This place is still on my list of neighborhood faves. We still go quite often for acai bowls or boba drinks. They don't really have seating like they used to when they first opened. It's more like a grab and go spot now (which is kind of a bummer because it was a great place to hang out). Besides that, they still make great drinks and acai bowls and also sell a bunch of locally made snacks and other products. Check them out, support local and support their cause!

Made in Hope. Many people do not realize that many women & children have been victimized through sex exploitation (trafficking). The nonprofit Made in Hope organization, located in Wailuku, Maui, brings global awareness of this issue to the public by providing education & awareness, as well as rescues women & children survivors to break the exploitation & secure their freedom while providing hope & a future (Jeremiah 29:11). This Made in Hope Community Center also educates youth on human trafficking & hosts gatherings of various organizations (many of them churches), thereby building many partnerships to support these issues. These gatherings allow staff to train key individuals of these issues so that they, in turn, can provide awareness to their members. Staff have had speakers at the University of HI - Maui College & participated in the annual Maui County Fair, have done sign waving, organized camps for trafficking survivors from the Philippines, & others. As an offshoot, the Made in Hope Café was opened in 2017 by co-partner owners Michelle Tolentino & husband-wife team, Chris & Mari Kanemura (who also own the mochi store, Fujiya in HNL), to provide financial support for the Made in Hope vision. Peter Selvey, a board member of the nonprofit Made in Hope, is the Director of Operations of the café. Management & staff all are staunch supporters of the Made in Hope mission with Christian values in spreading the love of God. Proceeds from the café go directly to the nonprofit Made in Hope to subsidize its activities. The café serves milk teas, black tea, Jasmine green tea, lemonade, acai bowls, & pitaya (dragon fruit) bowls. Teas & lemonade come in numerous flavors with various toppings & in three sizes (slim, regular, large). There are lots of toppings to choose from: boba (regular, mini, mixed); jellies (coffee, lychee, mango, strawberry, etc.); poppings (lychee, mango, lilikoi, strawberry); & other goodies (caramel/choc drizzle, oreo crumble, condensed milk, ice cream, custard pudding, butterfinger candy bits, etc.). They also offer a cute mason jar with the Made in Hope name imprinted on it; use it for drink refills at a discounted cost. There are also acai bowls & pitaya (dragon fruit) bowls with the same available toppings. There is a poster noting a dozen of their most popular drinks which will help you to decide what to order. The front of the café has a cute area of various items for sale: Bibles, Christian books, note cards, jewelry, t-shirts, candies including li hing gummies, bottled sauces, syrups, seasonings, cookies, coffee, snacks, etc. Items are artistically displayed with cute signs on wooden shelves. We ordered the following: * #7 Li Hing Pineapple (large size). This li hing + pineapple Jasmine green tea + pineapple jellies drink is so refreshing and delicious! I couldn't believe how big the cup was & the generous amount of pineapple jellies in it! * Acai Bowl (regular size). This bowl included 100% organic acai, 100% organic granola, strawberries, bananas, honey, & lychee jellies (free basic topping of my choice). The tasty acai was very creamy & tasty, with the consistency of sherbet. The acai, fruits, & granola complemented & contrasted with each other well with the crunchiness of the granola & soft fruit consistency. Perfect! Both the tea & acai bowl were excellent, as they were delicious & had generous amounts of toppings. Management noted that quality ingredients are used, as feedback from customers are seriously reviewed with changes made accordingly. Customer service is on point. The friendly staff patiently answered my many questions & helped me to decide what to order. Nice to hear "thank you, have a wonderful day!" as you leave! The café participates in the Five Stars Reward Program. Don't forget to punch in your phone number to get $1 off each drink. The café was recently remodeled to provide four counter seats. In addition, there are tables/chairs that are mostly used by youth to study (free wi-fi), hang out, or play board games. However, Covid required major changes that no one was allowed inside, so a huge tent was erected in its outside parking lot that proved to be very popular, as youth had a place to go to in being with their friends instead of being at home during the pandemic. They are slowly transitioning back to pre-Covid times. Hours of operation are: Mon to Fri 10:30a to 6p, Sat 12n to 6p, & Sun closed. The café is located next to the JB,S Restaurant (Korean food) in the same blue-colored building, so two different tenants. It's easy to miss the café if you're driving, as the building is set back, with the parking in the front. Free parking is available. What a worthy cause in purchasing these drinks, knowing that I am helping to bring awareness of this important issue of human trafficking. I am happy to be first in line for their drinks & acai/pitaya bowls! Can't wait to return to try their many flavorful drinks!

