I've never written a 1 star review until now but this place 'earned' it. The sign inside the door stated, 'Please wait to be seated', so we waited. A waitress walked past and stood with her back to us, muttering over her shoulder as she tapped on a screen, "It'll be a 25 minute wait". I noted there were only five or six tables seated outside, the rest empty. Her poor reception and annoyed attitude should have been the only indicator needed to realize this establishment is not worthy of my time or money. With her back still to us, I looked at my partner who shook his head so we turned and walked out. The door hadn't completely shut all the way before a waiter rushed out to say he could seat us now. ... Second chance? Maybe the waitress was having a bad day? With hesitancy and doubt, we shrugged it off, took the bait and followed our waiter past the dog tied to a post on a long leash at the patio entrance. The waiter seated us at a table on the inside perimeter of the roped-off patio. We scanned the sparse menu and ordered hot tea, a cup of clam chowder and a basket of tots to warm up a little while we chatted. Our waiter brought the tea, but left us sitting 40 minutes without checking back even once. The sun had dipped behind the rooftop, and none of the patio heaters were on. All other tables had been served, left or were leaving. Our waiter didn't make eye contact so I got up went inside to ask for our order 'to-go'. However, I discovered both cooks standing in the kitchen chatting, nothing was on the grill and no food was ready to go out. Our order wasn't entered. Our waiter walked up and stood next to me, said nothing and started tapping a screen. "Excuse me. I'd like to cancel our ord..." but before I could finish he turned, smirked and said, "Okay!" I politely asked how much for the tea and he smirked back, "I won't charge for the tea when you just canceled your order" ... I'm not exaggerating when I say this place is a dump and the wait-staff employees exhibit the same dumpy attitude. I can't stress enough to spend your time and hard earned money elsewhere. read more

Maggie Bluffs is a great place to stop for breakfast or lunch. My husband and I have been coming here for about 7 years. Such a fantastic location Prices are pretty great. You can't beat the brunch, sitting outside with a bloody mary! It can get crowded on the weekends. Burgers are good and come with your choice of fries, tater tots or salad. Overall it is a great spot to chill - nothing fancy here but nice location and views. Plenty of parking. Plenty of seating, inside and out. read more

Wow, 3 times this week I went to Maggies for dinner around 5 PM. The place was maybe 20% full inside and 75% full outside. I was told each time that there would be a 25-30 minute wait. Of course, I inquired as to why with so many empty tables do I have to wait that long to be seated...the hostess replies "because that's how long the wait is". I would have had a few drinks waiting and dropped a couple hundred bucks on dinner with a 30% tip. Probably not a bad deal for the server and Landry's for a quick meal! Rather than seat me and make some quick money, they turned me away when there was plenty of room...what are they thinking??? I live on my boat in the marina for most of the Summer and this has been my experience 3X this week. Most of us boaters and marina tenants have a few disposable bucks in our wallets and now I'll take them elsewhere...lot's of good restaurants in Seattle, Maggies mediocre service won't be one of them anymore. I would say this place is fairly average for an American seafood place. It's a nice cheaper option on the marina over the palisades. Due to being understaffed the service here was really slow and very inattentive to our needs. However, the food was fair. Looks like a nice place to sit outside too on warmer days. read more

We arrived here on a Tuesday evening around 6:30. We were told the wait would be 20 minutes for outside and 5-10 for inside. We opted for the longer wait as the views were spectacular. 30 minutes later with no seat, we told them that we would go ahead and sit inside. Another 15 minutes later, we finally get seated but no water or any sign of service. After a long day on the kayak, I just approached the bar and got my own water. We finally place an order but no food until 8:45pm!! I approached the manager during our wait and she was extremely apologetic and very kind. Honestly, if her or her staff approached us earlier and explained or apologized for the slow service...we would've been fine. Communication is sooooo important! I could care less about compensation...just talk to us! :-) In the end, our food came and it was good...not great and not worth the wait but our bellies were full. The manager discounted our bill and the server brought us all ice cream sandwiches. That was a nice touch and we totally appreciated it but definitely keep your customers in the loop and they will be much more satisfied. read more

