My daughter's butter pasta was a big bowl of nice, buttery fettuccine that she devoured. The club sandwich is a tasty classic, served with house-made potato chips that are super crispy and addicting. My favorite bite, though, was my black and bleu burger. I'm a sucker for this particular type of burger and this rendition was one of my favorites - big juicy patty, plenty of funky bleu cheese, super fresh veg, and a homemade roll that held up nicely to all the deliciousness. The side salad was LOADED with veggies (just how I like it!) and the raspberry vinaigrette was so good, I could drink it. We took home a homemade lemon cookie with cream cheese frosting that was flipping outstanding. At the end of it all, I was super happy with how reasonably priced everything was, especially for the quality and portion. In…read moreour recent trip to Maine, despite having done loads of internet investigations to find the best coffee shops, we had both hits and misses - some great coffee drinks, and some that were really poor (i.e., weak, luke warm, etc.). Our coffee drinks at Grounded were among the best we've had in Maine - or anywhere, for that matter! Grounded is a relatively new coffee shop located about a mile north of Wiscasset on Gardiner Road (Route 27). You won't see it if you are walking around the cute little village of Wiscasset, but it is definitely worth the short drive out of town. The flat white that we ordered was made exactly as we had requested - hot and strong! They use coffee from a roaster called Coffee on the Porch, which we had heard great things about, but had not previously tried. The flat white was rich, smooth, and flavorful. I should also mention the excellent service and attitude of owner Kalei. The shop was actually closed when we arrived, due to Kalei having been at a special event in town earlier that day, but she opened the shop for us, kindly made us an exceptional flat white, and chatted with us about her new shop. The coffee was so rich and satisfying, BUT THE BAGEL. Omg, the quality of that bagel was beyond description. Freshly made, the egg was a fresh cracked one and the bacon done perfect and savory. The veg cream cheese that is used tasted just made as well. the gentleman making it was so sweet and the lady who took my order was wonderful. First - it is super cute. With a mix of community tables, counter seating, and even one very cozy looking chair (I say looking because it was occupied and I was unable to plunk myself down and enjoy my book - which it was beckoning me to do). They have an extensive coffee menu and use their own roasted beans. I went with a standard coffee but did upgrade to maple syrup for my sweetener. (Anyone who knows me knows this alone won me over!) And, if you eat in - your coffee comes in a beautiful real mug! They have decent bakery case which is stocked with pastries from Two Fat Cats and bagels from Rose Foods! That's right - you can get a Rose Food bagel without the hassle of parking on Forest Ave in Portland. I got the Mystery Spice (old bay seasoning) and enjoyed half with Olive Cream Cheese and the other with Herbed. Clearly they make the cream cheeses here in house and they are delicious. The place seems pretty popular as there were many people here on a Thursday morning. Already planning a trip back here with a friend for a little remote work day!

You get that cute ice cream shop feel when you walk in. We love having both soft serve and hard ice cream options and the rest of the menu is endless -- so many choices outside just ice cream, from shakes to sundaes plus more! There are always new flavors to try whenever we come in! There is seating both inside and outside with plenty of parking along the sides of the building and in back. You order at counter and food is brought to your table. The food was delicious and portions were generous. Atmosphere keeps the conversation and eyes going. Very clever and fun. Even the dishware was fun. Second trip we decided to try the high tea service. A menu of assorted teas and a prefixed food menu. My daughter made reservations and prepaid for our lunch ahead of time. We discussed price point and we believed it to be $48 a couple because who goes to tea alone? Turns out it was $41 per person. This is steep for lunch especially considering what it includes. Tea, a tower of treats; this works out to be 2- half sandwiches each (chicken and cucumber and whipped feta) a very small egg salad on 2-3 bite croissant, a scone with fixings and about 2-3 quarter sized macarons per person. This is very not nearly as generous as their daily menu portions. We had a reserved table and a waitress took our tea order from the table and delivered all items to the table except any napkins or utensils. We still needed to go get them from a centrally located area for diners. Our waitress was very sweet but obviously inexperienced and wasn't clear on how the high tea worked and it took about 40 minutes just to get the tea. Most disappointing was the bread. It was very dry and crumbly so sandwiches were falling or crumbling apart as we ate them. So as far as value is concerned, the high tea was not a good value in my opinion.
