What can I say about Madison Reed except it is the answer to my hair needs because I need to color my hair every few weeks. They offer root touch ups, balayage, highlights and all over coverage. You can have a blow out done with color service or my favorite part is that you can choose to dry on your own at the self service dry bar using the equipment and products. I have done both but when I do not have time for a longer appointment and full blow out I opt to do a quick dry myself. You can join their pro or premier membership and come more frequently for a monthly fee or just come whenever you would like. If you prefer to do your own hair you can pick up products to take home including dye, balayage kits, styling products and shampoo conditioner. I have been here several times and all professional colorists have been really friendly and have done a fabulous job. read more

I have been using Madison Reed since Covid and was very satisfied with them. When Covid was over, I even took my subscription color treatment to my hair stylist for use doing my appointment. Then I started having hair breakage and thinning. After researching my issue, I discovered that Madison Reed uses an ingredient that was not identifiable when reading the ingredients of her products; however, customers, having this hair thinning problem discovered this offending ingredient that causes hair shaft weakening over time. I even discovered through my research that there is a lawsuit against the company. What is more hurtful is that the company did not advise their customers, especially dedicated subscribers, that an issue has arisen, and that the company is reviewing it. This warning would have given the customers the right to research further and determine if they wanted to continue to use the product. I liken these egregious omissions akin to the tobacco industry, who knew the ill effects of their product but chose to sell the offending product without warnings of possible ill effects. Went in to get roots and for them to put in highlights only were the last lady didn't put in as she's was doing my roots she said next time come in to get roots done and then a few days latter the highlights bc it's to hard to do both and time for us wow!!! Ok then I get my hair washed and that girl puts on toner when I got home I realized all my highlights are gone or should I say toned down then I get charged full price for partial highlights when she just need to put 3 on one side only but ok then I check my hair at home and there's a very large part of my roots not done in the top of my head very disappointing the first 3 times was great and right on with my hair color and highlights this last lady was rude telling me I should go in different days not everyone has all the time I guess she doesn't realize that for some of us it's hard to get away for a few hrs 2 days in 1 week read more

The customer service was great on my visit. I haven't tried my haircolor yet so I can't comment on that. I bought a do it yourself haircolor kit. The store is right next to Sephora in the Fountains. The store is very bright and colorful and clean. They have a color bar and can do full haircolor, highlights, etc. They do not cut hair here. There were ladies having their hair done while I was in the shop. The employee who helped me was very kind and helpful and we chose the right color for my hair. The whole process was smooth and easy. I live in Southern California and just here in Roseville for a few days for a mini-vacation. I was happy to see they have a Madison Reed here. Easily made an appointment online and once I got there I was immediately welcomed by Abigail. I hope that's her name, she has pink hair and so super nice. She was very knowledgeable and even though I went in asking for my "regular", she offered me options and I said yes, let's try something new which I was absolutely happy with. My color needed a little zsusch, and I desperately needed a blowout due to a shoulder injury. Enter Madison Reed. I use their color boost shampoos, so was familiar with the products already. I easily scheduled an appointment online for the next day. Salon was clean and everyone I engaged with was very friendly. I had a root touch up, and blowout, and was very happy with both. I wish they included hot tools with their blowout, but that is not a deal breaker, as I was not going to prom, or getting married, ha. Nice to know this is an option for in-between cut/color appointments. read more

Don't go here if you have dark brown hair and want blonde highlights, they won't / can't do it. All I wanted was for a few highlights in my bangs the same color as what I already had in my hair. Their manager came out to talk to me and said their products couldn't do that, so I'm unsure of why people would come here if basic highlights are not achievable. On one end, I commend the manager for stating she would not feel comfortable taking my money because I'm not going to like the results (only reason I'm giving them a 3 and not a 1 star). Went in thinking they only have one job, color, so they should be able to manage a color match to my dark brown roots. I repeatedly told the stylist Erica that the most important point was to not make my hair inky black. When she was done, my hair was inky black. I was so pissed. I told Erica I was really not liking the inky black. She said it will look different in different lighting. Obviously that was BS. We did some highlights on the front and it still didn't come out right very light . My husband said it didn't look like anything changed on my hair. I showed a picture of my hair to the colorist on how I wanted the color to look (covering the roots then doing highlights in red). The colorist then consulted with another colorist and said they could add tinting to my service so it would be all-cover, tinting, and blow out. When 7:00pm came around, they said they didn't have time to do the blow-out, so I had to do the self-dryer. As I was being rushed out of the salon because they were closing at 7pm, my color looked unfinished (it did not highlight to the top of my roots). I had to continue wiping down the color along my entire hair-line and ears. I communicated and expressed how unhappy I was to the staff but they seem unremorseful. Luckily, I had no plans on a Friday night because i would have been to embarrassed to show up with the way my hair was. I have never left a salon feeling like I had to go home to fix my hair. Especially after spending $200. Looking back at it now, I shouldn't have let the colorist do my hair because she did say she "normally doesn't do highlights and only do root cover ups"---I guess because she only works there part-time. read more

Not enough staffing. Horrible experience. They forgot about me. I was supposed to get my hair washed after 45 mins however no one checked on me. I was left waiting for additional 30-40 mins. It was only when I flagged down the stylist to tell her my head was starting to burn, she asked another associate to attend to me after she was done washing another client's hair. I have been a customer of Madison Reed in Roseville for at least 2 years now. But my recent experience was not a good one. The lady who colored my hair could have done better : 1. Left my forehead and sides with hair dye. She let me clean it up myself. 2. While shampooing my hair, she washed my hair with very hot temperature water. I had to tell her it was very hot, she said she cannot feel it. That is kind of concern for a place like this. She also wet the back of my blouse. She blow dried it for 5-10 seconds and I was left to do it on my own while drying my hair too. I never experienced this with the other employees but this lady does not show good customer service. read more

Real talk: I typically buy hair dye and do my hair at home. I can't reach the back very well, so I focus mainly on my roots at the top/sides of my head and pull through the dye to the ends. I've purchased Madison Reed and store brands and done okay. I prefer permanent, but non-harsh dye products a' la Madison Reed. Decided to get all over color done here so I could just enjoy it. Have to say, this was a very nice experience from beginning to end. The person that did my color (sorry I didn't get her name) was kind and conversational, checked my order history and made suggestions. She did a great job of covering all my hair (lots of grey). A second person did my rinse/wash and blow out and she was great as well. She asked how I wanted my hair (I have long layers and just wanted my hair blown out straight) and then proceeded to use the correct brush/technique for my medium length hair. She seemed to understand I don't need a lot of help with volume and got my hair to lay just right. I enjoyed the low-key atmosphere and definitely like the result. read more

I went there once before and the colorist missed a big section of my hair. Instead of fixing it, she gave me a 20% discount. I wasn't sure about going back, but I have a function tomorrow night, so I reached out for a weekend appointment. They responded to me today (Monday). So I made a same day appointment on line for 5:15 for a root touch up, gloss and blow out. . I had a text confirmation. I took off work early. Drove the 30 minutes to the salon and they said there was no appointment. They tried to make it like it was my fault so I showed them the texts and even gave the woman at the store screen shots showing the confirmation. No "I'm sorry" or anything. No appointment. Worst hair color ever. Didn't cover my gray's. A girl helped me pick out my color and while she was very nice, it was totally the wrong color. So while it colored my grays for a few days, it was a totally different color on them, making my hair look even more ridiculous I really wanted to love this stuff but what I get from Sally's works so much better.
