Been a patron of this restaurant for years, but after tonight I will not be returning. Understaffed, felt like we were a burden when we asked for someone to take our order (after sitting down for over 25 minutes). Well after we ordered, we were informed that they were out of basic menu items, and had no alternative to offer us. To top it all off, when the check finally came, the waitress threw it at our table. Came here for the first time almost a month ago and this place was genuinely great! The waitress was extremely friendly and even helped us snag a booth inside after she warned us that it get's super chilly outside at night. The food was pretty good, a nice touch of finesse to each plate (my only complaint was that my garden vegetable spring pasta seemed to lack any type of salt), and it is incredibly difficult to pass on the "Wednesday Wine Night" where a full bottle of wine is half off! Overall, nice ambience, not too loud and great service. It is incredibly nice to have a late night lounge to hang out in around this area! read more

Luna Lounge, by far, has to be one of my top favorite spots in the area for a low-key, elegant bar. The bartender, Rhino, and the waitress, Jackie, are absolutely the most amazing people who provide outstanding customer service, have positive attitudes, and are the nicest people in the service industry I have met to date. Michael is a great bartender. He is attentive and friendly. The issue with Luna Lounge was our appetizers took a long to time get to us...and the food was cold when we finally got it. That is a shame as the food tasted really good. I just didn't want it to be cold. Next, the plates of food were left in front of us for over 30 minutes after we ate....someone should have come back to pick them up clean up our space. We planned to go to Matteo's (in the same shopping center as Luna Lounge) for dinner at 7:30 Friday night, but it was so busy we couldn't even get a bartender to take our order, much less look at us, so we could have a drink while we waited 30 minutes or so for a table. We walked to Bella Bru/Luna Lounge to get a drink while we waited. Bella Bru was about 1/2 full and quiet, but as we walked into the adjacent Luna Lounge, the crowd and noise level picked up several notches. We sat at the bar initially and the very friendly bartender took our beer orders. A nice woman one stool over suggested a certain beer on tap and I ordered it without asking for a description. It was not to my taste at all and when I appologetically told the bartender, he said it would be no problem to pour me a different beer. Very customer oriented and I appreciate that. We decided to stay for dinner and had a very enjoyable meal in a booth. Devon was an excellent waitress and kept a close eye on our food and drinks to make sure we never wanted for anything. The crowd and noise increased as we were there....lots of folks having a good time. Afer our meal, we walked out through Bella Bru and it was even quieter than when we first arrived. Depending on your tolerance for noise, it might be a better choice for dinner, especially if you are more interested in listening to your dining companions than in hearing multitudes of happy folks having a good time. read more

First let me say- I HOPE my experience was horribly unique. This place has pretty good reviews overall so I was sorely disappointed after my visit. In a nut shell- decor is nice, love the outdoor seating. I can see the potential. HOWEVER- the crowd and staff... I am finding it hard to find words to describe how I feel. That bad? Yes. I walk in and head to the bar. It's crowded, no biggie. There is some sort of back country argument between a patron and one of the bar tenders. While they back and forth about "why did you say she slept with him" etc, I am being completely ignored. The bartender actually leaves his post! The only other bar tender eventually asks me what I want, I get my drink at the same time the Parton who was arguing with the other bar tender is pulling of my sleeve to examine my tattoos. Weird... Pretty much the night continues this way. Second time I went in to have a drink they literally had stopped service because yet another customer was arguing with one of the bar tenders. There is a profound lack of professionalism. I sat out on a secluded patio seat the whole night for comfort reasons considering there were outburst of cursing and such between staff and client. I'll add in one other side note- and I am kind of hesitant to say this but I feel it's worth noting- as a non-Caucasian I did feel like the moment I walked in the door I had a sign on my head saying "All of you stare at me". The crowd was not diverse at all and people's reactions to my friends and I being of a different demographic made me feel a bit off put. I don't want to say much more about it. I like the bartender here! I *think* his name is Eli? But he's awesome! (I may be mixing him up with my triple rock bartender) And I know I've eaten the food here and I've liked it, just can't remember what I ate. Its actually a really cool bar for being located in a quiet suburb. Now my gripe: snooty people. I was in jeans and a nice jacket, nothing special and I got some dirty looks from other patrons! Please, you're in Sacramento! And you're not even downtown! I work in downtown San Francisco and I don't ever get the guff I did that night for wearing what I did. Nice spot. Decent ambiance, drinks, and happy hour specials. Food was about one star above average, but nothing to rave about. The pictures that I see up are NOT representative of the place. I'm not sure where they are, but it certainly isn't the place we went to. THAT place looks like some fun, which is why we showed up, but upon arrival (with NO obvious sign out front), we found the place was very different than what we saw here on Yelp. So if you're looking for a neat, hookah, lounge-like experience... keep looking, cause this ISN'T it. I asked if they moved recently thinking maybe the pics were from a former spot, but the servers said no. What IS there is a cool place, and worth starting an evening there, burning a couple hours and all, but I might not spend my whole night in a corner of a strip mall, regardless if it's got a cool courtyard, water feature, and all. We visited the Luna Lounge based on a friend's recommendation. It is just enough off our beaten path that if that had not told me about the place, I never would have known it existed. It is part of Bella Bru located on Fair Oaks Boulevard and Arden Way. We were greeted by a very friendly bartender, so we opted to eat at the bar rather than in a booth. After ordering drinks, we were presented with three menus. Their main menu, a weekly or night special menu and one for a special inclusive menu priced at $20.14 that they are offering for the month of January. It took us some time to decide from all the choices. We ordered the house salad, the Ribeye Steak, the Grilled Steak Sliders and a side of fries. The salad was definitely big enough to share, which we did. My steak was cooked to perfection, extremely tender and just a touch or charring. It was also a very healthy sized cut of meat. The steak sliders were equally pleasing and extremely tasty. We both had leftovers to take with us. This is definitely a place we will be returning to again in the coming weeks. Who would have thought this tiny little neighborhood bar connected to a cafe would be so crowded with such a blend of young people who I swear cannot really be 21 and older adults too, so something for everyone! ha ha Gotta love neighborhood watering holes! True, this place is nicer than a diver bar, and they serve the same food that Bella Bru serves next door plus an added bar menu, but if you come here with a big group, there likely won't be room for all of you since this small bar gets bopping. This is a mediocre bar at best. Don't be fooled by the cheap decor, this is not a "classy" place. The bartenders are good. The food is ok. Drinks can be expensive. It's a small bar. The crowd can vary from orange fake tanned cougars to a young college crowd on any given night. They never promote their happy hour, so I have no idea what their deals are. read more

