    Chicken Tacos
    Courtnay B.

Love coming here for trivia night. Tonight I had the $4 margarita special and the chicken tacos. Both were good, but the tacos were kinda cold and chicken was a little dry. I really liked the green sauce they were topped. We were seated for 10-15 minutes without service, but once we found someone to wait in us, our order was taken and food and drinks came out quickly. Overall, it's exactly the 3.4 stars that Yelpers have given it as of this review.

    Onion Rings

Ehhhh this is a pass for me in the future. It's in a shopping center and parking is easy. There are very defined bar and restaurant sides and an outdoor patio area. We were immediately sat and the server was kind and friendly-his first day out of training and he did well! The menu is typical bar food but seems like the POS isn't super user friendly. Our food was super quick-I will say our kid's chicken tenders arrived immediately and were great. Our orders were messed up a bit, and the server who delivered them was not happy about that. The worst part of the meal-was the onion rings. They had almost no batter and were so soggy. They were awful. There just aren't any memorable things about this spot to entice our return.

Classic Cobb Salad with a Twist

My book club decided to try this place out for one of our meetings. The environment was welcoming, seating was comfortable and the service was good. I ordered the onion rings and the Classic Cobb Salad with a Twist (ranch instead of the green goddess dressing). Let's start with the onion rings. They were great. The batter was crispy and I was able to bite through the batter and onion itself. The salad was also delicious. I loved the combination of ingredients-chicken, avocado, boiled egg and blue cheese crumbles. I was a little confused because I ordered ranch dressing but the lettuce was tossed in a vinaigrette dressing and the ranch was on the side. I'll be sure to mention no vinaigrette next time. Other than that, the Macgregor Draft House is a nice place to grab a good meal and catch up with friends.

Prompt service We sat and was attended to immediately. I wasn't that hungry and ordered a salad. I got the candied pear salad Delicious and fresh vegetables topped with grilled chicken. And I also got an iced tea. The servers' attention to detail was great!

First time trying this place and it was a fun night. I met a group here and the service was great. We had a comfy booth and everyone enjoyed their meals. I ordered the Cobb salad and it was full of the usual items with this salad. Our server checked on us many times to make sure we didn't need anything and we were never felt rushed to leave.

    Steak Melt

My family & I have been going here for years. Today we ordered 3 steak melts $16 each (yes expensive) & each one was slightly different. I was told this was a delicious sandwich, worth the price because of the amount of meat you get. They did great on accommodating each sandwich order but that's where it stops. When my steak melt without onions arrived, I checked the sandwich to make sure it was correct. I found HUGE wads of fat on both sides of my sandwich. You know when you get a large piece of beef maybe for pot roast and see a nice thick, round chunk of fat - it helps with flavor but you don't serve this to people. Apparently the cooks at MacGregor Draft House feel differently. The fat on my sandwich came to 2oz of solid fat. Yes, I picked any & all meat I could. Chefs simply take two forks to pull the fat away from the meat, especially when the meat is as tender- it doesn't take much effort at all. The meat didn't have flavor, definitely needed seasoning. Because the cooks decided these HUGE chunks were "edible" & slapped them on the sourdough, the bread absorbed ALL of the grease- making it soggy and disgusting. Nor was the bread actually toasted. I'm beyond upset over paying for literal fat sandwich. I get we are in a difficult economy but that makes it even more important to serve people proper food and exactly what they pay for. I will not return to MacGregor Draft House. Honestly, I'd like a refund but I highly doubt MacGregor draft house would do it. All I could eat in the end was the meat. So upsetting- DO BETTER! Photos: untoasted bread, all the fat, proof of the weight- yes the bowl weight was tared out, how much meat was left & you can see how soggy the bread.

