Luna Bistro in Long Beach was such a fun dining experience! Waitress was helpful in answering question we had and offering her personal recommendations. Such a beautiful restaurant with lighting and seating such a cool vibe. We started with some fun cocktails--I had the Cosa Picosa--and then ordered the ceviche appetizer. It was so fresh and flavorful that we seriously couldn't stop eating it! For my main dish, I ordered the Steak Al Sur, which was delicious and packed with flavor. I especially loved the enchilada on the side with the tomatillo salsa--it was so good! The jalapeño garlic butter was a little too garlicky for my personal preference, so I ended up taking most of it off, but the steak was still really flavorful and enjoyable overall. Definitely a fun spot with creative cocktails, fresh food, and lots of great flavors. I'd definitely come back to try more of the menu!
The ambience was a vibe cool & chic. The food was a little hit or miss. We tried the soyrizo & potato flautas, fish & chips, beans and rice, crispy eggplant bites, and chicken wings. The crispy eggplant bites were delish I would definitely order again. Some of the other dishes were good, while a few were a little bland. Unfortunately, the chicken wings were not good at we sent them back. We really tried to make the best of our dining experience, but the service made it difficult. We found ourselves constantly trying to get the servers' attention, and the food took quite a while to come out. It also wasn't very crowded when we arrived, so we weren't sure why everything was moving so slowly. Overall, great ambience, the food was inconsistent and the service definitely needs improvement.
We tried this restaurant when someone else recommended it. It was impressive for the first 10 minutes. We were greeted and seated quickly. A very kind young man came over to take our order for drinks and appetizers. He said our server was very busy but wanted us to get orders in. HE WAS RIGHT! It took about 10 minutes to get our drinks and wings. After that it was all down hill. Our server took another 30 minutes to take our food order AFTER the kind young man had just left from taking our order. The chicken wings, Margarita, and beer were delicious. The dinner was average, I had a chicken sandwich and it was blah, and the fries were warm at best. My friend had spicy shrimp fried rice. The shrimp will go home for tomorrow's breakfast. It took another 30 minutes to have the kind young man ask if we were ready for the bill and a box for the shrimp. 5 minutes later, our server shows up. What's so strange is she was super sweet but so very disconnected from our needs. We said we would return and sit at the bar. It seemed they had better service. But we won't order meals because the $80 would be wasted. It's a chill vibe and had a nice decor. I wouldn't recommend sitting in a booth where the server ignores you.
Decided to try this place on a Thursday evening. The ambience is wonderful, inviting, and perfect for a meal out. While we unfortunately had to leave before the live music started, I learned they host performances every Thursday through Saturday, and I'm already planning to return specifically to catch a show during dinner. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive throughout our visit. As for the food, both dishes we tried were excellent: Steak al Sur: This was a standout. The thin-cut beef flap steak was flavorful, perfectly complemented by the jalapeño-garlic butter and roasted salsa. It also came with a delicious carnitas enchilada verde and a hearty serving of casamiento (black beans and rice). Steak al Norte: Also a great choice, featuring tender beef flap steak topped with a rich garlic cream sauce. It was served with garlic mashed potatoes, herb olive oil, and perfectly sautéed broccolini and seasonal veggies. This was so delicious. I highly recommend checking this place out if you're looking for great food and a welcoming atmosphere. I'll definitely be back!
Came here for my birthday and to check the restaurant out after a friend recommended it, and I'm so glad we did! First, we ordered the ceviche since it's one of their popular dishes. It can be spicy, so if you don't like spice, make sure to ask your server to make it mild or leave the spice out completely. We ordered ours with no spice, and it was very good! My mom and I split a Smashburger, which was more than enough food for me. The burger was delicious, juicy, and moist. The atmosphere here is great! It's fun, lively, and they even have music playing, which really adds to the experience. Since it was my birthday, they brought me a flan with a sparkler. They charge $1 for it, which I'm assuming is for the sparkler, but it was such a nice little birthday touch. I would definitely come back again! One thing to keep in mind is that they fill up pretty quickly, so I recommend getting there early. They also do not take reservations on weekends. Overall, a fun place with great food and a lively atmosphere. Definitely worth checking out!
They're always ready to serve up a satisfying meal in a beautiful setting. We especially love the two outdoor patios, which became our default meeting spot with friends to watch the World Cup games. The servers were always hospitable. The only strike against the restaurant is that the food was only mediocre. It's not bad, but it's certainly no match for the lovely setting.
I met my financial advisor here for happy hour since he recommended it. There's a small parking lot in front of the business and I was fortunate to secure a prime parking space. I arrived before him and grabbed a table around 4 pm on a Friday. I was happy to see that the entire intimate restaurant was open seating for happy hour, and the receptionist sat me at a booth immediately. Tip - If you prefer to dine alfresco there two exterior patios. There's a variety of mix drinks, bottle beer, and house wines discounted during happy hour, and they even offer their specialty drinks at $5.00 off their regular prices. In addition, there's a nice variety of HH food entrees that are served with generous portions We ordered sliders, salmon bites, chorizo nachos, and shrimp ceviche. Everything was yummy and the service from our friendly waiter was spot on. Overall, I really enjoyed my experience here for happy hour and would definitely return here in the future.
Early dinner on a Saturday night. We were lucky to get a parking spot and a table. The place was packed and the music was pumping. Ordered the mango lemonade, which wasn't anything special. Didn't taste the mango at all; just lemonade. Ordered the Eggplant Burger with fries. It was a good size and delicious too. The brioche bun was soft and fresh and the slice of eggplant was generous. We had a great time. Ok, bye.
Another five-star experience! This review is specifically for my experience hosting a large party (25+ guests) on their patio. The manager, Kelli, was incredibly friendly and helpful from start to finish. He created special menus for our event and was so accommodating with our requests to bring a cake, set up a bouquet bar, and decorate the space. The owner, Danny, was as kind as ever and checked in on us throughout the evening to make sure everything was going smoothly. Our server, Karla, was fantastic! Attentive, organized, and did an amazing job taking care of such a large group. As for the food, every single guest had something positive to say. Everyone commented on the generous portions, nice presentation, and incredible quality. Everything came out fresh, flavorful, and consistently delicious. Hosting a party for this many people can be stressful, but the entire team made it effortless. Their hospitality, attention to detail, and outstanding food made the evening truly special. I wouldn't hesitate to host another event here, and I highly recommend them for both a great meal and any special occasion!
My group of friend we to Luna Bistro Cafe last night and wanted to share our experience. We opted to sit on the outside patio as it was a bit loud inside. The Spanish Shrimp and Mussel to start were wonderful but sadly did not get a picture. It goes well with the Guacamole and Chips. The Salmon Al pastor and it had great flavor. I loved the flavor of the blackened honey glaze salmon. The steak tacos were good, a little messy to eat and fell apart but full of good tasting ingredients. The Enchiladas is also delicious. We finished off the meal with the flan. I've never been one that loves flan but I couldn't stop eating it. The berries, nuts and glaze on the plate paired with the flan was delish. I definitely think this is a great spot, such a cool venue and great outdoor space. My only criticism was the service. It was very spotty. I do think they are understaffed but we understand.
The ambiance is nice - makes you feel like you are in Tulum. Plenty of parking .... Lots of seating including outdoor & pet friendly. They were doing their social media postings so lots of filming. Food is good . Happy hour menu is great, along with the lengthy hour 2-5:30!! The service is horrible! It's the second time we've had the same girl and she is slow. When you see your drinks sitting at the bar well for 10 minutes & then need to ask them and still need to wait ... it's also poor service when they bring two of three meals and we wait for the third for 10 more minutes still waiting also for our drinks...... also waiting for our ceviche. The restaurant was not busy nor was it crowded. Usually the waitress ask if you'd like anything else before happy hour ends but ours did not . Don't think this is a go back to place if we do we will ask not have her be our waitress.
This review is for their brunch menu! Came here on a Saturday morning at 11am and it wasn't busy yet which was great because my friend and I got sat right away. The restaurant itself gives off very much Tulum vibes! Very boho with lots of cute greenery plants! Really loved the aesthetics of the place! I ordered the spam and egg fried rice and my friend got the chorizo and egg Benedict. Both plates delicious. Although I would have loved more spam with my fried rice. I'm Filipino and I love spam! lol..Overall I give the food 8/10! Definitely a good spot for a date or a brunch with the gals. Did see multiple groups of girls enjoying a few mimosas here and there! Place had good vibes. Staff were friendly. I would like to come for an evening dinner here and was told that sometimes they have live music! So I'll definitely return.
Food: 9/10 Service: 8/10 Ambiance: 20/10!!! This is a review for their happy hour experience, which was PHENOMENAL. The service was on point. The interior design is immaculate and makes you feel like you're transported to Tulum or another coastal Mexican city. And the food is a tad salty but overall incredible.
Me and one of my girl friends met up for happy hour and I must say I love this spot. This was my first time here and the drinks and service were a 10/10! The fish tacos were my favorite, the shrimp ceviche is really good and the ambiance feels like i'm on vacation. Thank you Brian and John for your great service! This place is amazing. I don't know how, but they did a great job in redecorating this place. It used to be dark and very loud, but now it's bright, cheerful with good sound. Service was very friendly and efficient. The food is outstanding. We had the ceviche which was excellent. We had a bottle of Malbec ($45) - decent price. For entree we had the Pesto pasta and it was too die for. They have live music daily and Happy Hour Monday though Friday. Don't judge it by it's quirky location in a not-so-attractive minimall, once you step inside, its a totally different world. read more

