I ordered a pasta dish and specifically said no onions, and there were for sure some onions in there, enough to fill a small plate to be exact. Menu has so many options! I visited Wednesday night it wasn't too busy. Sat at the bar, there were two bar tenders working. I started with a margarita flight and was very pleased with the flavors. The menu is gigantic. You can find food of nearly any variety here, including American traditional, Italian, and even Chinese! I would most strongly recommend the American traditional dishes, such as the pot roast or the steak. All their ingredients are locally sourced and taste amazing for an extremely fair price. Portions are large so you won't go hungry, and sides are decent as well. There is an amazing bar on the first floor framed by palm tree decorations, string lights, and a model airplane suspended from the ceiling. The decorations alone are pretty awesome, and the ambiance reflects that of a homey, vintage night. If you have any problems with your food, the staff are incredibly nice and will immediately come and attempt to help you. The place has gotten quite popular over recent years, so sometimes when the restaurant is crowded service may take a while to respond, but definitely not longer than what is expected of a restaurant on a busy Friday or Saturday. I've never waited longer than half an hour to get what I ordered, and I have eaten here dozens of times in the past year. read more

I have been to Maggie McFlys a bunch. I have been to a number of them. Middlebury is by far my favorite. The food is best, the service is the best and the atmosphere is truly the best. I love the California Roll. Although the last time I went there wasn't as much crab as the first few times that I ordered it. I really like this place because of the large menu. Most would find it overwhelming but I love all of the choices. The best thing on the menu is the Chicken Costoletta and the specialty drinks they have. I've never seen a menu with so many different kinds of alcoholic drinks. It's a fun place to be on the weekends! I also like this place for the atmosphere. On the top level there's a train that circles the restaurant. Interesting, albeit outlandish interior and decent service. My dad couldn't find a beer he liked so he had to pick one he didn't hate. My coffee was abysmal, on par with what you'd get on an airplane. Both of our meals were nothing special, and the clam chowder made Campbell's Soup sound pretty good. Terrible experience today. It's a shame because Maggies is one of our favs. Was greeted by a very friendly hostess and seated upstairs. Waited patiently for 15 mins and no servers to be seen. Went back downstairs to inform hostess of our situation. Waited an additional 10 mins and still no servers. 25 mins total, no water, not even a busser, nothing at all, and our party walked out. So very disappointed. The worst part was that Maggies wasn't even all that busy at 12:30 today, and both times I went to the hostess station there were 4 staff members just hanging out. read more

Huge menu. Nice decor and liked the rock music. Food was good and plentiful but not spectacular. Deducted a star because it the place was empty but it took 10+minutes for the server to come over to the hostess station and seat us. Love-hate relationship with this place. Overall I feel like I get taken in by their large and varied menu, and by the fact that they are open late which is when I prefer to eat. But I almost always feel like I overpaid for mediocre food priced as if it is fresh and quality-prepared. Just had a "pilgrim", a thanksgiving style sandwich. But the turkey was not freshly baked (maybe on Monday for my Friday sandwich. Don't think it tasted leftover for a thanksgiving effect.) The stuffing had large chunks of hard, cold, never-cooked carrots. Who does that? If it were a $7 sandwich I would expect such mediocre quality, expecting to get what I paid for. But for $16 you can't bake a small turkey breast at start of day and sell some good turkey sandwiches? If it doesn't sell the restaurant should take the loss, not pass it off to the customer in expensive unfresh food. It's arrogant to charge like a real restaurant but sell the quality of a second-rate diner. (The small side salad was fresh enough though.) And it's not the first time I've had a similar complaint about other of their items. Usually I order delivery, but last week I and a friend stopped in. It was late and they were still open. The staff was friendly and accommodating. Management (Hannah? A very sweet very blond young woman, to describe her as I might have her name wrong) could not have been more helpful to my needs in navigating the entrance in my wheelchair. You But the food, once again, was a disappointment. She even took money off of the bill, knowing I was disappointed in the order. Why do I keep ordering from there? I do it despite the food quality, not because of it. Sigh. Expect to overpay for the quality. Go there if you will, but you've been warned. read more