Was chaperoning a group of 14 kids on a field trip to Maui. The kids kept coming back daily and as a chaperone I would watch them, of course having milk tea also lol. I didn't have the bad service mentioned before in previous reviews, perhaps there are new workers? The two people we saw that the counter were courteous and smiling. Overall, the group enjoyed the snack selection and the milk tea on it's one merits. But the fact the profits are used to support victims of trafficking makes supporting this business extra nice. It's hard to run a business so the fact that profits from hard work are going to a greater cause is just awesome.

Made in Hope Cafe shares the same parking lot as JB's Kitchen. It is not unusual to find the parking lot full and a lot of people standing around. This cafe is a takeout window due to COVID. They make great bubble teas. If it's your first time ask to see their cup sizes. Their medium would be a large at most places on Oahu. This place is busy, especially after school. It offers a wide selection of teas with or without boba. The menu board is next to the window. There is a plexiglass shield that protects their employee, but makes it difficult to hear. Overall, it's a great value for what you get.

    Broken Cup

At first it seems like a nice spot to get boba. Boba is very mid and nothing special. Hard boba, but that's the only negative. The thing that made the experience bad was the cups and staff. The straws are paper which made it very difficult to even get into the cup. Next the cup just broke on impact of the straw. The cup leaked and I lost a third of my drink. That was okay as technically my party broke the cup. However, I did not appreciate the attitude from the staff. We tried to clean up the leak made. However, one staff even rolled her eyes in our face as we tried to ask for paper towels. Lastly, I couldn't clean up as the same girl yelled at me for trying to use the bathroom to wash my hands and get additional towels. I get restrooms may be for staff and I was trying to help clean so the tone wasn't really appreciated. Love the tone and mission of the establishment but wished my experience was better.

Açaí Bowl (regular + Nutella) - VN

My açaí bowl virginity has finally been had, LOL! I've heard of them but never knew what they were exactly. I thought I was getting a bowl of yogurt with fruits and other toppings. Turns out the açaí is a South American palm tree and it's the berries that you're eating! THE BUSINESS: The Made In Hope Café is a branch of the Made In Hope non-profit organization that assists women and children that have been trafficked for sex. While I have yet to step foot inside the shop (located next to JB's Kitchen in Wailuku), a co-worker did a run for us. THE GOODS: Açaí Bowl Available in three sizes, I got the regular size which is a medium. Aside from the blended, deep-red açaí berry, you also get granola, honey, fresh cut strawberries and fresh sliced bananas. One "basic" topping is included in which I chose graham crackers (others are caramel drizzle, coconut, chocolate chips, chocolate drizzle, fruit jellies, fruit poppings, marshmallow bits, mini or regular boba, mochi and Oreo crumble. They also have premium toppings which cost a bit more. I opted for Nutella. Other premium toppings are bee pollen, blueberries, brownie bites, chia seeds, condensed milk, mango, peanut butter powder, pineapple, sea salt cream and white chocolate chips. Because our bowls were delivered after lunch, I put mine in the fridge to eat the next day as I was full. Bad idea, more so for the Nutella which clumped up but softened after being out for an hour. The liquid base of açaí berries tasted like a traditional berry sauce, lightly sweetened by the honey. If you're wondering, the açaí is void of any crunchy seeds inside, so it's very smooth and not tart. The chocolatey Nutella and flavors from the fruits all blended well together, providing for a fresh, creamy and light breakfast. They also sell a variety of coffees, teas, other beverages, bagels and small food items. OVERALL: I'm not a huge fan of fruits but I really liked it. It was a very nice change from my hearty, unhealthy breakfasts!