My wife and my girls were here last week. She felt she had to bring me here cause the food was so good so far we got the morning nachos. Can't wait for the rest of our breakfast. Gotta try this place guys. Karla was an amazing server. The bartender made a great banana shaken latte. The cooks were awesome just great atmosphere. First off, let's talk Happy Hour: it runs Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 5:30 PM, and it is absolutely amazing. We're talking generous portions, super fresh ingredients, and a drink menu that doesn't skimp on quality. Whether you're into margaritas, micheladas, or simply some good chips and guac, their Happy Hour menu is where it's at. And prices that won't make your wallet cry. It's honestly one of the best deals in town. Also, if you're not ordering from the HH menu, it's $5 off the starters menu as well! LOVE THAT!! Now, about the food: everything was incredibly fresh, flavorful, and beautifully presented. You can really taste the quality in every bite. From the street tacos to the ceviche, it's clear the kitchen takes pride in their ingredients and preparation. You don't always find that level of care during Happy Hour, but this place goes above and beyond. Only thing is, I'd probably add jalapeños and cream cheese and my nachos.... As far as service, nothing too crazy or rememberable. The host was kinda ehh lol. It was Labor Day and I asked her if they're doing HH and she said yes, it's Monday- Friday. Well, sorry Ms.Thing.. some people don't do HH on holidays. Lastly, the ambiance!! It's got those Tulum vibes, laid-back yet stylish, perfect for a date night, casual catch-up, or just a solo moment of zen with a cold drink in hand. It's proof that you don't have to spend a ton to enjoy quality food, great drinks, and a fun atmosphere. This is definitely the place to show off to friends or loved ones. read more

