My girlfriend group went here for our monthly get together. First thing I noticed was the decor....like entering a hacienda. Next was the quick service. In a refreshing twist to texmex, this place serves both beans and salsa together with chips on the house. Drinks were beautiful. When the manager heard that all of us were visiting for the first time, she brought complimentary appetizers to our table. Food is delicious. Took a friend to this location and it was a busy. He ordered the soup and after getting 4-5 spoonful of mystery meat he sent it back. Tried to order bean and cheese quesadilla, came out only cheese. We love going here and sitting at the bar. They have always had one of our favorite bars because they don't allow children to sit at the bar. You can disagree but it's not fair to the bartenders or other people to put your kids at the bar. Last night we couldn't get a seat at the bar and there was a family with small children sitting at the bar. One of our favorite places ever. Our server Olivia was the best! She was incredibly attentive and especially helpful with the menu, she took great care of us. This place is so good! They have amazing margaritas, super strong. It is a bit of a pain to get sat, the hostesses aren't very helpful with getting you on the waitlist, my family had to remind them to put us down because the girl said "I'm going to get a busser to clean a table" and disappeared. The service was good though, our waiter was very attentive and even convinced me to try a new dish, puffy tacos. They were very good! Well. Here we are again at Lupe's. Without any surprise they are killing it. Lupe's has very quickly and deservedly so won a solid place in my heart. Don't get me wrong with every place there is room for improvements but these guys and gals work real hard to keep you from finding them. With that there is always a dish or two that isn't bad but isn't great. Please when you find it let me know because I sure can't Tonight I've got Tia killing it at the bar. Organized and efficient. Everyone has what they need and a friendly voice under the mask to boot. Kudos to her she is on her own and going like a pro. Today I'm trying the flat enchiladas. An interesting twist on a traditional and basic dish. I am excited to try it and sure it will be great. To no surprise chief has come by to make sure the kids got it covered. We love Lupe Tortilla, but learned not everything is good and their children's menu is not good. It's way overpriced for the smallest portions of any restaurant we've been too. Also, avoid the taco salad. It's covered in cheese and not healthy or quality at all, plus the chicken tasted like the grill had not been cleaned in far too long. We were both hungry and had been wanting to try Lupe Tortilla since we saw it being built. Arrived just about 1 pm, had a 20 minute wait. Once seated, we were quickly served our drinks, Coke for her, Sweet Tea for me. We both ordered the Lobster Tacos. Before they arrived...we enjoyed the chips...and I enjoyed the salsa, which is a little spicy. Once the Lobster Tacos arrived, we first enjoyed how they looked...cool puffy tortillas with blackened/grilled lobster meat, and LOTS of it with lettuce and pico on top, rice and charro beans as well. I was surprised to see Lobster on the menu, but what a great pick! Service matched the food. On the new COVID-19 protocols, they were doing a GREAT job! All employees were wearing masks properly and they had tables blocked out for social distancing as well as plexiglass barriers between booths. Parking can get tight when busy, but you should be able to find a spot. Look forward to our next visit! read more

