I've been to this location a few times and have always had a very positive experience. The store is always kept neat and tidy, and the staff are super friendly and helpful, and went above and beyond on a couple of occasions. I came in one day to go shopping for denim shorts. I've always had a hard time finding ones that fit me and make me feel comfortable, but the associate that helped me that day was so patient and kind, even when I kept asking for additional sizes and styles to try on. Even though I didn't buy any that day, she let me know additional sizes and styles were available online to order in case I wanted to order some and try them on at home. During my most recent trip, I lost my car keys and went frantically searching through the mall to try to find them. An associate was able to find them and went out into the mall to help get them back to me. I've never received anything but five star service at Madewell and as a curvy lady shopping for jeans, that's hard to come by. High-wasted jeans have become my bag since about four years ago. When I bought my first pair of mid-rise jeans in 2013, little did I know my world would change forever. Mom jeans? No way. No saggy bottoms here. I graduated from mid-rise to high-rise a few years later and then discovered Madewell. The gals working are super nice if you ask for help. That's the key to any retail store really. Ask. For. Help. Yeah yeah, it can be really annoying when folks work on commission and are just trying to make a sale but I've never had someone here tell me that something looked good on me that didn't. They keep it real and will even grab you a few pieces if you're looking for something specific. Anyway, if you're an everyday jeans wearer like myself, highly recommend Madewell denim. Some of the most unfriendly retail staff I have ever been exposed to. I recently visited the store in hopes to buy at least 3 pairs of jeans. My husband and toddler (who was in a stroller) accompanied me while I shopped around. We were approached by one employee (short, big red-hair with messy side part), who passive-aggressively asked if I wanted to try on any of the jeans while I was looking for my size at their "jean bar". In the midst of searching for the right size, she was hastily folding denim around me like I was a monster terrorizing the store. It was so abrasive that I began to ignore her. She subsequently tapped out and tapped another employee in (tall, blonde with an irritated face), who was openly impolite and was physically taking jeans from my hands. She then went through the sizes I selected and proceeded to tell me that I had chosen the wrong sizes for my body type... 1. I am a grown woman and you are lucky I didn't dropkick you. 2. I have worked in and have managed retail. If you want a sale you do not alienate the customer; especially when it has to do with their body. 3. If you hate your job so much that you are willing to treat complete strangers like shit. Quit. I was so taken aback by her behavior that I simply took the jeans that I had originally selected and got my own dressing room. My husband who sees redeeming qualities in most thought she was a mean-spirited human being. I ended up leaving the store with zero purchases and instead bought $400 worth of denim from J.Crew and Levis. Moral of the story: The power is in the dollar and in reviews. read more

Misleading sales practices! I really do not appreciate being mislead. If a sign outside your store says "30% off EVERYTHING", then I expect it to be, well, everything! This isn't to say I wouldn't have bought the items if they weren't on sale, but finding out at the register (when you tried to charge me full price for everything) left a bad taste in my mouth. However, recent experiences with Madewell, specifically their customer service, has forced me to make the decision to shop elsewhere. Snooty employees. Even by northeast standards (where I'm originally from). Now THAT's pretty bad. Just moved to the area and was sincerely excited to check out one of their bags that I saw online - I was convinced this was the bag for me. The employees totally tainted my experience though. I went on a weeknight - I was the only customer. The two women working there looked straight at me as I walked in, but they didn't give the customary greeting when one walks in a store (I made eye contact and smiled). One of them even looked me up and down silently without smiling - totally sizing me up. The same woman then warmly greeted another customer who entered just several minutes later and offered help. Afterwards, she walked by me and AGAIN unsmilingly and silently looked me up and down. What gives? I was dressed casually, but my appearance was nowhere near unkempt. I checked the bottom of my shoes - no dog poop or anything, so I'm pretty sure I didn't smell. Not that these are valid reasons to alter one's treatment of another person anyway. I did not have this experience at any other stores in the mall that evening. Coming from the northeast, I'm actually used to and totally fine with minimal/"unfriendly" customer service (I even miss it sometimes), but I've never experienced the 'tudes that the employees at this location exhibited. The 2 stars are for the Madewell chain itself - I actually really like it. But they need to do some serious employee re-training at this location. read more