I wasn't sure if the food would match how beautiful the decor is here, but I was surprisingly impressed. The menu isn't particularly unique or creative, however, the execution of the dishes we had were flawless and everything was delicious. Their signature cocktails are on the sweet side, so I went with their "A Pretty Good Dirty Martini." It was pretty good. I would've preferred a little more olive brine in it though. For my second drink, I tried Christian's Sour, which includes Botanist gin, St. Germaine elderflower, Aperol, lemon, egg white, herbal syrup and aromatic bitters. Loved it! For starters, we got the Eggplant Parmesan Bites ($12), which were lightly battered and fried. Not too greasy and the marinara complemented well. We also got the Favorite Salad ($15) with mixed greens, arugula, candied walnuts, cranberries, green apple, crumbled feta, honey balsamic dressing. It was huge, refreshing and the apple and walnuts gave it a nice crunch. For the main, we went with the Filete Los Cabos Con Camaron ($28): Grilled white fish filet, shrimp, jalapeño-garlic butter, lemon, herbs and sautéed veggies. Everything on this plate was cooked perfectly, veggies were al dente, flaky fish with awesome herbs, garlic and seasoning topped with shrimp, but what really had me dancing in my seat was the jalapeño-garlic butter rice omggg! I'm still thinking about it and will be back for more of it! It wasn't very busy when we went on Sunday evening, so we had to get the servers' attention from the back a couple times. The appetizer came out last, but I didn't mind. Others might though. Nonetheless, I would return with friends to try more of their dishes and enjoy the ambience. read more

