This restaurant gives a very classic and true diner experience. The design comes mostly from the 50's styled diners with an over abundance of shiny chrome and numerous neon lights. They serve breakfast here all day long and the menu is huge. However, I didn't give it 5 stars because although big, the menu still seems very plain to me, as there isn't any eye catching dinner options at this restaurant, just the typical dinners you expect to find at an old person's restaurant. I also feel that the food quality isn't all that spectacular but still good enough for me to comeback every now and then and still be content. read more

The food was great. I walked in told the waiter, "I want the best damn thing on the menu, some sweet potato tater tots, and a coffee" The nice young man pointed me to the breakfast platter? We live 1 1/2 hours away and happened upon lyndons on Sunday. We had the best meals there. We were in Harrisburg and decided to travel there again on the following Tuesday and it was the worst meal we have every had. The hot roast beef sandwich which I had on Sunday was NOT the same one that I had on Tuesday. The one on Tuesday was dry and was made with the worst gravy that I have ever tasted. My husband and kids had burgers and they were too dry to even eat them. The waitress was so slow and we had to keep reminding her to bring us our drinks and mayo for the sandwiches. Everytime she came to the table her mouth was full of food and she just kept chewing like a cow. Needless to say we will not recommend this place to anyone or go there again. read more

I went here with my fiancé for some late night drinks and snacks. We ordered the baileys and coffee for both of us and the waitress returned saying that they only had enough baileys for one so they said they would make us two weak baileys and coffees and discount us and we agreed. When we got the bill their discount was actually to charge us more than what it would have cost for the originalal drinks. I complained and they came back with a bill for normal baileys and coffee. It took me 20 min of explanation to the manager and some math lessons to the manager to finally get everything straighten out. So a relaxing night with my fiancé turned into a hassle... read more

We love a good diner, and the Lyndon as is good as diner dining gets. We stopped for breakfast, and hoped the one in York was as good as the one in Lancaster. The diner did not diappoint. Plenty of good food for a fair price. I had the breakfast sliders, and could have eaten them all day they were that good. My gal had the Lyndon breakfast special, and was too much for her. Best toast you will find in any diner any where..Staff again was very polite, kind, and attentive. We walked in and the hostess said, "Follow me." No greeting, no smile. She didn't bother to ask how many people and we had to tell her a third was coming. The food was average; the waitress checked in only one time though we needed things. When they brought a glass of milk for my niece, there was a hair in it. When we signaled a waitress and asked for another one, she frowned, picked it up, walked away in silence. No apology or acknowledgment of what we said. She came back and I said, "You were really rude about that just now." She said, "Oh well, I said 'Sorry.'" (She hadn't). Then she walked away again. We could hear her complaining to her co-workers about being accused of being rude. No one offered us an apology or a discount. We didn't leave a tip which I've never done in my life. read more

The problem is this place is inconsistent. One time good service and food and the next time not so much. Some of waitresses call you "darling" and "sweetheart " which l find offensive. Was there over the weekend and they had a large party in the back so everyone who came to the dining room was told they would have to wait as they were sooo busy. Fast fast fast. We hit it at the right time and breakfast came out before I finished my first cup of coffee. Breakfasts were huge. I had the corned beef hash and DH had the breakfast special. He got through more of his than I did but even between the two of us the pancakes didn't get finished. And we like big breakfasts!! The food itself was solid diner breakfast food. I ordered over medium and one egg was perfect while the other was somewhat overdone. Hash browns fine and pancakes were good. Sausage is huge links. Total cost about $20. I know servers that worked there and they shared with me on several occasions how horrible it was. The kitchen was dirty and everything was leaking. The cold bain for the salad fixings was broke for weeks and they had to serve the salads luke warm as there was only ice keeping the items cold.. There was plenty of other equipment that wouldn't work and the 22 year old owner refused to fix them or have them repaired. He was very difficult to work with, never acknowledging his servers or other employees, acting superior to all of us. If you were a new hire he wouldn't talk to you, as they had to speak to him first. He would yell at the top of his lungs, many times having servers in tears, even at times the customers could hear him from the kitchen. If a server would bring back a meal that was bad or not right he would yell and tell us to take it back to them, that he saw nothing wrong and if they didn't like it they could go somewhere else, he didn't give a F--K, if they left. He at times would flip the middle finger up and tell the servers to tell them to suck his D--k if they didn't like it, all of this being done in front of his employees. So disrespectful as a 23 year old boss who by the way is the son of the owners. They look down on the servers and look up to their cooks, well there it is. The cooks keep the line with mold and slime then serve the food to the public. The Lyndon diner deserves every bit of this. That place is gross. read more