I was so excited to see a Madewell shop in Cherry Creek. I have been out of town a while, so did not realize that one had opened. The shop is merchandised beautifully, well stocked, well lit and the clothes are gorgeous. J Crew is just not quite my taste anymore, so I am pleased that Madewell's styles remind me of J Crew back when I could spend some money there. The staff was also very friendly, greeting me but not stalking me around the store (as I was their only customer at the time). The salesperson also made some excellent suggestions, and I appreciate her suggesting other shops in which I might find what I was looking for. I ended up spending way too much money. I've always been a fan of Madewell. I still am. Here's my issue with this location: -I was greeted 3 times but no one let me know some of the items I was debating between were an additional 30% off (no signage). -I asked if they could locate a size they were missing at another store, they said they couldn't check. -I asked if it was available in my size online still, they went to the computer and said yes it was available in the two sizes they were missing online but 10 minutes later back at work it was sold out in all sizes online. I think J. Crew's customer service is supposed to be a little better than this? read more

Dropped by on a Monday night around 7 and had a pleasant experience. I was greeted twice with nonchalant welcomes, no pressure at all. I was able to get a fitting room right away and folks were very pleasant about checking in and grabbing me a smaller size when needed (there's definitely some vanity sizing in Madewell shirts). I am in love with Madewell! I recently reviewed the Park Meadows location, and I'm just as much obsessed with this one. The clothes are casual chic, with many unique pieces featured in some of the top fashion magazines. The accessories are GORGEOUS and whimsical. Bulldog stud earrings, sheep necklace, and wispy cuff are some of the few insanely beautiful and quality made pieces that would enliven any outfit, and give some cool personality to clothes. The same goes for jean button-ups, currently a trend across the board for all designers. In fact, Madewell's trademark is its denim line. However, Madewell has a great selection of other clothing items, too. A variety of tops and blouses will keep you coming for your casual clothing needs. The selection of dresses will make Madewell your go-to place for a nice cocktail dress. And because this brand's clothes look simple, they can be worn for a walk in a park or dressed up for an evening date. The brand also carries shoes from flat boots to high-heels in beautiful colors. Tomboys and girly girls will all find something to like about the store. The superb quality of Madewell is what makes them shine above the rest. Denim and cotton items look and feel like they will survive much more than a single wash. The price for the items is steep, but the quality matches-after all, you get what you pay for. I've never reviewed a store before, but my experience at the Cherry Creek Madewell today warrants a step out of my comfort zone. I came in after volunteering at my kids' school, so I was dressed down, not at all posh, but not too sloppy, either. I'm middle aged, with gray hair. Probably not the Madewell target market, but I didn't look like the pariah the sales clerks treated me as. Two employees looked my way when I entered, but neither mustered a "welcome" or "hi." I walked around the store for 25 minutes with a leather jacket and two sweaters, but no one offered me a fitting room. When I got around to trying on my selections (and taking the obligatory dressing-room photos), at least two clerks hovered outside the changing room to see if I was "still in there." No offers of help whatsoever. When I was ready to check out but still browsing the items at the front of the store, the alarm sounded on the bag I was preparing to buy. Finally someone was ready to take my items! Everything was rushed from my hands and behind the counter with lightning speed. I bought the bag and a sweater, but opted not to get the leather jacket I had come in for. I'd rather buy it online than give the commission to one of the Madewell Sorority Girls. I felt so personally offended by my experience, but reading the reviews on Yelp, I shouldn't have taken it personally. Sounds like this is par for the course. I've been in here maybe ten times and like the other reviewers, the employees are pretty snooty. They have adorable (overpriced) clothes but I'm happy to get them on sale. It's just the other part that stinks--- walking around feeling peoples eyes following you everywhere(but not offering to help you), trying to get a room, checking out. While I love a store that lets you shop, the employees at this Madewell don't seem to care that customers are in the store. They hang out in the back and engage in conversation with each other around the demim tables, but never once greet you, offer to start a fitting room, or ask you if you need help, in true Madewell/J.Crew brand fashion. The few times I've been here, I actually noticed the employees leaving the area where you're shopping in order to avoid helping you. Because of this, I can't bring myself to actually make a purchase at this particular Madewell and I end up walking right out. I went to Madewell with the hopes of finding the perfect pair of jeans because I heard they have all shapes and sizes you can think of. I was very disappointed in the customer service though. The woman ( I think she was the manager) was so unhelpful in the process to the point of being rude. She almost demanded to know what exactly I didn't like. I was hoping for a person to help me find a fit taylored for me using her knowledge of her product. Sorely disappointed! I guess I saved $130. read more

