I really don't understand why this place is considered the best brunch in San Diego. I went here before and thought it was a one off. Dry breakfast burrito that only someone from the Midwest would enjoy. Corned beef hash that tastes like it came from a can. Today I had a chicken dish which was dry chicken, unripe avocado, zero flavor. My friend got biscuits and gravy and the gravy looks like a cloudy clear adult substance with unusual meat in it. Ate here a while back and it was solid. The service was great as we were seated quickly once we walked in for brunch. For me, the churro French toast sticks were absolutely sublime. Crunchy, sweet, and warm. Highlight of the meal. The orange pineapple kale drink was refreshing and woke me up. My chilaquiles were generously portioned and tasty, with fantastic flavor. Bisquick pancakes anyone? Save your money and gas, make it at home. It'll come out hotter and faster. Throw in 4 blackberries and a little goat cheese, no more than a half teaspoon. It was more like biscuits trying to be fancy. I also ordered two sunny side up eggs. It was weird, they were two different colors and had this refrigerated taste with black pepper. We tried, Waffle Churro Sticks, Chilaquiles Verdes, White Bean Shaksuka, Chicken Fried steak, Papas Locas, Brioche French toast, Vanilla Bean Latte, Blue Dream Mimosa, Mango Mint Mimosa, orange pineapple kale and Cali roots juices, and an Espresso Martini!! There were only 4 of us, but we just needed to try it all!!! Honestly, everything we ate was TOP NOTCH! Service was excellent, food delicious, drinks...perfection and so refreshing!! Today was our first time at Madi, and we will definitely be back! Seating was comfortable, vibe & ambiance of the location and style was exactly what we love. We sat inside, but the outdoor seating looked comfortable, too. The 3 of us (myself, my wife, and a friend) were thoroughly impressed by all 3 meals we ordered. We ended up taking bites of each others' meals because each of us exclaimed our plate was so tasty after just the first few bites. Portions were perfect, too. We highly recommend the corned beef hash & eggs, the brioche french toast, and the greek fries! My wife also loved her bloody mary, and my white peach & basil mimosa was very satisfying, as well. Our server, Madi (fantastic coincidence ), provided an excellent experience. She was attentive, answered any questions we had with a smile, and overall was our table's favorite aspect of all the wonderful things we experienced at Madi! I've been to Madis 3 times!!! Everytime i tried something different. The mimosas are good. My fav little appetizer is the G.O.A.T Points (this is different than the pancakes). It's super delicious!!!!! By far my fav breakfast would be the breakfast tacos. I love their carnita meat. They have a simple basic good cup of coffee for sure. I would also say their "make your own bowl" is well worth the price. And the Paloma is by far my fav cocktail. Regarding seating and busyness. It can get super super busy. So I would always plan to make a reservation in advance on their website. The wait can be long on a Saturday if you just show up. The environment is super cute and totally has that aesthetic people look got. And service is great! Never had an issue with any servers although it can get pretty backed up when they are very busy. Since Madi first opened a few months ago, I have been wanting to try it. So many establishments have occupied this space in the last five years. Upon walking into Madi, I absolutely love the interior. It is light and airy. They have gorgeous pine beams on the ceiling. There are hexagon tiles are sporadically placed on the walls and ceiling so it reminded me of the new children's zoo beehive exhibit at the San Diego Zoo. Because of the light colors, everything appears to be clean, well maintained and pristine. I came in on the weekend, earlier in the morning and dined alone. I didn't have to wait for a table. I started with the Blue dream mimosa. I tasted champagne and lemonade; it was more sour than expected. I did not taste any flavor of ginger. It was fine but I probably would try something else for my new visit. For my entree, I got the chilaquiles verdes as I love to try various versions at restaurants. It is served in sections or layers. Eat it quickly or the black beans and verde sauce will make the crispy chips soggy. The base has black beans with the chips on top. The Carnitas are placed on one side with the soft boiled eggs. Then the avocado and crema are on top. The house salsa has a little zing but it isn't overly spicy. I really enjoyed it. My waitress was Maggie. She was friendly and quick. On the day I came in, upbeat Motown music was being played (Jackson 5, Stevie Wonder, Donna Summer). Madi is located in Normal Heights at the corner of Adams Avenue and E Mtn View. There is a crosswalk. There is no dedicated parking lot so you have to fight the residents for street parking. I am looking forward to make next visit. Such a cute spot! The indoor and outdoor areas are so open, which makes the place seem much more open air and bright! The staff is really friendly, and quick service (we did go on a Monday at brunch time). It was easy to find street parking too since it's in a neighborhood. I'd say make a reservation just in case it does get busy! The churro waffles are definitely a must get! I made my own bowl and there were so many toppings to choose from. They didn't have the matcha strawberry due to the syrup being out so I got an espresso martini (mocktail). It's definitely on the sweeter side. If you get the breakfast tacos you can get one of each kind which is pretty nice! The prices are relatively what brunch usually is, but I will say the portions are definitely bigger than other places! The tacos were overflowing and very full! There is an outside patio and inside. Not a big place but sufficient for the neighborhood crowd to walk around. Nice menu for brunch. I chose some latte with oat milk. Then my friend chose the The G.O.A.T. and I chose one pancake (an option) with goat cheese and blackberries. My friend enjoyed his meal as well as I enjoyed mine. Had a side of bacon and hash browns. So we had to visit Madi. It did not disappoint. We had coffee, churro waffle sticks, white bean shakshuka with carnitas, and the country club. Everything was delicious. The churro sticks are served with fruit, a sweet cream cheese dip, and blueberry jalapeño sauce. It was execute perfectly. My partner enjoyed his shakshuka dish. And I loved my sandwich.
