 2 of us. He also ordered "The Punisher Burrito" for his meal, which was a breakfast burrito with pulled pork instead of your typical breakfast meats. He loved it. I had come with the intention of ordering pancakes but went with "The Cure" which was a meal piled up high. The base was hash browns, topped with chicken fried steak, topped with eggs, cheese, a biscuit and then smothered with country gravy. Too much to finish but a valiant effort was made. My grandmother ordered "Lumpy's Caramel Pecan Waffle" and finished every bite. She's ready to go back next week. Besides, I gotta try the pancakes, right? Oh GAWRSH. Lumpy limps along mostly due to it's location and the food desert that is this area. Anyone with even a slight appreciation for what they put into their mouths and tummies is not going to accept the sloppy setup that is Lumpy's. It's really hard to mess up breakfast food, but Lumpy's success in attaining absolutely "meh" food is also it's inherent failure. The customer service is sketch, to say the least and confusing when you come back for another visit and get a totally different level of service. The only thing consistent about this place are inadequate ingredients and the lack of attention to what comes out of this here kitchen. I wanted to find a decent breakfast spot while out with my sister one day but I've since tried Lumpy's two additional times and I'm always dissatisfied. If you're down with the mediocre, stop by. Waited for 25 minutes for a table, sat down and knew exactly what we wanted to order, asked the waitress if I could place my order and she rudely told me I needed to wait because there were two people in front of me. She walked by us 7 times within the time frame we were sitting there. Not sure how hard it is to put an order in and be kind. Over an hour wasted and we walked out. I like this joint a little better than Antioch. Ordered fried chicken with waffles, egg ; Lumpy's french toast, with linguica, over easy eggs and toast. Fried chicken was quite delicious, moist yet super crispy. Waffles we're not too bad either. Husband combined his linguica, egg with toast, it's tasted amazing! French toast was okay. This is a great hole-in-the wall! It's a cute little diner with great decor and good service! The diner itself is really small, and FULL (good sign right?) so there was about a 15 minute wait for a table, which appears pretty standard for this place. We were eated right under the kitchen window, which is probably the only reason this review isn't 4 stars. The staff in the kitchen were loud, bickering a bit and seemed confused about some the orders. I know it is chaotic with so many people in the place but they could have done better. Our server was a doll! She was friendly and made some great recommendations. The menu is pages upon pages so it was a bit difficult for first-timers to chose, but I think we did well. Personally I ordered the "Fricks" (fried pickles) and the Bananas Foster. Prices were ridiculously low. You can't beat the prices here! It took quite a while to actually get our food and it was pretty good but it all came out at different times and the servers seemed to have to direct and remind the kitchen staff about things. Overall it was a pleasant experience and I am really glad we stopped in. In summary: - Wait time for a table: 15 minutes - Wait time for food: 20+ minutes - Decor: Super cute! - Servers: 5 stars! - Food: 4 stars! - Prices: 5 stars! - Kitchen staff: Makes good food; could use some more organization. Horrible experience! Came in one weekend and our server took our order accordingly. I mention one of the order has no cheese. All the food came out decent time, I know how busy can be on the weekend. Apparently, they forgot to remove the cheese on my order so pleasantly inform our server if they can remake another one. She came back to our table to if i requested no cheese. Mind you, I used to work at retail food and normally I let things to go because I understand how it works. Anyway, she moves forward to replace it but after 30 minutes after all my family is done eating which I felt retaliation. Some customer just came in got their food first more than me. Their phone in order customer service SUCKS!!! The way I was treated and length of time for them to handle a simple single breakfast sandwich order was to long but I placed the order while in route there anyway. Waited nearly the entire time for my order (25 min / waited 20min) only to be dispatched and had to leave.... Order wasn't even started at 20 minutes. The 2 lady's behind the counter were unprofessional, very uncompassionate, etc... and left me feeling as if they could care less! Terrible customer service and the place looks run down and dirty! One Friday morning, the boss got the idea to order breakfast burritos for the whole office. I called up Lumpy's and ordered 12 breakfast burritos, half bacon and half sausage. Ok, pick up is in 15. Ten minutes later, I get a request to order 6 more. Ok, no problem. I show up and all of the burritos were hot and ready. They were HUGE, filled with eggs, hashbrowns and meat. Everyone loved them, but were so filled that we all skipped lunch. I still think of these as the ultimate breakfast burritos that will fill you up all day. First time trying it today. Service was bad, I came in there being polite but the lady upfront dressed like a pinup girl had an attitude. It wasn't until the end when I had an attitude as well that she was polite. I seen the cook bring out the order and she let it sit there for about 10 min before handing it to me, mind you she first helped out people that ordered after I got there. We had take-out. Which probably wasn't the best idea for breakfast foods. So I had the caramel walnut waffle which was ok if it hadn't gotten cold on the ride home. They were soggy and dry. I also had the chicken fried steak which ended up soggy also. All in all my first experience was a bad one. Have your food in house! A new breakfast fave for me. If you are in town then definitely try these guys out. We were looking for a good brunch place and this was recommended by Google. Thought we'd give it a shot. Glad we did as the food was really tasty. We ordered the jalapeno burger with bison meat in it, fish and chips another jalapeno burger with chicken meat and a breakfast burrito. Everything tasted great and we all were stuffed, and the prices were awesome as well. My bison burger was only $9.99 fish and chips $7.99 breakfast burrito $7.99. I recently went there with my family to have breakfast First of all I have to say the service was great The place is nice. BUT they nickeled and dime me for any little thing that I asked for but should have gotten in the first place .My daughter and I ordered an enchilada omelette. that only had about 2 tablespoons of enchilada sauce. in it. I had asked them if we could have a little bit extra enchilada sauce because the omelettes did not have what it should have had ,they charged me for a small container of extra enchilada sauce. my granddaughter wanted some ranch for her fries. They brought her a small container, but charge me for that small container. I could go on, but I'm not ,I know times are hard but come on now. When I go to the Mecca down the street and ask for extra enchilada sauce, ranch, or or even extra salsa whatever they bring me with no problem and never charge me for that extra now that's good business .Pittsburg doesn't have very many breakfast places I want to keep my business in Pittsburg hopefully the next time I go there, they won't charge me for the air that I breathe inside the restaurant .Little things like that makes a good restaurant a great restaurant and that's what we need in Pittsburg! read more