I had no idea that Denver got a Madewell. Looks like it's been around for a couple years, too? Anyway, we have a really good one in Chicago, so although I am excited that Denver has one, they don't have quite the selection of the one in Chicago, or the size range. The shoe selection, for example, was extremely limited. Madewell has beautiful shoes, so that was disappointing. I went twice this week. On the first day, no one really helped me at all. When I tried something on, no one asked if they could get me another size or if things were ok. But the second time, I got a lot of personal attention and assistance, which I really appreciated. I'm not a diva but sometimes you need help when you're trying stuff on. That said, I got a great deal on a dress and the sales person even called around about another dress I was interested in but was too big. read more

I had purchased a pair of jeans that ended up not working out so I tried to return them yesterday. This seemed like it should be a pretty simple task.... I had my receipt, I had my debit card and I had the jeans with the tags on. They were not busy so I walked up to the counter explained I had changed my mind and would like to return these jeans. The girl at the counter was pretty inept at processing this return.... She literally tried 5 times and could NOT figure it out. So after the fifth try and blaming the " new touch pad system" she decided she would issue me a gift card and cash it out to my debit card. Umm this function couldn't be done. Finally she went to get one of the two out of five employees that could process a return. The girl next to me with her return was in and out while I had to endure a three ring circus! I finally got assistance and my return got processed...... I also got accused of trying to return it to a different card and that's why it wasn't working, which is untrue. I manage a store in San Francisco and I can honestly say all of my employees who handle the register are versed in purchases, returns etc...... These ladies need to get it together! Some employees need a good scolding. I personally like madewell, but there are couple employees there that are just so rude. I just walked into the store to see if I liked anything to buy, but you can't walk into a clothing shop expecting to buy something every time you walk in, there are those days to just stop to see if there is anything new in or anything new in sale, you would like to purchase. I wanted to check out their jeans and I can tell someone was literally guarding the jeans so that no one (customer) can come up and mess up the jean pile. I seriously felt like if I was asked to try something on, I had to leave buying a pair. The woman (girl?) who had short blonde hair (doesn't wear makeup, wore high-top vans sneakers), on the bigger side compared to the rest of the employees had terrible attitude asking if I needed a size with a terrible tone, seriously if you don't want to work retail quit or get a better attitude, part of your job is to be friendly and have good customer service skills and also part of your job is folding up the clothes and organizing them numerous times even if you don't want to. She had the glare in her eye if I even thought about touching the jeans and messing up the pile she was going to shoot me down. She was so unfriendly and walked away not wanting to communicate with me whatsoever, unless if I was certain if I was going to buy something. Normally the people at Madewell are really friendly, but she specifically has terrible attitude every time I'm in Madewell at Cherry Creek. I wish she would get fired or someone would scold her or teach her a lesson about customer service. There was this other girl with a short butch hair cut with glasses on, a bit petite, she was also extremely unfriendly, I was just checking the jeans and she asked for help and I said I was just looking, it's okay, but thank you; and she walked away looking down on me.
