I know this is not a normal thing that you will see at Macys, but yesterday a lot of staff members in the perfume area were playing the, Because I'm Happy song and were in kind of a soul train line formation as the customers entered the store. The staff were singing and clapping. It was so nice to see and hear as we start this holiday season! Macys is also starting their Black Friday deals two weeks early. So there were plenty of sales and price reductions even on designer brand. There was a decent selection of bathrobes that I was looking for and they were in the towel department as we as the men's department. Huge store with great holiday energy! read more

Wow. This place is impressive. Very clean and busy. We had to ask for help getting to a few places within and everyone we spoke with was very accommodating. They have multiple other spots within and a lot to choose from. Very cool escalators. They had a pretty legit Santa experience inside around the holidays but you needed a reservation. read more

I had a fun and pleasant experience at the Macy's Holiday Square Market. Macy's partnered with Urbanspace to bring this holiday market to Herald Square. The last couple of years the market has been located on the grounds at the flagship Macy's at Herald Square. I believe this is the first year the market is held outside on Broadway between 32nd and 36th streets. There is a perfect balance of novelty foods and beverage vendors here, offering your typical winter holiday market favorites like pastries, hot chocolate, and candies. This holiday market is very diverse with food options, apparel, accessories, and gift stands. Offering higher end and economy gift and food options. There is something for everyone including young and old. I appreciate the walking space between the isles and corridors. The fact there are many quality food vendors reduces long lines and overcrowding at stands that you might otherwise experience at lesser tier holiday markets with fewer stands anchoring the entire market. Even on a crowded Saturday afternoon, this market is relatively easy to traverse. Although limited, there is picnic style bench seating towards the back of the market. Absolutely stunning! Beautiful christmas decorations & holiday market. Had a wonderful time visiting as this was my first time in Times Square! Everything was within walking distance or public transportation was always nearby. So much to do and so much to see. Highly recommend to visit the city during Christmas. Holy smokes this Macy's is INSANE on Black Friday!!!!! I really wanted to take a stroll through their flagship but I honestly couldn't get past the crowds. From what little I did see in my very limited time there, there were food stands which is unique and the place is huge! The line to the bathroom was super long but moved very quickly and the bathroom was incredibly clean which was pleasantly surprising :) read more

On Sunday, I made a quick stop at Macy's to pick up an order. I can't tell you how helpful the staff members are there. I walked in from the Broadway side and the customer services for online orders is on 7th Avenue side. I asked the security guard and salesclerk; they both were so nice. I was directed to go straight down and turn to the right. Online pickup is very hi-tech. You scan the QR code from your email then the locker opens by itself. It is definitely more secure process than Kohls. read more

It was pretty cool to see this historic building and store. As an engineer, I came specifically to see the old wooden escalators. They were super cool and I'm glad I came to check them out. I can't believe how huge this store actually is. It is definitely showing some signs of wear as brick and mortar continues to struggle. Hopefully Macy's is around for decades to come. read more

I wanted to bring to your attention a very disappointing experience I had with one of your employees at Macy's, specifically in the Jessica Simpson/Madden Girl section. The sales associate in question is an older woman with a pixie cut hairstyle. Her behavior was completely unprofessional and, frankly, unacceptable. Yesterday, my girlfriend visited the store and tried on a few pairs of shoes. She found two that she loved and asked the associate to hold them until the next day. I was on FaceTime with her during this interaction--watching, listening, and taking notes so I could be sure to get the correct shoes. When my girlfriend made the request, instead of a courteous, "Yes, I'll hold them until tomorrow morning," the associate bluntly responded with, "So you're not buying anything today?" While this response wasn't ideal, I wasn't too concerned about her tone--we just wanted to ensure the correct shoes were identified. Now, fast forward to today. Out of courtesy, I sought out the same associate to complete the purchase and give her credit for the sale since she assisted us initially. When I approached her and explained the situation, her expression said it all--she clearly didn't expect us to return. Turns out, she had put the shoes back into stock immediately after my girlfriend left. No hold was placed. She first claimed my girlfriend never asked her to hold the shoes--an outright lie, which I immediately called out since I was on the call and heard the full conversation. Her response? A look of surprise and silence. She then pivoted and said she had other customers and didn't want to "mess up her numbers." Another employee nearby was kind enough to assist me. She retrieved one pair of shoes but informed me it was a half size smaller than what we needed because the original pair (supposedly on hold) had sold out. The second pair was also gone, with no size alternatives available. When I asked the original associate whether the shoes had been sold, she claimed she'd check, only to spend 30 minutes helping other customers before returning to tell me that the shoe had indeed sold--and only a 7.5 was available. Once again, I caught her in a lie, and by this point, it felt like I was being deliberately misled or ignored. I then informed her I had intended to spend over $700 on those two pairs of shoes--$500 on one, and $245 on the other. Instead, I walked out empty-handed, with a disappointed girlfriend and a very sour impression of Macy's customer service. I'm writing not out of spite but because this level of dishonesty and lack of accountability should never be tolerated in a customer-facing environment. I genuinely hope this feedback reaches someone who cares, because what I experienced today was not only unprofessional but completely avoidable. read more

