Imagine spending months planning a surprise proposal, coordinating with the restaurant ahead of time, and trusting staff with one of the biggest moments of your life only for the surprise to be ruined before dinner even starts. That was our experience at Palisade. Before dinner, our server, James approached the table and loudly asked, "Is this the table that's proposing tonight?" Not once, but twice. Everyone at the table immediately tried to play it off and redirect the conversation to protect the surprise, assuming he would exercise basic social awareness and discretion. Instead, he left the table, returned a few minutes later, and announced that he had "confirmed with staff." He then proceeded once again to explain the entire proposal setup and plan directly at the table, completely destroying the surprise in real time. Months of planning. Gone in minutes. What should have been one of the happiest and most emotional moments of our lives immediately shifted into tears, an anxiety attack, and emotional devastation as we tried to hold ourselves together through the rest of the evening. What makes this even worse is that management never came to the table afterward. No acknowledgment. No accountability. No urgency. We were the ones forced to seek management out ourselves while actively processing the fact that a once-in-a-lifetime moment had just been ruined. The only reason Justin ultimately became involved was because my daughter, who flew in from Texas with her boyfriend specifically to be part of this moment, watched me completely break down at the table. As someone who manages a restaurant herself, she immediately recognized how badly the situation was being handled and went to find management herself to request a new server because nobody from leadership had stepped in on their own. To Justin's credit, he did attempt to recover the situation after that point and showed more empathy and professionalism than anyone else we encountered that evening. But the reality is that intervention only happened because my family had to advocate for us first. Then, to somehow make the situation even more inappropriate, another server, Leon, approached the table later in the evening and told us he had given Jeremy a "pep talk" and that we should "forgive him."Imagine being expected to comfort the person responsible for ruining one of the most important moments of your life. We later learned that James had only recently been promoted from food runner to server, which honestly raises even larger concerns about management judgment, training, and oversight. This was not simply one employee making a mistake, this was a complete leadership failure from beginning to end. Financial compensation was ultimately provided, but only after Justin advocated on our behalf and I reminded him that the manager who had already left for the evening had previously offered to send complimentary appetizers to the table. To be very clear, this was never requested by us. It was offered by management. And while the gesture was acknowledged, no amount of complimentary food or financial compensation restores a once-in-a-lifetime moment that was preventably ruined. You cannot recreate authentic surprise, emotion, or that exact once-in-a-lifetime memory after it's been taken away. Palisade markets itself as a place where people celebrate life's biggest milestones. If that's the case, then staff should know how to handle those moments with care, professionalism, discretion, and basic awareness. Unfortunately, Palisade failed at every level. And truthfully, there is so much more to this night that has not even been included in this review because the full story would easily be two pages long. read more

Great location - View! Pretty nice atmosphere, although a little empty for an evening during a nice weekend. Those that dine near a window will have a row of tables practically stacked on top of you. What we noticed right away is that the waiters were all wearing dirty aprons...even dirty clothes. This made us worry about the situation in the kitchen. We didn't get sick, so that's a plus. The crab cake was not good, just mushy. The Salmon was good, but the vegetable medley on the plate was way overcooked. The Sea bass was covered in butter and had no real flavor. Food - We came for restaurant week, so we both started off with the clam chowder. Good portion and delicious. They gave us bread & butter to start, so I actually dipped some bread into the clam chowder which made it kinda nicer. I had the sirloin. Don't judge but I like my steak well done. I actually asked for med-well because I get embarrassed asking for well done, but it actually came well done. The potatoes were really good, but the asparagus was just ok. For dessert I had the creme brulee. The sugar topping was kind of thick which made the whole dessert really sweet. It was nice that it had fruit on top because that helped cut into the sweetness. I tried a bite of my husband's key lime pie, but I don't really like key lime