As a "welcome to your new job" treat, my bosses took me to Maggie Bluffs for lunch last month. They know I love sweet potato fries, so they were determined to feed me the best. Before I could get that far, I was taken by the pretty view. I think I usually avoid this part of town, assuming it's too rich for my blood. Boats and marinas have a way of soothing me, but rarely get me further than a drink and appetizers. Maggie Bluffs is different. Sure, it's pricier than other lunch venues, but they do well to provide a respite and tasty food. And the sweet potato fries? Definitely worth a return trip! My ahi tataki tacos were gorgeous. The tuna was lovely and the garnishes were well-placed, though sadly the outer shells were floppy and too dry to enjoy. I thought this was a nice touch of the day! ** Review is for outdoor Happy Hour ONLY ** Location: It's by Elliot Bay Marina, west of Magnolia Bridge. If you are familiar with Palisade, this restaurant is just below Palisade. Both self and valet parking are available. Décor: I can't talk about much about the interior. However, I thought the outdoor seating by the water was very nice. If you want to get some sun, one side of the seating has less shadow. Food and Drinks: Among 3 of us, we ordered all the food on the happy hour menu ($4 Cheesy bacon tots, onion rings; $5 pork sliders, steak sliders; $6 Shrimp ceviche, Buffalo wings) and the strawberry lemonade. Our favorite was definitely the cheesy bacon tots. The mix with cheese and bacon fat/bites made the tots million dollars. Our least favorite was the shrimp ceviche because it was lack of flavors. To be more specific, the lime/lemon flavor was missing in ceviche. Both my friends liked the vodka mixed strawberry lemonade. However, I didn't feel the alcohol in the drink. I bet it's because I waited too long and the ice cubes melt. Service: We were able to get seated immediately. It was a busy day and the server moved fast. We got in and out within an hour. Tasty, affordable, and wonderful view! Yet again, another cool, hidden Seattle restaurant. I heard about this place from a friend in Magnolia and was eager to try it out. First off, it shares the same incredible view as Palisades but at a fraction of the price. So if you are looking to impress your more casual friends and visitors, it's great for that. It's incredibly kid friendly, meaning there are constantly children there in all age ranges. It is a small space though, so if you bring large parties, you will probably be waiting for a bit. The service has always been friendly for us, though they may not always know what's good that day. The beer is great here and they do have their own tasty brews! The food appears to be a hit or miss. Nothing inedible, but some dishes are much better than others. I would come here just to get their sweet potato fries and the irresistible crab and artichoke sandwich. And overall, it's a reasonable price for the food and view. And the ceilings fans are awesome. I just love them. NEVER GOING BACK, after many years of being a fan of Maggie's. They've been going downhill consistently for several years now, I'm sorry to say. But their recent re-vamping of the menu was the last straw for me. One by one, they removed every single item I enjoyed, and those of my husband, too. - Even their fabulous onion rings... GONE! OMG. They were the "bomb"! I used to tell people they had the best onion rings on the planet. Also gone: no more chili, no more nachos, no pasta, no patty melt, no more hot 'n cold salad... Sigh. List goes on. Last night I had their Ceasar salad - which they made with not-so-fresh, shredded lettuce, and a Lemon Drop that tasted kinda weird. Their honey-mustard chicken wings, which my husband and I shared, were fine, but nothing special. The fries were good, but my husbands "bartender's strawberry lemonade" was watery, & neither of us could detect any alcohol in it. He was also bummed as he had planned to order their nachos, and we were both seriously bummed when we learned the onion rings were gone. Service was okay, a little lacking in attention. And when I told our server that the new menu was horrible, all he could think to say was "I'm sorry". (Really?) He couldn't manage to recommend one of the new items! -Amazing. It's sad when a place like this, one that we've come to depend on for casual, spur of the moment lunches or dinners, disappoints enough times to drive away their regular customers. I've been coming to Maggie's since they first opened. But not anymore! It's the end of an era. Ok. We have had some hit or misses here. Today was a miss when my soup was so small ( not even 1/2 full of the small cup ) I mentioned it to my waitperson who brought some more and dropped it off with some attitude. 1. If you are charging $6 for clam chowder you should at least serve he cup of soup a decent bit. What you get here is about 1/2 the portion size you get a chinooks and not better. 2. We were charged 3.49 for Soda water that comes from the fountain...no other sparkling water available on the menu. I should have just ordered water. Dropped $40 for lunch for 2 and left hungry. read more

