This review is for the Louis Vuitton store at Macys. I had a great experience shopping at LV due to the excellent fashion expertise of David, who recommended a top handle/charm for extending the strap of a multi-pochette that I was interested in purchasing. That charm makes all the difference because I've never seen anyone with it. I don't know why they make the crossbody straps of the leather multi-pochettes so short. Also, David showed me a strap for my Manhattan GM. Unfortunately, they never made a crossbody strap or hook for the straps on the Manhattan GM, which has been discontinued. Why? That was one of Marc Jacobs best designs! If you are looking for a good SA at LV, ask for David. Right now, Amex is offering an extra point per dollar for purchases at Macys. And this includes purchases at LV. read more

Well. I grew up on the UES, on Fifth Avenue. I know this sounds terribly snobby, but we NEVER shopped at Macy's. Ever. I wore uniforms to school, and summer, weekend, and party clothes, etc, all came from Bonwit Teller, B. Altman, Bloomingdale's, Saks, Lord & Taylor, then Bergdorf and Bendel when I got older. Macy's was the poor cousin, basically. On a par with the long-gone Alexander's and Gimbel's, also places where we didn't shop. I have never been in a Colorado Macy's, either. I used to get my clothes here at Lord & Taylor. Since they, and Loehmann's, closed in CO, I have been buying most of my clothes in New York. I needed to use the ladies' room, so dashed into Macy's. Wow. I was absolutely gobsmacked to see Louis Vuitton and Gucci boutiques on the main floor, along with Longchamps. The ladies' room is downstairs, and there are bridge brands of handbags and accessories, as well as active wear. I was pleasantly surprised, although I do wonder if LV moved here because Henri Bendel and L &T are gone. I don't know, though. Maybe they were always there. Or there a long time. So I can't diss this Macy's, although signs to the ladies' room could be better. I tore myself away from the cosmetics department with great effort. Did not venture upstairs past the main floor. Have no idea if the Colorado stores are equally opulent. Herald Square is the flagship, so maybe not. My only encounter with customer service was when I couldn't find the ladies' room and asked an associate. She didn't speak, just pointed to the other side of the store. Smh. the footprint of department stores seem to be shrinking everywhere. DUH, Ruwan--it's all about digital commerce etc. however the tactility of shopping for things will always reign supreme when it comes to certain shopping categories. don't get me wrong online shopping is convenient and has its place. BUT it's a pleasant surprise that Macy's is fighting the good fight and holds a physical presence on top of its online experience. there's so much packed into this store that i felt like i got a lot of gift shopping done without having to infinitely scroll on my phone and constantly enlarge images to get a sense of whether it was was the right color, item, etc. sometimes just having the item in front of you simplifies decision-making. Macy's, now, seems more organized than years aho...getting around the store can be a tiresome journey because the floors are so expansive and certain areas are pocketed away. overall, the store is really well-maintained for its size. also i didn't realize there were so many places to eat in Macy's. if you're going to spend a day shopping in nyc--sometimes a department store is a quick solution when you don't want to take a Uber, subway, bus, etc. everywhere with a bunch of packages and bags. overall, in terms of winter seasonal clothes--there was a good selection with competitive pricing versus online. and in terms of 34th Street, Macy's still anchors the retail offerings in the Herald Square area. read more

I was in the shoe dept on the 2nd floor at Macys herald Square. What an awful experience. Macys you need to improve on the people you are hiring. I asked for a pair of shoes the girl looked annoyed that I asked her. Then she went across the floor and never came back. I saw her chatting away with her colleague I was left standing waiting for my shoes 20 mins. I then proceeded to ask the cashier she just looked at me like I had four heads. There is a big sign saying this is the biggest store in the world. Macy's was founded in NYC and it's headquarters is in NYC. This store is huge. I love the outside of the store display windows. This is a review of macys.com and not a particular Macys brick-and-mortar store. NEVER purchase anything from macys.com! The company's e-commerce system is incredibly buggy, and there is a good chance that your transaction will not be processed successfully. In my case, I tried several times to check out several times, and the system timed out repeatedly. When the purchase finally went through on the fourth attempt, I was apparently supposed to reply to a text message within 36 minutes to confirm my purchase. But I never received the text message and so my transaction was canceled. Incidentally. what e-commerce site in 2024 requires such confirmation? It's completely insane that a business as big as Macys can't process a simple online shopping transaction. If a Macys transaction is canceled, even when it is their fault, you will be required to wait for up to 10 (!) business days for the money to be returned to your checking account (if you paid with a debit card) or to be charged back to your credit card. Depending on the amount of the purchase, this may cause a financial hardship. But Macys simply doesn't care. They won't lift a finger to expedite the return of your money. Moreover, they won't issue you a gift card (even a token amount) for your troubles. Given that Amazon continues to add more and more high-quality clothes to its site, there is almost no reason to purchase basic attire from Macys. I will NEVER purchase anything from Macys again because the company can't process basic e-commerce transactions. read more

