I highly recommend this restaurant. The restaurant is modern, clean, and very open. The chandeliers are made of utensils, which I thought was really neat. You order your food before sitting at a table. The food is fresh and plentiful. I ordered the gyro platter, and when it was dropped off, my waitress offered a second serving of the sauces (yay taziki sauce!). It could have easily been a plate for two with all that food. She also came by a couple times to check up, which I felt was a really nice touch. They have a huge menu of entrees with different proteins. The drink station is self serve, but everything else comes from the waitresses. The cashier was extremely knowledgable of all the ingredients of the entrees, which I appreciate due to food allergies. Luna grill takes a while to get your food, but that's because they actually cook it when you order it. For a "fast casual" type restaurant, you may feel the wait is longer but the food quality is higher proportionally. Never had food from Luna grill that didn't taste good and fresh. Their slogan has something to do with freshness you can taste, and they're right. I like the ground sirloin kebab or the gyro. Meat is always tasty and sides are always good with it. Fries are crisp but light, rice is tasty and plentiful, pita is delicious. This particular Luna Grill is probably the nicest and most efficient location that I've been to. The food is always fresh and delicious and the employees are nice, personable and are ready to answer any of your questions about the menu. I swear I can live off the Chicken Kabobs and rice here alone, but enjoy getting some occasional extras like Mediterranean fries or falafels. The team and staff are on point, and even when its busy they have a way of bringing the wait time down to a minimal. In addition, the facility is always clean and sanitary. I've been coming to this location since it opened and I have no complaints about the food, whether it's a dine in or carry out. But today I was disappointed to say when I came in, it's a new staff than what I've seen before, at no point in time during my visit did they seem happy, smile, or greet anyone including myself. There were three employees on the front end, and only a couple tables of people eating. Almost every single table in the restaurant was dirty food and rice on the floor of every table and a huge spill near the handicap table. While the employees are just hanging out behind the counter and waiting for customers, at some point during my meal one of the girls came around with her dirty rag and just wiped a few tables and went back to behind the counter. If they were busy, there would be an understanding of the mess. But it wasn't only the tables the floor and the spill, but the trash cans were overflowing. This location used to serve on regular plates, but now that they serve on paper plates and the customers are picking up their own trash. There's no reason the employees can't come over and clean up real quickly. It's not really appetizing to walk in and sit down to eat your meal in a dirty place. read more

I've been to this location a few times, mostly just for takeout, but I have eaten in before during the dinner rush as well. I like this location the best as the service here is the friendliest I've encountered at a Luna Grill and they also seem to be much more efficient here. I'm not gonna lie, I have a fixation with their spinach pie. I'm not even supposed to eat spinach, but if you don't tell Dr. Pe, I won't either. I sneak over here when the craving hits me because they never say no to me. I also enjoy those grilled carrots, which may sound weird, but they taste so much sweeter on the grill. I typically order the grilled chicken if I'm not getting my spinach pie, but let's be real, most of the time that what I'm here for. The plates here are very filling and I've never actually finished one despite my large appetite. The other thing I do like about Luna Grill is they have fresh brewed iced tea that is actually unsweetened. It's getting harder to find these days. I'm not a soda drinker, and I do occasionally like to drink something other than water. This place is always clean when I stop in. There's plenty of parking since it is in a large shopping center. Luna Grill is one of my go to fast casual Mediterranean style restaurant chain in SD. I've been to few locations in Friars road and Hillcrest. But I was impressed by this location very nice modern decor and spacious indoor and outdoor seatings. Good vibes! Great ambience. Beautiful design nice red chairs & chandeliers with hanging forks and spoons. Red is a lucky color in Chinese Feng shui ;) I ordered the chicken kebab plate with salad and basmati rice. Huge servings. The skewer was delish! So juicy and tender but the salad was dry needs more dressing. They have a good menu from appetizers - feta fries, hummus and fetas, soups lentil or lemon. They have kids meals as well so bring your kids they will love the