I was a bit disappointed in this place. Came here with my husband on a Friday night around 9:30pm. There was live music...TERRIBLE. The music was outside; we sat inside. Music was way to loud that we could barley here each other talk. The bartender was a bit rude and I even saw two employees roll their eyes at the bartender as well. My husband and I were coming in after going to the movies and I felt we were judged on wearing jeans and a sweater shirt and our service was not the best. Since 4.5 stars is not an option, I'm going the conservative route of a 4 star rating. In summary, Luna Rossa is a fantastic Italian restaurant, flexible to casual, formal, and romantic occasions. My wife and I have been coming to this restaurant since it opened. After having consistently-wonderful experiences each time with fantastic customer service, it has been a pleasure to see this restaurant gain a consistent following. Our experiences with the varied cuisine have always met with success, with our favorites being the spaghetti carbonara, penne alla vodka, and the al tartufo (black truffle) pizza. Please note the head chef is from Rome, so any of his local favorites are surefire hits. While the main courses deserve 5 stars in my experience, my main criticism is a weak appetizer menu and lackluster salads offerings. The cesear and salmone con patate have never quite met expectations, and the calamari can be considered average. The complimentary spread also just doesn't quite hit the mark , and can be lumped together with the mediocre appetizers. If we have a group, we typically bypass the starters altogether, and order another plate to share. This is further complimented by a fantastic wine menu and servers knowledgeable of them with great recommendations. With that said, Outdoor music on the patio complete with fire pit and heat lamps allow for comfortable dining with a great ambience. This is our usual dinner place whenever we see a movie at the District. The staff is consistently warm and welcoming. We LOVE the crostini appetizer (we get it every single time we go there.) Amazing ambience on the outside patio. They have a live band that plays there on the weekends too. We were willing to wait, there were so many tables open, and she tells us there is no manpower so she has no idea whether we would even get seated or not? Who does that? Bad salesmanship!! We came to dinner on Friday night and had an excellent meal! The Tortellaci with truffles are to die for! The atmosphere was superb as we ate out on the patio and listened to live music with a great band. I must add that out server Janlucca was very professional and catered to our every need. It was Saturday night and my family and I were looking last minute for a restaurant. I was going through yelp, of course, and came across Luna Rossa. Let me start by saying, my father hates going to Italian restaurants. I'm pretty hesitant too as it's always a hit or miss. And most of the time it's a miss. But the reviews and pictures convinced me to give this place a try. As soon as we arrive, we are engulfed by the sound of their live band. Unfortunately, there was no seating left outside. But we were seated immediately inside even though it was a weekend. Patrick arrived at our table with a vibrant smile on his face. Throughout our meal, he would frequently check up to see how everything was and chat. The complimentary bread came with two delicious appetizer plates, which went perfectly with our rose. We also ordered caprese, which was so fresh and delicious. The main course was unforgettable. My parents got the spaghetti pescatora. They were very generous with seafood portions. My father, who is very hard to please, was in heaven. My boyfriend and I shared the tortellacci ripieni di brasato di manzo al tartufo nero...which was a mouthful to order, and mouthwatering to think about. Red wine braised rib stuffed pasta with alfredo and black truffles. So rich and creamy. We were fighting over the last few bites. At the end of our meal, we were given complimentary glasses of moscato. We didn't forget to use the 20% off you get for checking in on yelp. For two bottles of wine and food for four, the price was not as bad as we were expecting. Definitely a great spot for a date night. Nothing too special here. I got the pizza which wasn't unique. I had the Carciofini which was a combination of salty from the cheese and sour from the artichokes. Today my family & I came for dinner to celebrate my mom's birthday! This is my second time here & I will always recommend it to anyone who wants a nice, very authentic Italian restaurant. We had Patrick (I believe that was his name/ it was the one on our bill so I'm assuming it was him) as our waiter & we loved him! He was so funny, kind and very helpful. The price for pasta is around $13-$30 depending on what you're looking for (the more simple