anyways so it was not for me. Service - Excellent. Our waiter was very attentive and friendly. He even mentioned the smoker for the drinks wasn't working well so he could still bring the smokey drink, but it might not live up to expectations. Totally appreciate that! They also boxed up our food for us at the end of the night. Ambiance - upscale. Good for fancy dates and big occasions. Tons of large parties when we went. The location is beautiful! We came here last night to celebrate my birthday. What a mistake. Both service and food were not good. I made a reservation here which they called to confirm. I put in both the reservation notes and also told them when they called that we needed a high chair for my toddler. When we got to the table there wasn't one and the hostess seemed annoyed when I told her we needed one and said she would see if they had one. Service was insanely slow from the beginning to the end. It took forever to put in our orders and food was slow to arrive. I finally asked after having been there for close to an hour and a half where the kids meals were for the 2 kids in the party and they said would rush them out because they hadn't put for them to come out earlier. The kids were starving at that point. It should be common sense to bring out the food for kids earlier. We got the seafood tower which wasn't good. It was supposed to be for 2 but came with half of a lobster tail, 2 shrimp, some poke, 1 crab leg, and 2 oysters and mussels. For the price, the portion was very small and nothing was remarkable. We also got the yellowfin sushi roll which was fine but didn't have much flavor. I got the Caesar and wasn't a fan. The dressing was watery and I didn't like the peppery dressing they also put on it. The rest of the table got the apple Gorgonzola salad and said the dressing was overly sweet. The entrees came out at the almost 2 hour mark which was ridiculously slow given that the restaurant was maybe half full. The food was fine but lacked flavor. The crab cake we added on wasn't crispy at all and was kind of mushy. Desserts also weren't great. My brother in law ordered an affogato and was served a gravy boat full of espresso and a massive bowl of ice cream, which is not at all how it should come. For a fine dining restaurant, nothing was well executed. He also had ordered a Coke and only got one refill despite being there for almost 3 hours. We had to ask for the refill too and the waitress seemed annoyed for us asking. Definitely stay far away from here. Dinner was around $900 for 4 adults and 2 kids and was absolutely not worth it. When submitting the reservation online, I noted that it was their 50th wedding anniversary and that we'd prefer a table by the window if possible. I later called and verbally confirmed the reservation and reiterated it was their 50th wedding anniversary. One of the reasons I booked here was because of what they supposedly do for anniversaries. When we arrived, I noted that we were ok waiting if it meant a table by the window. We were seated shortly after and did score a great table. Our server seemed to think we were a different reservation, commenting "Welcome back!" when it was our first time there. The menu is on the simple side. This a basic fancy seafood and steak restaurant. This isn't where you'll find a new twist on something classic, a fancy foam, etc. The cocktails we had were great. The seafood was definitely fresh. But all of our entrees were overcooked. Since I had the salmon, I didn't mind (I actually like it cooked a little longer). But for a wagyu steak? Not ok - especially when it was ordered medium rare and delivered well done. The server and manager, however, were incredibly nice about it. Everything was wonderfully taken care of - above and beyond. But there was something with the kitchen and/or timing going on. Everything was good and tasty. I love coming here for Seattle Restaurant Week for the good food and value. The 3 course comes with delicious New England Clam Chowder or Caesar Salad, but I always get the chowder, always. For entrees, we got the Prime Rib, Shellfish Linguine and my favorite, the Sake Marinated Black Cod, which comes with a shrimp cake, shiitake mushrooms, zucchini ribbons with coconut lemon grass curry. We all enjoyed our meals. Dessert options included Key Lime Pie or Creme Brulee. Hubby wanted the Chocolate Turtle Cake from the dessert menu, which we ordered instead for an additional charge. This is definitely a place we visit when we're looking for a nice meal out or celebrating a special occasion. The food is always tasty, but the service can be spotty with food sequencing and being served luke-warm coffee. Once addressed, it was quickly remedied. We ate at Palisade on Thanksgiving, but most of the dishes we ordered are also on their regular menu. The restaurant location is slightly off the beaten path, tucked away near the marina in Magnolia. It is right on the water and the view of West Seattle, Downtown and the marina is great. We even saw an