My first time here since they opened up the inside. Very clean and cute inside. I've always gotten various boba drinks but decided to branch out and try an acai bowl. It was just ok. I probably wouldn't get one again. Too doused in honey for my taste and it wasn't completely filled up to the top for the size of the container. Boba however was delicious! Definitely check them out next time you are in Wailuku!

Super cute boba shop next to JB restaurant. Lots of boba and tea options, as well as açaí. Super cute store merch and lots of merch from local companies. The service was super fast even though there were other customers. Definitely recommend!

Looking for a place where you can get a good cup of Joe, or maybe some kinda tea drink? Hungry & looking for some grub? Maybe a bagel sandwich, or an Acai bowl would satisfy your hunger....... Bruddah Fran is gonna give you da scoops........ Look no further gang............ as there is a great little cafe in lower Wailuku town called - Made in Hope Cafe! I mainly stopped by here one afternoon, as my coworker & I had to do some paperwork, and not knowing where to go........my coworker suggest we stop by this Christian based business to get some drinks, and finish up our paperwork. Located in lower Wailuku town, "Made in Hope Cafe" is a small cute cafe with a quaint decor. The cafe is the perfect place to sit & relax if you need a quiet place to do some homework, or even play a few board games. The hand crafted drinks here are amazing, as the day I came here I needed a good strong cup of Joe, so I ended up getting a Americano, and my coworker got an Almond Milk Tea w/ Boba. Drinks here were great, and I'm looking forward to returning one day...........maybe I'll try one of them delicious Acai Bowl? This Christian based business supports and addresses the issue of human trafficking (sex trafficking), to break the cycle of exploitation and to secure their freedom through education, sustaining job opportunities, & helping care in the healing process. Please kokua this local business, as their business platform is for a worthy cause..........

Made in Hope easily has the best boba in Maui. I've been here for over a year now and only NOW discovered that they can make the drinks blended!!! My husband and I prefer our boba drinks blended, so finding this out was a game changer for us. I'd never gotten their milk tea until today because I got it blended. If there's no slush, smoothie, or blended option at a boba place, I go for the lemonades. I don't like milk tea just as is. But finding out you can have your drinks blended for a small upcharge opened up all the options for us! Iced drinks get devoured so quickly, that's why I prefer blended. It takes just a little longer to consume which makes it feel way more worth the money. Think I'll be making trips here more frequently now that I know they can blend my drink lol!

These little gems of deliciousness are so good it's our first stop after leaving the airport. We have been to the location on the big island many times, love the family that works so hard to prepare the orders and are so friendly and remember the regulars. This was our first time at this location in Maui and as always our first stop from the airport, Sabrina works this location friendly and ready to serve you. There are a variety of malasada on their menu but we always go for the original with sugar sprinkles on. When they come out and handed to you they are hot and soft and really you can't eat just one. I have tried some of the filled Malasadas with the traditional Hawaiian filling and Nutella filling, both are just as good but you just can't beat the traditional. So when you want to try something new like em' up and head to the nearest location, you will not be disappointed. Bravissima Manuela's! Ciao

Exactly what I expect out of a malasada. I had the li hing with the lilikoi filling. My child had cinnamon and sugar with Nutella and then we had one plain coated in sugar. The filling was delicious, but I also enjoyed the plain one coated and sugar because it was hot and squishy and fabulous. Wish I had some hot coffee to enjoy with it. We sat in our car right there and power ate them. The only downside was having to drive to a gas station afterward (with an awning) to get out and brush myself off from all the sugar. The reviews are correct. This place is banging. Would I happily wait an hour? Hard no. Hahaha but if you're going to do that, go down the block to Thai Me Up first, and get some cashew chicken and eat that while you wait. A very delicious food truck excursion was had.