We had dinner here this evening!! We were seated immediately at a table for 4. Our server arrived just shortly after and brought chips, salsa & beans. He also took our drink & appetizer order. The beans with the chips were good... well, the kiddos are them mostly. We had the queso as our app. I ordered the chicken fajita nachos, hubby got enchiladas, and both kiddos got the cheese enchilada with rice & beans. I'm allergic to Lime and after talking to the manager he just goes well you didn't tell us your allergic to lime so it's your fault??? Why would my steak meat be covered in lime???? I ordered fajitas after driving by the location. I feel really upset with how my call was handled by the manager Don or Nom and the fact that I don't get to eat dinner tonight. Bad service. Waited for 20 minutes and no one came. We arrived at 8:55 pm. They close at 10. We asked if their kitchen was open and if they are ok to seat us since it's late and they said yes. I asked because I realize that this is later than the time most eat dinner but they assured me that we were fine. We get seated and no one comes to our table, not even once. I took my kid to the bathroom and passed by at least 3 employees just standing around by the bar. Others are just walking around. I realize it's almost closing time but if you are not able to wait on us because you don't have the time/staff/etc. then just tell us. We ended up walking out and no one noticed. We have been regulars at this location and been pleased with quality of food and service till today. Today's visit was a mess. We had a party of 6 and we were told 1 hour wait, so we go to bar to get some drinks and asked for some chips and salsa to snack while we are drinking and waiting. Bartender said they are very busy and not sure if they will get to it!! After 1.25 hrs we got seated, restaurant was utilizing 50-60% of seats available, I assumed they don't have enough wait staff. Ok, observing what is going on I quickly concluded that the problem was that it was totally mismanaged. Incomplete orders, food came to table incomplete, kitchen is not keeping up ...++++. We loved the Houston location where we regularly visited for 10 years, been visiting Allen location for 2 years so far and this is it for me. Lupe Tortilla is always slammed, so it took a while to receive round one, but Armando came thru quickly with the second round of platinums! I've been wanting to visit this restaurant and finally made it on a Friday afternoon. Waiter was well versed on the menu and pointed me to this wonderful tiplia and cream sauce dish. It came out hot and was really tasty. I think they use gulf shrimp in the dish too which was a nice treat. Next time I will try the beef fajitas. They have a good size patio and the inside is normal Mexican restaurant style. No complaints. Only 3 stars since I had one dish and have to go back for more. Tried this place twice and it's the best Mexican place in Allen! Good portions, tasty, and their tortilla is so authentic. Since the Dine in place has opened, the quality went downhill. Lupe Tortilla was our regular meetup with friends in Houston, we always ordered the queso (add taco meat) it comes with a pile of pickled jalapeños and the complimentary beans and salsa make for perfect instant nachos! I almost always ordered campechana- lots of fresh avocado, juicy shrimp and add lump crab meat. This time I wanted to have leftovers for a work trip and I'm glad I tried the mixed grill carne asada. It comes out sizzling on a fajita platter with rice, beans, grilled scallion - cheesy bacon wrapped shrimp And a "lupe chicken" breast which had tomatoes and cheese on top. I moved the chicken off of the cast iron plate to stop it from overcooking but it is delivered at the right time for immediate consumption! My steak was juicy and everything was seasoned excellently! I wish they had a chimmichuri sauce but they brought some salsa verde for me. ( I gobbled up the steak anyway!) and cut into pieces to make a fat burrito with the huge warm tortilla that it came with. We got an additional tortilla which I took home with my chicken and rice leftovers and it was really the ideal lunch for me the following day after a long flight! I also gave up alcohol before New Years and enjoyed a virgin margarita that was just as zesty and delicious as one full of tequila! Looking forward to coming back and trying more new dishes. edit 7/18/20: the manager of Lupe Tortilla responded to this review with a canned statement regarding contacting him, so I emailed my details to the address he provided last week, but have not had any further response Please note that before I wrote this review, I reached out to the Allen restaurant directly and left a message for the manager, contacted the Lupe Twitter and FB pages, and (finally) emailed the corporate office to try and get some sort of explanation for my issue. It's been three weeks now, and no response from any of them. One of the ways I judge a TexMex restaurant is in their chili con carne. It is a window into their food philosophy: mild or spicy, ground beef or stew meat, rich/thick or thin/flat. As a new customer, I was excited to see Lupe's Chili on the menu...a perfect way to get to know them! I ordered the chili, and some puffy tacos for curbside pick up at lunch. After a modest wait, got the food, headed home. When I took the containers out of the bag, I noticed a distinct yellow color to the quart container...looks like rice. Maybe they gave me the wrong item? Open it up, dump it into a pot for reheating...it's very soupy, with distinct chunks of peppers and some scattered ground beef. WTF is this? Please see the picture attached so you understand. It's not chili by any standard I'm aware of, but it's certainly not Mexican rice either. Is...is this how Lupe Tortilla makes its chile con carne??? As a Texan, seeing beans in chili already makes me question things, but I've gotten over that. But rice?? My only guess is they were running low on meat and, like anyone on a budget, tried to stretch their chili with some filler. Well, a lot of filler. God I hope this isn't their normal dish (based solely on their menu description, it isn't) but since no one will return my call or contact me back, I am stuck complaining on here. I had a great experience tonight. I sat at the bar and the bartender, Natilee, was exceptional! Great service, great service, great food!

We were sitting at the table close to the bar. No server will visit us or even the manger will help us anything and he was just standing behind us. Then after 30 mins waiting they said they will not serve food unless you walk to the bar and ask. 45 mins waited, we had a table and set down. We ordered beef nachos and the food was terrible and not taste good at all. It costs $20.95 for beef nachos and $10.95 for a ok margarita. We were very disappointed and will never come back. read more

The food here is pretty good, but the odds they get your order right is very slim. I've ordered take-out multiple times and each time had major issues. Like I order a lb of fajitas and only get 1/2 pound. Another time I order beef and chicken fajitas and only get the beef. Ordered fajitas and they forget to give me tortillas. Ordered fajitas and gave me wrong kind of tortillas. I mean it's crazy how difficult it is for them to get an order right.
