I've given this restaurant 4 chances before I had to write this review. Yesterday was the last straw. I'm a huge fan of Mad for Chicken, usually this is always my go to spot because of the parking lot. The food is average compared to the other locations, there is nothing too special about it since it is turning into a chain. The issue is the service, each time I have been here with people usually 3 people max, 5 people at the highest and 2 people at the lowest. The service from my waiter has been HORRIBLE. I'm talking, they would come take the order and never show their face again. They would miss items in the order and I would have to hunt someone else down not servicing my area to come to a solution. I would have to go to the front desk aka the pick up area to let them know I'm ready for my bill and boxes to go. This is horrible, I went yesterday and the mac and cheese came out at a fast pace with the fries (this was not what I personally ordered) the food I ordered (tenders) came out 16 minutes later, so I sat there looking at my guest eat for that time. Not to mention, my order of Coke Zero never arrived, are you serious mad for chicken waiter? Not even the drink arrived? We were here on the day of the Baysdide St. Patrick's Day parade, and it was right on the parade route. Our son had heard good things about this, but had yet to try it. Plenty of saeating, so we gave it a try. With 3 beer drinkers on board, the pitcher was an economical option, and they brought out a bowl of spice scented popcorn. I'm a big fan of menus that go beyond the usual, and this one had it in spades. Wife and I both tried chicken and rice based bowls, and son & daughter in law had salads. All of us shared the excellent dumplings. Service was delightful, and the bowls were wonderful - spicy but not too much, and a delightful mix of pasta, chicken & avocado. We ordered a number of dishes but thought that the soy garlic wings were great, buffalo chicken was a bit too spicy for me, garlic fries were awesome and scallion chicken could have been better. The pieces were a bit too large and they didn't give you enough scallions. It was also kind of pricey. The kimchi bowl was delicious. So while most of the food was good, the service really lacked here. They were clearly staffed well and the restaurant wasn't perhaps 50%-60% full but it was so hard to flag down a waiter to get service. Had a craving for Korean fried chicken so my friend and I decided to give the MFC spot a shot. We went on a Thursday early evening and there were only around 3-5 other tables currently dining. There was no one at the hostess station, so we waited for awhile for someone to even acknowledge us. Eventually I walked towards the back of the restaurant where a bunch of staff were behind the bar and asked for a table. This spot was def well staffed for the number of diners there, so that's not the issue. Reading their previous reviews, it seems like this wasn't a one-off situation. Placed our orders for wings right away since those take a bit longer to cook - got half and half, and a avo salad.. bc balance ~ food was as expected. In the 6 years from when I first tried MFC in their original Flushing location they have been on a franchising explosion of locations mostly in NY, but making in road throughout the country. The Bayside location has become my new go to - the parking is easier, the location is huge and the food is just as tasty as the Flushing original. Our go to order for 2 is the MFC signature combo of 3 drumsticks and 5 wings (I need to remember to ask for the wing section and not the smaller drumettes) half and half (soy garlic and spicy soy garlic). They now have new sauces, but the classic soy garlic is the bomb. Crabmeat Salad, a generous portion with tangy mustard dressing and usually some type of fries - my favorite is the kimchi fries, but the truffle fries and the newly added chili fries are good as well. I always order a beer - they have a large draft selection and with many lager/pilsners options. The service is always great with the servers coming to check on things, filling up water or just walking by and giving a smile in case we need anything. We usually manage to get one of those dark booths where we can munch away in semi privacy. read more

Love MFC. The one here in Bayside is just as Awesome as the one in Flushing. Crispy chicken wings cooked to perfection in Soy garlic glaze, my favorite sauce, not such a fan on the spicy sauce. What sets MFC apart from other Korean fried chicken places is not so much on the pricing. They are all crazy expensive. The portion sizes of the wings here is bigger, juicier and tastier IMHO. The sides are crazy good as well. The fries, Kim chi fried rice, avocado salad and bulgogi Mac and cheese are the perfect complement to the wings. I love Mad for Chicken. The wings are mighty crispy and juicy, as they should be. Very fresh and delicious. I had the Garlic Soy but you can get Spicy Garlic Soy, BBQ and other flavors. The complimentary popcorn before the wait for wings was welcome. The spicy Mayo that accompanied the fries packed a flavorful punch. The service was great and the big open space reminded me of a great beer hall. With its long picnic tables, MFC is a great place for big groups. And with its many TVs, it's the perfect place to gather for sports or other viewing events. It's quite beautiful inside...nicely decorated. MFC is a delightful gastropub with your favorite standbys like Buffalo wings, kielbasa, etc., alongside Korean yummies like kimchi fried rice, dumplings and Bulgolgi bowls. Mad for chicken has been my go to spot for Korean fried chicken on bayside. I love their soy garlic drumsticks and wings, has a great balance of flavor and it's crispy on the outside while juicy on the inside. I've only gotten it