This spot is a little gem hidden in the back of a shopping center in Carmichael! It has a quaint, upscale feel with outdoor seating. :) The bartender was wonderful- so sweet and helpful! I'd recommend this bar for anyone looking for good drinks and a nice spot for good conversation! :) read more

This review is for patio service only. I love the bar. Service has always been great there. We sat on the patio during a Friday night. It was busy but there will tables open. It seemed to take a really long time in between any staff interaction or for our server, Carley, to come by. We asked three times for a water refill during the meal before we got it. A table in front of us seemed to take a lot of our server's attention. I'm not a stickler, but we got a bottle of white wine and wish the basics of bottle service happened. She just opened and poured glasses without a taste. She never chilled the bottle or poured another glass. Kind of disappointing. The Luna Lounge...more like the Cougar Lounge hahaha I guess this place is cool for the rich Carmichael folks, but it's definitely an older crowd and very expensive. It's decent. Carmichael / Arden area needs a place like this and Luna kind of fits the bill. It's definitely not a dive bar, but isn't real upscale either. Food is pretty good. The Bella burger is great and the fries are crispy. The salmon salad is good and quite filling - it's a big plate. Why'd they take meatloaf off the menu though? Love the desserts. What brings it down to three stars is the inconsistent service. Being a server is not an easy job and is hard work. But that's part of the reason you go to a restaurant and pay the prices - for good service. At Luna Lounge some days we'll get someone who is on point or another day we'll get someone who barely notices you. The kitchen is notoriously slow, even with the new chef. I think they are trying to improve it, but it's almost always a 30 minute wait once you order, even for appetizers. Vibe is generally good and the crowd trends older, but it's fun. Lots of older dudes sitting alone watching the game (i.e. checking other people, mainly women) though. read more

This is a fun local spot and I'm glad it's there nowadays. There didn't used to be any decent night spots in this part of Sac/Carmichael. Eli and the rest of the staff are truly friendly, the drinks are stiff, and the decor is classy. They event have an awesome music playlist going almost every night. Delicious food and great service. Eli the bar tended makes a great drink and my glass is never empty. Even in a full bar, Eli keeps all of his customers happy and takes good care of them. I don't know how he does it. The pizza here is delicious and I've fallen in love with the black bean quinoa burger (but the pizza is still better). The only reason I come Friday and Saturday nights is because of the excellent bartender there Stephanie. She is the best and hardest working bartender in Sacramento and a joy to be around. Always positive, upbeat and an excellent representative for Luna Lounge. When I travel I always gauge the quality of the Martini and Manhattans that I order and have yet to find them made better than what Stephanie prepares. This should be a great place for a quiet drink... Small, clean, in a good neighborhood, attached to a tony cafe. But quiet drinks are not on the menu tonight. The bartender is loud enough to hear from the parking lot. She's the person who, in a packed auditorium with everyone screaming at the band, still manages to be heard on stage. It's impressive, in its own way. She's pleasant and friendly -- maybe a touch too friendly if you're not used to be called 'my love' upon first meeting -- but she is also incredibly loud. I get that some customers will like this. I get that she didn't choose to have the voice she has. But when you put this, um, unique voice together with the volume, you have a choice of putting in your earbuds or hearing every syllable of every exchange with every customer ringing off all four walls. Wait... Earbuds are in and it made little difference. I still know all about her dog's Christmas outfit and the floor mats she needs for her BMW. read more