This review is purely for the Christmas decorations and the hype around the store! Macy's at Harold Square is where it is at. You can find everything and brands you wouldn't find in your local Macy's. There are floors and floors of treasures to discover, and even a store that has Macy's themed gifts to take home as souvenirs. You must make an appointment with Santa, but it was still fun seeing the window displays near where he sits and the train, as well as the elves who assist you with the check in process. It was also neat seeing all of the outside decorations, including Twinkle (I think that is what the reindeer's name is) and its story in the windows along with games. It was really rather cool. If you ever have the opportunity to check Macy's out at Christmas time, take it! It truly is magical and fun to browse. Also look at their wooden elevators. They are pretty cool. read more

This Macy's location is great because of the wide variety of items to choose from. Customer service at the Chanel counter & Kiehl's counter are good. I always appreciate when I get a sample to know what new items I should look out for. I had to deduct one star because certain parts of this Macy's look old. Not in the cool vintage way but the old run down sort of way. However, this location is always worth paying a visit to regardless. Even better the holiday's are coming and the windows will be decorated for the festivities. read more

I waited a whole year. I have to do this. I forgave them the first year, that was 2023, and now 2024 and they screwed up my address of delivery for the second year in a row. It's most interesting to note at this point, that they do Farm out the telephone online services during the Christmas season shopping. And they have unique rule that says you can change the shipping address up to 30 minutes after you place your order. OK OK OK so I spent the time typing a different shipping address for the gift I wanted to send because my default address has been long incorrect. When you confirm the purchase it reverts back to the defunct yet default address and you're screwed. They allowed me to change my shipping address, it took a half an hour to convince the app that..... it was me. It felt like such a great victory I got to tell you ! But then it got long and ugly. I spent another 40 minutes talking to somebody in the country of India how important it was to change out address and they promised me that it was all sorted out. Guess what happened at the end of 40 minutes of this horse shit? Please guess---you know the answer!!!!!!!!!!! they fucked it up as soon as I clicked on confirming the sale was properly sorted out. Bang zoom--5 sec they couldn't wait! the sale magically changed to the old default address from four years ago! So clever, when you try to undo it, it is another two hours of online hell with the shipping department in India and they still screwed up!!! the loss becomes an upgrade !!loss disingenious software that makes you simply give up. It is a must stop at least one time when visiting NYC but be warned it is not just an hour of your day . Took my partner around the entire building. He found his favorite cologne and we happened to be at the store at the right time since they were running 15% off all beauty items. The girl at the counter was super friendly. I know we were probably her easiest and fastest sale of the day. lol we did go up to their backstage area of the store and the staff was not as friendly or helpful. This is silly but visiting this Macy's location was one of the highlights of my holiday vacation. The store is decorated beautifully and I loved Santaland! The wooden escalators are pretty cool. I loved all the tiny details of the store's architecture that you can tell are over 100 years old. Cool old brass fixtures hidden all over if you look passed the modern upgrades. I saw the negative reviews, but don't agree with them. There were a ton of employees all over and they were helpful. Considering it's Christmas season and packed, I was impressed with the service. Despite the impressive size of this Macy's, I've never had much luck shopping here. It's an okay place to bring folks from out of town given its iconic renown. Particularly noteworthy are the wooden escalators which were built in the 1920s and 1930s. They are still fully functioning and are purportedly some of the last wooden escalators in the world. The store has 9 floors and several restaurants. It's a great place to use the restroom if you're out and about in midtown since many stores don't have public bathrooms. Pro tip: Their Macy's "backstage" clearance inventory is on the 8th floor and can be worth a browse for some deals. read more