for take out but would love to try dine in sometime. We also tried their kimchi fried rice which is pretty classic, love the flavor but it is a bit heavy. Their Mac and cheese is sooooo cheesy which I love and I was pleasantly surprised. This was a solid dish too. The only item that I've tried and not liked was the bbq chicken sandwich. There was just way too much bbq sauce which overpowered the chicken and the cold slaw, only thing I would not recommend. I went this past Saturday night, I just moved into the neighborhood and wanted a quick bit and a beer, it was 11:25 the place had a bunch of full big tables and few seats at the bar, I knew the closing time said 12:30 so wasn't looking to stay long, young girl behind the bar is cleaning for like 10min doesn't acknowledge me and when she finally does greets me with do you know what you want? I love the setting of the place. It has a smoke house feel to it and the chicken was delicious! The only reason why I gave it 4/5 was because the waiters could've been more attentive. I went and it was not busy at all. It was practically empty. The waiter serving water was more attentive than my actual waiter, but it's ok the food was 5/5. I ordered wings 1/2 garlic soy which was the best and 1/2 golden honey; it was a 3/5. I love the crunch the wings had! And they were a very good size! We arrived in between shifts so the waitress we started with is not the one we ended with during this experience. The first was the kindest soul! I had a terrible tension headache and she gave me 2 excedrin. She was very bubbly and knowledgeable about the menu. At her recommendation, I ordered the Bulgogi bowl. The bowl was pretty good! A healthy size serving with rice, carrots, peppers, beef with vegetables over rice. You definitely will be full after eating this bowl! The other dishes were the BBQ burger with fries. I didn't eat this dish but I was informed it was good. We had ordered the Korean fried chicken as an appetizer. I've never had it before so I wanted to give it a try. While fried chicken isn't good for you, this was so tasty. Apparently korean fried chicken is prepared differently than American fried chicken. It's double fried with a sweet batter and glaze to ensure it stays crispy. The chicken did not disappoint! A garlic soy glaze made it delicious! The waitress warned us it takes approximately 30 min wait time to get the chicken wings so take this into consideration when ordering. A definite recommend for this place! Walked in on a Friday evening and there was plenty of space. The restaraunt is big enough that it felt like air was circulating and it wasn't crowded. The ladies bathroom was very clean and had two stalls. The bulgogi quesadilla was pretty good. The pork is marinated so that it's a bit sweet, as bulgogi should taste like. The taste of the kimchi fries didn't blow me away so maybe i'd recommend the truffle fries instead. I also recommend getting the spicy soy garlic as opposed to the non spicy. It just hits differently and there's more flavor. The non spicy only has soy garlic flavor on the fried skin but beyond that, there's no flavor of course. However, the spicy one is spicy even after you get through the soy garlic flavor of skin so it keeps you on your toes throughout your whole experience. Came here around 8 on Sunday and it was packed, but there were still a few empty tables. As soon as I came in, I was able to be seated with my friends. The benches are so roomy and spacious! LOVE the fries from here! We got the kimchi fries and the Parmesan fries in addition to half/half wings. I've been going to the Northern blvd location for years now but love that they've opened one on Bell. I've been to this location several times already, both dined in and gotten take out. There's definitely a lot of seats available inside and I've never had to wait for a table. The tables are also spread apart so it's comfortable seating. Also, a bonus on having a parking lot! The menu isn't as extensive at this location but I always get the fried chicken anyway. That's a must! You can never go wrong with the soy garlic chicken. The spicy flavor also isn't that spicy either. I also like their fries, which are always crispy. The nachos are decent (a bit pricey in my opinion) but great to pair with some drinks. Their entrée items are just okay - mac and cheese doesn't have much flavor, rice dishes are good if you're hungry but I always prefer to just get their fried chicken and fries! It's been a while since we last dined in to avoid exposure from the holiday gathering Covid rate increase. So when the governor announced a re-opening at 25% dining capacity this valentine weekend, we thought of coming back to Mfc but this time to its Bayside location. We missed it's chicken wings and trash nachos and there was no hesitation in putting on our order list . We already know by heart how will it tastes but there is still joy and excitement in trying it again. We were hours ahead of the peak time and glad that our wait was shorter than expected. Both orders arrived at the same time. We were constantly checked on by the wait staff. They follow protocols ... a temperature check on guests arrival, table seating distancing, sanitizers are provided on each table, the staff is wearing masks , a form was asked to fill up for traceability if a case occurs and tables were cleaned and sanitized after used as I observed. The dining area is roomy and airy although I have noticed that it lacks decors that should compliment its rustic theme. I enjoyed the choice of music played during our visit. Overall . This is my go-to spot for korean fried chicken! I'm so glad this location opened up last year. There is dine-in, takeout, and a free parking lot! Upon sitting down, they give you free popcorn that tastes like a mix of cumin