Came here to get the shrimp fried rice ($25 dollars) people kept raving about! It was ok IMO but i definitely had better. This placed opened 7 months ago so i decided to check it out! The inside is very pretty with a bar and lots of very nice tables. Staff was nice explaining the menu. They have two locations in long beach and bakersfield, ca. On the broader if i would be back! Food rating Shrimp fried rice 7.0/10. People say its great! I say just average. read more

My fiancé and I tried Luna Bistro Café for the first time and it did not disappoint! Tucked away in the corner of the plaza, it feels like you're stepping into Tulum the moment you walk in, from the stylish décor and lush greenery to the beautiful live music that sets the vibe. The service was wonderful, attentive, welcoming, and made us feel right at home. And the food? Truly chef's kiss! We loved everything we ordered, each dish was full of flavor and beautifully presented. This spot is such a hidden gem in Long Beach. Horrible experience with Luna Bistro + staff. I spoke directly with someone on their team and had a confirmed reservation via text and toast for my son's baptism dinner. Based on that confirmation, I went ahead and spent money printing and sending out invitations to family and friends. Only to later be told they are canceling on me. This is completely unacceptable. You don't confirm a reservation for an important event like this and then back out after the customer has already made real plans and financial commitments. Not only that, but when explaining this to them they do not care nor show any empathy at ALL. That's not just poor service - it's careless and unprofessional. And being told this happened because it's "your busiest day of the year" is not an excuse. If your staff is booking events they shouldn't be, that's a management and training issue -- not the customer's fault. Do not trust this restaurant. They do not prioritize customer satisfaction or keeping keeping their word. It feels like once something more profitable comes along, your reservation no longer matters. Horrible Horrible experience. Customer service goes along way -- this place has none. read more

I've had this spot saved for a while and now I finally got the time to stop by and try it out and I'm so happy that I did first getting into the ambience walking in. It is so beautiful from decor to the colors. It's definitely giving like a Tulum type vibe, which I absolutely love a theme restaurant. The service was impeccable very fast. I waited like five minutes to be seated. If that's everyone was very friendly and very helpful when he came down to choosing what to eat since this was my first time there there you recommended a few things and all the things they recommended was top-notch 10 out of 10 for the food. I did start with the Baja fish tacos, which I was able to get on happy hour for six dollars very filling. The flavor was amazing in the sauce they gave with it just topped it off for my main dish. I end up getting their Mexican shrimp and mussels and let's just say I was absolutely in love every bite made my heart smile. I definitely will order that mail again and I definitely will be back to explore the rest of their menu overall experience 10/10. read more
Great experience in an area that has needed more restaurants for a long time. We all enjoyed what we ordered, and the owner was charming he stopped by our table a few times to be sure everything was to our likening. It was a good thing he did, because the dish I wanted (Spicy Shrimp Fried Rice), our server told us they couldn't make it any other way but "spicy" and he assured me, the Chef would definitely honor that request for me. He did and it was a great dish. We'll definitely be going back here, it was really popular place, with a waiting line to get in without a reservation. A few friends recommended this spot, and I'm glad I finally gave it a try. The décor is beautiful--it really transports you to a tropical paradise. I loved the lush plants and the architectural touches at the bar and throughout the dining area. The drinks were solid, and the food had good flavor and came out fresh. During happy hour, I enjoyed the Baja fish tacos and the shredded pork sliders. The salt and pepper wings were crispy, though they didn't have quite the punch of seasoning I was hoping for. The spicy shrimp fried rice, however, was a standout--the heat was just right, and the shrimp were cooked perfectly. Overall, a great first experience. Happy hour heaven at this modern Mexican fusion restaurant! With a $6 Modelo draft, and a couple of Border crunchy tacos, husband got happy on orange grease. Then he got adventurous and health conscious when he ordered the Ceviche Asiatico. What a unique dish with a beautiful presentation! Plentiful shrimp with large slices of onion, cucumber and a spicy sweet sauce. It was quite a surprise and packed a punch. We wished the tostadas that accompanied the dish were not so burnt and that the sesame crema was on the side instead of the tortillas. The pile of fried onions on top was a bit odd but easy to remove. We liked that we could choose a discounted full size appetizer like this one, or something smaller from the HH specials menu. Queso con carne dip was my appetizer, with snappy chips and tender ground beef on top of gooey cheese sauce. Oh, and the delicious meaty sauteed mushrooms on top of the dish make it so much better than anyone else's queso! How can you go wrong? Well, it turns out... it was by ordering the Spanish shrimp and mussels. I was expecting a broth filled vessel of shellfish. I got a sour tasting white sauce on a plate, under a few unflavored crustaceans sprinkled with chorizo crumbles. This dish was a MISS. We found the restaurant to have a great vibe, a pretty interior and helpful servers. I would definitely come back to try more of the menu, the happy hour specials are great but they also discounted the full size apps. Next time maybe I can try some cocktails! read more

