Love this place! Awesome views of the marina! So adorable, love the tropical beachy colors. Coconut shrimp was really good! Very pricey. We didn't love the tuna avocado appetizer.

If you have kids, I would definitely highly recommend coming here. The playground was perfect for my children to play while we were able to order our food in peace. Once the food came, the kids were able to come up and down to us to eat and go back and play. We sat at a table that was by the stairs so we were able to see our children from there which worked out perfectly for us. The food itself was average. But the views and the "childcare." Was perfect.

This place is so fun and perfect for families. The atmosphere and service were both great. Food was great, especially the tuna poke wontons. Highly recommend

This place was a total home run. The business model alone sold us but the food and pirate ship playset will have us coming back! They were super efficient, just pick a seat sit wherever you want, first come first serve. A waitress came up within minutes to take our order. There are runners running food out as it comes up and bus boys clearing empty plates as they find them. The waitress was super attentive, the food was fast, it's definitely upscale seafood bar food. Everything we ordered was absolutely great. And we ended dinner with our son playing on the pirate ship playset and he was sold too. The ambience is 10 out of 10. Can't recommend it enough!

One of Cape May areas few water front spots. I sat at the bar to grab a quick bite to eat. The bar has frozen drink slushie machines. I went for the local go to, an Orange Crush. The bartender was a familiar face from their other restaurant owned by MV and was friendly. I had the Tuna Poke Crisps. They were very good. The server recommended the Fish Cubano Wrap. I'll be back to try. They have a playground for the kids and boat docking. It's outside so bring a jacket or sweatshirt for cool nights.

Visited this new entirely outdoor dock bar and grill at Snug Harbor marina last night with a friend. Will definitely return. Turning off the access road brings you into parking lot with decent amount of spaces. Restaurant was really busy but we were able to find a spot quickly. The business is adjacent to the marina behind the large building that houses the kitchen and bathrooms. They have a dog friendly section next to the bay with a handful of tables on your right where you can self serve, ordering food and drinks from the bar. Very nice. Walking up a short set of stairs to the main area brought us into a very lively scene. No indoor table seating at all, but an extended roof and lots of umbrellas provide coverage from the sun. Our server Melissa told us they're planning to install some extendable canopies as well. I'd be careful coming here with bad weather in the forecast as it could get windy and wet. There is no hostess, you seat yourself at an open table. I overall like this so you can grab the location you prefer. And I'm used to it from going to bar top seating over the years. I can see though why this may irk some people who don't want to hunt around on a busy night. My buddy and I found a perfect table within five minutes. It was busy but there are lots of tables and we passed up a few less attractive options. Upon sitting down our server came over right away. For a new place I'd say overall they are well staffed and well trained. My expectations were lower thinking they had to work out some kinks. Melissa did a very good job. Handling a couple round of drinks, some food and getting us on our way. They specialize in frozen drinks, which my friend enjoyed. You can get them in a signature refillable koozy cup. My Paloma was decent; I wish it was offered with a tahine rim to contrast the tartness. I didn't order a second one, instead trying a whiskey based Lingonberry drink I enjoyed more. (I've become a Paloma snob at one point so I have a high standard). Neither cocktail seemed very boozy which was fine with me. My friend's orange frozen drink was supplemented by a vodka floater add-on for a few bucks more. He was a big fan. I saw some beers on the menu but not a lot. Like ten or less. The frozen drink machines take up a good deal of bar space and that seems like their niche. Sitting there on the bay looking at the water and sunset, people around us having a good time, we both agreed this is what a relaxing Jersey shore summer scene is all about. Feeling the good vibes we ordered some dinner. Grilled street corn Caesar salad for me, tacos for my friend.. Both came out fast and were excellent. This salad was so cleverly constructed, I will visit again just to have that. Avocado, corn and cornbread croutons complement the traditional romaine lettuce. The bill came to around $90 altogether which felt right for the food, drinks and experience. We paid the server directly, no drop the check, pay, wait, etc. Some other points to highlight: 1) heavy Nordic theme throughout. Skol! 2) There is an awesome Viking ship and sand playground area adjacent to the far end of the seating area. Couples or friends with young kids can relax at dinner and keep an eye on their kids in a contained space. Someone planned that really well. 3) tables move easily so you can piece together a large group seating by yourself. Only low point was a small men's bathroom (one urinal, one stall) which got a little gross. There is probably another one where we entered that I missed. Overall I'll definitely be back at the Mad Viking this summer and I recommend you give it a try as well!

My 3rd time here did not disappoint but could be better. The grilled shrimp tacos were good and came with chips and their peach salsa. Nachos were pretty good but for $15 put some more toppings on there than 10 beans and some corn. The stuffies were great as always. Love the frozen drinks but a 6 year old could drink 2 and not get a buzz. Get the extra shot to add and perfect. On par with other places... $13 if you add the shot. The vibe is obviously great. Chilling in the sun and breeze at the marina. Staff have all been really cool.

