This was my first time here and as I thought it was very busy. However I wasn't bothered or upset about the wait or how long the food took to come out because the atmosphere was good and you saw all the workers working very hard, you saw many workers attentive and checking on people constantly and again this place is very popular so I knew it was going to be busy. They were also very accommodating they gave us a free mimosa I'm not sure if it was a promotion or if they felt bad for the wait but again I didn't mind at all. So let's review the food the mimosas were VERY good and I normally am picky with my mimosas but they were very sweet and good. I tried the watermelon, green apple and pineapple mimosa all of them were very good but I probably like the pineapple one best. The food was very good as well! The Strawberry pancakes, bathe in Strawberry condensed milk topped with strawberry crumbles was very sweet very pretty and very good. I didn't finish it all because I did have half of the sausage breakfast sandwich which was sooo good! The sausage breakfast sandwich it was by far my favorite. The servers were working hard and always staying busy. Good music played and again I love the atmosphere. 10/10 I will most definitely be returning read more

Madres Brunch is all you can ask for while searching for a good brunch location. In Uptown Whittier, this family-owned establishment serves delicious authentic Mexican food along with tasteful well-made coffee. The Chilaquiles is what we were recommended by our amazing server, Daisy, along with the Coffee Flight. Both were great in flavor and presentation and are both something I would recommend. From the welcoming team, "feels-like-home" ambiance, to the delicious food; I would hands-down recommend this place to all! read more

My dish was good and our server Kianna was lovely and attentive. BUT DONT COME HERE!!!! Don't be fooled by the good reviews. You're encouraged to leave a review in exchange for a free mimosa. the hosts outside need to get it together. I joined the wait list through Yelp and i said i wanted a table at 12:00pm. It said i should check in by 11:40am. I was on my way, my sisters and i were coming from different cities and meeting there since Whittier is a half way point. At 11:20am i received a call from the restaurant, all she said was "hi, just wanted to let you know that you have a 10 min grace period"....i assumed that she meant after 11:40...(she didn't tell me that my table was ready NOW) I told her "okay, im almost there". I get there and keep checking the yelp wait list, says I'm 16th in line and then just disappears. It was 11:44am, i approached the hostess as someone else with the same issue approached her. She said she took us off because we were late. I told her i was in line! She said "i called you to tell you that you had ten mins"....i told her she never communicated that my table was ready, you usually receive a text like "YOUR TABLE IS READY SEE HOST"...and it still said i was 16th in line. Her response was "well the wait list on yelp isn't accurate idk what to tell you". After complaining, she said she would put me back in line where i originally was....i was told 3 people were ahead of me...we still waited 20 mins and watched 6 other parties get seated before us. If i had been familiar with the area and knew what was around i would have left but we all drove from 30 mins away. We even saw two people who came AFTER us who admitted that they were 1/2 hr late to their check in time get seated before us. Such a f-cking joke. I approached them again and she said "two mins". We FINALLY made it in and there were flies everywhere. We kept having to slap them away from our food and drinks. The server was great but the overall experience was trash. Never going there again, ever. I would discourage anyone from going unless you feel like being frustrated on a weekend morning. read more

My fiancé and I decided to stop by after seeing multiple social media post of this place and their food. I am glad we made the time to come by and try it. The place was packed on a Friday morning, and for a good reason. The service was amazing and quick. The recommendations the server provided were amazing. The items that were a limited time offer, not on the menu, is what we went with. I would recommend this place to anyone. read more

Visited on July 19th which was a Wednesday and it was not crowded which was perfect because I've heard that the weekends is usually very busy. We were seated almost immediately. The waitress was very nice and attentive. She even went out of her way to find my sister a charger for her phone which was dying and she needed to answer work emails. The esthetic of the place is very cute and inviting with lots of light up signs and great ambiance. The food was good but in my opinion a bit overpriced. The drink menus were printed on regular paper which was strange as the actual menus were laminated. I ordered the Chilango omelette which was an omelette filled with red chilaquiles and black beans topped with cheese which was good but again $16 for an omelet seemed a bit high. My sister ordered the Madres chilaquiles which was chilaquiles topped with a little bit of birria and eggs cooked however you like. I tried a bit of her birria which was a bit dry but again $18 just seemed a bit much. Overall I say the the food was 8/10, service 10/10, ambiance 8/10 and the price 3/10. read more