Monday night dinner. "Below Deck" on screen

The good value pricing raises my review to a 4. Was staying at the Marriott across the street for a week, ended up going here for 6 nights due to the sheer convenience. Service is hit and miss, but be sure to ask about the daily drink specials which are a great deal. The chicken breasts and steamed vegetables was the best dinner. I had most things on the menu. The lighting is too bright for a bar though, but there are plenty of TVs to watch all the sports on. A server even put "Below Deck" on for me haha. No volume of course. All in all it's a good sports bar but it could be a little more divey in a good way. Go Canes Go !

We love the burger varieties and the ability to substitute. We've been coming here for sometime and are never disappointed.

Very rude and took 3 hours to get served. Also 3 of our group ended up sick with food poisoning.

Worst (cold) nachos ever! Service slow and not very friendly at the door or the bar. Spent $60 on below average appetizers.

I have never been to a restaurant where the only time the waitress talked to us was when we ordered. Food not great either but ok.

The bar tender helped me right away and was super friendly and helpful. Found out he is an army vet (thank you for your service sir! ) and had been working in the food industry ever since. I ordered a tasty local IPA and the half sandwich and soup meal. Got the melted cheddar and turkey sandwich with a cup of their house made chili. The chili was fantastic, could've used a bit more portion wise, but I'll let that go. Sandwich was good too. The beer was super fresh. The bar tender told me they just had their lines cleaned out. Lot to be said for a bar that stays on top of that. Would make a menu suggestion to the good folks at Carolina Ale....French Dip....just saying....I think you guys could knock that one outta the ballpark! Bottom line, great lunch, great service! Will definitely be back!

We were seated at two large tables outside (covered patio). We had one server but she did a great job the entire night, getting all of our app, drink, and meal orders and checking back regularly to keep our plates and glasses full. We started with some nachos, cheese curds, fried pickles, and dips, as well as a variety of beers, wines, and cocktails (mostly margaritas). I originally ordered the cajump shrimp pasta, but it turned out they were completely out of pasta that night, so I pivoted to the steak salad. I enjoyed sampling the appetizers - all of them were tasty, hefty portions perfect for sharing. I was already full before the entree salad, and when that came out, I knew I wasn't even going to make a dent in it. I had a few bites before boxing up, but the steak was cooked nicely (medium) and overall, it was definitely a tasty salad. This was a good spot for a relaxed and informal teambuilding week kickoff event. Bonus points for being walkable from our hotel! @azfitfoodfun

The menu online as I write says the 12 oz. 28 day aged ribeye is $29.89 including grilled mushrooms, roasted vegetables and mashed potatoes. I recall being slightly disappointed that baked potatoes were no longer an option, but the food was so good, that was not an issue. Service was good, the food was good. I thought it was worthy of the occasion. I have been to this store on at least 6-8 previous visits, although I did not usually get steak. I usually got one of their sandwiches. I liked all those I've had. There is another CAH closer to me that gets terrible reviews. It's worth it to me to drive a little further and go to a store that has given me good food and service on multiple occasions.

Carolina Ale House Review - 3/5…read more It was our last day in town, and we wanted something quick while still getting a taste of some local favorites. Since Carolina Ale House was close to where we were staying, we decided to give it a try. The atmosphere definitely had that classic ale house vibe, with plenty of local beers on tap along with other familiar beer options. It felt like a nice casual spot to unwind and grab a bite. We all ordered something different, which was nice for variety. I had the hibachi shrimp, while the others had tacos with chips, and my son kept it simple with chicken tenders and fries. The food overall was okay, but my dish was a little disappointing. Everything on my plate--between the soup, pilaf rice, broccoli, and shrimp--seemed to carry almost the exact same flavor, so I didn't really get to enjoy the distinct hibachi taste I was expecting. One highlight for me was definitely the spicy margarita--the flavor was delicious. My husband also really enjoyed the "Ale Yeah" 16 oz. Bloody Mary along with one of the local North Carolina draft beers, which was a nice touch. Our server, Trevan, did a great job taking care of us. He was accommodating, attentive, and made sure we had what we needed throughout our visit, which we appreciated. Overall, I'd rate this place a 3/5. It was a decent stop for a casual meal and drinks, but the food could have had a bit more flavor separation and wow factor