They honored our reservation and seated us five minutes early. They started us off with two pieces of their excellent focaccia. The pesto dip was better than the chili oil. The calamari app was excellent - tender rings, chunks of pork belly, shrimp, and a spicy tomato sauce. The artichoke app comprised two long stem hearts, with stems, and a Parmigiano topping. Good but not at the level of the calamari. Next up a composed mixed green salad with generous shaved Parmigiano. Complimentary! The thick slice of halibut was on point. Moist, perfectly cooked. Not an afterthought by any means. The 20 oz. Cowboy cut rib steak was tender and perfectly seasoned but maybe a degree or two past medium rare. The side of grilled vegetables was splendid. And another freebie -- dessert for two -- butter cakes with cream and chocolate crunch. Sort of like a deconstructed tiramisu. Also delicious. Service managed to be friendly and professional. A great experience and a solid value. The ambiance was modern steakhouse. Would have preferred some jazz on the playlist, but no complaints. I would definitely return.

We were fortunate enough to snag a 6:30 p.m. reservation at the last minute. Normally reservations need to be made well in advance, so I'm guessing we benefited from a cancellation. We arrived around 6:00 p.m. and were told we'd be seated in a few minutes. There was a table for four right at the front that we assumed was ours. As it turned out, it was--but they wouldn't seat us until our actual reservation time. It wasn't a huge deal, but it was a little frustrating to see the table sitting empty while we waited another 30 minutes. Once we were seated, everything else reminded us why we enjoy coming here. The food was every bit as good as we remembered. One of the things that makes Primal unique is that the steaks are wood-grilled, giving them a nice char on the outside while staying perfectly cooked inside. My son and I both ordered the 8-ounce filet, my other son went with the impressive 22-ounce ribeye, and my wife chose the surf and turf with a 6-ounce filet and lobster. Every meal was cooked exactly as ordered and absolutely delicious. Another nice touch is that your meal includes complimentary fresh-baked bread, a salad, and dessert. On this visit, dessert was mini donuts filled with salted caramel, and they were outstanding--the perfect sweet ending to the meal. The service wasn't quite as polished as we remembered from our first visit, but it was still friendly and attentive enough that it didn't take away from the overall experience. A couple of tips for first-time visitors: Primal is BYOB, so don't forget to bring your favorite bottle. When making reservations, you can also choose between seating near the open kitchen, where you can watch the chefs at work, or the ocean-side dining area, which offers a beautiful view. We always look forward to dining at Primal whenever we're at the shore, and we're so glad we were able to grab a last-minute reservation. We'll definitely be back again.

For appetizers, we ordered the stuffed long hots with sausage, shrimp cocktail, and burrata--all of which were delicious. My wife and I both chose steak for our entrées. She had the New York strip, and I ordered the ribeye. Surprisingly, the ribeye had very little fat and was cooked to perfection. Our entrées were served with mashed potatoes and broccoli, which complemented the meal nicely. Our server, Sam, was prompt, attentive, and provided excellent service throughout the evening. The spaces are fairly narrow, though, so be careful to park fully between the white lines. If you come in through the back entrance near the bar, you'll need to turn right and walk all the way to the front to find the hostess stand. The bar-area staff seemed a little annoyed when people asked where the hostess stand or restrooms were, although I imagine they probably get those questions often. The hostess was pleasant and seated us promptly. One note for anyone who tends to get cold: bring a cardigan or light jacket. There was a floor vent right beside our table, and I got pretty chilly as the evening went on. The menu offered a wide range of options, from pork chops and duck to salmon, but I was not especially excited by many of the pairings. I started with the crab soup and ordered the blackened sea bass special with coconut rice for my entrée. For the table, we shared the bang bang shrimp and burrata. Both were adequately portioned for our party of five. The bang bang shrimp had the right amount of heat, and the burrata was a nice combination of warm pita bread, portobello mushroom, cooked red peppers, fresh greens, and burrata. I would recommend both appetizers. My crab soup arrived hot and was perfectly seasoned. The spice level was just right, and I liked the balance of small strips of crab throughout, along with a few larger pieces. In my opinion, it had an excellent ratio of crab meat, vegetables, and broth. Unfortunately, the entrées were less impressive. They were all beautifully presented--colorful and nicely portioned--but the flavors left something to be desired. My sea bass was certainly blackened, but I would have enjoyed it much more if the skin had been crisp. Instead, it was soggy, likely because it was placed directly on top of the coconut rice, which also became soggy. The mango pieces were larger than necessary, and there was far too much of the tomato, green pepper, and onion mixture on top. At $46, I expected more in terms of flavor. On a positive note, our waitress was friendly and professional, and the young man who brought out our food was pleasant as well. The food also arrived quickly. Since this was my first visit to the area, I would like to explore other local restaurants before returning. Still, I would not be opposed to giving Oyster Bay Restaurant & Bar another chance and trying a different entrée--possibly the swordfish.
