We love the burger varieties and the ability to substitute. We've been coming here for sometime and are never disappointed.

I love the burgers at MacGregor. I can't believe It has taken me this long to write a review. This is a great spot for a quick lunch and we have always dined and left in under an hour. The bar is also a local hangout and they have plenty of beer on draft. There are televisions and seating in the main room or in the bar. The servers are always friendly and we love coming here for lunch on Fridays. The burger is my first choice and it is always cooked to perfection and served with fresh fries. Someone told me they are the same owners as Sawmill Taproom and I do notice a few similarities. Lunch is under $10 and a great choice when in the MacGregor area. read more

I sat at the bar the bartenders were great super nice. I got the fish and chips. The fish was moist, flaky, not a fan of the tartar sauce or the chips. The pickle chips were standard fried pickles no complaints. The ambiance reminds me of a sports bar or a dive bar super causal. read more

First of all, let's make sure you're coming to MDH for the right reason. Are you out to drink beer, watch a game served by a very nice hostess in booty shorts, and have the tab being surprisingly cheap? MDH is essentially a local dive bar, the alcoholic equivalent of a well worn shoe that feels comfortable and isn't there to impress you or act as your backdrop for date night. But MDH is on the happier side of being a dive bar in that it isn't filthy and the food is sometimes better than passable bar food. But for goodness sake, don't come here expecting high cuisine. I've been here multiple times. When I'm there, I'm not there to impress people. I'm here to hang out in my comfortable shoe of a bar and get a Monday buzz going. If I wanted something nicer, I'd go to one of the two Doherty's. Again, this bar has a time and a place. And every week has a Monday. read more

A decent, but also a "ho hum" nothing special type of independent sports bar in suburban Raleigh that you could probably guess 90% of the menu of before even walking in the front door. Can you say burgers, nachos, wings, chicken tenders, etc? Yep, you must have ESP, as that is exactly what they have here. Not that this is necessarily a bad thing. You do not have to reinvent the wheel to make me happy, but nothing about what I had here was particularly memorable. Even now, only a few days later, my visit seems more like a vague memory of my last drunk dial. The decor here is pretty schizophrenic, which is hard not to notice. It seems like a picture of one of the walls could be used as an album cover for an Emo band. I was really hungry from traveling most of the day on an empty stomach from an early AM flight, so I ordered like I was in training for a pie eating contest. Appetizer (motz sticks), house salad with ranch, and a burger and fries that I tore through pretty ravenously. It satisfied my hunger, and nothing was particularly bad, it was just that nothing was noteworthy. On the positive side of things, prices here are cheap and the service was quite prompt. In fact, smoking hot waitress was extremely personably and chatty. In fact, If I was just a few more degrees North on the "typical male"-o-meter, I would probably cap an additional star for the hot girl alone. But alas, just like Doc Holiday's character in Tombstone, my hypocrisy only goes so far. The buiz associate I came out here to meet lives just down the street from this place. Since it is one of his favorite hangouts, I am sure I will be back here the next time I am in town. This is not a bad thing in the least, since everything was, as Yelp says "A-OK". And who knows? Stopped by on a Sunday for a couple of drinks with my date. Prices were pretty normal, maybe even a little cheaper than other places around especially for Jack. This was a small stop during a shopping excursion. Place has expanded quite a bit since the last time I was there. A large dining section on one side and a bar on the other. There were not a lot of patrons there. Three behind the bar and a few servers. Bar was maybe 1/3 full if that. Bartenders were generally pleasant when they came around. They seemed pre-occupied with busy work and cell phones and I had to flag them down on more than one occasion to get more drinks. They were very pleasant when engaged but with 3 on job and less than 1/3 full, I expected to be checked on a little more frequently. Dining was pretty empty except for a few people sitting outside on their nice patio area. Ordered some kind of egg rolls that had shaved beef, cream cheese and a horseradish. Sounded so good! After about 30 minutes of sitting at the bar talking we realized the food had not arrived yet. I asked about the food and she checked the computer and realized she never entered it. She was very sincerely apologetic and said they come out fast so she would order them. Well they came out fast and tasted like they would have been pretty good if they hadn't rushed the frying in order to get them out quicker. A few extra minutes would not have hurt me and now I'm eating soggy egg rolls. I am not saying I would not come back here but I certainly wouldn't add it to my go to places when on this side of town. I give full 5 stars! We had a party of 8, including my 2 year old twins, and I had the Pork Butt Mac n' Cheese with the Fortnight Coffee Amber. It... Was... Delicious! It had 1/2 lb of pulled pork on it with sure dried tomatoes and oh my gosh it was way too much for me to eat but obviously was taken with to go for later! Some other dishes my family got were the bison brisket burgers and the Hollywood Salad... Both great! As for the service, that was great too! Just as it should be. The manager was immediately super nice and brought my kids' meals out first. So important! Overall great experience for our first time visit! Will come back next we visit Cary! read more