WOW! What a surprise. My wife is not a big fan of diners, but I convinced her to go here. She loved it. I loved it. This place has everything. You want breakfast, lunch, dinner, cocktails? They have all of it and they're always open. We went during breakfast, the food was very good. I wouldn't say that it is the best food I've ever tasted, but it was excellent and you got so much food for a very reasonable price. The service was impeccable. Our waitress was so friendly and on the ball as was the hostess, the woman I paid the bill with, and even younger worker on the way out. I am blown away by this place and really have no reason to go to any other restaurant in the immediate area unless I'm craving a special type of food. This will be our go to place and the place we will bring visitors. You will love this place. The service and food really challenges what we've come to expect from a Diner and is way better than your typical chain restaurant Diners. read more

Lots of restaurants in York, Pa. You can easily find something much more satisfying than this place. Final straw which broke the camel's back was today's meal. Soup was served almost cold. Broiled fish was almost cold, so was heavy with grease. Did not send fish back as I was very hungry because it took 40 minutes before we got served, and sweet potato fries were not cooked enough (and cold) so I needed to send them back. Staff failed to serve fries so I approached counter for service. Fries served within a minute but cold. Rolls and bread served cold. Cole slaw was the only part of this meal that was ok. Pathetic. Food served with no napkins or silverware. Asked staff for silverware two different times and he said, "he's working on it!" So pathetic, I laughed. Coffee served twice and water once. Waiter nowhere in sight for service. Asked staff to speak with manager. Manager never did come to table so we approached cash register at which point, she commented she was "just coming over to see us". She was not listening to my concerns and offered the dinner at 50% off, not free. I did not ask for any discount. Threw my rewards card in trash when I got home. This has happened the past 2 times we've been there. Three strikes and I'm done. read more

Came here for an early Sunday dinner-The service was terrible. We were seated, our waitress's name was kyrstal. Right off the bat we knew this was going to be a questionable experience. My boyfriend asked her what kind of beer they had? not only did she not know,she didn't even offer to find out, so my boyfriend had to go walk over to the bar and make his selection out of the 5-6 beers they had. He choose a blue moon and I quickly asked could she please bring him and orange slice with that. She brought drinks then probably 5-7 minutes later she came back and realized she forgot the orange slice, 5 more minutes go by and she brings the orange slice. Then we placed an appetizer order the "inferno waffle fries" (waffle fries with chili,cheese and jalapeños) she brought them over and then we didn't see her again for 10-15 minutes, mind you there was no chili on our fries. When she came back she acknowledged the fact that there was no chili and that she realized this before she even brought it to the table, yet she still never took the initiative to bring the chili and then proceeded to ask if we still wanted the it? She brought our dinner order at which point she asked? Did we need anything else? My boyfriend promptly asked for more sauce for his burger. We watched her seat and take orders from several other tables and bring out food for at least two other tables. Then she came over to our table twice to tell us "yeah I still forgot your sauce" we never did get that sauce. We Just asked for our check and got out of there, never have I had a waitress who was so chronically aloof. read more

This used to be a very good restaurant. I'm not sure what has happened to it in the last year. The eggplant parmesan was my favorite meal there, but now it comes out cold and the cheese isn't melted. Instead the cheese is cut into cubes and placed on top of the eggplant. A waitress once told me that it's the kind of cheese that doesn't melt...really? The eggs benedict is awful. The eggs are always overdone. I am extremely disappointed in how things are progressing with this restaurant. read more

We had breakfast here a couple of weeks ago after the RV show at the York Fairgrounds. It is very close to that location so if you are going there for any events it it very convenient.Our meals were excellent, everyone enjoyed there breakfast even my ten year old nephew. It is very clean , comfortable and the service was good. I stole a taste of my husbands hash brown which were great.I had the cheeseburger sliders with coleslaw since it was near noon when we arrived, both were very good. I would definetly return to Lyndon diner next time I am in the York area. Also be aware the portions of breakfast are very generous so if your watching what you eat be ready to splurge! read more

