This is probably one of the best coffee shops I've been to in Miami. This gem is located in Doral and I happened to stumble across it looking for a place to have a late breakfast with my friend. I walk in to find a very welcoming atmosphere. It's a super cozy place with a lot of coffee related decor. They have a large chalkboard listing their menu items. Now let me get into the details of their food and coffee. We started off ordering tequeños and a beef empanada to share as an appetizer. I then ordered the omelette and my friend ordered a breakfast wrap (el gringo). We also got to try their Avocado Toast and Açaí bowl. I have to say their food looked colorful, tasted super fresh and full of flavor. You can truly tell they strive for perfection and every plate is made with love and time. For coffee we ordered lattes; I had their caramel latte with regular milk and it was so good! The latte art was beautiful too! We couldn't leave without taking something sweet for later. I ended up ordering their guava coconut cookie and a coconut cake. They both were delicious! The service was wonderful, the staff was friendly and so helpful. I had the pleasure of speaking with Carlos who helped us decide on what to order. Then I met Olga who came by to make sure everything came out perfect and was to our liking. She was very sweet and attentive. She advised us that they have live music on certain days and that they soon would be having other events for the summer. I saw someone say this place was in a sketchy strip mall and I'm very confused?? It's across from the police department and in a perfectly normal little row of shops. Not sketchy in the least but ok. Anyway, I was craving a great coffee and stumbled across this place on a quick trip to Miami. It's such a cute little place and I was able to get what was absolutely one of the best frappes I've ever had. We stopped here on a Saturday morning and the line was out the door and all tables were full. Service was a little slow, but there was no shortage of quality so the wait was worth it. I had a caramel frappe, which I've often found can be too sweet. Not so with this one, the caramel was definitely an afterthought, which in my opinion is how it should be. I was delighted with it. Also had the cheese arepa - think corn cake grilled cheese, gooey on the inside, crisp on the outside, and the açaí bowl. Both very tasty. My wife and I were craving some breakfast and found Macondo on Yelp. The food here is so delicious and tastes very authentic. The ambiance is very nice and the staff helped us with our choices. I ordered the açaí bowl and it was really good! High quality fruits and delicious oats and coconut flakes were the toppings. I also ordered the Mochaccino which is creamy and delicious with a cute design on the foam of the coffee. Yum! This place is a bit pricey but definitely worth it for the freshness and consistency. The portions of the sandwiches exceeded my expectations. I had the italian chicken and it was great, even the bread was soft and fresh. My pumpkin spice latte (what can I say? I get festive around this time of year) was also delicious. I ordered online which was painless and when I arrived 20 minutes later my sandwich was ready in a container in a large paper bag that kept it orderly and warm. They made my latte right on the spot. Macondo's is definitely one of my favorite quick breakfast spots in Miami. There's a large verity of options so everyone can be happy and everything is amazing so I'll list out my go tos for you all! Egg and cheese sandwich: this sandwich you can choose the bread and you can add protein if you would like. I normally get it on the croissant which is flaky and buttery and just so amazing and I add ham. The eggs are cheesy and fluffy and when you add a protein they don't hold back and add a pretty good amount! Fabios favorite: this is a fried egg on top of a toasted baguette topped with avocado, feta cheese, cherry tomatoes and presto. This breakfast is nice and light but so so flavorful. There's so much going on between the creamy avocado and the shaft feta with the runny egg yolk and the toasted baguette.. just YUM. Empanadas: Ham and cheese: this is always my type of favorite empanada and Macondo's doesn't disappoint. The cheese is oozy and yummy and there's lots and lots of diced ham. It's crunchy on the outside and just so good! Defiantly try this when you go! Spinach and cheese: I'm just a cheese lover so this one is also on my list of go tos for empanadas. Again the cheese is creamy and oozing and the outside is super crunchy. They get all their coffee beans from Colombia and roast them themselves. Me being a sort of chatty Cathy, I found out from the cashier they actually fly the beans from Colombia into Miami Airport, which is close to Doral. Despite the name they have a really extensive menu. My favorites are the different variations on grilled chicken, both sandwich combinations and salads. Everything here tastes incredibly fresh, and they don't skimp on ingredients. For this high-quality food, the prices are very reasonable. Service is always charming and friendly. It's creamy and has the perfect balance of milk and coffee (they offer alternatives to regular milk). This is the second time that I go to Macondo in the last two weeks ,I frequent Macondo pretty often and finally made the time to write a review .Their food options are varied and healthy. They are doing a great job during these challenging times in accommodating people in the outside area but I really hope that they can soon serve inside as the best part of going to Macondo is enjoying a coffee and having that feeling of being in a Colombian town.