otter and some different sea birds while dining! The restaurant is well decorated and feels slightly upscale to some other seafood restaurants in town, so this is a great option for special occasions or nights where you want something slightly more polished that a casual sit down. The service was great and even on a busy holiday day the staff was attentive and was always on top of refilling our waters or checking in on us. They were also very timely with bringing out the next course soon after we finished the other. For the food, the crab dip is a must get! It was the favorite thing we tried. The lobster bisque was also delicious. I had the seafood trip while my husband had the surf and turf. The seafood trio was okay. The crab cake was good, but the salmon and shrimp were a little underwhelming. The filet my husband had though was delicious and cooked perfectly and both dishes came with delicious mashed potatoes and vegetables. Food was the most delicious food I've ever had. The Caesar salad comes in cheese wafer bowl, which adds additional flavor. The crab dip with the bread has the perfectly subtle crab flavor within the creamy dip. The Cod is absolutely fantastic. It has crunchy crab cake bit below the cod, which gives it a unique texture. Lobster ressotto is also great, and pairs with every menu item. Service was great too. Just the right amount of check-ins during a dinner. Highly recommend when celebrating a special occasion. Ambiance was great too. The view of the yacht club is spectacular, and mixed with the live music they sometimes have is to kill for. I really loved the layout of the whole place, it made me and my partner so great, we had a view of the water and it was night time so it was very pretty. The servers were super attentive and some were bilingual which was a fun surprise, you definitely pay for your experience in this restaurant and it was worth every penny of ours. We actually came here when her mother was visiting and we stopped for the Mother's Day brunch. The service and food then were wonderful and we were hoping it would be the same this time. Brian was our waiter and introduced the daily specials. I opted for clam chowder and my wife had a small tossed salad. Both were delicious. For the main entrées, my wife elected to have a pasta dish and I went with the halibut. Both were done to perfection. The dining room provided amazing ambience, and the view out. The service was good but we did have one incident where the bus boy had moved some cutlery on the table with his hands (on the knife itself and not the handle) and rather than grabbing a new one, he just wiped it thinking we wouldn't notice it but unfortunately, my dad caught him doing this and had to ask our server to switch out the knife. Other than that, our server was very accommodating and always made sure to check in on us for our coffee and water refills. Since it was a holiday; they had specific brunch menus set up for ordering courses. I ended up going with the three course with Clam Chowder, Prime Rib, and Crème Brûlée to end the meal. To wash it all down, just a nice cup of coffee. The coffee was great with no cream or sugar and I found myself drinking multiple cups of it. The Clam Chowder was texturally there but was missing a bit of seasoning so we opted for cracking some black pepper into it. The Prime Rib, while I appreciate that they gave me Rare, was very much lacking any sort of flavor. The juices felt very watery and even crust of it all was very bland. The sauce saved it a bit but it honestly made me wish I had ordered something else. The best part of the meal was the delicious Crème Brûlée; its top layer was scrumptious and your mouth was met with multiple textures and flavor. The creamy interior was to die for and would be something I would comeback to if this restaurant wasn't so far. I ordered the black cod. My boyfriend ordered the halibut and my dad ordered the miso salmon. First the plating was shockingly un appetizing. It was messy. It looked like a plate of food that I gathered from a buffet I expected a pan seared piece of fish seasoned through, but my fish was bland, although it was cooked well. The plate of lobster risotto was just mushy with no flavor. My boyfriend's halibut also came out with no skin just a fillet of fish meat under seasoned. The miso salmon was plated nicely, but had no flavor. The best dish was the crab and shrimp bucatini. Crabcake appetizer was cold in the middle. Service was good, but very choppy. Went to Palisade on the recommendation of a friend who recently moved to Seattle, and it was a pretty mixed experience overall. The seafood pasta was solid and the view of the marina was nice, which are probably the main reasons to visit. However, the crab legs were extremely overpriced for what you get - definitely not worth the money and the quality was disappointing. Our waiter was super aloof throughout the meal, which really affected the dining experience. Good service can elevate a meal, and unfortunately