Prices. Two pounds flounder 68 dollars. Crazy. I'll just go out for dinner. Plus the guy was a little rude.

We loved the food, sadly almost no one there the night we dined but we enjoyed the bartender and the attention - definitely will try again!

They had a fresh catch of grouper that day, so we decided to try the grouper nuggets. They're market price, but absolutely worth it. Even our friend preferred them over his fried fish. The batter was light, crispy, and delicious. Our kids ordered the bacon cheese fries and loved them. Just a heads-up: they use a nacho cheese sauce rather than shredded cheese, which some people may prefer to know ahead of time. Our friend from Massachusetts ordered the lobster sub (also market price) and said it was worth every penny. My husband and I split the grouper nuggets and the Philly cheesesteak. The bread is brought in from up north, and our server's recommendation did not disappoint. The sandwich was rich, flavorful, and one of the highlights of the meal. We also tried the onion rings. They use a beer batter, which wasn't our favorite, but that's more of a personal preference than a criticism. Overall, we'd definitely return if we're in the area again. The only downside was parking--$29.99 for two hours is pretty brutal. Thankfully, the food and atmosphere helped make up for it.

So when I found myself six months later back in Johns Pass looking at the same stupid pirate ship, I thought, I bet Lauren and Kent recommend a good place within walking distance since they know the area. They were completely worthless for any kind of recommendation. I asked them about this place and they had never been or even knew its name. All they could tell me about with some bar to go visit around the corner. Clearly they have their priorities. Had the fried clams and some shrimp. They were good. It's pretty hard to screw up fried stuff.... I think I should've ordered one of the sandwiches, they looked much better. Service was great. Kept my drink refilled and we were very attentive.

I'll lead with my concluding comment from my dinner last night: "I think this is the best snapper…read moreI've ever eaten." (As a Florida resident, I've had quite a lot!) Snappers was packed at 6:30pm on a Tuesday night. However, as it was late July, we were able to get a table outside right away. There are fans to help with the heat, and it's well ventilated so there was a nice breeze. Our server was prompt and friendly. The menu was seafood with an Asian flair. We started with the crab stuffed portobello (probably the weakest part of the meal) and delicious coconut shrimp. After that, our entrees came with salads, which were also great (tortilla chips and a zesty dressing made it more fun than your usual house salad, but it didn't feel too decadent). I got the snapper, which was served over coconut rice and with a delicious curry sauce and mango chutney. The curry reminded me more of thinner Japanese curry versus Indian or Thai, which I loved. The snapper itself was a nicely-sized piece and was cooked/seasoned perfectly with a hint of spice. The coconut sticky rice was so addictive!! The sweetness of the mango chutney just made each bite a wonderful flavor explosion. I would 100% recommend this dish. My husband got the coconut cashew crusted mahi, which was also excellent (and another huge portion of fish). It seems like you can't go wrong here with a fish dish!

So nice we had to visit TWICE…read more The coconut crusted mahi mahi was a highlight. It was soft and fully coated with obviously real coconut - not sugared or overly sweet. It was a huge fillet, which makes up for having some smaller sides. I'll let you in on a little secret, I only eat fish when it's locally caught and fresh and this was worth it 100%. The house salad with Pima colada dressing has me imagining how to make this dressing at home. Sweet and creamy and easily coating every leaf. The bread at the start of the meal for a disproportionate amount of attention from my family. It was served hot, with garlic and maybe other seasonings across the top, and generous sides of butter. Our initial server, Kyle, kept the bread flowing for us until the meal came and it was fantastic. We gave the potato skins a try, and they were delicious! My family ironically isn't huge conch / shelled fish eaters so the rest of the appetizers didn't suit us much and this was a lil Midwest taste while on vacation. We returned to try the jalapeño crusted grouper and were again very satisfied. Totally different than the coconut mahi, it's savory and well flavored but leaves you far from begging for water. The fish is thick and flaky and the sauce was similar to a bang bang sauce to pair it all together. The favorite sides were loaded baked potato and garlic smashed potatoes! I'd say it's a must visit during your trip to Madeira !

Everything tasted fresh, the portions were generous, and the quality was fantastic. We'll definitely be back the next time we're at the beach. Although the restaurant has beautiful waterfront seating, we chose to sit inside since it was very hot outside. We started with the Louisiana Seafood Gumbo (bowl, $13.97), which was delicious. The Chicken Wings ($13.89 for 6 pieces) were outstanding and crispy on the outside, tender and juicy on the inside. They were definitely my favorite dish of the meal. We also tried the Shrimp-N-Grits ($27.97), which was a unique combination of Argentine red shrimp, creamy cheese grits, sausage, tomatoes, scallions, and other ingredients. It was flavorful and different from anything we've had before. The Jambalaya ($21.93) was just okay. It had plenty of ingredients, but it was a little too salty for my taste. The service was excellent, and the staff were friendly and attentive. The restaurant also has a full bar and, I believe, live music in the evenings, making it a great place to relax. We'll definitely come back the next time we're in St. Pete Beach.

This is the kind of place that feels like it's been around forever, in the best way. Spacious for the area, lively without being chaotic, and backed by attentive service that keeps things moving even when it's busy. The menu is extensive, and then just when you think you've seen it all, there's a specials board tucked away with even more to choose from. If you can time your visit right, Tuesday is the move. They run a buy one pound, get one pound half off deal on snow crab legs, and it's easily one of the best values around. The snow crab legs are fresh and satisfying, and the Dungeness crab holds its own as well. Both pair perfectly with their rich, drawn butter, simple but done right. Portion sizes here are no joke. The shrimp skewers are almost excessive in the best way. Three skewers loaded with roughly eight shrimp each, so you're looking at around two dozen shrimp total, all a solid medium-large size. It's the kind of dish that makes you pause when it hits the table. The shrimp pasta is another standout and clearly a house favorite. It's packed with flavor and easily one of the more memorable dishes on the menu. Good enough that ordering a second one to-go actually makes sense. The clam chowder, though, was the one miss. While it's loaded with plenty of clam meat and has a hearty base, there's a slightly smoky flavor that throws it off. If you're a chowder fan, it might not hit the mark. Probably something to skip next time. As for the crab cakes, they passed a pretty tough test. A Maryland native at the table gave them a strong approval, which says a lot. Pro tip: Get there early, ideally around lunch, if you want to lock in that snow crab deal. It's popular, and you don't want to risk missing out. Overall, this is a reliable, crowd-pleasing seafood spot that leans into big portions, solid execution, and a relaxed coastal vibe. Whether you're a local or just visiting St. Pete Beach, it's an easy recommendation and definitely worth a return trip.