chicken kebab, cheese quesadilla, gyros meat and kids burgers. Their signature plates are lamb tenderloin kabob, veggie kabob & gyros. And variety of gourmet salads from house, Greek, organic spinach and apple walnut. And wraps, too. Make sure you have room for desserts hmmm baklava, mini cupcakes and chocolate mini rolls. Great Service, Decent price, Fresh cuisine and non-Gmo meats they use natural and no growth hormones. We were pleasantly greeted by Shannon as soon as we walked in. The place is clean, open and smells of fresh Mediterranean spices. Diners order and pay at the counter then the food is brought out to the table when it's done. We both ordered chicken kebab plates; I ordered the regular one, she ordered the "thin-sliced" version. There was a couple dollar difference in price, but her's came with almost twice as much chicken. Hmmmm... Both plates came with salad, pita bread and rice. The basmati rice was tasty and there was a lot of it. The chicken portions are small, though the accompanying choices are filling. Other than the chicken portions, my only other complaint was the sticky wooden table. I actually thought it had just been painted. My arm, napkin and plate stuck to the table (see photo). I dunno...something's gotta be done (different table top or cleaning solution?). The total for both meals was $30, maybe too expensive for quasi-fast food. On our way to go pick fruit in Jamul, we decided to stop and have lunch. Driving around the parking lot, looking for a place that appealed to us we spotted Luna Grill and decided Mediterranean food sounded appealing. Knowing nothing about this place, we ordered blindly. There were 2 adults and a 5 year old here for lunch. First of all, the decor is very inviting and appealing. It is a very contemporary environment serving food whose recipes go back centuries. Although they promote themselves as "mediterranean" they are heavily based in Persian style of cooking. The rice and kebobs are prepared in very traditional styles from that region. I know I know you really want to know what the food was like. It was EXCELLENT, all 3 of us enjoyed our meals and were not able to finish it all. We ordered the spicy feta as our appetizer. It is delicious, enough spice to know it's there, but it did not overtake the flavors of feta. It was served with a very very good pita bread. I love using this dip with my meal, so I saved some to eat later. I ordered the lamb kebob plate. It was a large oval plate filled with fresh salad, grilled carrots, rice and a kebob that was plentiful and oh so good. Juicy lamb, prepared perfectly. It was so tasty on its on, that I was hesitant to add the spicy feta to it, but yes it was a great blend of flavors. I forgot the plates have that yummy pita bread on it too. My guest had a chicken kebob plate, I shy away from ordering chicken because so often it is cooked too much and served dry. No fear of that here, the chicken was moist and juicy and delicious. Our young guest ordered a gyro quesadilla, of course we all tasted it and it did not disappoint us either. Besides the excellent healthy food served here, they serve great service. Even though this is a order at the counter place, they make sure to come by often and check in on you and ask if you would care for anything else. Everyone had smiles and happy helpful attitude. Their House Vinaigrette is the deal breaker here! Without it I would not be giving them four stars. Michael B. really did a great job explaining our experience in his review. Their service always seems to be so spotty and employees either do not want to be there or they just do not want to really help you. They let you just stand in front of the cashwrap as you decide instead of offering suggestions. Whatever. But I seem to always go back to their Luna Salad. It's the bomb! It has cranberries, feta, almond slivers, HOUSE VINAIGRETTE (NOMZ), spinach, onions and tomatoes. I might be missing some other stuff. Then you can add a protein. I chose the chicken once. I was told it would be a kabob but it was actually tikka. These two items ARE different! I think that staff should know the difference betweent the two because tikka tends to be a little tougher and less seasoned than a kabob. I sound like a brat, but you have to know your "shish meats"! Especially when that falls into the type of cuisine you serve. Michael B. seemed more satsified on our second trip when he got their platter. A lot more filling for a tough guy. I had to write that for laughs. Again, even though service is spotty, their food really is great. Hummus, fries, and chicken soup were on the happy hour menu so it was only 3-4 dollars I believe. Hummus is really good! Must try! Fries are also delicious, they fried them when you order it so they are not like some place just gives you fries that have been sitting there forever. It was a little over priced and could of came with more dressing. The salad was good until I almost ate a short curly coarse hair.