Came here for happy hour to celebrate a birthday and was pleasantly impressed by this location. In a shopping center, this is the cutest restaurant. Their service was great. The food was tasty and had authentic flavors. We enjoyed a few dishes, the sliders, fish and chips, rice and beans, etc. They even let us bring our own birthday cake. Really nice vibes and warm atmosphere. I would definitely return. read more

My friend and I had dinner here last week. We really enjoyed the happy hour menu. Such a great deal! They have a few kinks to work out, as they just opened. But overall, I can see this place doing really well. The food is good, the ambiance is great, and the drinks are pretty good. I highly recommend the fish and chips and the brisket dip. There was a weird moment with our server. We were still enjoying our food and drinks, she asked if we needed boxes and we said "no thank you, we are still working on it" but she brought us boxes a few minutes later. Kind of felt like she was pushing us out. Maybe she got our table mixed up with another, but it just felt a little off. read more

Absolutely one amazing spot you need to go for dinner! Enjoyed the drinks and the food not to mention the cozy interior and a live band. Service was amazing and our waitress was so attentive and sweet. I will definitely be back again for the Mussels and Shrimp! They're so delicious and the crusty bread made it worth getting all the delicious and bright sauce that was leftover. I plan to come back soon. read more

Amazing service and food. Myles was the best - we sat at the bar, he served up the best drinks, get the pinas. For food, you must get the salmon al pastor, the shrimp fried rice is great, and the pepper wings, wow! Would highly highly recommend. A fantastic new addition to Long Beach. Atmosphere: What a vibe! I feel like I'm in Tulum. Came at opening for lunch and it wasn't busy, but I've seen it in the evenings packed (esp since they have live performances). Food: I've only ever ordered apps here but looking forward coming back for mains. We tried the ceviche, shrimp and mussels, naughty fries and sliders. Ceviche: delicious, has a little kick Shrimp and mussels: A bit on the heavy side but generous portions and very tasty Naughty fries: So. good. Think elevated animal style Sliders: Delicious! Pretty large for sliders and the meat was delicious. Prices are a bit above average but worth it for the quality. Service: friendly and prompt. read more

