We've eaten here ONE TOO MANY TIMES...NEVER AGAIN. The food is actually very good and the staff can be welcoming and friendly; however, they make up their own MENU and "rules" about how to interpret it! Multiple times, especially during weekend brunch, we've had to educate them on what the menu item includes!! Also, recently, Lupe's published a new menu, prices 20% more; however, they removed one complimentary Mimosa and their fresh Sopapia (sp?) from their Brunch Entree offerings....and the quantity is less! Their old menu is still on their website. Initially, the staff did not want to honor that published menu description, even with the 20% increase in cost! The manager did finally agree...with much pressuring...to remember that "the customer is always right", but we never received our sopapia dessert. The new cost and anxiety of arguing with them every time about their menu is now, after multiple instances, greater than the quality of the food, and does not warrant a return visit by us. read more

Good food, bad service. We had three different servers during our 1-hour meal for some reason--we had three different people take our food and drink orders. I am unsure if they work as a team or whatnot. The food was great, however our server was unaware of what the dish was when it arrived to our table. He asked me what it was. Great salsa. Average black bean dip... if they added pico it would liven it up. I enjoyed the spinach quesadillas... so many places over salt their spinach and they didn't. Our party also enjoyed the shrimp enchiladas and burritos. Two members of our party are repeat customers for several years, and that says a lot. The restaurant is clean and welcoming. Hadn't been to Lupe's for a while but decided to give it another chance. The restaurant was recently renovated and the atmosphere was nice and the food was average. The service on the other hand was deplorable. Sat at the bar area for dinner and encountered the most obnoxious and lazy bartender/server. I was told that his name is Sergio. I do not expect to go to a restaurant and spend good money to be treated disrespectfully. Saint Valentine's Day dinner was excellent in quality and quantity. Price is normal. Service staff overwhelmed but super nice and did their best to accommodate everyone. Quick read: This place is a tragedy of poor service and absent management. We won't return. We were so excited about the opening of Lupe's, but we've been tremendously disappointed each time. We kept giving it "one more chance" because it's within walking distance of our house and because they're still quite new, but the bad service has continued to disappoint. Here's the good stuff: They serve a tasty bean dip with the chips and salsa. The drinks are good, and the bottomless mimosas for weekend brunch are a good deal. I've seen others get dishes that they've enjoyed. The potatoes that come with the breakfast dishes are awesome. Here is a breakdown of our first (and last) four visits. 1 -- Slow service, place was dead. The waiter says he used to be a bartender but they didn't make "Mexican drinks," so he couldn't describe what was in their specialty margaritas advertised on the placards at every table. So if you're curious what goes into a "Mavs-arita," you just have to order it and see. I asked him about their training program and he explained it was pretty much absent. 2 -- Take-out service. Brought it home, the bag of chips reeked. It had the smoky musk of rancid frying oil. Pretty much ruined it for us. 3 -- Met some friends for drinks and a bite after work. They got their food, but ours didn't come out. Our friends asked for salsa and it never came out either. Various waiters stopped by to ask if we needed anything, we said "Yes, we don't have our food and they wanted salsa please." Each one left and never returned. Repeated that experience two more times with other waiters. We got up and refilled our own tea. Eventually our waiter brought out our dish, but it was wrong. After waiting for them to re-make it, our friends finished eating (and never got their salsa), and we just asked for our check. We went home hungry. 4 -- This was the "one more chance" visit this last weekend. My date likes migas but they didn't have it on the menu (which is a staple at most Mexican breakfast places). So she asked for the chilaquiles instead, with the verde sauce on the side. She thought she would be getting the eggs scrambled up with the chips and peppers and onions and tomatoes and cheese (as advertised on the menu), but what they brought out instead was outright comical -- a bed of full-sized tortilla chips with two poached eggs sitting on top. It was so hilarious I took a picture. We explained that we still wanted the other ingredients described on the menu; instead of remaking it, the waiter brought out the raw ingredients on a little plate. W.t.f. I asked for the manager, there wasn't one on duty (again), and we left there for the last time. I sent in an email to their corporate email address describing these events and they never replied. ------------------- 3/17/15 Update: The manager responded with a late-night (4 am series) of compliments here on the Yelp system defending how hard it is to run a restaurant. The service and all around experience was awful. The drinks took forever to come out, 4 people in our party got their second and third drinks before I even got one-and I ordered before they even got there. Once I finally got it, it tasted awful-like straight ice and no flavor. Then our food took well over an hour to come out and that was only after saying a something about it. And then it wasn't even hot, maybe warm-ish at best. I'm not normally one to give a bad review, but everyone was upset, everything took way longer than it should have and we weren't even trying to rush or be in a hurry. We had made a reservation HOURS ahead of time so our party didn't just walk in and expect them to seat and serve us unexpectedly, but honestly they did not have it together in any way, shape of form. read more

