We went there for a birthday brunch last weekend. They brought just a birthday waffle and set it on fire on the side so it was pretty special and tasty! Think of a s'mores likes waffle minus the chocolate

Sadly, no. There is a restaurant in Monrovia and Covina that serves Cafe de Olla. Fonda Don Chon and Cafe De Olla restaurant in Monrovia. Very delicious!

What are the vegan options?

I think their Chili rellenos are the only option. Best to call ahead to make sure.

This time we walked in and immediately thought... wait, are we in the right place? It just feels completely different now. New owners? New management? New everything? The vibe has somehow gone from cute neighborhood café to "family business that also happens to own an espresso machine." Even the barista was casually having a meal behind the register. Honestly, she might've had the right idea because I should've asked what SHE ordered. We got the Everything Croissant and the C&S Grilled Cheese. Unfortunately, both were pretty disappointing. The Everything Croissant has eggs, onion, bell pepper, cheese, tomato, house spread AND avocado. That is basically the Avengers of breakfast ingredients, yet somehow they all assembled and forgot to bring the flavor. Then came the C&S Grilled Cheese. The menu says soy chorizo, spinach, bacon, cheddar and spicy buffalo cheese. Ours had absolutely NO soy chorizo. That used to be one of the best parts! I kept looking through the sandwich like maybe it was hiding. Nope. Soy chorizo had apparently taken the day off. We also noticed several things we used to order are gone from the menu. And then, on the way through all these changes, you notice the B health department rating and think... okay Cream & Sugar, we really need to sit down and talk. I'm not trying to beat up on a local business because we genuinely used to love this place. I just hope they can bring back some of what made Cream & Sugar so good before, because right now it feels like the café we loved went on vacation and forgot to tell us.

I visited this restaurant for brunch on Thursday around 10:30am, and it was pouring rain. The left side of the restaurant was completely empty with about 10-12 open tables. There was no wait, and we were seated at the first table right by the entrance. We politely asked the lady at the front if we could move to a different table, and she was incredibly rude and dismissive, saying "NO" without any explanation. Our waitress, on the other hand, was much nicer and offered to move us to a different table, which was the one we had originally asked about. But then, the so-called "manager" came over, told the waitress we had to move, and insisted we couldn't stay there, even though there was plenty of space and no wait. It felt like the manager was just being difficult and making a point to be rude for no reason. The table could easily accommodate us, yet we were being treated like we were inconveniencing them. At that point, we had enough of the awful service, and we simply walked out. I've never encountered such rude and unprofessional behavior, and it's clear that the staff here is only interested in making things hard for customers instead of providing a pleasant dining experience. We'll take our business elsewhere to places that actually know how to treat patrons with respect. I will never return to any of their locations again. If you want to be treated like an inconvenience, this is the place for you. read more

Let's start with the food. The chilaquiles were simply divine. Every bite was bursting with flavors. Next up was the churro French toast, and oh my goodness, it was a heavenly treat. I had high hopes for Madres Brunch, but my experience was incredibly disappointing. First off, the service was abysmal. Once seated, it took 20 minutes for a server to acknowledge us and take our drink orders. The food was another letdown. I ordered the birria Benedict and let's say it was mid at the very least. They tried to trick you thinking you're getting big portions by filling up the plate with garden salad. You're getting overpriced mid food. Don't let the colorful pancakes and waffles fool you. Food coloring was used to achieve the color. Additionally, the ambiance left much to be desired. The restaurant was loud and cramped, making it hard to have a conversation. The tables were so close together that it felt like we were dining with strangers. All I heard was techno music...uhtz, uhtz, uhtz. Is this a rave or a food establishment? Overall, Madres Brunch was a huge disappointment. Poor service, mediocre food, and an unpleasant atmosphere mean I won't be coming back. Save your money and try somewhere else. I had the pleasure of dining at Madres in Whittier today, and it was a wonderful experience. The ambience was warm and welcoming, creating a perfect atmosphere for a relaxing meal. I was excited to try their wide selection of lattes and coffees, so I ordered the coffee flight. It included the Horchata Latte, Abuelita Latte, and Pistachio Latte, and all three were absolutely delicious. The only downside is that you can only select three out of four specific flavors for the flight with hot drinks, but they also offer four different flavors if you opt for cold drinks instead. For my meal, I ordered the Chilaquiles, which were incredibly flavorful, and the portion was so generous that I couldn't finish it all. I also had a pancake on the side, which was light, fluffy, and a perfect complement to the meal. The service was excellent. Excellent experience, our server Natalie made sure we were attended properly. The Journey pancakes are out of this world, a gotta have it. If you like strawberries then this is for you. They topping will gladly flow once the silver cylinder is lifted to expose the strawberry syrup with its crumbs. The green chilequiles is the most creative presentation is just as excellent as the taste..a must try!!! It does come with one egg, but two would be so much better. As for the scoop of guacamole, it adds a delicate touch to the mountain of green-chilli-tortillas with a delicious taste of its natural tangy-flavor, but very suttle. The chicken is just right and gives it a flavor to enjoy the surrounding spices and the topped queso cotija that drizzled the plate. Waffles are very big and super delicious. They serve 2 with the drizzle of chocolate and our son got a small scoop of chocolate ice cream. Very fluffy and moist from the sweet ingredients on top. A must-try, for sure. read more

I highly recommend this place. I was there this morning with my girls a group of 4. Friday Morning and it was a very short wait. Let's start off by the great customer service we got offer it was my first time there and I made the best decision going there the food was delicious and their vanilla latte was too. My server kianna was amazing she was very professional and kept checking on my table to make shure everything was good. I will definitely be going back. The restaurant was very nice and most important clean. I tried there chilaquiles with Birria and omg delicious I also tried their chocolate pancakes they are delicious. At the end we ordered their Mimosas Christian brought them to us he was very nice and explain the flavors I will definitely order them again it's a must to try if your there. I had a really great experience at this place! The food was delicious, but honestly, my absolute favorite was the coffee. Wow -- hands down the best lattes I've ever had. They were perfectly creamy and smooth, just what I needed to start the day right. I also tried the champagne flights, which were fantastic -- really refreshing and fun to sample a few different kinds. The margarita flights were just as good, and they were super generous with the tequila, which I definitely appreciated! If you're thinking about coming here, I highly recommend it. I got up and asked if they could come to our table because we have two diabetic family members. The host I spoke with said he would send someone, but there was some attitude. Our waiter came and was kind, but the whole experience has been awful. We waited over an hour and twenty five minutes after being seated for our food to arrive, and they didn't bring it all out at once. My pancakes ended up having a hair in them and had to be sent back. We have since asked for a manager to come to the table 2x, and they have not come. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. It has ruined our last Mother's Day with our grandmother before she moves away later this year. Over two hours wasted total waiting to be seated and for our food to arrive.

I asked a question about one of their food items and where I could find it. She looked irritated and silently pointed toward the bread section. I had already looked there and didn't see what I was asking about, so I was understandably confused. When she noticed my confusion, she dismissively said, "If you don't see it, we don't have it," in an unprofessional tone. I simply said "Okay, thank you" and walked away. A customer service training needs to be reviewed with these young ladies. I see many people are having similar complains about the service and it's unfortunate because this place has so much potential.
