The people here have the most terrible attitude, and maybe no wonder....there is never anyone here! The owner was the partner in the Lyons Car Wash (adjacent) for some time, and dissolved the relationship. Or, SOMEONE dissolved the relationship. I took my car to have a SMOG Check done last year, and you have never seen so much fumbling around by the service technician. Took an hour and a half. I said I'd never even walk in there again, but was at the car wash and was looking for someone. I got such a horrible answer to my question, I thought I needed to have a FLAK jacket on. Pull up to get my headlight bulb fixed. They insist the bumper needs to be removed to replace bulb.. Telling me it will take 1.5 hours of labor $175.00 to change. I tried to explain to them I had seen a easy tutorial on YouTube for my make and model car that didn't involve the bumper needing to be removed. Long story short I went home and finished replacing the bulb in 20 minutes myself. Other friends of mine swear up and down for this establishment but not my experience.. read more

Took my 95 GMC Suburban to Harry for some light engine work as well as a few recommendations from another mechanic. I was told that I needed my fan clutch changed as well as a tune up. After taking it to Lyons auto center I was told that the fan clutch was not needed and after pulling a spark plug he called and asked if I had any performance issues, I told him no and he said he didn't believe that a tune up was needed as well. He did show me that my brake pads had about 15% left and he recommended them being replaced. He did the work required and didn't try to sell me things I didn't need. He was very fast and affordable. I will be taking all my cars to Lyons auto center from now on. Oh the free car wash is a nice touch also. read more

If you want an honest and excellent mechanic, then Lyon's Automotive is the place to go. A little background...My dad is a mechanic - the best I know. He owns multiple shops in southern California. He is also the most honest mechanic I know - if your car doesn't need it, he won't do it. My dad was, and still is, focused on gaining customers for life instead of looking for a big payday. My experience with Harry has shown that he practices business the same way my father does - honesty, integrity and great work. Harry is focused on repairing your vehicle - not taking as much money from you as possible. My wife took her car into Harry's because she thought the brakes needed to be replaced due to the squealing she heard every time she applied the brakes. Harry checked them out and they still had 50% remaining - he let her know that she had plenty of brake pad left and that the only reason she needed to get them replaced was to get rid of the squeal. Harry could have easily told us that they needed to be replaced to make a quick buck, instead he didn't charge us a thing. The other nice thing about Lyon's Automotive is that they are right next door to the Lyon's Car Wash, so anytime you get any work done, they wash your car for free - can't beat that. So sad to write a bad review, I'm all about good reviews. But unfortunately now I have to write something negative about my experience. My oil was leaking so I brought it here since once before I had a good feeling from here. Turns out it was my oil gasket tank and needs to be replaced. They couldn't fix it because because the screws were striped, they told me someone in the past already tried to fix it. Side note I have a different car now . I have a Chevrolet sonic, hatchback, 4 door turbo 2016. Great condition. So I decided to go ahead and change out the oil gasket pan. Harry said $300, because he has to take everything out and then put it back together. I said completely okay. I left it there for 2 hrs. He called me to come get it. I picked it up and the car was running already and waiting for me. From there Santa Clarita drove it straight to Glendale to pick up a Friend from work. I parked on the street and waiting 15 minutes for my friend to come out. When I tried to start my car it wouldn't start what so ever , tried over and over. I was so blessed that an uber driver was taking a break and was parked behind me he offered me a jump. After that my check engine light came on for the first time ever . I called Harry back and explained what happened he was clearly annoyed and said it wasn't him but bring in the next day to look at it. That same day after the jump several times through that day my car would stop turning on. I was beyond upset because it all goes to that whole "I bring my car in to get 1 thing fix and leave with a new problem" so I bring it back to Harry the next day. He looks at it briefly, he doesn't give me an answer, can't tell me why the check engine light came on, and on TOP OF ALL THAT HE WOULDN'T EVEN DO A COURTESY DIAGNOSTIC CHECK!!! He wanted me to pay $100 for that, I asked several times to please do it as a courtesy he refused. He said it could be that I need a new battery. He even said "anybody can leave my shop and call me back and say my light went out ,you know what I mean?" I was like are you serious right now this is your response. I was utterly shocked. He clearly didn't care also I know it wasn't harry that worked on my car because he had to ask the other worker, and they were going back in forth in a different language which my friend that I brought understood. He made a mistake and didn't want to own up to it and at least tell me what was wrong with it so I can go somewhere else. Then he did this shady quick thing, he plugged in this thing and all my lights on the dash came on and i was like what are you doing!? Then he plugged it back in again and all the lights went away including the check engine light. He couldn't even explain why or what he did. I was so upset I left...somewhat thinking maybe the problem is fixed. Nope 5 minutes later when driving the check engine light came on again . I went straight to O'rileys and got a new battery. Car would start fine now but check engine light was still on and now when I pump gas my car won't start. So I was going to a new mechanic a good one in Pasadena!!! I actually never got any work previously done qith Harry before but because of Harry's honestly I came back 2 years later . Now I just think he just didn't want to waste his time fixing a piece of crap not worth his time( my old Saturn) . Please don't come here . I can't imagine if it was a more serious issue. All he had to do is own up to his mistake and if he didn't want to do that he should of at least did a courtesy DIAGNOSTIC and say listen It's not from us but I'll try to tell you what's wrong with it. I just write reviews when the service and value is garbage and this place is one of them..The owner his not really friendly I took my car for over $1000 of repairs. I budged in for all the repairs he stated I needed. Also, I got charge just for a check up on top of that. Then I tell him to check several components of the car, I tell him the dealer told me to check the transmission fluid.. it needs to be changed... then later he saids no this doesnt need maintenance but then later said oh yeah it does?!?! Like what? I also told him to check my A/C he said the gas was full and no repairs needed to be done (surprisingly he didnt want to charge me a large amount to "fake" fix my A/C.. Long story short he charged me over $1000 for everything a month later check engine light turns on and I ask him if he could check it as a courtesy maybe had to do something with some of his "repairs" wants to charge additional $160 just to hook it up to the machine to see the error code.. When I called out his scam his like oh yeah I can do that for free but to fully check you have to pay that.. Then I go to another mechanic didnt charge and also the A/C was super low on gas this guys is SCAM please stay away. To top it off his not friendly and wants to nickel and dime you for every penny you have. Stingy man stay away and aware. read more

