Madhatter is an interesting experience at 6:30 PM on a Friday. I've never been here before but one of my friends wanted to check out the happy hour here. I can see why it has a notorious reputation for being the club to be for young 20-somethings. The interior is a bit dark/creepy, crusty and slightly sticky floors -- a total reminiscent of all the clubs back on any college campus. ORANGE CRUSH (HH) - 6 I don't know how much Smirnoff Orange they put in each one but I was done for the night after two of these. Pretty solid drink, good bang for your buck especially during the happy hour pricing. We got a bunch of bar bites to share, all which were 6.00 each: MAC & CHEESE BITES - Good and cheesy, nicely fried but each order only comes with six, so it's not the best deal. LOADED NACHOS - The plate is sizable and comes with a lot of chips and toppings. The portion size is definitely worth it and it's pretty tasty. PRETZEL BITES - Lots of pretzels with good sauces on the side, but the pretzel bites were way too salty for it to be enjoyable. With less salt, it would have been nice and fluffy. CHICKEN TENDERS - Definitely the most worth it of all the bar bites. Each order comes with three big tenders that were well fried and the chicken was well-cooked and juicy. Also good dipping sauces on the side. LOADED FRIES - Lots of fries with a good amount of cheese, sour cream, and a bunch others mixed in. However, fries are pretty soggy and I don't think we finished it. It's not a classy establishment, but it works out because the pricing here is cheap. A couple of my friends ordered the frozen happy hour cocktails (pina colada and frozen mango-rita). While they thought the drinks were good, it was so cold that they got a brain freeze. The bartender was nice and made sure we got our drinks, food and water.

We were wandering around the Dupont Circle Metro station, wondering what happened to the restaurants we'd visited in the past when we spotted Madhatter. We'd been here on a recent trip and remembered good times. We were happy to hear that they had outdoor seating, so we enjoyed choosing from the vast happy hour options. The quesadilla and beer was exactly what we needed after a day at the museums. Service was pleasant and efficient. A perfect solution.

Came for the bottomless mimosas, stayed for the diner style breakfast. Honestly this spot isn't bad. Fantastic bottomless deals and the food was solid. Inside is dated yet you can stop looking around. It's decorated with everything but the kitchen sink but my god it's fun in there.

This is a tough crowd out here-- I love mad hatter. I could be biased bc it brings the nostalgia for me but this is a great place to come with friends or even solo. For the orange crush they hand squeeze the oranges in front of you. Which other bar is doing that? I'll wait lol but anywho the staff is so friendly and the crowd is friendly too. What more could you want in a happy hour--great price great atmosphere. I didn't try any light bites since it was a quick stop in but everything looked good! Don't miss the patio when the weather is good.

The steak was excellent, and the potatoes were very good too! I really enjoyed my hot chocolate. Overall, the restaurant is beautifully set up and decorated. Our server was polite and helpful, assisting us with the menu and recommending his favorite dishes.

If you live in the DC area or are just visiting, Madhatter is a rite of passage for all 20 somethings. Think of an elevated frat party with jungle juice, except much tastier and in a humongous glass hat. A great item to spilt among friends. I've also tried their Orange Crush slushy which was recommended by the bartender - quite tasty. Their staff is speedy and the dance floor is spacious. While the music is hit or miss, Madhatter can consistently provide you with a fun time with friends. After all, you're only young once.

The Hatter's Punch was delicious! I would highly recommend getting one. They're huge and good to split with a group. Probably not that strong but it tastes like a blue jolly rancher to me which i LOVE. The different rooms in the Madhatter are also very fun! There's an upstairs and the theme of the rooms are Alice in Wonderland esque with checkered floors etc. I'm taking off a star because of the strict bathroom situation. The women's bathroom line downstairs was sooo frckin long and moved slowly and they had a security guard letting people in 1 by 1. Meanwhile the guys just waltzed in their line... I'd recommend trying the upstairs bathroom. No guard, either gender room, and it moved faster.

The attention to detail with the ambiance is highly impressive! This is the perfect place for a night out with friends -- DJ was one of the best we've heard in years! Highly recommend~

My main issue here is with a manager I presume she was. The steak and eggs I had ordered came with a hair on the side of the potatoes. She stopped by shortly after our food came to ask how things was and that is when I brought up the hair. I just asked for the potatoes to be remade. I understand hair happens but I was not thrilled when she insisted on remaking my entire dish. I gave up after the third insistence after I repeatedly said it was fine, I just want new potatoes. My original dish was delicious (I avoided the potatoes of course). Steak and eggs were cooked to perfection. However, my new dish was horrible. I had a feeling it was going to be awful as it's expected the new dish would be rushed whenever the original dish gets sent back. The steak was chewy and not medium cooked. Overall dish was very salty. If they added another seasoning I did not notice as the salt overwhelmed it. It also appears they doubled portioned everything but the steak. I would have much appreciated the original dish with the hair in it. I had expressed this to Arti and he was sympathetic. He was unknown to the issue I had with my dish. At that point I didn't really want anything more from here. Just the check and to leave. After that whole incident, I would have assumed my order would have been discounted or taken off the bill. That was not the case. She also vanished from our sight since taking my food back. My mom ended up not enjoying her meal either. She had the French omelette and thought the mustard was a rather overpowering touch to it. My mom was also surprised my meal was still on the bill. She was going to complain but I withheld as it truly is not that deep especially since the manager didn't care to come back to check if the new dish was satisfactory or not. I was given a warning not to go here by my friends and boy did I wish I listened. I wouldn't come back on my own accord but to eaches own. This restaurant will most likely stay here forever given its amazing ambiance and ease of location.

We didn't have reservations, so the wait for 2 around 5:30 on a Wednesday night was about an hour, but we decided to grab seats at the bar instead and got full service almost immediately. Huge shoutout to Matt, our bartender, who was incredibly friendly, attentive, and made the whole experience even better. Service overall was exceptional from start to finish. We started with the fried calamari and beet salad, which were both excellent and a perfect way to kick off the meal. For entrees, we had the steak frites and the New York strip with potatoes au gratin, plus a couple draft beers to wash it all down. Everything was fantastic, and the portion sizes were very generous. The building itself is part of the experience. It feels historic and full of character, with multiple dining rooms and four different bars that each had their own slightly different ambiance while still keeping that classic historic pub vibe. For a full dinner with appetizers, drinks, and entrees, expect around $100 per person -- but honestly, the quality, atmosphere, and service made it feel well worth it. Definitely a spot I'd come back to anytime I'm in DC.

The vibe confirms this: huge dining rooms, huge bar areas, gorgeous decors, and numerous newspapers etc. about the events that happened there. Of course, the restaurant was packed with tourists, but due to its size it was not difficult to reserve a seat just 2 days before. For food I got the Hot Roast Beef sandwich no sauce and sub side with asparagus. The dish came out slowly perhaps because there were too many people (? So I had to devour it in just 10min... The sandwich was stuffed with tons of roast beef, as well as some melted Gruyère cheese and cherry pepper relish. The beef was kind of dry to me; I wish I could get a side of jus to dip in. The relish was fantastic: spicy and a bit sweet and sour. I also liked the asparagus which was topped with parmesan and pine nuts. The staff acted warm and welcoming but I felt that they were mostly just reciting the scripts. Still, because of its history, food and location, I recommend you to try this restaurant when visiting DC!
