What in the world did I just eat?! This was so good! I stopped in here with my kids, they wanted some chicken tenders and a place saying "pub 'n grub" on the sign looked like my best bet. Our server, Joseph, was super nice and friendly; this is really geared for adults and I had my kids with me and he was great with them. We started with the fried Mac & cheese bites and the fried pickles, both were winners. The kids both had chicken tenders; they are listed as appetizers but the size is so big these are shareable for 3-5 adults as appetizers or make a whole meal with food to spare (each kid brought home boxes). I had the Chicago Italian Beef sandwich. I have wanted to try one of these for ages; despite a few trips to Chicago over the years I just never had the chance. So glad I did! The meet was incredible and the flavor was off the charts, very spicy and I loved it! I also had a bowl of the stew which I loved too. Great flavor. And my total bill for this feast was $66 before tip, making this one of the most affordable places to eat on the peninsula. Mac's is a great place! J.Ja

We hit Mac's Place for late night drinks after a fun evening eating our way through downtown. it's located on East Bay across from the courthouse and it is a happening busy dive bar. To be located in the height of the tourist area of downtown Charleston, this bar is frequented by locals for sure. It has a plethora of booths and hightops along with a long bar. They have some arcade machines to add to the fun and vibe of the whole evening. we had a blast here. It was so much fun, so chill and relaxed. The staff were super efficient and helpful and the customers ranged from people having dinner to people having drinks, both locals and tourists. No expectations... just a place to hang and have fun. Delightful.

Yeah sorry 1 star is a gift. Stopped in Saturday night. Third trip here, waited to review for a better experience. The good: great place for sports . Many screens to watch. Day bartenders are great. It ends there. When we walked in the day shift left and night bartenders took over...We waited 15 minutes for the bartender to look our way to flag down the guy for a drink. 10 minutes later we eanted to order a snack, we waited 10 minutes to get his attention again. Bartender seemed highly insulted we waved him down. Hold on, it gets worse... the cleaner cut bartender comes over to explain to the the people next to us he was upset about the peacock network who changed the second game. He was complaining he had to switch around the HDMI cables so he let everyone know "the f***ing station could suck his d**k" with many more F bombs in his building sentences...wow, just wow. 12 years in the food service industry and never heard something so rude right in front of the older women beside us. The one woman turned beat red. We're not talking about 12am where there are all young kids in the bar. This was 630p at night. Families were sitting around watching the game. Plain rude and obnoxious. We ordered the cheese stuffed pretzel...it was hollow. No cheese...see the picture. In conclusion, I will never step in this place at night again. I'll go back during the day when the girls tend bar and the service is way better. **Nothing to do with the review: For information only: they do not allow concealed carry so leave your firearm home or don't go **

5 stars because they were so accommodating for our party, which included 4 toddlers. Our server was awesome and was so great at accommodating our party, despite our craziness. We couldn't have asked for a better experience. I had the fish and chips, which were good, nothing spectacular, but the sweet potato tots and the cinammon butter that come with them-- those are a must try!!

My two adult sons and I tried this place today for the first time. Living in Charleston we are making an attempt to try new places instead of continuing to eat at the same ones all the time. Mac's was pretty decent. We loved the atmosphere of the place. The replica hover board of Back to The Future with a News Article of Marty McFly Jr getting arrested. It was clean, not crowed and the service was excellent. Our Waiter did an outstanding job. The Food- We started with the Fried Pickles. We Love Fried Pickles and make it a point to try them wherever we go if they have them. Theirs were really good. The pickle was sliced thick but not too thick. They use higher quality pickle like a Vlasic. The white ones with excellent flavor. They were fried to a crisp and piping hot. Loved them! I ordered the French Dip. I haven't had one in years and wanted to try it. It wasn't bad but it wasn't all that. It had a lot of meat, was really hot and juicy. I just think it was missing some flavor. It needed something. And the hoagie fell apart from all the juice. The Chips were hot and crispy but needed salt. There was no salt on the table and by the time the Waiter came back I was almost done with them. Vinny Jr Got The Southern Style Cuban with Fried Mushrooms. He said the sandwich was good but he wished he would have tried something else. The mushrooms were hot and crispy but a little over breaded for his tastes. Jon- He got a Mac Burger with bacon and fries. He cleaned his plate so I guess it was great. He said it was good. Overall we all enjoyed it. While it has room to improve they are doing an excellent job in atmosphere, service and food. I think we may have found another option as a regular when we want to eat out. The cost was 58.38 cent before tip. We left a little over a 20% so 70 bucks for lunch for three people.

Best decision we made while in Charleston! Popped in because it looked interesting and so glad we did! Service was awesome, the atmosphere and vibe was super cool, lots of wood and character. Hard to pick from all the great menu options, but ordered the open-faced beef brisket and reuben (without bread). Both were excellent!! The skinny pina colada was amazing as well. This place is a must!

We decided to stop by a bar and have a few drinks and thought Mac's Place was the perfect place. It wasn't busy around 2ish. We sat at the bar and the bartender was extremely inviting. He was willing to make any drink we wanted. He was very knowledgeable about various drinks as well. I had a mimosa, my favorite drink and they were very affordable. Unfortunately I didn't eat food so I can't speak to that. If you're in the downtown area stop by and they will surely take care of you!!

We stopped in for lunch and drinks. Sports bar vibe with all the games on TVs around the restaurant. Waiter was attentive, and food was great! ( see pics) Prices were very reasonable, and portions were large!

Went for St. Patrick's Day. The food was average and I can't think of anything really noteworthy to talk about. I wish the menu was bigger.

The bartenders were all friendly and attentive, and I actually had the same bartender twice. He remembered my name when I came back, which was such a nice touch and made me feel really welcome. The drink prices were very reasonable, and on Tuesday night they had live music that was fantastic. I live in San Diego, and it's actually hard to find places that have live music on a random weeknight, so I really appreciated the atmosphere. I didn't try the food, so I can't speak to that. My review is based purely on the drinks, service, and overall vibe, and they absolutely nailed it. If you're looking for a fun, welcoming place to grab a drink and enjoy some live music, I'd definitely recommend stopping by.

We did not order dinner but we shared an order of the beer cheese and pretzels. It was very delicious and the beer cheese was some of the best I've had in recent memory. We ordered a handful of drinks. I had quite a few Guinness and they were reasonably priced. The atmosphere was very nice and lively. My only slight knock is that the service was a little slow. The place was not that busy and I still found myself waiting several minutes to get refills or anything like that. But overall this was good, I would go back in the future

The decor instantly makes me feel at home For those of you who don't know I am Irish. So this review is coming from the true Irish aspect!!! We went for Trivia which is on a a Wednesday night 6:30 PM. It was so much fun. no for the food, it was outstanding our table had sausage rolls to start, the dishes included Guinness burger on ashed potatoes with gravy. OMG I am still drooling. it was quite a large serving and I am happy to report. I lapped it up. My daughter had fish and chips with curry sauce on the chips. Delicious. my son had chicken curry, which was also delicious Someone else at the table had the Irish breakfast, which by the way is served all day it is massive and satisfying, tasty, fresh and has IRELAND written all over it . After dinner, we decided to have a concoction of Irish chocolate bars (made by Cadbury, not Hershey's) along with Tayto crisps. Heaven & so reminiscent of my youth at home. Several Guinness were ordered and each one was an outstanding Pint!!! It truly was a delightful time. The atmosphere and service top notch. I'm so happy this pub is close by (Brickyard Strip Mall). A very happy Irish girl last night. Well done to all involved.