the lack of attention made everything feel more mediocre. While the marina location is beautiful, the whole experience felt generic. Despite being waterfront dining in Seattle, it didn't have that special "you can only get this here" feeling - honestly felt like I could've had the same experience at any number of places. For the price point and the hype, I expected something more unique to Seattle's dining scene. My last review of a $$$ restaurant/steak house showed how, despite the premium prices, the fancy decorations and ambiance, the hoity toity staff and a three figure bill could fail miserably and make my NO REPEAT BUISNESS LIST, not to mention the word of mouth to friends, family and co-workers. Now on the flip-side you have a place like Palisade. Now in my 30 some years living here in the PNW I've eaten here a handful of times, and in those handful of times I can tell you that each visit was a 5 star experience for me and my guests. With regards to dinner service, It is more of a special occasion kinda place for me because, well, I can't afford to eat here on the regular. But I know when I do, it is well worth the commute and cost. First off location, for one, you get a wonderful view of Elliot Bay. With the marina and yacht club right there, not to mention the city. At night with the lights, it really adds to the atmosphere. Certainly beats dentist offices and apartment buildings 'fer sure. Adding to the atmosphere, while it was busy, patrons were not crowded, so there was no squeezing between tables, butt or crotch to the back of the head kinda place, while being seated next to another table we weren't on top of each other, hearing EVERY DETAIL TO THEIR CONVERSATIONS. Noise level was just right, the murmur of people talking talking, but not sounding like you are trying to eat and have a conversation at a Seahawks game. That last place we were at was horrible in that respect. At the Palisade, our server could speak at a normal tone and volume without having to repeat or raise her voice. So the Palisade on our last visit, pros and cons: Front door staff-Greeted with a smile and a polite professionalism. She may've loved or hated her job but we would've never known it. She was doing her job and that was to check us in and make us feel welcome and not like we're keeping her from something. Pro! Support staff-One thing I noticed, the entire staff was cognizant and polite to all patrons. For me, on my way to the head, they always gave me the right of way though I tried to stay out of theirs, all smiles, all polite. Pro! Our server-She was great though out the service, very attentive, always checking in making sure everything was good, glasses filled, bread basket full. She seemed to to be covering several tables, but she was there to make sure we were satisfied and happy. And I had no doubt had there any issue with drinks or meal, either she or management would've made it right. Fortunately there were no issues. Pro! My martini-I love a good martini, the Palisades make a good dirty martini! Even with the house Vodka. I could've drank those all night. So definitely a Pro! Food-The apps were definitely tasty! We had the Belly + The Beast as well as the Crispy Escargot. So Pro there. The only "Con", and I really shouldn't put this as a con, only because I know it's all about quality vs. quantity, I just wish there could've been more for the price, ya know? Definitely $$$ portions, but they were good regardless. Octopus was firm but not rubbery with excellent flavor, pork belly, perfect amount of glaze and the crispy escargot stuffed mushroom cap was just good. Again, wish I had more because they were so good! Timing between apps and the main was spot on. Any waiting always came with an update and apologies from our server. The mains ordered included a ribeye steak, a bone-in NY strip, Chilean seabass, Beecher's mac-n-cheese, as well as lobster risotto, potato mash and asparagus. All I can say is everything was excellent. The steaks cooked perfect medium rare, I even had the bone-marrow luge added to my NY strip. I tried my son's ribeye and you can definitely tell the difference between the cuts. Wife loved the Chilean seabass and all the sides, YUM! Needless to say, we didn't finish and had to take some of it home, actually quiet a bit, but there was room for dessert. Dessert included a chocolate cake and cheesecake. And you know what goes well with a sweet dessert? After dinner coffee. Again, nothing really to say except it was really good, and the fact that we got coffee. Last place neglected to give us coffee with our dessert though we did order it. So bottom line, Palisade is text book with regards to being a premium, fine dining establishment. Went to Palisade for a birthday dinner. We were a few minutes late for our reservation but they were still able to seat us which was nice. We sat at a booth where we could both face the gorgeous view of the sound and the city. Our drink orders were taken quickly along with appetizers. Our apps order