I enjoyed our weekend visit to MacGregor Draft House! I had the turkey reuben, which was very good. They had a nice variety of sides to choose from. After walking thru the Chinese Lantern Show/event my friend and I were looking for a place to grab a bite to eat for dinner. I thought of Macgregors draft house recalling my previous visits here a long time ago. It was close and I figured the menu provided good variety for my undecided friend. I went to the restaurant thinking that I wanted a burger. My friend seemed impressed by the menu and struggled with deciding on his meal after narrowing it down to a few options. I got myself the bison burger and the flavor was on point! I added Swiss cheese, onions and mushrooms and it was delish. He ordered the salmon crab cake meal which cam with broccoli-someone was much healthier in his choice! I don't do salmon, but had the chance to sample the crab cake and it was delish! I almost forgot that he ordered buffalo shrimp as an appetizer-a must have in my opinion! The portion size was very generous and they had amazing flavor! I sipped on water while he had Long Island iced teas which he seemed to be impressed with. We had a great meal in a comfy relaxed atmosphere with an attentive server! I don't even know where to begin. This is basically a "Cheers" bar. If you come more than one time, they'll know your name. They're always friendly. The food is always good. Everyone is awesome. I was here on a work assignment for 3 months and this bar was basically my go to place. I wish I could take this bar back home with me. So i don't come here for the atmosphere, i come here for the burgers. In particular, the "east coast" burger (grilled onions & mushrooms) with a slice of cheese and their bacon cheese fries. When I first walked in I was greeted by a hostess, there were three young women standing there only one greeted me which was fine. It was an awkward silence after the greet, two ladies forced the lady that greeted me to take me to a seat. I am assuming these ladies are new to working in a restaurant setting. I was overcharged for a take out meal by $7. Spree, the girl that answered the phone was and still is lost when it comes to understanding the menu. My complaint is not with her. Ownership needs to buy better steaks, season your veggies and don't break a bake potato in half and call it mashed potatoes. Management tried to over charge me by $11 and I explained that I didn't order meat in my salad and they cut $4 and I paid the additional $7 with no argument and this made my first visit my last. Our first time here and they checked all of our boxes. Waite staff was excellent. Food was very good to excellent just not memorable. Patty Melt - The burger and rye bread were excellent but cheese and onions were not favorable. I eat lunch here at least twice a month, sometimes once a week. It's a great place to go for lunch or for drinks after work. There are beer specials every day of the week. There are HDTVs everywhere. My favorites are the buffalo chicken wrap (I've memorized how I order it: hot, blue cheese, with a side salad and honey mustard), the Texas Reuben, and the burgers (El Paso or California). I've had almost everything on the menu. You can't go wrong. It's just plain good comfort food. There are about 6 other restaurants (including the Village Draft House in Cameron Village) that have the same menu. If you're looking typical an all-Americana style sports bar, with no frills, Macgregor Draft House is your place. If you are a card carrying member of the gluten-free gang or have a refined palate, this is not your place. You'll be limited to a burger (sans the bun) or a salad and we're all just about sick of that option. So, of course, I ordered the burger w/o the bun w/o a side salad. It was fine. They do have something kinda fun called 'sweet tots', which ware simply sweet potato tots, which are quite addictive. They have Titos vodka and a decent alcohol selection. We went on a Monday night I think and they were having trivia night, which was pretty fun. Heck, even I knew a few of the answers. This is not a fancy place, with a fancy menu. Don't ask a date here. More of a meet the guys spot, but don't expect big TV's like the chains. Still not a bad spot. read more

I was here yesterday afternoon to attend a memorial for a friend who happened to be a regular here (amongst other places). Jeremy Fisher, who works here, set aside the bar area as a gathering place for attendees of which there were approximately 200. As the bar area was completely packed full the staff did an excellent job ensuring all had a Pabst Blue Ribbon in hand (the drink of choice for the person being remembered). The outside patio was set up as a grilling/eating area for the attendees. Very nicely set up for this event. Look for a signed Green Bay shirt to be hung up at some point soon. I must say- I love the draft house! They always have wonderful brews, and many to choose from. Their bartenders are extremely sweet & helpful. Their food is great- a bit better than just "bar food" if you ask me. They also have half-orders of some of their appetizers, which I appreciate tremendously! Had dinner last night for our date night. The draft beer specials were Turbo Dog and Yuengling. We had the Turbo Dog and it was very good and nice and cold. We sat at a nice booth and were very comfortable. Both our Server and the hostess were very nice. I had the PeCran Salad with grilled Salmon on Top and Raspberry Vinaigrette. The fish was good (not Babymoon good but good) and the salad was very nice - I felt filled and satisfied but not stuffed. My husband had the Black and Blue Salad also with Salmon on top. He had the blue cheese dressing which he said was very good. We had an enjoyable meal and were able to talk and chat and relax. read more

I discovered this place mostly because my parents happened to get a hotel room just about across the street from here. We stopped in here for lunch. NC State was playing. BELIEVE me, you would not have missed that. Aside from the random yelling, I had a really nice time here. We came here on a Saturday for lunch. They had some nice specials going on that day, including all their seasonals. Their beer selection is pretty good - they have a nice selection of craft beers, sampling heavily from the local options. Nothing terribly uncommon, but solid options all around. I had ribs for lunch (they were on special). They were pretty good and SUPER tender, but not the best (but what would you expect from a bar like this?). Other food I tried was also solid, though nothing terribly exceptional. One of the things I absolutely loved was the vibe of the place. It had just a bit of a divey feel to it without going into the subpar range. Food is always good, at Macgregor, and I love the focus on customer service. However, there is a point when customer service becomes annoying and overbearing. Today, four of us went in for lunch. We had at least three different people who were helping with our table. Two of us arrived early and informed the first person who came by that we were going to have two additional people joining us. She quickly brought back our drinks and asked if we were ready to order. We are talking less then two minutes from walking in the door. I explained again, we were waiting for two more. A second person came by less then a minute later asking the same thing. Had to explain again, a third time we were waiting for two more. The two additional people to our party joined and again we begin this sheraid of telling multiple different people either what we wanted or we were all set. When you're trying to enjoy a meal with friends being interrupted constantly becomes increasingly irritating. Again, love the focus on the customer, but there is a happy medium between good service and being annoying. After today, I wouldn't want to go back unless I am grabbing carryout. read more