I've been to Madre's Brunch twice with my bestie and with family, and both times the food has and service has been excellent. I am obsessed with the latte flight (choose mazapán, pistachio, & horchata). I've gotten the green chilaquiles and omelette and they are well served and delicious! Overall, the food and service were absolutely amazing. When serving the pancakes, they make it look presentational. The strawberry horchatta compliments well with the pancakes. I also had chiliquiles with birria and forgot to take a pic, I highly recommend it. The momisa flight is highly recommended as well. My wife and I will definitely be back to get the journey (strawberry pancakes.) I recommend coming early in the morning when the first open because it gets busy. Good music and vibes. read more

I came here with my work colleagues for brunch. We were seated in a spacious table near the back. The server took our drink order and brought them out fairly quick. I ordered the Divorciados, which were very yummy. The Divociados come with black beans, a loaded baked potato (half) and avocado. One egg came topped with green sauce (mild) and the other came topped with red sauce (spicy). Overall, I enjoyed my brunch experience here. read more

Let me start by saying this place is in a great location. A nice walk around uptown mixed with a delicious breakfast is always great. My wife had been here a few times, so she finally dragged me along because I had to try their Iced Latte flight. I obliged, and I was mostly happy with the flight of 4 oz. coffee--marzipan, horchata, pistachio, and chocolate. I also ordered the Madres Chilaquiles and added egg, and I was mostly happy with my breakfast. The host in the front was also super kind; he checked in with us several times, which was several times more than I remember our server checking on us. Where Madres Brunch really loses a star for me is value for cost. The latte flight was (drumroll) $16... for 16 oz. of coffee, which is mad. The plate of chilaquiles plus egg came out to $22. Ultimately for me, there wasn't anything special enough about the atmosphere nor the quality of food to justify the prices, so it is unlikely I will return. If value for cost isn't as important to you, the food is definitely good; however, this place most certainly isn't for me. read more

Been wanting to come here for a minute... as much as it pains me I was sadly disappointed. We started off with there mimosa specials, I actually never tasted the sparkling wine due to the syrups that were over powering it, and warm when served. I do recommend there Mazapán Latte which was delicious, perfectly balanced and not overly sweet. My friend ordered the bacon eggs Benedict and they look pretty sad, which just felt that it was lacking something more. Also ordered the Madres Chilaquiles, which came with Birria and no egg. They were a bit to sweet for my taste kind of like mole, so wasn't the taste I was looking for might not be for me but maybe someone else does. Lastly the churro French toast, I wanted to love this dish but it was super dry and dense and it just did not hit the mark for me. It's aesthetically pleasing to the eye when the food and drinks come, but might have been an off day for them I'm not sure. We went there for a birthday brunch last weekend. They brought just a birthday waffle and set it on fire on the side so it was pretty special and tasty! Think of a s'mores likes waffle minus the chocolate

Sadly, no. There is a restaurant in Monrovia and Covina that serves Cafe de Olla. Fonda Don Chon and Cafe De Olla restaurant in Monrovia. Very delicious!

This time we walked in and immediately thought... wait, are we in the right place? It just feels completely different now. New owners? New management? New everything? The vibe has somehow gone from cute neighborhood café to "family business that also happens to own an espresso machine." Even the barista was casually having a meal behind the register. Honestly, she might've had the right idea because I should've asked what SHE ordered. We got the Everything Croissant and the C&S Grilled Cheese. Unfortunately, both were pretty disappointing. The Everything Croissant has eggs, onion, bell pepper, cheese, tomato, house spread AND avocado. That is basically the Avengers of breakfast ingredients, yet somehow they all assembled and forgot to bring the flavor. Then came the C&S Grilled Cheese. The menu says soy chorizo, spinach, bacon, cheddar and spicy buffalo cheese. Ours had absolutely NO soy chorizo. That used to be one of the best parts! I kept looking through the sandwich like maybe it was hiding. Nope. Soy chorizo had apparently taken the day off. We also noticed several things we used to order are gone from the menu. And then, on the way through all these changes, you notice the B health department rating and think... okay Cream & Sugar, we really need to sit down and talk. I'm not trying to beat up on a local business because we genuinely used to love this place. I just hope they can bring back some of what made Cream & Sugar so good before, because right now it feels like the café we loved went on vacation and forgot to tell us.

