After our second visit I can say that this cheese steak is in the top 3 I have ever had anywhere, even outside of Maryland. Our first visit was on a Tuesday and the bartender was extremely welcoming and friendly. The restaurant has two bars with very different vibes, we ended up sitting at a booth at the front of the restaurant and split an order of fish and chips and a cheese steak with provolone, hots and banana peppers. The food was served very quickly and we enjoyed a few crushes that were on special while we waited. I was thoroughly impressed by both dishes and everything was very affordable. On our second visit we went at 6 PM on a Thursday to enjoy the cheese steak special and we each got our own sandwich, I tried the classic sandwich with American cheese and it was just as good as the first time and my wife really enjoyed her chicken cheese steak. I came here for the Ohio State vs. Michigan game and overall had a good time. This place markets itself as an OSU bar, which is exactly why a lot of us out-of-towners lined up early looking for a true Buckeye spot to watch The Game. The two bartenders on duty were slammed but handled the crowd well and stayed friendly the whole time. I ordered the honey Old Bay wings and they were legitimately great. A couple issues, though. For a bar that leans into the Ohio State identity, it was surprising that we had to keep asking for the TVs to be switched to the game and for the sound to be turned on especially during the biggest rivalry matchup of the year. They also misplaced my friend's AMEX, which was frustrating. All that said, the staff was kind, the food was solid, and there's real potential here. They are located on Cross Street so weekends here get busy and they don't offer carry out on game days. Our server was friendly and checked on us regularly and food came out quickly. We were sharing one sandwich and they kindly cut it for us and gave each of us a bag of chips which I thought was really nice. The sandwich itself was just okay in my opinion. It was generously filled and the bread was nice, but I felt it needed more flavor personally. But a lot of people seem to like it so check it out for yourself! My wife and I visited today for the first time. We are from Bucks County PA, a suburb of Philly, where there are several Magerks scattered around our area. We never knew that the very first and original Magerks is in Baltimore. With all due respect to the other Magerks, which we do like, the "flagship" original in Baltimore blows all the others away. What a tremendous experience we had and Lea is the one who made it so special. She is the hostess, bartender, server, etc. She wears so many hats and she is the sweetest person! There should be a photo of Lea in the dictionary when looking up the term "multi-tasking". She was amazing. We highly recommend Magerks in Baltimore. This pub took me by surprise. My friend told me about a spot with great philly's and I had to give it a try. It was a game day in Baltimore for the orioles, so the pub became busy as soon as we sat down. We sat at the bar which wasn't too noisy. They do offer upstairs and downstairs traditional tabletop seating. The bartender was attentive and asked for our drink orders right away. I ordered water as was saving my taste buds for a sandwich. I love coming here to watch the Eagles games. It's the designated Philadelphia/Eagles bar of Baltimore. They have an upstairs and downstairs area with plenty of TVs throughout. They offer bar and high top table seating with a couple low top tables that can accommodate bigger groups. I recommend getting here early on Eagles game days, as it can get pretty crowded. I got there 30 minutes before the game on Monday night and was able to grab one of the last spots at the bar. It was such a great atmosphere being surrounded by fellow Eagles fans who would chant during an Eagles touchdown! Lemme just start off by saying Magerks is a special place. Great food, decently priced beers, all the TVs you'd ever need, and usually a pretty good soundtrack too. Every time I walk into Magerks I'm greeted with a smile and my go to beer. She always knows when we (my kickball team) show up on cheesesteak night that we mean business. She wastes no time and makes sure she gets all our orders in asap! We usually go and find a table if there isn't enough space for all of us at the bar. No matter how busy it gets in there, Courtney never forgets about her customers. She regularly makes her rounds to all the tables to make sure your cup never runs dry! I even got fussed at (jokingly) one time for helping clean up the table because she wanted to provide the best service she could. Yes Magerks is just another bar but very few even come close when you have a bartender like Courtney!
