The Mad Dog and Chopped Cheese Dog

The best hot dogs we've had in Austin. Counter service was quick. The chopped cheese was delicious and just rich enough, not overly greasy. The Mad Dog had more tang to it with the sriracha and ketchup. The curry ketchup felt like rightly so the star of the show. I think what makes Mad Dogs great is the hot dog and bun are neutral to really let the toppings shine. Looking forward to going back!

love it so yummy definitely recommend!!!! the service is impeccable. The vibes are amazing!!

We were a little confused at first bc the building is somewhat off to the side but it is across from crystal works and Enfield nails in a small stand alone building. The interior is very casual and there is a large menu on the wall when you walk in. Then the counter has a screen for you to self place and order. The order process does ask for a tip at the end which is always odd to me when the process is self order. We were the only people in the restaurant for a few minutes and it still took quite a while for the food to come out. After about 30 minutes, or more, I asked if they had received our order and they said "oh yes sorry it's right here" which was pretty odd. Their self titled "Mad dog" is a pretty obvious knock off of yo-yos from Houston and ditty dog. It did not live up to our expectations. The dog comes with a curry ketchup which definitely had more curry flavor than ketchup. Even with the combination of cream cheese, crunchy onion, and the sauces, the hot dog only tastes like curry. I also ordered a smash burger which definitely had the look and taste of a classic smash burger but there were no onions. My friend's order also had no onions so I'm assuming they ran out? The french fries were a little cold but had a great crunch still. I didn't see any ketchup available for the fries but I thankfully used my friends smash sauce. I had high hopes for this place but the food, service, and experience overall was quite subpar.

Ordered two elote dogs on uber eats and got whatever this is. I called into the store and it immediately hung up on me. Fantastic customer service. (sarcasm)

Great specialty dogs, good late night place with friendly employees. The fries were fried to perfection and a perfect combination with the hot dogs. The seating is upstairs on a rooftop with plenty of space.

This is not your typical hotdog or smothered fries. Headed to one place but ended up at mad dogs after my boyfriend decided that he wanted a hotdog. He searched and search online and came upon Mad dogs, which had a great review and we are just here to add to it. The experience was simple and yet amazing. The flavor was imp Actable and each bite was super yummy. He ordered the hotdog and I ordered the Smashburger fries. When you get food from restaurants, do you want to get it for the value of a dollar they are asking. They are not shy of giving you what you need for the cost of our food. There was very little interaction with the staffing, but they were present and available to assist with any questions. I love to see that this small business has joined with another business which is called midnight snack. The snacks look amazing and to die for. We were so full from mad dog we didn't order from midnight snack, but we are excited to know that they are open late. I'm sure one of these nights.

How many places can you say that both main dish and sides are good? Also, for it to be reasonably priced? Ordered the 1/2 chicken plate. Comes with (1)breast, wing, thigh, and leg. Sides were beans and Cole slaw. Ordered a small order of Mac and cheese. Total was ~$26. Whenever my wife and I travel, we usually share plates so we have more room to try other things. 100% enough food for two people to hold you over for a solid meal with out making you take a nap. If you're hungry, that plate it self will absolutely keep you full for the 50% of the day. Staff has always been friendly. Service is generally quick but there can be a line depending upon when you arrive. Pro tip is to order to go if you have a nearby hotel or to door dash. If you eat inside, inside has plenty of tables and chairs. Cafeteria style more or less where you sit what's available. Plenty of staff to lend assistance. Generally people are chill

I was warmly greeted at the entrance by the gentleman manning the cash register and takeout orders. My server was Hannah C. and she took great care of me and her other customers. She was pleasant, thoughtful, attentive, and had a great personality. She told me about their Saturday special (today only) on fried chicken wings. She was thoughtful in bringing one of those fly fans to my table because I sat in the corner where they seem to congregate. She was a joy (10/10)! I ordered the starter of Fried Green Tomatoes, served with ranch dressing (4/5). I finally got a chance to try it. It had a nice seasoned coating on them. The tomato itself was firm and slightly bitter but I liked them. I ordered the Snacks 2 piece Dark, which includes the chicken & white bread (4/5). The chicken was crunchy, juicy, and had a little heat. YUM! Come check them out. Support your local business.

The food is incredible, the atmosphere is welcoming, and the staff truly make this place special. Huge shoutout to amazing team members Ariel and Emily for being so warm and kind. The chef even made our pup Zoloft a pup cup today, which was such a sweet gesture. The lovely woman who helped us during our last visit also gave Zoloft a pup cup, so they've consistently shown kindness to our little family. They even gave complimentary vegan cookies to guests when we arrived (not sure if it was a special promotion, but such a thoughtful touch!). And the ice cream... WOW. Made with lentils, and honestly some of the best ice cream we've ever had--rich, creamy, and unforgettable. Friendly staff, delicious food, thoughtful service, and creative plant-based treats. Some tables could use a cleaning in between guests, but it was fairly clean. You order your food at the counter and they call you when it is ready. I ordered the grilled steak taco, rotisserie chicken taco and special taco of the week (pork dumpling smash taco). We also ordered the elote and queso to share. The elote was good, but very creamy and a bit heavy. The queso was good but tbh I prefer Torchy's. The grilled steak taco was a bit underwhelming, I wanted it to have more flavor, it just tasted like beef and cheese. The chicken had good flavor and the special weekly taco was enjoyable and interesting, not like any taco I have had before. There is plenty of variety for people including those with dietary restrictions. My friends ordered two tacos each and I was full after 3 tacos so if you are not a big eater stick with two.