Worse experience ever. I had to go get a dress shirt for a wedding and I decided to go to Macy's 34th street. Went to the 5floor men's suits section and went to find someone to measure my neck and arm length. Saw an employee in the Ralph Loren department and when I asked if he can measure me, he said he is charging $2. I was like what????? And walked away. Never have I ever was charged to be measured by an employee. I walked around to find another employee and came to the BOSS department. I will say the Hugo Boss department. I was going to give the 2 gentlemen the $2 to measure me as it was getting late and I wanted to just buy a dress shirt or 2. They didn't charge me nor did they measure me. They told me to go into the fitting room to try on shirts. I did and couldn't find my size as all the shirts were smaller sizes. I had it and left. read more

This is about the Macy's credit card. If you get a new card you cannot load it on the website as a default because only your old card remains on the statements so you cannot ever see the new purchases on the new card with an actual statement/invoice. Macy's is inept in fixing this glitch and they don't care either. So you never can see your statement reflecting your new card balance and the only way to pay is to call customer service and have them do an ACH withdrawal from your bank account. In this age of technology you would think they could fix their glitch for the customer's experience and practicality of being able to pay online with the new card. read more

Been there while traveling to NY. Were being a dress for kid. The cashier suggested to open a card. I am asked if it would be quick. She answered that it will take no more than 5 minutes. So she spent some time filling, something, then some time talking with someone on phone repeating my info. The who she was talking with by phone decided to try to re- ask me all info again. For sure I have no more time to spent on that and said to that person "good bye". So I paid and go. But that is not the reason I write it. Today I figured out thay has saved all my info in there system even if they don't open a card for me. Including my id info and SSN info and other PII information. Who has allowed you to do it? If I've signed any concent for that? So I am require you to DELETE all my info and send me proof that there is no more my personal information in your systems. See CCPA if any questions. That is the first point. The second is that your advertising emails SHOULD contain unsubscribe link. It's legally required. read more

It's the busiest Macy's in NYC since it is in Herald Square. It is one of the most popular Macy's in NYC. Plus, it is a huge store. I would say a one-long block. Macy's always has wonderful decorations, especially during the holiday season. I went to check out Macy's with my friend since I wanted to see their decorations and I needed to use the restroom. I love the decorations and found Toys R Us upstairs on the 7th floor. The floor was full of children and families shopping and browsing in the aisles. There was a "Play Area" for children to play in. As I was in the store, my friend and I tried to search for the restroom. It took us over 15+ mins to look for the restroom since the directory was no help. I wish they have a sign to point out where the restroom is exactly located. The workers were no help as well. We asked where is the restroom. One says straight down to the left but didn't say where to the left so I assumed it was down to the end of the store. I went back around and found the bathroom by the elevators. At that point, I was so annoyed and over it with the store. We left afterward. Nevertheless, it is a beautiful store and it can be overwhelming since it is always busy and a lot of tourists and customers go there especially during the holidays. read more

I mean like 8-9 floors, multiple restaurants, a whole floor dedicated to Christmas (during the season), the list goes on and on. This place has absolutely everything. My experience with Macy's Customer Service.... They are either grossly incompetent or very dishonest. On a small return (less than $100), on 3 separate occasions, I was offered either a gift card (less than $100) or Macy's Money. I've now returned the product, and I will *not* be getting my gift card/Macy's Money. With lousy Customer Service like this, it's no wonder Macy's is closing more and more stores. read more

This is mostly for macy.com which you can't make a google review for. The will act as though orders are processed and then days later let you know that you have 48 hours or less (I'm not sure, it was 15 minutes from when I saw the email) to accept the shipment method of their choosing, or you receive nothing. They can't keep track of their own inventory (or they are purposefully selling items they don't have in stock and delaying shipment by changing shipment methods). Online also does not honor instore policies and no where are these online policies listed on the internet. NEVER go near their furniture store. They are complete liars and will lie to your face about delivery times, which may take a month or more longer than the original agreed upon date. Overwhelmingly huge and beyond impressive! I could easily see myself getting lost (literally) for a day's worth of shopping and exploring. My husband and I came for two things specifically, and were able to get in and out within an hour. The service we got at both Jo Malone and Gucci were beyond amazing. Especially at Gucci. Like I said, I came in specifically with sunglasses in mind, but after feeling admittedly disappointed with their selection, the worker Tommy Chek made sure to interest me in other products and I left with more than I expected to. Good on him! If we didn't have an itinerary for the rest of the day, I wouldn't have minded going to every floor of this iconic building. read more