Do NOT recommend!! TLTR: Picked up my vehicle with more problems that it arrived with. Brought in a Honda with under 28k miles to inspect a sound it was making. The car was at their shop for 2-days until Harry called to tell me that we needed to take it on a test drive to make sure we are talking about the same noise (there's only one sound it was making). I show up and get told to take it for a test drive. So I did and notice it is not driving properly. The car drove smooth before bring it to this shop but now it's very bumpy after, almost not drivable. I come back to the shop and tell him there is something very wrong with the car not riding smoothly. He essentially calls me a liar and says that I don't know what the car originally drove like. Then tells me that it is possible the weather made the struts go bad over the 2-days it was there. He follows up with that he can diagnose the problem for $100 per HOUR. Mind you a problem that didn't exist before bring it into his shop. So moral of this story is not only did the original problem not get solved but now I also have another added problem to solve on the vehicle that happened while in their care. Won't be coming back to this establishment anymore. EDIT: I would like to add that Harry took it for a test drive and failed to mention to me that there was an issue with the car bouncing up and down. It wasn't until I came back and said something for him to tell me that he felt the bumpy ride during the test drive. You'd think a mechanic would let you know immediately if there was something wrong with your vehicle. read more

They didn't seem to care one way or another I suffered a breakdown while on a road trip at 3am and needed to have my differential filled with fluid. This is a very simple job but no one is open at 3am. We limped into Santa Clarita, found this place and waited until they opened. Out of courtesy I didn't even jump on them when they drove up - I waited until the actual OPEN hour and then went to the office and waited at the counter. When he came to see me I explained that all I needed was to put the care on a lift and add fluid to the differential. He told me it would take an hour. I looked around and saw no other customers and two empty bays and I said "We've been on a road trip for four hours and we're stranded here" and he actually replied "I have cars from out of state that have been here for 3 days." and then he went to sit down and check his email. I waited 8 more minutes while he completely ignored my existence - didn't even bring me a work order to fill out - until I finally just left and found another shop. This is a place that CLEARLY knows when they have you over a barrel and don't have to be helpful or considerate. read more

Massive integrity! My Ford F350 pickup was towed in from the side of the freeway when I thought I blew a transmission while towing a 6x12 U-Haul trailer across the Grapevine. As it turned out the turbo charger blow a clamp that holds the air intake in place. The vacuum leak caused a bunch of safety switches to engage and throw the pickup into a false neutral to self protect. These guys could have burned me for a $5000 transmission and I never would have been the wiser. But instead he took the high road and spoke only the truth. I was charged only for the inspection (very appropriate) and for a hose clamp. Now he didn't have that specific, specialized clamp in stock, but he installed the heaviest duty regular hose clamp he could find and got me back on the road in under an hour. I drove the rig (GENTLY) all the way to Sacramento with this work-around fix working very successfully. Oh! he even had one of his crew help me reconnect the trailer to my truck. I was treated with the highest integrity and understanding friendliness. I HIGHLY recommend Lyon's Auto Center for any local or emergency repairs. Thank You. read more

Numerous trips back and forth, a rebuilt engine, and THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS later, they could only tell me that they have no idea what the problem could be.