I rarely review a retail store but I have visited this Macy's so many times, it merits a review. This Macy's is massive! It has 11 floors. Even though I come here quite frequently, I manage to almost always get lost. The store is beautifully decorated for Christmas and Spring Flower Show. I'm not sure for what other occasions they decorate. My only complaint is that there are very few employees. There are also not many registers open. I also tend to go when they are the less busiest so maybe that's why are not many employees around. That's another thing -- be prepared for the amount of people that frequent this store. Macy's Herald Square is like the oldest department store that I have been to since I was very young. It is such a large and beautiful department store rich with history. You can really spend a whole day here if you wanted to and I have. They have always offered a large variety of designer merchandise. Authentic designer merchandise from clothing, cosmetics, kitchenware plus whole lot more. I have always loved coming here for my retail therapy. Macy's is always very busy when you first walk in with so many different types of people. Once you get on the escalator and get off the first floor, it does not seem as crowded because it is such a large space. Whenever I come here I get into my own zone focused on the hunt to find things that I did not know that I needed at a great discount. read more

As a native New Yorker, I've visited Macy's more times than I can count so this isn't my first time going but visiting as an adult is a different experience. Any way, I came to look for a nice silver tennis necklace for an outfit I was wearing to an event and the associate helped so much! She was also super patient with me and wanted to ensure that I truly got what I wanted. Definitely would recommend. I hope they can hold out and not close, I love this place! read more

This store is Macy's iconic flagship store located at Herald Square in Manhattan. It is such a big store and a lot of fun to visit during the holidays. Having eleven floors, it is the largest department store in the United States. It started off as one building in 1902 and eventually expanded to almost the entire block over the years. I like coming here and looking at the Christmas window displays during the holiday season. I took my Mom to New York City to see the annual Macy's Thanksgiving parade in 2015 for her birthday. It was her favorite parade to watch on TV growing up. We had fun watching all the floats go by and listening to all the music acts. We stood pretty close to Herald Square where the televised portion takes place. read more

Macy's Herald Square is enormous, covering almost 2.5 million square feet across a full city block. It stretches from 34th st to 35th and from Broadway to 7th Ave. with 11 floors. It's one of the largest department stores in the world and a landmark in New York City. There's nothing better than Macy's at Christmas. All the windows are decorated to the fullest with a different theme in each one. This year some of the windows were interactive and when you pressed a button a Live Photo of you appears in the window. They really out did themselves this year and it really does put you in the holiday spirit. So maybe this is just another Miracle on 34th Street. read more

The store boats 10 stories and over a million square feet of space to satisfy all of your retail needs. There is high end luxury, electronics, and even a revived Toys R Us at this location. This location also is home to one of the last wooden escalators in the world! I really needed a winter coat and I had no luck finding one in Vancouver. I had tried on so many coats, but either the coat wouldn't zip up over my big boobs, or if it did, the coat was way too big on me and looked like a sack. I figured I would have better luck finding a winter coat in the US as there is more variety, and people in the US are known for being on the larger side. We went to Macy's on December 26th, which is crazy, with all the post-Christmas shoppers, but it ended up being a very productive trip. While the lower floors were crowded with shoppers, the upper floors, where the women's clothing was located, was fine. I tried on so many coats, and as in Vancouver, nothing fit over my boobs. I was stumped, as I have seen women with big boobs wearing coats -- where do they find their coats?! I found an employee, a woman who also had big boobs, and asked her where someone of my body shape could find a coat. She told me the trick was to go to the women's plus sized department, even though I am not plus sized, and purchase one of the smaller sizes. I went up to the next floor where the women's plus sized clothing was located, and I found a coat! Also, it was on sale for just over $100US (regular price was close to $300). The employee's advise was very helpful, and now I finally have a nice, warm winter coat. Every time is visit NYC I have to make a visit to Macys. With its countless floors and always deals - I ALWAYS find something. Go to the Visitor's Center on the Mezzanine level, show them your out of state DL or passport and they will give you a coupon. Start on the first floor and make your way up. In the center you need to scout out the original wooden escalators. I've seen them so many times it's not a novelty anymore... But whenever I am in the city with someone new, I have to show them. They are really neat to see. Their shoe department is INSANE! You have to see it to believe it. They sell tons of high end purses/bags that you don't find at other Macy's around the country. Start on the bottom floor and make your way up. Each section has a super discounted area, so just look for it (that's with any Macys)....usually coupons don't work for those items though. If you find your way to the top, that is the most discounted level. It's fun to look up there and see if I can find good deals. Sometimes I do. Hungry? They have several quick dining options. The salad place (can't remember which floor) is pretty good. Macy's is a win win for everyone. You can always find a good deal. read more