before our drinks and our main courses were ordered shortly into the apps. Our main courses arrived before we had finished the appetizers! I was expecting a leisurely meal where I could have different drinks with each course and this was not it. Our table was being cleared less than an hour after we sat down. We still ordered another drink while we were towards the end of our meal and thankfully did not feel rushed to finish it, but the meal itself felt quite rushed. Our waitress was super friendly and personable, which was great! I always worry nice restaurants will be too stuffy. The food: we ordered lobster bisque and escargot to start. The garlic butter that comes with the escargot is to die for - I would order this just to eat with the bread! The lobster bisque was also very tasty. For the mains we ordered the sake marinated black cod and the scallops & shrimp. The black cod was fantastic, perfectly buttery and melted in my mouth. The shrimp cake was also crisp and had a good balance of green onion. The downfall of the food was the scallops - they were not quite seared as expected so the texture wasn't ideal. For dessert they brought out a crème brûlée since we were celebrating a birthday which was a nice touch. The service is excellent and the staff is courteous. The only drawback is the food which was average at best. Plating and presentation was great. Flavor did not match the atmosphere, location, or view. Brunch is far from traditional. No buffet, salad bar or protein carving stations. You order appetizers and entrees off of a menu like and other visit. Only brush of brunch is a pastry and fruit bar. Desserts were wonderful. I was disappointed I did not receive a brunch experience. We drove all the way to Seattle for a Christmas Eve dinner only to be disappointed. The food here was great the last visit we had, but this time we ordered the prime rib with a medium rare temp. When the food finally arrived, it was well done. We requested to send it back and later was told they only have well done. Our server only took our order, he did not bring our food out nor did he plate the food. The chef should be fired for letting a prime rib out with this temperature. If they simply said this is all we have, before they just sent it out, then the rating would be different. Because the chef allowed this out, we are not coming back and we will definitely share our experience with our friends and family to make sure none of them waste their time and money to eat here. read more

Business travel to Seattle. I took a chance and had two dinners there during my stay. Food, service and ambiance was great. Thus the second visit. Needless to say I went back as I really enjoyed my time there. A little out of the way, but are not all the best places. Highly recommended read more

More like ~3.5 stars Came here for a company event and was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant is by the water so super pretty view. There is a huge parking lot out front so no issues finding parking in Seattle, which is not common. The lobster bisque was a little too watery, but the salad was refreshing. The lobster was amazing, but the steak was just okay. Finished the lobster, but not the meat. Service was a bit slow since our party was huge. Overall a decent experience. It is pricey, but is a nice place for a special occasion. read more

The restaurant is soo beautiful inside and has a gorgeous and large pond with fish inside. If you get a table near the window you get a really pretty view of the marina! I also love the fact that there was a live pianist who sang while we ate, she was fantastic! I wish we could have stayed and listened to her more. We ordered the crab dip, calamari, lobster bisque, and shared a sea bass. The crab dip was so good! It had soo much crab and we loved how creamy it was. Definitely would order it again. The calamari was interesting and unique, but not something I'd probably order again. There were a lot of peppers and onions, and I would have preferred more squid. The lobster bisque was super rich and creamy which I loved and had really good chunks of lobster. Definitely one of my favorite lobster bisques I have had! Last, we split the sea bass which came with risotto. This was such a tasty dish! The fish was cooked beautifully with a nice crispy char. And the risotto was well cooked as well. The service was really great because they halved the dish without us having to ask! We were expecting to half it ourselves, but they brought out the dish already halved on two plates. Overall, I would definitely come again because not only is the ambiance classy and beautiful but the food was so tasty! And the servers are really sweet! read more

