We've been ordering food from Luna Grill in La Quinta since they opened. The food was very good at first but lately they are cheaping out on the ingredients in the modern salad. The portions are half of what they originally were. Many items missing now. For a $20 salad, i expect more consistency and items that are supposed to be included each time. read more

I love their food, fresh, healthy and good portions. They have food that the kids enjoy too. What is not great and the reason we don't come more often is because it takes them no less than 30 minutes to get us our food. It has nothing to do with "food freshness" which is what they always tell us. There is no reason a place like this should take longer than a fancy sit down restaurant to get us our food. I am new to Southern California in general, and so far this place has stood out as one of the tastier, healthier options that I keep coming back to, as it is the exact type of Mediterranean food I love and crave. Always fresh. Always delicious. The young male server is exceptionally nice, I've seen him 2 of the 3 times I have came. He is considerate and friendly, and seems to always offer a water cup for my grandfather and I while we wait. Now, there are some cons. They are expensive...and the wait time can be an issue. Also, Always, Always check your bag... I have eaten here 3 times thus far, the first two times have been great....except I keep ending up puzzled, because I request no pita bread, yet they keep giving it to me anyway no biggie. But the last time, they were quite busy....and did not give me the shrimp kabob on the side that I paid for, or the green dressing for the medi-goddess salad upgrade either....they just threw in a packet of that vinaigrette which goes with the regular salad. Anyway, I didn't even bother speaking up about the dressing screw up, but yes I sure did go back up there for my kebab. But, the lady looked annoyed when I came back up to have my order corrected. And it took them (the 2 ladies bagging) a while to even turn around and acknowledge me standing there. The food was good and hot once you got it the problem is they take so many to go orders they forget about the ones that are dining in the restaurant and they don't communicate the weight between meals and how long you're going to have to wait they should learn to dedicate half the staff to to go orders and the other half to take care of the dining guest but that's a management problem not managing the restaurant for the floor of the business. I have been in twice now and the vibe of the restaurant is bright and open. There is plenty of seating and room to move around. Service has been really friendly - I've appreciated how helpful and friendly the people have been. Drink options are nice - their "non-soda" options are phenomenal. They only have 2 kinds of beer (one blonde, one ipa), and the usual sodas. I've had the gyro meat/pita sandwich and did not enjoy it. The taste wasn't there. I tried the beef and chicken kabobs and they were both fantastic. Fries are a great side choice here but found the rice tasteless and the salad a bit boring. The first time I came in, there were a couple of issues with my order. And, my friend's order was forgotten about (took 40 minutes before he got his food). The second time, my order was fine but I could hear at the table next to us that their order was not correct. It's starting to seem a bit like a pattern. Overall, some of the food is pretty good while other items aren't worth the bother. I've enjoyed my drinks and it's a nice place to get together with some friends. Got here for lunch at about 11:15 and it was empty. Leaving at 12:04 and it's hopping! Food is really good and fresh - order ahead online if you're in a hurry. Food is decent but not enough pita. Woman wearing Leadership t-shirt was either gnawing on her thumbnail or picking something out of her teeth then touched the food with said unwashed hands. Come on. If youre going to be doing that, at least wash your hands again. Or better yet, put on some gloves. Didn't even get my order straight which I noticed when I got back home. I'll give this place 4.99 stars. I'll tell you why in a sec. I was greeted by a very friendly TC and asked if this was my first time visiting. He explained the menu and answered all my silly food allergy questions. We got the plate with beef and chicken, both very good. The hummus is fresh. They brew their own iced tea, 2 kinds, 5 stars for that. The pita bread is warm and tasty. The salad is fresh , but came with a.... plastic packet of dressing?!? Good dressing, but, with all else being freshly made, it just seems like it should ALL have been percent fresh. Maybe I'm spoiled. The manager, Daniel instead of apologizing for the delay responded, they were trying their best. Wrong! Do something to explain why the delay and allow the customers to decide if they want to wait. First time we ordered take out, our experience was delightful. Food was fresh and yummy. Best falafel and steak kabob since Mykonos. BUT this third venture to Luna Grill was a disaster. Connie, who said she was the manager, was uptight and unapologetic, as I requested "hot sauce" to which she repeatedly replied "We have several. Which one?" I answered, pick one that goes with the meal. She replied argumentatively, Do you want this one....this one... or THIS one??? At that point, I lost my appetitive and would have canceled the order, except my friend was sitting it he parking lot, hungry and looking forward to a nice meal after a long day. When she approached the counter, our friendly server greeted her with a smile and was happy to throw in several sauces without charge. Connie strudded off, indignant and full of attitude, an image of unwelcome and self-importance. The food was cold, salty, and the greens were withered with an obtrusive stem resembling a small branch shoved into the falafel. Omg! Who in their right mind would put such a thing in someone's food?