A friend and I were here a few days ago. The food is decent, nothing to write home about. Here's why I only gave it two stars instead of three, possibly four if our waitress had been more attentive and forthcoming: kids meals. For a plate of frozen chicken nuggets and fries it was around $5-6. I don't recall the exact amount, but it was comparable to other places. I had ordered milk with my kid's meal, but didn't find out until the check came that not only was a drink not included in the meal, but it was an extra $2.50! Decided to try out Lupe's as it's right around the corner from home. I ordered CARNE A LA TAMPIQUEÑA with a slice of Tres Leches cake and whoa... It was a lot of food! The menu lists grilled beef strips and grilled onions topped with chipotle sauce, cheese enchilada, guacamole and pico de gallo but... There was also bean soup, tortilla chips and three warm tortillas. (corn or flour) WOW am I full!! I'm 6'2" and a 33 waist but my abs could barely contain their composure! It was all pretty good but some lime/cilantro would have set off the rice and/or beef. Especially as the beef strips were decently sized. The cheese enchilada was pretty good but a bit lean on the main ingredient. Tortillas and tortilla chips were standard. I made sure and asked if theTres Leches cake was commercially supplied or baked in-house and was told it was made so that motivated its addition. It was meh... It was a lot of food but for $23, it had better be and its dependable, just no SNAP if you know what I mean. It's local and handy but only if I'm wanting fresh Mexican with a minimum of travel. Note: I sat at the bar near the margarita machine during Happy Hour and watched a few being made 'on the rocks' and I must say. I'd feel ripped off if I had ordered one. The ice was packed above the rim of the glass and all told, there was no more than 1/3 glass of actual margarita. At $4.50, what a rip! As I said, the food was good but at $23, I'll hit up some other local eateries and keep expanding my edible experiences. read more

My wife and I just got back from Lupe's and the food was very much less than adequate. We ordered enchiladas and the food came out in about five minutes and looked as if our food had just been slopped on the plate. We could tell the cheese on the enchiladas was canned and not quality at that. For the money you would think they could make a little effort to present the food in a more appetizing manner. This is the first time we have been back since covid and the quality has suffered. Sorry we can not give a better review because we like to support our local businesses. It looks as if they are remodeling, wish they would put some of that effort in the food quality. The service was adequate from the bartender. My wife & I have been seeking for a Tex-Mex place that we can call our newest fav. Has to have fresh food, tasty natural favors, and definitely great tamales & margaritas. Eating a very early dinner today at Lupe's: we found it! Took three years, but yummy! We stopped in before visiting the local Keller store of Family Video (directly across the street on Rufe Snow). First impressions were positive: a fun and bright ambience to this place. Menu is rich with fun options. The margaritas were amazing. And, the chips come with a good salsa and black beam dip. My wife is a tamale nut: got the tamale dinner and exclaimed them to be best ever. I got a crunchy taco dinner: fresh, very good, lots of side fixin's so you can add as much or little as you want. Overall fantastic! Our favorite Tex-Mex place in Keller, TX!! Addition: recently tried the Top Shelf Guacamole - super good! And, best part: they make it fresh at your table side. read more