I visited this restaurant for brunch on Thursday around 10:30am, and it was pouring rain. The left side of the restaurant was completely empty with about 10-12 open tables. There was no wait, and we were seated at the first table right by the entrance. We politely asked the lady at the front if we could move to a different table, and she was incredibly rude and dismissive, saying "NO" without any explanation. Our waitress, on the other hand, was much nicer and offered to move us to a different table, which was the one we had originally asked about. But then, the so-called "manager" came over, told the waitress we had to move, and insisted we couldn't stay there, even though there was plenty of space and no wait. It felt like the manager was just being difficult and making a point to be rude for no reason. The table could easily accommodate us, yet we were being treated like we were inconveniencing them. At that point, we had enough of the awful service, and we simply walked out. I've never encountered such rude and unprofessional behavior, and it's clear that the staff here is only interested in making things hard for customers instead of providing a pleasant dining experience. We'll take our business elsewhere to places that actually know how to treat patrons with respect. I will never return to any of their locations again. If you want to be treated like an inconvenience, this is the place for you. read more

Once seated, it took 20 minutes for a server to acknowledge us and take our drink orders. The food was another letdown. I ordered the birria Benedict and let's say it was mid at the very least. They tried to trick you thinking you're getting big portions by filling up the plate with garden salad. You're getting overpriced mid food. Don't let the colorful pancakes and waffles fool you. Food coloring was used to achieve the color. Additionally, the ambiance left much to be desired. The restaurant was loud and cramped, making it hard to have a conversation. The tables were so close together that it felt like we were dining with strangers. All I heard was techno music...uhtz, uhtz, uhtz. Is this a rave or a food establishment? I was excited to try their wide selection of lattes and coffees, so I ordered the coffee flight. It included the Horchata Latte, Abuelita Latte, and Pistachio Latte, and all three were absolutely delicious. The only downside is that you can only select three out of four specific flavors for the flight with hot drinks, but they also offer four different flavors if you opt for cold drinks instead. For my meal, I ordered the Chilaquiles, which were incredibly flavorful, and the portion was so generous that I couldn't finish it all. I also had a pancake on the side, which was light, fluffy, and a perfect complement to the meal. The service was excellent. They topping will gladly flow once the silver cylinder is lifted to expose the strawberry syrup with its crumbs. Let's start off by the great customer service we got offer it was my first time there and I made the best decision going there the food was delicious and their vanilla latte was too. This is unacceptable on Mother's Day when we were trying to celebrate our Grandmother. Thankfully, our waiter was able to clear a spot on the patio. Following being seated, the waiter did not come. I got up and asked if they could come to our table because we have two diabetic family members. The host I spoke with said he would send someone, but there was some attitude. Our waiter came and was kind, but the whole experience has been awful. We waited over an hour and twenty five minutes after being seated for our food to arrive, and they didn't bring it all out at once. My pancakes ended up having a hair in them and had to be sent back. We have since asked for a manager to come to the table 2x, and they have not come. I would not recommend this restaurant to anyone. It has ruined our last Mother's Day with our grandmother before she moves away later this year. Over two hours wasted total waiting to be seated and for our food to arrive.

I don't mind waiting--that wasn't the issue. The problem was that no one acknowledged me. The two employees working saw me, turned their backs, and continued what they were doing. A simple "We'll be right with you" would have gone a long way. After several minutes, one of the employees finally turned around and asked to take my order. I asked a question about one of their food items and where I could find it. She looked irritated and silently pointed toward the bread section. I had already looked there and didn't see what I was asking about, so I was understandably confused. When she noticed my confusion, she dismissively said, "If you don't see it, we don't have it," in an unprofessional tone. I simply said "Okay, thank you" and walked away. A customer service training needs to be reviewed with these young ladies. I see many people are having similar complains about the service and it's unfortunate because this place has so much potential.