ones are usually at the lower spectrum). They also offer rice-based foods, pizzas, and salads. The last time I came, I ordered the lasagna and it was delicious!! I thought I should try something new so I got the Spaghetti Gamberi & Pomodorini ($20). It was really good! I barely finished half of my meal (since they refilled our complimentary bread basket) & I was completely full. The shrimp was just amazing! They were plump & juicy & overall very well cooked! The noodles were chewy but not the point of being annoying & was very enjoyable as well. I wasn't a HUGE fan of the sauce, not saying it wasn't great, just that it was unexpected (since I'm used to a specific spaghetti sauce) but I would definitely recommend it to anyone! I wish I could give them 3.5 stars instead of 3 - Yelp needs to update their rating scale! The food is pretty good, but the service was definitely off. We came on a Saturday night and it was pretty busy but the hostess was able to seat us right away. It took a few minutes but finally an older gentleman made his way around and greeted us. The server was able to get the chef to make us putanesca even though it wasn't on the menu, so that was a great start but it kind of went down hill after that. It was very difficult to flag anyone down and the servers seemed to be running around but not really doing anything. Disorganized to say the least. But the putanesca was GREAT. I would go back for that, definitely. We also ordered a pizza with mushrooms and artichoke hearts that was just okay. read more

Not a bad Italian spot but please stop serving a ham sandwich and calling it prosciutto, cmon I paid $15 expecting a nice procuitto and fresh mozz sandwich and I got a deli ham sandwich. Thats like serving someone chicken livers and telling them its foie. Gnocchi with bolognese was good and pizza was not bad I prefer neapolitan pizza. I had a birthday reservation in this place. We were 20 people and we had a table on the patio (february night). I asked the girl if they had outside heaters and I asked it 3 times to be on the safe side. And she said they had. And when we were there, we saw that they only had three heaters working. You can't say you have enough heaters if you have three heaters for twenty people! On the other hand, our waiter was good and he was trying to serve good. But he was alone in serving a table of 20 people. So it took like 1,5 hours to get our food. Food was good. Prices were reasonable. There was live music on the patio. But I am so sorry that people freezed all night in my birthday!!! If I knew that I wouldn't make a reservation there. read more

Absolutely amazing!!! We went there last Friday night and weren't sure what to expect but wanted to give it a try. It's fairly small place but has a nice large patio and had great live music out there but unfortunately, I didn't have a coat and it was a little chilly even with the heaters. We got a nice booth inside and were waited on by the owner, Stefano. Great service, great time, and great food. The prices were very reasonable for the quality and quantity of food. After watching Masterchef this season I was craving for some stuffed pasta and I saw this groupon pop up for Luna Rossa for $15 for $30 worth of food so I bought it. I took my friend here for lunch and the deal was totally worth it. I ordered the gnocchi and my friend ordered the fettuccine alfredo w/ shrimp. My gnocchi was just okay but my friend liked her fettuccine alfredo a lot. After the groupon the meal was free so I just had to take care of the tip. If they ever do offer another groupon do yourself a favor and grab it. Even though my gnocchi was just okay the groupon made it a great deal. There's still a few other dishes I would love to try like the eggplant or chicken parmesan, and their lasagna. Hopefully they offer another groupon here and I'll be able to dine here again soon! Had a great first experience at Luna Rossa! Patrick was our server and he definitely made our visit a memorable and pleasant one. I came here with my husband for dinner. He ordered the tortellini de pollo and I had the fettuccine ai funghi porcini. Both dishes were spectacular! The sauce was full and flavorful, and their pasta was cooked to al dente perfection. We also ordered their house white sangria. It was a good strong drink but still very refreshing at the same time. Prior to our meal, we were given bread, oil and balsamic vinegar, and polenta with a short rib. It was all very delicious! After dinner, Patrick gave us a strawberry lemonade shot. We also ordered an americano and two desserts, the strawberry tiramisu and the dream bomba. Needless to say this won't be out last visit. Was not impressed with the food. We had the spaghetti, sausage pizza, and strawberry tiramisu. The spaghetti was not bad but not special either. The pizza was not good. I miss my dominos pizza.