I used to go to the Lynden Diner in Lancaster. Always hectic and crowded. Good food, and service. This one, unless there's a special event in town, not so. Good service, and food. The Nautilus Diner has proved to be a new found sinking disaster. My family and I decided to head out for a Father's Day breakfast. We don't often go out to eat, having three small children puts a strain on our budget, but it was a special occasion and a diner breakfast usually fits our needs. Being that we were always fond of the Starlite, we decided to give the "newly renovated" and "new management" a shot. We were delighted to see the bar removed as a centerpiece, even though it was simply repositioned behind the cashier. We were greeted very promptly and seated comfortably at a large table for our family of 5. The server was attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. So why then only one star? The prices. We went to a diner for breakfast, and paid $40!! For PANCAKES!! I couldn't believe it! I don't mean to sound cheap, but let's be practical for a minute. We brought home a copy of their menu just to see what the bulk of the cost was, the boys' breakfasts were $4.99 each, and my daughter's was $5.99. That was from the kid's menu! And the part about the boys' breakfast that really burned me, was we even asked if they could make just one pancake for our youngest because he is only 18 months. My husband ordered 3 pancakes, 2 eggs and a side of bacon add coffee and his portion of the bill was just shy of $12! The food wasn't anything spectacular, basic pancakes, slimy bacon, and greasy sausage. The coffee was good though. I might go back for the coffee, however they have a minimum charge of $2.00 or $3.00 per person depending on which menu page you look. In that case, dessert might have to be an option but I had to laugh when perusing the dessert menu and found jello for $2.99. REALLY?? Is it just me or can you buy 3 boxes of the stuff for a $1.29!! The new owner must be delusional. I can't stress this enough: It is a DINER! A place where patrons expect casual fair, at REASONABLE PRICES, in a timely manner. Service was timely, the menu was uninspired, but the prices were just ridiculous. They could probably cut costs by not serving unneeded glasses of water, (the children were also served separate plastic covered cups of water) by a server who's only job, as it seemed, was to serve water. If the new owner wanted to own a seafood restaurant or a steak house, maybe they should have tried something that didn't have "DINER" in the name. Upon looking at the rest of the menu, it became abundantly clear that this will not be a family friendly economical place to dine out. As a side note: on the breakfast menu they feature NY strip steak and eggs, home fries and toast for $13.79, put it on the dinner menu same NY strip, potato and vegetable $18.99 ..... go figure. read more

We have been dining here for years and last night's experience was so bad we will NEVER go back! Yes, I do realize they had a busy night, but when we got there after 9:30, it really wasn't crowded or busy. Yet, it took over 30 minutes to get the appetizer we ordered. After waiting and additional 45 minutes, I spoke with the manager. our party of 5 had ordered burgers and breakfast things, nothing that required more than 10 minute cooking time. The waitress had never turned in our order!!!!!! Yet, she had stopped by our table several times to tell us our food would be right out! She then delivered it with the promise of "free dessert" and did not like my reply, "we do not want dessert we have already been here for an hour and half and it is late." My burger was dry and cold; my son's chicken wrap was inedible, and my daughter's 4 vegetable platter had 2 of one item and the rest was cold. The did get my mother's french toast and father's omelet. The manager admitted the waitress had made a mistake and took 10% off our bill and continued to offer free items. York has plenty of other places to go for a bite late at night. read more

I seem to remember a Hardee's being at this location before this diner was built (about 15 or 16 years ago). It has operated as Starlight Diner, Nautilus Diner, and is currently called Lyndon Diner. This past Sunday was the first time I had eaten here. The diner is much more spacious inside than it looks from the outside. Additional parking can be found at the phallic named sporting goods store nearby. The extensive menu has something for everybody and breakfast is served all day. I had the hot turkey sandwich with mashed potatoes. The portion size was generous and it was reasonably priced. The food would have been even better if it was hot. Several others at my table had this complaint too. I suspect that some of the meals sat out awhile so that the server could bring all of the food to our table at the same time. Otherwise I would have given a higher rating. I would be willing to give the Lyndon Diner another try. read more

Terrible, terrible, terrible. The food was awful. The service was awful. I ordered a bowl of chili to start. How do you mess up chili? Well, they did it. It had a horrible sweet taste to it, much like a Sloppy Joe mix. It is supposed to be chili, not a Sloppy Joe in a bowl. The panini was horrible. The waitress brought some marina sauce to try to help me choke it down, but that was no help. We had no silverware or napkins on the table when we were served. Waitress was awful. Very unfriendly and very unaccomodating. She had to make three trips to get a glass of water!!!!!!!!!!! She passed by and apologized two times for not getting it. The cashier asked how it was. I asked her if she really wanted to know. She said, "Yes." I told her about the quality of the food and service. What did she do? She said, "Sorry." If you want ask that question and then not follow up on the answer, then that is the epitome of a staff that does not care if you come back or not. I will never eat here again. read more
