I was pleased to see the cooks blot the bacon with a towel immediately after taking it off of the grill. It removed the oil and gave the bacon an extra crisp. The pancakes were light and fluffy. We stopped by Mac's for an early breakfast takeout after an appointment. Good thing we did! Their service was fast. We arrived, called our orders and in 5 mins or so everything was ready to go. Big enough portions, warm, and perfectly cooked eggs!!! We ordered short stack with eggs and sausage and eggs, bacon and hash browns. Everything is good, not greasy, well cooked, well prepared and packaged well with condiments etc. There's even 4 bacon strips perfectly crispy!! Their prices are a responsible for the quality of their food. You definitely get what you pay for. I had two eggs with cheese and my wife had their pancakes. She loved them and took half home because the portion. My breakfast was outstanding and I have to say, it was the one of the best I've ever had and I try breakfasts everywhere. It was juicy and full of flavor. They say in the menu that it's ground fresh and never frozen and I can definitely tell. If you are in the area and looking to have good breakfast or lunch, do yourself a favor and stop in and see why they get such great meals. Visiting Great Lakes honoring our Daughters graduation from Navy Boot camp and found this classic breakfast dinner. Mac came to meet guests, and the coffee never ended. Our meals accommodated my vegan daughter while offering me a Denver omelet second to none. Bathroom was clean and the water was warm which was nice since it was kinda cold out. Wow!!! This was probably the best breakfast I have ever had!!! We were on our way to airport and stopped to top off the gas in our rental car, and just happened to notice this gem!! I was going to be in the area for a festival so I thought I would grab some breakfast here, it's from 1959 the menu says so I had to check them out. The place is a small diner like restaurant, deep and narrow. The place has the old school long counter with stools that have backs and booths along the walls. The place is nothing fancy and serves its purpose for what it is. I had plenty of service issues here and they were not intentional, some one just seemed to be plagued with order mistakes. There is a guy behind the counter that was called boss, he personally greets everybody entering and leaving the place. First off my waitress left me there for a good five minutes thinking more people would be coming to the table because the bus boy put many menus/glasses of water on the table, she was waiting for my group to come when there was none. I placed my order and it didn't take very long to come, scrambled eggs and bacon. I told my waitress that's not what I ordered and she took it away and went through her checks. She comes back with over easy eggs, ham, sausage links, crispy hash browns and thick wheat toast. I told her that is not what I ordered either and she starts to take it away again so I tell her stop, no sense in wasting it and I would take it. Now she is super embarrassed and is apologizing non stop for the second wrong breakfast and says I will only be charged for what I ordered and all the extra items are on the house which I said is fare and all is ok. There was nothing that I didn't like in it so this was my new breakfast and I ate it. The ham of the bone was good, three thinner pieces with a not so big a smoke flavor and not cooked dry. The over easy eggs were cooked perfect. The crispy hash browns we're golden/crisp with a soft center. The sausage links were just a little better than average but not the good good ones, not bland but not that big zesty breakfast taste. The wheat toast was toasted perfect and the size of Texas toast, not buttered by the way. Overall it's a decent breakfast diner and I would go back because the people are friendly food is decent. My waitress was super nice and she was very disappointed that she was failing me today with her job performance, her own words and I repeatedly told her that all was ok and don't beat your self up because everything was food that I liked anyway. I'm not going to factor in today's mishaps for this review/rating because my waitress was clearly very disappointed with her performance, even though I have never experienced anything like this I was like shit happens and you didn't do this intentionally to me and she was always willing to correct the issues. Cute and friendly hole-in-the-wall diner. Seating is scarce, but the food comes out pretty quickly. The most you'll spend waiting is ten minutes and it's well worth it money-, quality-, quantity-, and entertainment-wise. As soon as you walk in, the man who I assume is the owner greets and seats you. He has a loud, booming voice and that usually bothers me, but it felt like it belonged. It felt like an owner who wanted to ensure everyone felt welcomed and had a good meal. It was great listening to him and his staff have a go at each other. One of my diner faves is corned beef hash with poached eggs. Saw it on the menu and had to get it. Comes with toast, but the home fries were extra. Let me tell you, nothing tastes better than rye toast with butter from a diner. There's just something about it that just completes the experience. Smear lots of butter on your toast, wait until most of it has melted, and use the tip to break up the egg and release all of that yummy, runny yolk. There's nothing like it. Coworker got coffee and two over-medium eggs with ham and potatoes. She tore through her ham and eggs. Both meals were pretty solid. Can't wait to go back next winter. As other Yelpers have stated, this diner is cash-only. They have an ATM inside, but I don't trust anything that isn't a BoA. If this is the case for you, please bring cash! read more

It was pretty much a bottomless pot of coffee. My one friend was so impressed that the server figured out because she hadn't ordered bread that she didn't want croutons on a salad... Just a small thoughtful attention to detail. The food is good. I loved my Spartan omelette. My friends like their tuna melt and breadless turkey sandwich.