This a nice place located in a strip mall in Keller. Servers were pleasant and responsive. Salsa and chips are good but the salsa could have used less salt. Beans and rice are excellent as was the sour cream chicken enchilada. Wish I could say the the same for the spinach enchilada but it was way over salted. Cockroaches, YUCK! Ate here last night for the fourth time since moving here. The food is very pricey for what you get but typically very good. But this time, it was served with a little bit of that extra razzle dazzle. We were no more than three bites into our feast when in the corner of our eyes we caught the little guy rubbing his little hands together as if plotting to hop right into the our food and blow his load of little roach eggs all over our enchiladas. We immediately informed our server, who did not act surprised that we found the little vermin. At that point, he had made his way onto the table and was literally dancing and making lewd hand gestures just to spite us. The server found the fact that a roach was sharing our dinner amusing. Instead of offering a refund, instead of offering to reseat us, much less offering to so much as apologize, we instead got asked if we needed to go boxes to which we replied that we were disgusted. The manager never came, and two servers were laughing about it in the corner. Disgusting restaurant, even more disgusting reaction from employees. Don't eat here if you love your children. read more

Lupe's Mexican Grill is amazing! It's a hidden gem on Rufe Snow, which is off the beaten path for many of us. It is definitely worth a planned trip for a quick bite to eat or a casual night out with your bae. Always a great place to eat for the entire family. They have a daily happy hour which includes a menu for different tapias at a happy hour price. Sometimes there is live music on the weekends and it's both entertaining and relaxing. This is a great place to meet friends or even small parties. I'm not really a chicken person as I prefer beef, but the Pollo Con Hongos which is chicken, mushrooms and onions covered with cheese. It's served with beans, rice and your choice of tortillas is absolutely amazing and been perfect every time I have ordered it. The drinks are great. No watering down going on here and the service is always exceptional...even when they are busy. read more

Had dinner tonight for the first time at this restaurant and was immediately turned off when I opened up the menu and read a highlighted paragraph that said you would be charged for chips after your second small bowl, and you can only get the free bowl of chips if your bill is at least $10. Food was fair but not for the high price. Waiter was very nice but we will never go back just because of the chip thing, and it's not like we would consume a lot of chips anyway. I suggest going to Uncle Julio's, Papasitos, Habanero's, Chuy's or literary any table service Mexican food restaurant because they all give free chips. read more

I usually will never post about my restaurant experience but this one was too egregious to ignore. There is a posting outside that is 30% off for various healthcare workers on Monday and Tuesday's. When I went in I presented my badge, they confirmed I would be eligible for the 30% off. However I come to find out I can't order from the regular lunch menu. I can only order from another menu that has higher prices.!!!! So why advertise if they're not going to give me the 30% off. I thought that was very shady. read more

When my daughter and I visited Lupe's, the service was slow, and we were treated rudely. At the door, we waited patiently to be seated while the 2 servers on duty ignored us and chatted with each other not 10 feet away from us. The restaurant was not busy, so they really had no excuse. I told one of the servers that the bathroom was out of both paper towels and toilet paper. I got an eye roll from her for reporting that. When all I wanted to do was pay and get out of there, I had trouble getting our server to close out our check, so I was late for my appointment. The food is good, but I won't be back. read more

While in the past, Lupe"s has been our go to local Mexican restaurant, coming back after 2 months showed us that we'd better just scratch them off of our local favorites. The first faux pas was the chips, salsa and bean dip left much to be desired. No longer were the chips and black bean dip hot, but were cold. Took forever to get a waitress even though there were only 3 tables filled. Finally got our drink orders and placed our lunch order. Waited about 25 minutes to receive Luke warm food. After digging into the chimi and discovering a grease filled center, we gave up, paid our bill, and wrote Lupe"s off from our short list of local favorites. 1 star for service 1 star for food read more