I've been here twice but went recently for my birthday. Both times were great! The service here is friendly & the actual restaurant is very aesthetically pleasing. Super cute for a date or a girls brunch and drinks. Recently I tried the jalapeno pesto with chicken. The jalapeno wasn't overwhelming. It was just perfect! The birthday flan was a really nice dessert as well for just a dollar! I love coming here. I'll definitely be back. read more
This is fun spot with a large menu of Mexican dishes and good comfort food, a cool bar scene and live music. The decor is beautiful. The drinks are very good-- from the many cocktail options to a classic old fashioned or martini. I enjoyed their very good smash burger which was huge (You won't leave here hungry). Great food and great ambiance! My friends and I came here on a Sunday night to celebrate her birthday and despite being a large group, we were accommodated very quickly. I would definitely recommend the ceviche as it was super fresh and the portion was so good! The naughty fries were also super delicious (think animal fries but better). For my entree, I got the carnitas tradicionales and my friend got the pollo Luna. The carnitas were super flavorful but I do wish they gave more guac on the side! The chicken for the pollo Luna was also super juicy and flavorful. Overall, this place was a 10/10! (They were also able to split the check into however many cards we needed.) read more
We have tried Luna around three times since they opened in place of another restaurant. We have had positive experiences every time and the food is pretty good as well. The prices are a little high but if you come for Happy Hour you can get a taste of some good menu items for cheaper than the regular menu. Service was efficient the first time but the last few times it was kinda slow hence the 4 stars. Parking is free but the lot is kinda small. The overflow parking is by Target which is a larger lot. The ambience is everything as you can see from some of my photos and other reviews here so if you are looking for a cool spot with a very trendy vibe this is it! I think they do take reservations so go online or call them. Oh and don't forget to try their banana cream espresso martini! read more
Luna Bistro Cafe is something special! What a lovely experience trying this restaurant that apparently opened just 6 weeks ago?! From the outside it's unassuming, but inside you're transported to a boho chic interior design with earthy tones and natural looking pieces. I'm pretty smitten and will be telling everyone about this spot. Will have to come back for HH, but they have a variety of drinks (alcoholic and nonalcoholic), as well as appetizers and main dishes. Plenty of different options to meet your latest cravings. Food was fresh, a little pricey for tacos but expected with more upscale dining. Service was excellent, Natalie was wonderful! Offered great recommendations and checked in on us throughout the meal. All the staff were very warm! Plenty of free parking in the lot! Luna's Bistro Café in Long Beach is THAT spot. The food and drinks are freaking wonderful, the atmosphere is amazing, and the customer service is truly top-tier. We had a server named China and she was phenomenal. She knew the menu inside and out, from the food to the drinks, and her recommendations were on point. You can tell she actually pays attention and cares about the experience. Now let's talk about the food... because WOW. I ordered the Naughty Fries as an appetizer and let me tell you, that plate is HUGE. Easily enough to feed at least 3 people. We also had the ceviche, which was fresh and flavorful, and I'd say it's perfect for sharing between two people. It also has a nice kick to it, so just a heads up, it's a bit spicy. The drinks are always a win here. I always get the Pain Pain Go Away, which is tequila-based, and it never misses. Strong, flavorful, and just so good. This was my second time coming. The first time I had a couple of their taco plates and those were amazing too, so they're consistent. And since we went on Valentine's Day, of course I had to try dessert. I got the chocolate mousse cake with berries and OMG... DELICIOUS. Like the kind of dessert you don't even want to share. They also have seating inside and outside, which is a nice plus depending on the vibe you want. I also love that they do music after 7 PM (not sure which days), but it definitely adds to the atmosphere and makes it feel like a fun night-out spot. Overall, Luna's is the perfect place for date night, drinks with friends, or a fun dinner where you know the food and service will be on point. I will absolutely be back. The ambiance, the decor and the overall feel of this restaurant is amazing! Low lighting, plants and the asymmetrical shapes of the tables are wonderful. Things to note: 1. The food is made fresh to order and everything tasted great! Fresh and high quality ingredients! 2. Slow service. Server forgot our ceviche order although we did say it. I do understand the delay since it was Father's Day. 3. They ran out of iced tea. 4. The cold brew and coffee drinks were not available, sad but it's okay! Their lemonades and teas were refreshing! Mine and my boyfriends favorite spot for happy hour. The ambiance is great and there is sometimes live music. This is the perfect spot to meet with friends or for a date night. The drinks are strong but great and the ceviche, and flautas are our favorite. The serves are usually on it and are pretty attentive even with how busy they are. read more

I have been here twice- once for a date night, then returned for a birthday celebration. I will say that the two servers I had were a little unclear about which dishes were gluten free. I do not think they have been open long, and the first time we went our server had to be convinced to go ask the kitchen about a few sauces and whether or not the fries were gluten free (good news- they are!).