An interesting looking place from the outside that I visited on the recommendation of a local. The menu is big, like Cheesecake Factory big. The idea is to be farm to table in theory where they use local ingredients from small family businesses. Had a real nice adult beverage menu and selection was very good across the board with a few pages dedicated to alcohol alone. So after reading the menu like a child bedtime story I ordered deviled eggs and paella. The eggs were ok..they still had the bite of the fridge which I guess is better then hot but I have had eggs other places and they are able to find a balance Maggie's just wasn't able to. Onto the paella...this was NOT a paella in any sense of the word. It basically was a rice with seafood sauce poured over it. They serve it in a cast iron pan which is confusing because the pan is not even hot and really does nothing for the food. The overall meal was mediocre BUT the seafood was cooked perfectly, every last bit of it was cooked exactly how it should be. That is why they got the fourth star. So shame on me for thinking I could get a good Paella in Connecticut but overall it was edible. read more

I first had it at the Buckland Mall location and it was fantastic! They even gave breadsticks with the meal. Expecting the same meal quality in Middlebury location and was disappointed. They didn't make the sauce right. Tastes like they tried to substitute something. Doesn't taste sweet like it should. Looks darker like gravy rather than the almost opaque Marsala sauce they used in Buckland Hills mall. See Buckland Hills Mall Maggie McFlys is how Middlebury location USED to taste like. I'm disappointed and I'm reminded why I, a local to Middlebury seem to go to Maggie's Middlebury location about once every six months. I've gone to Buckland Mall twice in two months. I'm giving one star because I don't have the option to give none... I had been here several times and did like the place, but my last experience was so horrible that not only will I never go back, I tell everyone I know not to go there either. The lettuce wraps were a favorite of mine and I ordered them nearly every time I went.. This past time was no different, however JUST before taking a bite I noticed little black spots on the lettuce, and yes, they were moving! There were BUGS all on the lettuce. I sent it back and the waitress offered to bring me a new one. The second plate was worse than the first... absolutely covered in bugs. Not just one or two dead ones stuck to the lettuce, but a lot of living, moving, black bugs. How they did not notice this is beyond me... it was disgusting. I told the waitress, she said she would talk to the manager... about 30 minutes later she came back to the table with the check and said they took the lettuce wraps off of the bill. I was not given the menu to choose something else, it was just assumed that we were finished. They did not give us a complementary meal... nothing. I was supposed to be happy that I was not paying for food I couldn't eat because it was covered with bugs? I don't think so... In summary: The food had bugs on it.. gross. The waitstaff (and the manager) were indifferent, if not rude. The food, atmosphere, etc. at this place are just not impressive enough to warrant me giving it another shot. read more

The menu is pretty diverse and the portions are adequate, but the quality is continuously underwhelming. On my last visit I decided to try the pizza as I had read so many positive reviews. Truth be told I'd rather go to Pizza Hut or buy a frozen pizza! I can't believe I actually forced myself to eat a tasteless abomination. On my previous visit my french dip was less than acceptable. My mushrooms were slimy, the bread almost soggy, and the cheese a bit tough, as if the dish had been sitting out for too long. I hate going places and sending the food back, but at this place it's almost like a pre-requisite. Unfortunately, I have sent back food on multiple occasions; still, waitstaff was nothing but helpful, apologetic, and kind. Although hostesses and waiters have provided exemplary service, I feel as if something must be going on in the kitchen and upper management for these problems to be reoccurring. Most of all, the prices are absolutely outrageous! What really got to me was paying $7 for a small slice of cake. Maggie McFly's probably paid less than that for the entire cake. I'm done giving this place chances. I can get higher quality food and larger portions for less almost anywhere else. I'll be taking my business elsewhere from now on. read more

This Maggie's is our usual meet-up spot as a nice halfway point when getting a meal with my college roommates! This time (Friday 8/7 at 12pm), it was just two of us, we were able to sit outside in the beautiful weather but still under an umbrella, and everything was satisfactory. I avoid gluten because I've got an intolerance, and my friend avoids it for medical reasons, so it was a nice surprise to see they had gluten free options available! We both got sandwiches on gf rolls, a soda, and no dessert, and lunch came to something around $32. The Manager came around to every table and checked on the patrons, and our waitress was attentive, which was nice. read more

