Not just a place for coffee!! It has a great breakfast menu and gorgeous outdoor seating area. The experience was like being in a fairytale garden, in an already magically beautiful beach town. I cannot explain how happy I was to find this gem. During a road trip from Long Beach to Big Bear, I only found two spots that have Matcha. This is one of them. And boy was I excited! It's the cutest little spot tucked away with the most beautiful flowers and greenery around it. I ordered a matcha late with almond milk. The gal working was the only one there this day and was hustling. She made my drink perfectly and was super friendly. The matcha was unsweetened and frothed to perfection. Got there early before 7:30am and needed assistance from the Bistro what to order, so I got a Bear Claw, Blueberry Scone, Cinnamon Roll, a Mexican cookie and to drink a Mexican coffee. The Bistro snagged the deserts from the back and every one of these pastries were excellent and not from Costco, I'm not meaning Costco has bad pastries, but it's like these pastries where fresh, homemade and extra delicious than any other bakery I know of. And what can I say about the Bistro, she was excellent, I love when someone helps with ordering and advises me ther best recommendations. Especially on the coffee, brilliant! Fantastic little oit of the way place. Great coffee, service, and atmosphere. But the house-made pastries and breakfast menu make this place a knockout. The avocado toast (get an egg on top) and yogurt-granola-fruit bowel are the standards by which I now judge all others. Whenever I'm in Cayucos, I make it a point to stop here. Haven't tried lunch, but can't imagine it isn't every bit as good as breakfast and pastries. The patio is wonderful in warm weather, too. read more

I used to like this cafe a lot. Before I even moved to the area, I would stop at this cafe. Being a local, I would visit it more often. I recommended it to friends that would visit the area. Unfortunately, the last visit wasn't that great. Keep in mind! If they make you a specific brewed tea (over ice) one time, they will not make it again. To be talked to so rudely while other customers were waiting made me feel a certain way. I understand that you only make brewed tea if it's not busy. However there was only one customer in front of me and one behind me, then no one else. I guess that is deemed busy?! Fortunately, there are other cafes in the general area to go to and recommend to friends. The only charm of this place is the garden sitting area outside of it. read more

While on vacation in Cayucos my daughter and I had the pleasure of stopping in here for coffee and breakfast. We ordered the Mexican mocha and vanilla chai lattes to drink. For our meal we had the breakfast burrito, acai bowl and a strawberry muffin. Everything was delicious! Service is a bit slow, but there aren't that many coffee shops in town, so you will have to be patient. We came pretty early, so it was OK when we got there, but there was a long line as we left. Sit in their beautiful garden patio, relax, and enjoy! I when returned later in the day for a mid afternoon pick me up. I had an iced chai latte and though on the spicier side, it was still so good! They have several charming signs on the sidewalk in front and the walkway is beautifully decorated to make you feel like you're walking under garden archways. We stopped in Cayucos on our drive to Carmel. We love to walk through the antique stores on the main street. As it was time for lunch we searched Yelp to find a place for a sandwich. Luna Coffee Bar had good reviews. I would have never seen it as it is hidden behind another cafe so thank goodness we have yelp. We sat outside and enjoyed our sandwiches in a peaceful cozy plant filled spot. I could have sat there all day. I had a turkey cranberry sandwich, always a favorite of mine. It was a good size sandwich but nothing out of this world. We didn't come early enough to sample their coffee (no coffee for us after 12!) so I have nothing to report about that. Came here last week and tried it for the first time at my boyfriend's suggestion. The food was alright but honestly, Bijou has better. I ordered a chocolate chip muffin and a white hot chocolate. The three stars is only for the food and drink. The muffin was on the drier side and the hot chocolate wasn't anything special. The minus two stars is for service. I ordered a white hot chocolate which is on their alternatives menu. I can't drink coffee so figured white hot chocolate would be fun since I don't see it often. After my boyfriend got his order, mine took a while. The muffin came out first which I had while waiting for the drink. When the drink came out, the server told me that my "white mocha" was ready in which I was confused. I told him it was supposed to be white hot chocolate and he said that's what it was. And that it's the same as the mocha...what? For starters, hot chocolate and mocha aren't the same. I took the drink and brought it to the counter to not make a scene but as soon as I opened the lid, I smelled the coffee. So in turn, I had to return it. Told the same guy this was mocha and not hot chocolate and that I couldn't drink coffee. He told me they didn't have white hot chocolate to which I pointed to their menu which clearly said they did. The lady who was behind the counter making drinks also gave this guy a weird look. I'm guessing she knew it was on the menu. He reluctantly took back the drink and the lady finally told him it was basically a hot chocolate but the white version. I never want to be that person to make a scene but given I really can't drink coffee, it wasn't a mistake that I could let slide. After the ordeal, I finally got the white hot chocolate to which tasted well enough. But for the entire ordeal and for staff members who don't seem to know their own menu well, I'll take the less hassle and go to bijou + the cayucos coffee co shop for their hot chocolate. read more