Serious update - little late: Went from 5 star regular to a 1 Star ghosting. Just so you know Bella Bru & Luna Lounge are like two in one, right next to each other & owned/managed by same people thus rating applies to both! The service is a now a 60/40toss with 60% crappy: You either get great spot on servers or someone that really doesn't know what they're doing & dropping the ball. Example lack of being properly & promptly greeted, & we mean genuinely, or not even noticed when we sit in the patio. Having to check in at register at Bella Bru for silverware & napkins, things like that when dinning at Luna. We Went to Bella Bru side because the older white bartender creeps GF's out. He's been tending for a long while there & was our only complaint so we turned a blind eye to give the place a fair chance & life was good, we'd take a booth instead. Over time his unprofessionalism grew to be worse & is a sharp contrast of what the lounge seems to go for: pricier sort of classier lounge vs. a dive bar; and that's the feel this guys gives almost pervy rude; the kind of bar tender you'd find in a cave- tavern. For what I pay I can enjoy a better drink down the road & now we due because this place consistently sliding down hill. Our friends felt the same way; said they had commented to staff/management; apparently the owner's don't care. The food started to vary also: Some great, some not; perhaps head chef wasn't working that day or the kitchen was poorly staffed. I hate every single dressing they serve; the viscosity is rich & gelatinous as if from a can or something. Rather make my own savory vinaigrette which I did when it's take out order. Kept returning thinking perhaps it was a few off days & for their pies which thankfully were still good. Sadly even that wasn't enough to salvage our patronage because no one looks forward to going to either the cafe or lounge anymore; flat out drag. We noticed staff come & go & sometimes return. The hiring manager needs to skimp on trimming corners & higher &/retain better quality persons commencing with competence, teachable if not, to authenticity. Appalled to learn why the downturn... Several times we had the misfortune of dealing with a very cold, as in a very unhappy witch of woman who doesn't even smile, let alone say boo! Her 'cant be bothered with you energy' & negative vibe sets the ambience & translates to her fellow employees & customers alike. Was shocked to discover that this woman is the owner! No wonder our polite, gentle, suggestions seemed to have fallen on deaf ears with their new & revolving crew. When ever I have the pleasure of dealing with a business owner, it has always been the best of best experience; setting an example for his/her team. Not the case here evident now in the decline of ratings & loss of our business. Our family, neighbors, & friends used to regularly patron here since it was our neighborhood spot. Twas our go to from coffee dates, casual luncheons, dinner dates, or just a relaxing night cap. No more... Seriously it's not worth it at what ever the cost & especially here... Hubby has found much better alternates. Perhaps I'll pop in few months to check the climate & update the review. If it's still the same will obviously leave this one up. read more

This place is Cheers with better drinks and good food. They've been cursed with revolving chef syndrome, but that seems to have ended, and the kitchen is now putting out some really interesting dishes. Some long-time patrons lament the loss years ago of nachos, it's time to get over it boys- the menu is simply doing too many great dishes to worry about it. Last week a new pizza debuted studded with house-made duck prosciutto. A thin, crispy crust topped with house-made tomato sauce, cheese, the duck and fresh arugula. Really, really delicious with the salty, earthy duck a foil against the sharp arugula. For those of you looking for comfort food, you can't go wrong with the burger and fries or the mushroom meatloaf. Both are perfect for a quick meal. It must be said, some menu items seem a little pricy, but if you're at Bella Bru looking for gargantuan portions on the cheep, go elsewhere. This is a restaurant-bar in on Fair Oaks Blvd. in Carmichael for goodness sake. Food: 4 stars Luna Lounge is a bar, and that starts with B and that rhymes with D and that stands for Drinks! The drinks staff at Luna is top notch: courteous, swift, and funny. The headliner is Eli, very knowledgeable, very professional, very glib. He's likely to good naturedly rib the occasional patron, particularly if pompous. Stay calm! It's all in jest. The bar features a good selection of wines by the glass, and a great selection of classic cocktails. Don't be afraid to order something different, new or old: the Luna management is enthusiastic about the art of cocktails (they use fresh-squeezed juices!). Make their day, order something that requires skills beyond pulling a beer. We've been here several times but last night's service and meal was not what we we're used to which is the basis for the 2 star rating. Our wine sat at the bar for 15 minutes while our waitress socialized. Finally got our warm white wine and ordered our dinner. The special summer salad was not worth the $9.95 they charged- 4 thin slices of nectarines, a few sliced strawberries, 2 half slices of bacon and some greens. Good but not worth the money. We shared the margarita pizza/flatbread. My first thought when it came out was "WTH- who puts marinara sauce on a margarita pizza?" there was tons of it and it was smoky flavored. Not our top trip to Luna. Hope they get it together as we really like going there. read more

This place gets five stars because it keeps getting better. It's clean, has a great patio, and two of the best bartenders around. This review might be closer to a 3.5 if we are taking about the restaurant itself, but this review is intended for prospective bar patrons. Carmichael bars/restaurants are few and far between. You have to support these places and hopefully more businesses will follow (i.e. Milagro). read more
