Incredible pizzas, but irritating atmosphere, unfortunately. After 16 hours on the road, we stopped in Redlands, CA for the night. Craving pizza, we found MFS. We were instantly turned off by the extremely loud music, but figured we'd endure it because we were too tired to walk any more. I get what the place is trying to do with the decor, menu names, and live DJ, but the space is far too small and lacks the acoustics to make the music enjoyable. No one is listening to the music. No one is paying attention to the DJ. Everyone wants to either enjoy conversation with the people they are with or watch the big screen TVs behind the bar. I know this might make me sound old, but the DJ had the music so loud that I honestly couldn't hear anything. When our server came by, I found myself just giving a thumbs up because I couldn't hear her even when she was standing right next to me. My girlfriend and I barely talked during dinner because we had to practically shout just to hear each other. I understand the idea of having a DJ to create a fun vibe, but for us, it ended up taking away from the experience. It is pulled out of a sleeve like a vinyl record. How creative. Then upon looking around, and seeing the decor of 45s on the wall, and an LP jacket painting, we started to catch on. A big plus is the full bar with the Beat Junkies proprietary IPA (hard to find), and a good wine and cocktail list for the non-beer crowd. Other pluses: -Top notch service and friendly staff who checked on me frequently -Sports on the bar TVs -Clean bathroom with funky decor -Live, open format DJ sets from world class technicians, with music of all genres That last one is a big one. This is a pizza spot heavily inspired by DJ culture, and created for and by music enthusiasts. Stopped by on a Sunday thinking it was going to be packed but it wasn't... maybe 4 tables being served and a few ppl at the bar. Pretty empty. Good for us we were thinking.... It was a warm day and the water that was served could have had ice in it. Anywho the waitress took our order. And we thought it was quite odd that we were waiting so long a salad when there were hardly any ppl there. So it gave me time to observe everything. Our waitress was playing with her hair the whole time, a couple times scratched her scalp then she continued playing with her hair. I told my husband this might be the last time we come. 20 min later we finally got our salad ( as I said before bomb dressing). And then 10 min later our pizza. The reason for the star is for the hair playing around food, very unsanitary. I was almost .... Very close to not coming back cuz of the hair and very slow service on a slow day. This was our first time and they really impressed us! Made reservations for 10 ahead of time and table was ready when we got there. Our server was amazing, she constantly came to check on us. Went on a Saturday night around the holiday weekends so the place wasn't too busy. We got seated immediately and servers were very attentive and easy to get ahold of. Tried out the meatballs and wings for appetizers. The meatballs were large and tasty. We got parmesan for the wings and the sauce is good but the size and the amount of meat in the wings is what caught my attention. For pizza, we got the truffle mushroom and the baked potato which is the special. I liked the truffle mushroom but I feel like the flavors are fully there. Not enough goat cheese or truffle taste. The baked potato really surprised me! Probably my favorite thing that I had there that day. Overall a great experience and I want to try their other pizzas especially the more unique flavors. I probably will try my best to not go there in the weekend, there was live music which was unproportionally too loud for me. It was hard talking to the servers.