I usually love coming to Maggie's, and tonight was no different. We came in at exactly 10:54 starving and kind of tired. The hostess was pretty rude about us ordering from the regular menu since they stop serving that stuff at 11, I would have understood if she asked us nicely to please order off the late night menu, but no. She made us feel guilty that we came in and was obviously annoyed that we were there looking to eat. Her twin sister was our waitress and she was no different, very inattentive and rude. She made it very clear that she was supposed to go home at 11 and we were the reason she couldn't. We finally ordered, and the food took a long time considering we were the only table ordering. My burger tasted good and everyone seemed satisfied with the way their food came out. The highlight of my experience was being surprised by the bar having Sam Adams Oktoberfest on tap! This is my favorite beer and I never expected it to be served this early in August, I was so happy! My rating would have another star if we were treated a little better by those twin girls who were working tonight. read more

I have been to Maggie McFly's in Middlebury a few times at the request of some of my friends. Normally I would not give it one star cause if I am honest the food is usually mediocre to good (2-4 stars based on the day). No, what really has made me give it one star is this restaurant blatantly disregarding the Covid-19 rules and restrictions governor Lamont recently imposed. Having gone today to eat with my friends I noted how the entire restaurant was way beyond the new 50% capacity limit that started recently. In fact every single table was full and used! Yes you heard that right every single table. This is absolutely insane and it is no wonder cases are rising in this state. I only stayed hesitantly due to my friends insisting but from now on I absolutely refuse to eat there until they actually start caring about the health and well being of not just the customers but also their servers. read more

I've been here a couple times in the past week. This is my fav Maggie's location b/c of the decorations and the balcony seating which enables you to look down into the bar. Service was friendly both times, letting our parties take our own sweet times. The chicken walnut salad was great as was the "skewer" salad with chicken. This is just your average middle America family restaurant. Basically its a TGIFriday's, Applebee's or Chili's without being a nationwide chain. It basically has the same exact menu as all the above at more or less the same prices. Visited Maggie's in Middlebury today. Their service is really subpar compared to what we have experienced in the one in Southberry. Had to wait a long time for food to arrive. Were promised some bread sticks. They didn't arrive until the main course came. The waiter was clueless. Apparently they have no bottled water either. I ordered red snapper with green beans and brown rice. Also ordered a side of asparagus. Arrived red snapper with 5 pieces of asparagus and a half cup of rice. Apparently waiter misunderstood me about the asparagus being in addition to the meal. I asked whether I would get as much asparagus if it were a side dish , he said yes. What about rice? Do you feel this is a normal (non-kid) portion of rice? Yes. Could you still bring me green beans and extra rice please? Sure. Arrives in 5 minutes with just the green beans. A lot of them. So I'm thinking should I have gotten more asparagus too? Is my rice coming? Ohh, you wanted some rice too? Seriously? Yes. 5 minutes later arrives with a plate full of rice. I mean FULL of rice- 3 times more than original portion. After we finished our main meal the waiter just asked if we wanted check. We had to ask him for a desert menu. OK! One of the worst restaurant's ever, after ordering a hamburger twice they still could not get it right!!! The last I checked Medium Well did not drip burger blood when you took a bite. Even though though three times is the charm I could not go a third round for a burger, my waitstaff offered to remove the burger from the bill...Thanks!! On the menu it is a burger and fries, since I was starving and ate my cold, greasy fries to my surprise I was charged for a side of fries minus the burger!!! Who does that??? Maggies! Went here on a Thursday night with co-workers. It's a cute place with a HUGE menu. Seriously, if you can think of it, it's probably on the menu. I had the poke appetizer and a Moscow Mule. The drink was okay, a little too "sour-mixy" and not very strong, but the appetizer was great! Fresh tuna, wasabi drizzle, soy sauce, avocado, cabbage, a wonton base. It was delicious! All of the plates they brought out were ginormous. If you're going for a drink, probably head somewhere else but the food was good! read more

We ordered from the catering menu for my Dad's 75th bday. So glad we did. We had the pot roast (mashed potatoes), chicken marsala(pasta with it), cavatelli with sausage and the chicken lettuce wraps (fixings and dipping sauces). Everything arrived at the time we requested, with plenty of plates, napkins, utensils and serving tools. Food was still warm when it got here, except the wraps which are meant to be cold. We had 14 people celebrating at our home and there was plenty of food with leftovers for guests to take some home. Everything was delicious! Made my day stress free and I got to enjoy my guests and not worry about the food! read more

Menu is HUGE! I always say I'm gonna try something new but always go to the same thing! Their spinach artichoke dip is excellent. The best part is they give you a whole platter to dip from including veggies, bread, and home chips. Their Thai lettuce wraps are another one of my favs. I always order their Cobb salad. It's HUGE!
