The Mad Dog and Chopped Cheese Dog
    Frances L.

The best hot dogs we've had in Austin. Counter service was quick. The chopped cheese was delicious and just rich enough, not overly greasy. The Mad Dog had more tang to it with the sriracha and ketchup. The curry ketchup felt like rightly so the star of the show. I think what makes Mad Dogs great is the hot dog and bun are neutral to really let the toppings shine. Looking forward to going back!

We were a little confused at first bc the building is somewhat off to the side but it is across from crystal works and Enfield nails in a small stand alone building. The interior is very casual and there is a large menu on the wall when you walk in. Then the counter has a screen for you to self place and order. The order process does ask for a tip at the end which is always odd to me when the process is self order. We were the only people in the restaurant for a few minutes and it still took quite a while for the food to come out. After about 30 minutes, or more, I asked if they had received our order and they said "oh yes sorry it's right here" which was pretty odd. Their self titled "Mad dog" is a pretty obvious knock off of yo-yos from Houston and ditty dog. It did not live up to our expectations. The dog comes with a curry ketchup which definitely had more curry flavor than ketchup. Even with the combination of cream cheese, crunchy onion, and the sauces, the hot dog only tastes like curry. I also ordered a smash burger which definitely had the look and taste of a classic smash burger but there were no onions. My friend's order also had no onions so I'm assuming they ran out? The french fries were a little cold but had a great crunch still. I didn't see any ketchup available for the fries but I thankfully used my friends smash sauce. I had high hopes for this place but the food, service, and experience overall was quite subpar.

Ordered two elote dogs on uber eats and got whatever this is. I called into the store and it immediately hung up on me. Fantastic customer service. (sarcasm)

Great specialty dogs, good late night place with friendly employees. The fries were fried to perfection and a perfect combination with the hot dogs. The seating is upstairs on a rooftop with plenty of space.

This is not your typical hotdog or smothered fries. Headed to one place but ended up at mad dogs after my boyfriend decided that he wanted a hotdog. He searched and search online and came upon Mad dogs, which had a great review and we are just here to add to it. The experience was simple and yet amazing. The flavor was imp Actable and each bite was super yummy. He ordered the hotdog and I ordered the Smashburger fries. When you get food from restaurants, do you want to get it for the value of a dollar they are asking. They are not shy of giving you what you need for the cost of our food. There was very little interaction with the staffing, but they were present and available to assist with any questions. I love to see that this small business has joined with another business which is called midnight snack. The snacks look amazing and to die for. We were so full from mad dog we didn't order from midnight snack, but we are excited to know that they are open late. I'm sure one of these nights.

My first visit to T-Loc's Sonora Hot Dogs and wow, what a way to be introduced to this spot!…read more I met up with a fellow Yelper friend and we got there not long after opening, which turned out to be a very smart move. While we were waiting for our food, it suddenly became a whole scene, it was National Hot Dog Day, and the line just kept growing and growing. People were fully committed too, hot dog shirts, hot dog hats, I'm pretty sure I saw a walking hot dog at one point. Add in folks bringing their own ice chests of beer and it felt like a little hot dog party. We decided to go big and ordered every kind of dog they make so we could share and try them all. A super sweet lady brought our order out to us, which I loved. No waiting around trying to hear someone shout out your name. And let me tell you, every single one was damn good. You really can't go wrong here. My favorite ended up being the classic chili cheese dog, because apparently I like to keep it old school, ha. But seriously, Mr. T-Loc knows exactly what he's doing with his chili recipe! I also tried an agua fresca for the first time and now I get the hype. So refreshing and good. Next time, I've got my eye on one of those big burritos because they looked crazy good, no joke. Accessibility wise, they do have accessible parking, which is a huge plus. The seating is a mix of circular and standard picnic tables, some with shade, but not the most wheelchair-friendly setup. They do have a ramp up to the covered area and I made it work by parking at an angle at the end of a table, nothing was getting between me and those dogs. Bottom line, this is a must try spot if you're craving great food and don't skip on the fresh made agua fresca!

So waiting to get a drink to awhile while sitting at the bar. People were standing in line about 8 people to order and the kitchen hitting some bell for her to run food. We ordered a beer and food, the tots were cold, the mutha cluck sandwich was inconsistent with temperature and chicken was dry. He had the burrito and the bacon were small pieces that were super hard and pulled on side of the burrito but temperature was good. The food was just blah, nothing to brag about. The beer tasted funny (like sour taste) and it wasn't just one type of beer it was several. They had a man sitting up to play for live music., he played well but it was loud so hard to hear him if you are back of restaurant. Don't think we will be back anytime soon since the time before wasn't that good either. Hope the girl who was work the front, bar and running food gets paid for 3 peoples job. She did a great job ensuring recognized each guest that came in and the ones there she acknowledged their needs.

I didn't feel like a burger though so I got the Classic Coney hotdog which is full of Detroit style chili (thick meat chili with no beans), and loaded with red onions and shredded cheddar cheese, then topped with mustard. They also have great drinks which are refillable for free while you dine in. And I love the chill vibe and decor. Great artwork and old photos. Very funky! This was my first time trying Korean hot dogs and OoooohK-Dog…read more We ordered a few different dogs and an egg toast so we could try a bit of everything. The potato dog was a big standout. Crispy on the outside with fluffy potato chunks and honestly didn't even need the mustard drizzle after all. Crunchy, salty, and ridiculously fun to eat. The classic mozzarella dog was also solid with that satisfying cheese pull everyone wants and a perfectly fried coating. The batter was my favorite part of everything we tried. I'm convinced they could batter a book and it would still be good! The egg toast surprised me. I love egg sandwiches but this was STACKED. Now I'm genuinely sad I don't have this spot near me because I would eat that egg toast constantly. Thick, buttery toast stuffed with soft eggs, avocado, and a sauce that I have no idea what it was but absolutely loved. It tied everything together perfectly and made the whole sandwich feel extra special. I wish they sold this sauce in a bottle for my eggs at home! The space itself is clean, casual, and easy to navigate. Plenty of room to sit without feeling cramped, ordering was simple, and the menu does a great job explaining all the options. The staff was super helpful and even pointed us toward the most popular items to try first. This is the kind of place you stop into out of curiosity and leave already planning your next order. If you like street food, and eats that are a little different but still familiar, this is absolutely worth the stop. Crispy, cheesy, and very snackable.

Negatives: -Order taker/server's heavy accent very difficult to understand. -A la carte; no combos. Side portions (tots) are enough for two people we found out after ordering. -Didn't realize the burgers come with 4 Hawaiian slider rolls as the bun; we ordered off the wall menu behind the counter. Upon picking up the burger, the 4 rolls immediately broke apart as did the hamburger patty. Ended up being a "hamburger salad". -Cheeseburger comes with pickles; found jalapeños instead, on the bottom. - Coke at the fountain tasted like Diet Coke, thought maybe the lines were crossed. Server tried it and also at the bar then checked in the back and said "out of Coke." Impressions: Didn't care for slider rolls in place of a burger bun, as it makes for a big fall-apart mess. Sweet Hawaiian comes in actual hamburger and hotdog buns!! More negatives than positives so we don't plan on going back.