and other seasonings. My usual order is the medium combo of soy garlic wings and kimchi fries. There is also a spicy version of wings and you can purchase a combo of small, medium, and large. They have other dishes as well if you're not into wings & drinks if you're coming for a night out. Was a little shocked that they franchised it and now we have multiple locations! Can't complain. As for the chicken. It's good. Chicken are great. I ordered the soy sauce chicken. They came up crispy and fresh BUT service is not so good. The manager yelled at me and was very rude. I came here during Dec 25th. I understand it is holiday and perhaps he would like to go home to celebrate with family and relatives, but he outta be professional and treat well the customers otherwise I wouldn't come back, and voila, I ain't coming back. Love getting the wings from mad for chicken. We ordered half and half wings with soy garlic and spicy to share and the spicy ones came out really spicy. Get a drink too, it goes well with the wings :) There's a cool wall art at the back of the building! Lots of seating available in the front and back of the place! There's also parking available in the back, just double check to make sure the sign is for mad for chicken. I like how they block off the entire block around here so people can enjoy eating out while maintaining social distancing. Mad for chicken started these Cajun boil and is marketing it as Mad Boil. Wanted to give it a try to see how it was and it was a very disappointed experience. Order the take out for mussel and snow crab and order additional items of corn, ramyun noodles, eggs, rice cakes and kielbasa. With all of those additional items added, you would think it would be enough for 3-4 people but the portion of everything was very small. The rice cake was no more than 10 pieces, the noodle was maybe half a pack of the ramen noodles. If you would want to try these Mad Boil I would recommend somewhere else. Tried this place for the first time a few weeks ago and was expecting to have the best chicken of my life. I mean, the only thing on the menu is chicken, salad, some more chicken, and fries. To be honest the best thing that I tried at this joint has to be the fries. Haha the fries were really good! And I pretty much ate the entire basket. Now in terms of the chicken, it could be because we didn't try the right flavor or spice. Perhaps next time we just have to try a different flavor. I heard soy ginger is good? I visited there today along with 150 students and staff from my school to enjoy Korean cuisine. The food was really amazing and the service was incredibly impressive. We enjoyed the fried dumpling, bulgogi over rice, and chicken wings. Looking forward to returning with my own family to try the other great items on the menu. read more

The wait is always so long, so unfortunately this isn't really the place for a quick meal. I've been here twice once when the restaurant was packed and once when it was nearly completely empty. Somehow, I waited around an hour to get the food after ordering each time- and I only ordered the chicken! If you have the patience to stick around long enough, the wings are delicious. I tried the boneless wings my first time there and it was so dry that I avoided it for two years. The second time, I got bone in and that was delicious. I usually go to the location on northern but decided to come to the one in bayside. It's not the first time I come to the one in bayside but did not have the best experience today. The food itself is very good, I ordered their crispy chicken bowl which is supposed to come with guacamole but they had no avocados. My aunt also ordered an avocado salad but again no avocados. The waitress did let us know there was no avocados but didn't mention anything about the guacamole. I asked if she could compensate something for the lack of guacamole so she gave me extra chicken. There was also no juice boxes to come with the kids meal. It seemed like this location was slacking on a lot of items today. What I didn't really appreciate was the waitress' attitude. She did not pass by the table often, if I didn't ask for an alternative for the lack of guacamole and avocado, she wouldn't have offered. Service is extremely important, as important as food quality. The manager is very helpful and friendly at this location which I greatly appreciated when I spoke to her about my concerns. This is a 3.5* for me. The restaurant is still in soft opening mode and limited menu. Missing a few touches that Flushing location has (or could be pandemic related -- like no bucket for chicken bones) though making the best of the situation. It's great that they have converted the parking lot into the outdoor dining. For a party of 3, we got seated after 40 minutes on a Friday at 8:00PM (got there around 7:20PM) since there were quite a few people in front of us. We got nachos (great appetizer while waiting for the chicken takes a while) and order chicken (1 large order each of wings and drumsticks) with half and half (soy garlic and spicy garlic). If you like spicy, this is for you. Soy garlic is for delicious though I needed the chips to balance out the flavor. A more popular Korean chicken joint amongst the non Koreans. The happy hours is a little lacking but that just means even without happy hour you wouldn't be missing out on much. The drinks were great - popular of the night was the soju flight (lychee soju on HH) and sangria (on HH). The regular drumsticks are very large in size so if that's off putting for you - don't recommend; but for those that enjoy things like that (ie: Turkey legs) - go for it. Only the wings come with alot more different flavors with a cap at 3 types for each large order. I personally found the wings to be better in taste to the drumsticks.
