Nicely baked and seasoned to pair with bread/garlic toasts. The calamari was average. Slightly soggy when served and portion size a bit small. This is a Michelin Bib Gourmand restaurant. I've been here several times in the past and this was my first time post-pandemic. It still does not disappoint! I went with a larger group for lunch and we got there close to opening. There are no reservations, so if you have a larger group, I definitely would recommend that you either go during off times or get there early. Service was great. This establishment is small to medium sized parties friendly! Now for the food: I almost picked the pumpkin ravioli however was told that it was a bit sweet so therefore went with another ravioli! The wait for a table is always long at this place. I frequently pass by and always see a gathering of people outside. They do not take reservations and the wait times are from 30 minutes up to an hour during peak times. So, that's the worst of it. When you are finally seated you are treated to quick and efficient service. The yummy food, that is toally worth the wait, comes out of the kitchen quick! But all this quick and efficient service means they are looking to turn the table over quickly. We did not at all feel rushed. But, you kind of sense a tiny but of pressure to "sit, eat, drink, and don't linger on the merriment cause we have people waiting for the table". No doubt I will be back. It was good, but I had to eat it with bread because it was so rich. The waiter recommended the Agnolotti Ossobuco and it did not disappoint. Cesare salad: very different than a conventional Caesar salad, well balanced of acidity and fat, great flavors and refreshing. Liked the very crunchy ciabatta crumbs, very nice touch and texture. 3. Bigoli Della Nonna: delicious, rich in flavors but not overwhelming. Liked the texture of little meat chunks in stead of traditional ground beef. Can't beat the homemade Venetian Spaghetti. 4. Bianchi & Neri: I asked for Bianchi pasta only. The dish was very good but not a WOW factor as reviews said. I could add some fermented black garlic bits or thin garlic slices. Pancetta bits could be abit bigger to be noticeable in appearance and bites. 5. Frutti di Mare: I got a taste from my friend, thought it was my favorite. Well balanced of flavors and taste, seafood seemed very fresh, Pomodoro was bright but not acidic and had a natural tomato sweetness. 6. Lasagna: got a tiny bite from another friend, it was very delicious and got so much flavors. The service was very good. Staff picked up soiled plates tentatively, and food came out promptly. There is a parking structure right next to the restaurant, $22 for 1-10hrs but you get $6 off after validated by the restaurant. Or you can park a block away on Broadway for $10. I have been wanting to try Maccheroni Republic and finally got a chance to this past week. We came on a Thursday night and didn't have reservations, but they were able to seat us within 10 minutes of putting our names on the list. We ordered the gnocchi special and the pappardelle with boar ragu and both dishes were delicious. I would say I've had better versions of the boar ragu, but the pappardelle noodles themselves were absolutely perfect. The gnocchi was next level. Perfectly pillowy, the sauce was incredible. We each ordered a glass of wine which was the perfect accompaniment. Our server let us try several wines to find the perfect one. He was so great the whole night, never rushed us. The entrance isn't facing the street, so you enter from the street and step into an "alley" for a few steps and turn left. We were seated fairly quickly then had the food come out quickly as well. I had ordered the tortelloni filled with spinach and ricotta and my husband ordered the pappardelle alfredo. His notes were that the alfredo and noodles were all tasty and not too heavy, but the chicken pieces were plain. After watching a "Here Lies Love" show at Mark Taper Forum in DTLA, this place was recommended by my AI app. So we headed there and it was a few minutes drive from the Ahmanson Theater. Since it was an early dinner at around 3:40, there was no waiting and we got seated right away. The food was delicious and the ambiance was very pleasant. We ordered and shared their signature dish Bianchi and Neri and Frutti di Mare and both hit the spot. The serving was generous and also on the wine which I noticed every place we eat they cut down on the wine serving but not this place. Service was very good. The place got filled up in an hour and by the time we left, there was a long line outside already. Parking is right next to it but it is a little expensive and they validated $6 out of the $20 parking fee. Best Italian in the city. This was the first restaurant I tried when I moved to downtown in 2021 and I've never had a bad meal. The food is always exquisite. The service is incredible. There is indoor and outdoor seating which both have a very laid back and hip vibe that contrasts perfectly with the classic fresh Italian cuisine. I decided to check this italian restaurant as it had great reviews. Unfortunately I wasn't a fan of their food and service. I had a pasta with burata cheese I like my pasta a dente but instead it tasted plastic and the sauce had a bland taste was supposed to creamy in a light tomatoe sauce but it tasted more like water down tomatoes sauce. They do not hold back on the garlic, oil, butter and everything else they put on that bread. It was toasted to perfection. I also ordered the shrimp and bacon pasta. I expected larger pieces of bacon rather than crumbly pieces that reminded me of the bacon bits. The pasta, however, was outstanding. It was so smooth and the texture was delightful. The pasta wasn't seasoned very well so I put a lot of salt to get it to how I'd like. Still you couldn't really taste the pesto much, a bit disappointing. The chicken on the other hand was cooked and seasoned well. The tiramisu (2/5) was too wet. They poured too much coffee and the ladyfingers was just soaking in it. The ladyfingers were wet like sponge and had terrible texture. If it wasn't so wet it would have been a good tiramisu imo. Overall a nice restaurant with great service. Period. There's complimentary bread that comes at the beginning of your meal, and there's olive oil and balsamic vinegar. We ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer and it was delicious. There were big pieces of calamari and it tasted great. It came with a red pepper aioli which was unique. For one of our mains, we ordered a Bianchi & Neri, which is their signature dish and its certainly a great dish of theirs. I liked it the best. My wife chose the Bianchi & Neri - organic high mountain & amber durum black and white spaghetti with shrimp, wild mushrooms, and roasted pancetta in a creamy bisque. This was my favorite dish, and it's their most popular for good reason. My daughter ordered the Boccoletti Al Pesto E Ricotta - farro, high mountain, Khorasan, and amber durum long curly pasta with homemade basil pesto and creamy ricotta. It tasted very fresh and light. All the pastas were amazing and the portions were generous. The restaurant is located across the street from Grand Central Market on the Broadway side. There's a huge parking lot on site, but it can be expensive even with the validation. There's also plenty of street parking and cheaper lots if you're willing to walk a block.
