Very happy with the quick service and cleanliness of the place, I will absolutely be back. Signature Coffee: delicious and was perfectly spot-on with the sweetness I selected. (On a funny note: I did not know that they were going to open another location in Fremont, so I'm definitely attending their grand opening when they DO open in Fremont. Fingers crossed that I will be able to attend their grand opening. While I like the cherry blossom concept behind it, it left me rather disappointed when it came to the service and making of the drinks. While the coffee shop felt spacious and more than enough space to accommodate everybody, it just felt rushed throughout the whole time I was there. Their drinks were another dimension. I got their EGGspresso Hanoi, which surprisingly, was not bad at all. I loved how consistent the egg batter was, and the consistency of the coffee was quite equal. I will be back to try their other drinks, and hoping that their customer service could improve just a little bit more. I know they have the potential, but being more courteous goes a very long way compared to being bland in attitude, obviously.

It is located inside of Joyheart Cafe and has free WiFi. The employees were so friendly and explained the seating situation. There are several very large tables we can sit at, but the booths are reserved for Joyheart Cafe dine-in customers, which makes sense. I ordered the Brown Sugar Hojicha Latte and my friend got the Strawberry Matcha Latte. The drinks were served in medium size glasses with glass straws as part of their commitment to no plastic. I believe you have to pay for a mason jar if you order drinks to go. My friend and I both really enjoyed the refreshing drinks and would definitely come here again to hang out!

I was suprised when I visited the connected store that people were still sitting in the restaurant space. Quickly I realized it was for a tea and coffee spot that has longer hours. The cafe was wonderful with higher grade matcha tea and other drinks which were perfect to enjoy on a hot afternoon. They also import and sell one of my favorite Japanese matcha brands so that alone as me eager to return. The drinks were very refreshing and the cute cat themed stickers were a big hit with my broader family. I definitely recommend it if you are in the broader area.

I'd give their drip, Ube latte, all pour overs a 5/5. It was a late afternoon so I went for a latte decided to treat myself to a pastry since I had inadvertently skipped lunch. I enjoy their gluten-free pistachio cake, but buy chocolate cookie looked enticing. Dubai chocolates are really saturating the market these days and if I'm being honest, some of the versions just aren't any good. However, knowing that the baked goods here are a great quality and based upon the look of itself I decided to give it a try. Wow! This was a perfect balance of chocolate and pistachio, made with real ingredients. The cookie had both taste a slight crunch and a moistness in the interior. For those who like to dip their cookies, dipping this into the Ube latte was definitely next level.

I much preferred the overnight oats which actually tastes like PB&J when I mixed it up. Cute cafe and the people working here were super nice. It was crowded and it took a bit to find a table, as this seems like a popular place to just get a drink and sit with your laptop for while. Fun place to try but I am not sure if I would necessarily seek it out. They have some interesting sounding drinks but if they are anything like the Lexington, the fun flavors might not really pull through. Pastries look yummy though and overnight oats were good.

Now that I live farther away, it's become a special treat whenever I get the chance to visit. My go-to order is the iced vanilla latte with oat milk, and it honestly makes my whole day every time. The staff is always so friendly, kind, and welcoming, which is a huge part of why I keep coming back. The recent remodel looks amazing! The space feels so comfortable, relaxing, and inviting. There's plenty of room to sit and stay awhile, and I love that they provide puzzles, coloring pages, and books to borrow while you enjoy your coffee. The baristas seem poorly trained, and they don't have a solid process anymore. They've expanded their space, but that just makes the wait and confusion worse. I recently was in their new space and ordered two simple cold brews--no modifications. Where they used to pour it straight from the tap, now they treat it like a latte--and everything takes forever. If you want to linger in their aesthetic (albeit chilly) space, maybe that's fine. But if you just want takeaway coffee, be prepared to invest 20-30 minutes. It's no longer the quick, quality stop it once was.

Simplicity at its best, but worth coming if you are a true coffee lover…read more Tono has been in my newest rotations of coffee shops to go to in San Jose. It is located in the back end of the Japantown strip under an apartment complex (it is easy to miss!) It's across Higher Fire JTown Clay and you will need to rely on street parking like most of downtown. Note: Tono is more of a quick grab and go environment with some seating outside (limited), so not a place to work from home/do school work, but more to get your caffeine fix. There are close by community spaces to sit though! At Tono, they do not really do drinks with frills, but straightforward drips, lattes, and at most chocolate/matcha lattes. That being said, all of the drinks I have gotten so far have been smooth and not bitter at all. I typically do not like plain lattes, but I did order one the other day and it might have been the best I had due to how non-astringent it was. What I truly love about Tono is their pastries. They are so delicious! When I asked the barista, they let me know it is all made in their kitchen located in East Side San Jose. My favorites I have had so far was the Blueberry Hand Pie (had a good amount of blueberries with a sharp lemon citrus flavor) and a salted pecan chocolate chip cookie. The food and drinks here were definitely crafted to complement each other and I am all for it. Overall, Tono is a great community cafe, check them out!

Tono Coffee Project is Japantown's hidden gem, but I'm glad I found it. No wonder Tono Coffee Project is unassuming because it's tucked inside an apartment complex. I don't think I would've ever stumbled on it if I hadn't let my dog wander off our beaten path. Tono Coffee Project was cute and simple. I would say that their selection of artisan chocolate bars (they got that good, good chocolate) and pastry case drew my attention more than anything else. There were indoor lounge chairs in the complex foyer as well as tables outside. What hospitable staff members! When I went up to order, the employee at my register welcomed both me and my dog. He also observed that I had my hands full and offered to assist me with adding a lid to my coffee and bagging up my pastries. I ordered the "Extra," which was basically a mocha. I thought it was excellent. Smooth with rich chocolate undertones. It also was at the perfect temperature and didn't need a sleeve. All their baked goods looked delectable, but I went for something savory and got their Korean garlic cheesy bun for me and my husband. We both agreed it was the best Korean garlic cheesy bun we've ever had. In addition to the bright garlic flavor and gooey cream cheese, the crunchy corn flakes added a nice texture to the buns. Can't wait to make Tono Coffee Project part of my routine!