This place is a clear example why Yelp needs to have a zero stars option. How is this place still in business? Never have I read so many awful reviews that have gone on and on for years and always with the same complaints that never seem to get fixed. What is going on over there? This is not a fine dinning experience that people expect when they come here (they go to the restaurant upstairs for that). People are coming here for the basics which you guys seem to consistently mess up. It is really pretty simple; try not to burn the burgers, try and fill the cups of chowder all the way to the top, don't glop mayo all over the BLT, don't use wilted lettuce, season your food with the right amount of salt and pepper, make sure the drinks are cold, make sure what is supposed to be hot comes out hot, get all the orders out at about the same time, make sure the tables and floors are not all too often a sticky mess and try to train the wait staff so that they consistently perform at least a very basic level of service. There really is no need to ask people to contact you to discuss their lousy experiences with your restaurant. They are all played out in full view on the pages of Yelp. All the info you need is right there. Instead spend your available time fixing the many things that are wrong with this place. Do I seem bitter you? Perhaps, but I am more sad. This used to be an OK place with a nice view to have a burger and a beer, but you guys have screwed me over one too many times and finally I had to write the place off. I'm shocked with the 3 star rating-had a reservations for Palisades but they weren't open till noon; checked Maggie Bluffs menu-a lot of choices to choose from-I had the Crab & artichoke sandwich with sweet potato fries-this sandwich was FANTASTIC!!!! The service was great-the view was so serene with lots of boats, the bay was just so beautiful-we will definitely be back again!!! This place used to be really good in early 2000. The burgers and happy hour used to be really good but now the food here is terrible. It's too bad too because it used to be so much better and Magnolia/Queen Anne have few options for places with a view with good food. As I work in the area, I've visited Maggie Bluffs on occasion over the past few years. I've never had a bad experience with service, which has always been top notch. For the most part, the food has been pretty great as well. A couple things, though. I can't figure out if this place is going for finer dining or pub environment. The decorum, menus, and general style all feel like a regular pub, but the price point is around 1.5x what you'd expect for similar fare elsewhere. First 70 degree day in Seattle all year and my boyfriend and I wanted to go get a casual dinner somewhere we could sit outside and enjoy the sun, with our dog. I had been to Maggie Bluffs before and had a good experience, so I was sure this was a good idea.. unfortunately after the experience we had on Sunday, I don't think we will be back. I waited at the host stand for around 10 minutes (maybe even more) before the person in line behind me (yes a line of 6+ people formed, out the door and still not one hello or "we'll be right with you" from the staff) approached a server. The server mentioned that the host was also their manager that day and that she was really busy. I was a server for many years and 100% understand being busy and most times, give wait staff the benefit of the doubt, but the service I received moments later from the MANAGER was disrespectful and out of line. She came huffing and puffing over to the host stand, obviously annoyed that she had to help us and after asking how many people were in my group (2), raised her voice and said "1 hour and 45 minute wait" - the ENTIRE restaurant was empty with less than half the tables seated outside. There were 4-5 servers standing around doing nothing, while we all waited in line. when I inquired about the empty tables she proceeded to make me feel guilty about her being "understaffed" by letting me know that she has to give her servers breaks, like I was out of line for even coming to dine there. Again, I was a server for a long time and understand better than most how it feels to be understaffed, but the lack of empathy for the customers who just wanted to enjoy the weather and a meal on their patio, was some of the most unprofessional behavior I have ever received. I would have got her name, but she wasn't wearing a name tag. She wouldn't even look me in the eye when she told me to I could "come back later". While the managers behavior was the most disrespectful, the servers on shift were also no help in greeting any of the customers standing in line. A simple "I'm so sorry we are understaffed and the wait is longer than normal" would have gone a long way. My BF and I were in no rush at all and were more than willing to sit and have a glass of wine on the patio, even if that meant waiting on food. Needless to say, I won't be back to dine here for awhile, if ever. This "manager" should not be interacting with customers, as it will just turn people away.