Because 7 ate 9, but unfortunately this still isn't the correct amount of levels at this Macy's. 10 levels just wasn't enough, so Macy's Flagship store decided that 11, that's right you heard me...Eleven levels of merchandise was the perfect amount of floors allowing you to literally Shop till you Drop! This Flagship location takes up a whole city block and is the Largest Store in the U.S. This location even houses some of your favorite designer boutiques such as Burberry, Louis Vuitton, & Gucci, so have that AMEX at the ready! Several restaurants and eateries are located throughout the various levels, so don't forget to hydrate and eat up in between floors. Finally, Rest assured this place has easy access to getting between levels and restrooms are located throughout, so no need to sweat the small stuff. This Macys is definitely worth the trip to come see while in NYC, trust me the Statue of Liberty and the Empire State Building will totally understand! read more

Upon entering you're greeted and everything. There is sanitizer nearby. You can definitely tell the AC is on because of the clean free flowing of cool air. Very good ventilation. The store is very clean and highly organized. There's employees everywhere greeting everyone and handing out samples of products. Also at the cologne counters there's testers available for mainly all the brands. They do carry "Hermes" products here which is rare. The layout of the store is amazing. Mostly all the high-end brands are inside the store MontBlanc, Louis Vuitton and others. There was however a little wait to get inside the LV part of the store. The fragrance area is very nicely arranged and open. Highly organized. The clothes areas were also nicely arranged. No clothes were on the floor or anything. Mostly all the items were marked with the pricing. Everything is fully stocked with barely any empty real estate on shelves really. The lower level could've used a tad bit more product refilling though. **SEE PICS** The general crowd is all different classes. The noise level was normal for a big retail environment. Also everyone was smiling and socializing with each other which is always good to see. The sizing of the place is amazing with over EIGHT+ floors of products. It was almost never ending. Lol. Plus the store had wooden escalators which was very unique. The employees are highly professional and everyone was smiling so definitely good to see. Definitely made a truly amazing happy buying experience. The customer base is all different classes and all different ages. Everyone was very highly mature. No kids blasting music nor on skateboards inside the store despite it being New York. Lol. Very very good POLICE presence throughout the entire store which is good because sadly NY is not what it used to be. Pricing and everything seemed normal for Macy's. No markups or anything because of the location. The overall environment was very clean. Almost spotless. The bathrooms were also cleaned and maintained. The toilets were flushed and the sinks had good water pressure and the commercial soap dispensers were loaded with scented soap. Lastly. The watch and the jewelry areas are massive and very nicely arranged as well as the display cases were fully stocked and cleaned. Display mirrors were available too. Also they carry select luxury pens here which was a major plus. Overall A+++++ The only downfall is they could use a few more police officers directly OUTSIDE the exit doors since you have some people asking for change sometimes. TLDR; Huge store, everything you will find in a regular Macy's but on steroids, nice Toys R' Us addition for the kids, and a classic staple of the city. Honestly, I gotta start this one by saying that if you are planning to visit... please bring sneakers! This store is so damn big, if you're intending on walking through all the floors, you're going to get a whole workout in. But, I think it's worth it! I have to rate it 5 stars for the sake of it not being just a store I can selfishly critique, but more objectively say that there is something for everyone in here regardless of socio-economic status. From deep discounts, and Macy's Backstage to Gucci, Louis Vuitton, etc, you can get all types of things here. Items for your home? Huge floor to fill up a whole wedding registry if needed. Kids hungry? McDonalds on the 7th floor by the Toys R' Us, and Auntie Anne's if they need a sweet snack. Adults Hungry? There is a lounge type of restaurant in the basement level along with other food like pizza spots on different floors to satisfy. Along with your purchases you can also experience beautiful seasonal visual merchandising and design both outside & inside the location, to events for places like "Santa's Workshop" and experience a Christmas wonderland on the top floors.