We made a reservation for our anniversary for 5pm on a Sunday. It was pretty bare in there and they didn't have our table ready for about 10 minutes. Once we got sat they then added the anniversary decor. It was a cute romantic touch but would've elevated the experience to have the table ready before seating. Ambiance was great on a warm spring evening (5/24/25). The restaurant is a little dated and heavily relies on the waterfall views and downtown. Ordered two 16oz herb crusted prime rib dinners which were mediocre but very filling. The Dungeness crab dip tasted like a tuna melt. I will say that this restaurant does give generous portions for the price. Our server was good but very overwhelmed with the amount of tables she was responsible for. It's an ok place. Take away the view and it's just an average restaurant. read more

We had a very disappointing experience at Poseidon. Earlier this week, we called to make a reservation for 7 people for a birthday celebration on Sunday, December 21, and were explicitly told the reservation was confirmed for 5:15 PM. We arrived early at 4:50 PM, only to be told that our reservation could not be found. After some investigation, the staff informed us that the reservation had been incorrectly made for December 28 instead. The host then told us they were looking for a solution and asked us to wait 10 minutes. We waited over 20 minutes, only to be told that the only option was two separate tables. When we asked if the tables could be put together so our party could sit as a group, they refused. In total, we wasted about 40 minutes waiting without a clear or workable resolution and ultimately had to leave without being seated. This was especially upsetting given that it was a birthday celebration and the mistake was not ours. Overall, the experience showed poor reservation management, lack of communication, and very little effort to accommodate a large party after an internal error. I came here on a Saturday night with my family. The place was dimly lit and crowded -- I thought the decorations and vibes felt nice. Despite being crowded, our server was very attentive. We came for the SRW and each got a 3 course meal consisting of caesar salad, clam chowder, prime rib, shellfish linguine, salmon, creme brulee, and chocolate cake. We also ordered an extra appetizer of clams! The good: All the seafood and desserts! I think Palisade specializes in seafood. The clams, salmon, and shellfish linguine were spectacular--each were cooked to our liking. The creme brulee and chocolate cake tasted amazing as well. It was the perfect way to end our meal The bad: The prime rib was not what we expected. It was dry and bland. Additionally, the clam chowder was too creamy and the caesar salad did not taste like your average caesar salad. Overall I'd give this a 3.5/5 for the ambiance and seafood, but I was disappointed with the prime rib. I'd like to try coming back during the daytime to experience the view, though! read more

We came here to celebrate a birthday, and overall it was a great experience. As we were driving in, we were a little unsure where the restaurant was, but it turned out to be right next to the marina and it's the only restaurant there, so once you spot it, it's easy. There's also plenty of parking, which was a plus. There were seven of us, and we started by ordering a bottle of wine. They brought a different year than what was listed on the menu, but the wine was good, so we decided to keep it. We also ordered two dozen oysters, but unfortunately they only had one dozen left. They were really yummy, though, and we definitely wished there were more. For dinner, three people ordered the prime rib, and it was hands down the best dish of the night, cooked perfectly and full of flavor. I ordered the crab-stuffed shrimp, which was delicious, especially with the lemon sauce that came with it and the lobster bisque was top tier. The chicken dish was on the dry side, but the sauce it came with was very flavorful and helped a bit. They also brought out a special dessert for my birthday which was really nice. Overall, a nice spot for a special occasion with decent seafood and standout prime rib. We'd definitely come back for the prime rib. read more

We just celebrated an anniversary here and it did not disappoint. First- the live music was beautiful. Atmosphere on the water with the seattle sky line and local marina sure set the tone along with the indoor river. Such a unique and special place. Brian was our waiter and he was attentive, and treated us like we were something special. He checked in with us and offered super helpful suggestions. The location is lovely and the view is definitely a draw -- especially on a nice day -- but overall the experience didn't quite live up to expectations. We ordered two medium rare steaks that came out well done, and while we tried a variety of appetizers, most were just okay. The oysters, in particular, were very small and didn't feel worth the price. Cocktails were fun and well-presented, but the food overall didn't justify the $50+ per plate cost. While the atmosphere was nice and the staff friendly, I wouldn't return for the food or drinks. Maybe I'd come back for the view on a beautiful day, but even then, there are likely better waterfront options nearby read more
