This family-owned restaurant is the best in Saddlebrooke. We've been coming here for 15 years and must stop in for our favorite breakfast burritos on our way back to Gilbert. We've known the eldest brother, Ramon & younger brothers, Joshua and Jesse for many years visiting with them over the years. Our first day in the area after moving from out of state, we had a couple hours to kill for lunch before the house closing. Our new neighbors recommended Lupe's , and it did not disappoint! I did 3 stars and not less because even though we would not eat here again, I can see why and how others would enjoy dining here. The service is amazing. I saw one person alone working the tables so effortlessly. No wait time, food came out at a reasonable time. The first thing we tried was the chips and salsa that was brought out when they came to take our drink order. The salsa was not even the slightest bit spicy which didn't surprise me since I did notice I was the darkest person in there, aside from staff, and I'm not very dark. I felt like the menu resembled what would be a Taco Bell-like menu if they have a non fast food experience. As someone who grew up on authentic Mexican food, I can tell this is not the place for me but I'm sure there's a lot of people who would like the non spicy salsa and different menu options. I ended up getting a burger as the beans are made with lard and I don't eat pork or pork byproducts. The burger was ok, fries were perfect. My child got a egg and chorizo chimi. She said the beans were delicious, wasn't able to take more than 2 bites of the chimi. read more

I ordered "Bills Plate" which is machaca, my husband ordered menudo, a machaca quesadilla, 2 beers and an iced tea. I asked for 1more flour tortilla and they charged me $1.21 for it. The service and food here is great. We have been only once but will definitely return. I ordered the beef chimichanga it was so filling and I only ate half took the rest home. The shredded beef was so full of flavor and rich tasting. The salsa and chips were served first I might of filled up on those too early. Motorcycle destination must! A group of us hit Lupe's at the start of the Winkleman loop earlier this year, and now I can't get enough. This is the authentic Mexican food that I have struggled to find. My favorite are the breakfast tamales (made fresh) with an egg on top. We always time our trips to make Lupe's for breakfast. The food is yummy, is finished quite quickly, and the staff are friendly, but the portions are quite small. You will not get full with a full-sized order. Between that, and the fact that it's pretty expensive for what you get (three tacos of each meat with sides of rice and beans and no drink were close to $20), I don't think I'll be back here. Visit Lupe's! I visited today with my father and brother-in-law and we seriously enjoyed the place. The staff was so nice and the food was fresh and delightful. I really appreciate a spot like this where they love their work as much as their customers! I especially enjoyed the machaco burro and the Fred's Plate, which has a machaca and green chile salsa under cheese. Wow. Where to start. Chips were really just burnt shards and the salsa was very mediocre. I had a watered down margarita a dry burro and some pretty good beans. Overall I'd say keep driving unless you're starving and indifferent. Down the road to the south on oracle is rancheros market. If you want real Mexican food, go there. read more

I have been driving to Lupes for the past three years and reside by the Tucson Mall. It is worth the drive to get the tastiest, freshest and great homemade taste in Mexican food. The staff is warm and friendly, and try very hard to make everyone's visit the best it can be. One of the servers, SHELLY, is top notch. She attends to every guest as if you are part of the family. She is a great asset to the team, always to go above and beyond to make sure everything is spot on with your meal. I have always come away from Lupes with a full stomach and a smile on my face. The food is so good you would think your Nana was in the back cooking it up just for you! Fresh and delicious is the way these folks do it. This is the best kept secret in Tucson for Mexican food. This place is at the end of town, literally. It's in Oracle Junction, outside of Catalina, so quite a trek if you're coming from Tucson. It's small and has a family run feel to it- literally, we were taken to a table last time by a child with menus! Refills on chips and two kinds of salsa, one of them fairly hot. The food is always served fresh and hot. I love the variety of green chili and there are all kinds of great dishes you would expect with Mexican food, along with some lower carb choices (things without the shell, which is nice when I'm trying to watch my belt!). Nice place, big room and lots of seating, and a good bargain. Food is around 9-11 bucks so not on the cheap side but it is way out at the end of the world.... or at the end of Oracle! read more

This is a heaven sent oasis in the desert. My car automatically turned in...not sure who else's car does that? LoL. I had something simple "enchiladas style French fries" and it was the bomb! I wasn't planning on driving this far, but some plans didn't workout so I put on my rap beats and cruised....the service is excellent. Very friendly young man with a nice smile greets you and tells you to seat where you want. I will be coming back and eat a full meal next time. Um...Beloved Yelpers, in my opinion, you may have let me down. The manfolk and I took the small jaunt to Lupe's because of the reviews and the fantastic food. The young woman that served us was very good. Nice, attentive, perfect. The ambiance was OK. Not fancy, but seemed clean. That's a biggie for me. In my little brain, if the restroom is clean, the kitchen should be too. On to the food. The complimentary chips and salsa were a little stale. The hubs had the taco salad. I had a combo plate of cheese enchilada, taco and chili releno. Don't get me wrong. It wasn't bad. It was meh. In the land of amazing Mexican food, I expect better.