The place is also well decorated with festive lights and decorations. Service (3/5): The attendants are helpful when asked. I was trying to determine my ring size and the attendant tried their best to get an accurate measurement. An issue is that men's bathrooms are much fewer and hidden in corners. Also they are split far away from the women's restrooms making it inconvenient. Value (2/5): A lot of the items are overpriced compared to items you can get online. My wife and I stopped shopping at Macy's a few years ago because the service is always so poor. We were in town and saw the "July Black Friday" adds and decided to give them another try. Had a great experience! I bought some sunglasses and the person that helped me did a great job trying on different options and picking one out. Wife tried on all kinds of clothing and they even took off a dress from the mannequin and let her buy it because it was the last one in her size. Price was very reasonable and we actually had good service. This location is the famous one that takes up a whole city block and is featured in lots of Movies filmed in NYC. read more

There is a fraudulent company ( named Winstex) using " Macy's website" to try to sell low price coats and merchandise . It is using the Macy's name to scam customers to sell goods that DONT EXIST. The prices are really low so its a bait and switch. They use the Macy's logo on a website but when you go to pay it brings you to fraudulent company named " Wintstex". Unfortunately, they took me for $60 and never got anything i ordered. If you look up the :" Winstex" company it states point blank its a scam and fraudulent company!!! Im upset I didnt listen to my gut. I hope Macy's will charge them and take down the scam site. I ordered 2 weeks ago. Got a confirmation code, sent them an email and never heard back! So if you see coats, boots and sweaters for $1to $10 be smart! Don't do it. The Real Macy's has been notified and hope they're ( Winstex) is charged for fraud! And put out of business. It's hard not to feel festive while visiting NYC's iconic flagship store during the holiday season. The gorgeous and fanciful window displays, the flashbacks of scenes from the original "Miracle on 34th Street", the sights and sounds of the holiday all lend to that feeling of seasonal cheer. While the store was very crowded just a week before Christmas, the staff cheerfully kept people moving and the crowds well managed. The massive store was beautifully decorated and well organized and clean-which I am sure is no easy feat. Even the restrooms were well looked after. No, I didn't recently hop a plane to the Big Apple. My research tells me that this is the headquarters location for Macy's. After a recent online order / delivery experience, a review is warranted. First, a tiny bit of personal history. My sainted grandmother, an immigrant to this country in her late middle age, worked hard and earned a Macy's credit card when she'd been in the U.S. for not that long. Once I become old enough, her favorite thing to do was take me shopping for a little something special. I remember us riding several buses with transfers to get to downtown San Francisco to visit Macy's. It was always a big deal, especially during holiday time with the beautiful decorations. I also recall one time when I was in middle school when we went in search of a perfect outfit for a young teen. A plaid pleated skirt and substantial legging hosiery was involved. I was in fashion heaven. Good memories! Fast forward many years later, I had married and moved to Southern California. There were many other department stores to explore, and somehow Macy's was much farther down on my list. After being disappointed at the lack of slacks with long inseams, I stopped going there at all for a very long time. Recently, they won me back again. I was browsing the Internet for sandals for the hot weather and found a pair that I liked. Turned out that not only did Macy's have them, but they offered my (unusual) size in stock, and for a great discount. Score! I signed up for their rewards program, which earned me free shipping. Even better, they arrived two days sooner than the estimated time listed. They may have not completely earned my loyalty, but they definitely did me a solid on this recent purchase. I'll put them in the mix when I'm searching for particular items that I may not be able to buy locally. read more

Went to grab a men's suit the floor that has them. Ask for Kumba. She is fast and efficient. Got me a suit that fit perfect off the rack in the space of 15 minutes. She knows the store well, and where everything is. Grabbed towels on the 6th floor. Got bath sheets which are super huge and fluffy. Overall we managed to get what we needed with a minimum of fuss. read more
