I was really excited to try Maggies! I'm a big breakfast person, a good Joe's Special is always what I'm looking for. This one is great, a little on the salty side, but the flavor tantalised my tongue. The grits were a bit bland and a huge portion. The food gets a 4 but the service gets a negative 4, thus the score of 1. We were instructed to sit down at a table of which there was only 1 and it just needed a wipe down after the last customer. The young waitress came over and flicked the food off of the table with her finger. I had to ask her to wipe the table off. It took a good 10 minutes for her to come back wipe it down, set the table with dirty silverware, and take our Order, Joes Special and a waffle with sausage links. I was born and raised in Vallejo. This is only the 3rd time I've been to Maggie's. It's awful. The service is terrible, the food is terrible and the restaurant itself is dirty. I really hate to say these things. But what I witnessed isn't worthy of any stars at all. The waitress was cooking, she brought me other people's food, (picked it up and found whom it belonged to) the wait/cook staff were talking to people as they cooked, trying to get their orders right. After eating here for so long, being a regular customer for a bit now, and giving great reviews, today I was so very disappointed when I ordered a Tuna sandwich and it was so strong I couldn't eat it and the (what they call) salad was giant chunks of lettuce with a couple very thin slices of tomato and fat pieces of Onion, THAT WAS ALL!! The most disappointing part was what they said was Ranch dressing, was only Mayonnaise with some dried Parsley in it. I'm a c pop and my taste buds are exceptional. I LOVE their burgers but will NEVER EVER eat their Tuna or Salad again. This ruined my whole day and not sure I'll be back for a long time, if at all. We've been going here since I moved to Vallejo in 2010, and have always loved it. Marlene the new owner has improved on an already great menu! My husband got the pancakes and they were soooo light and fluffy, and lightly crispy on the outside, truly amazing. I got the breakfast burrito with avocado and sour cream. Same thing, lightly crispy on the outside, super fluffy goodness on the inside. The food, and the people are why we keep coming back. We always feel at home here. I actually didn't think it was really open, and didn't know anyone who ate there before. I've been missing out! Today, in an effort to try something new, I headed over to Maggie's because I've been starting to hear some buzz. DELICIOUS FOOD!!!! We had grits, pancakes, eggs, wings, potatoes, and some tasty tea. The pancakes are huge and thin....I actually can't stand a thick pancake. These were so tasty and just like my grandma used to make :) I also had a NY steak, and this was the only thing that was just okay...kinda too thin to be considered a legit NY steak lol but it was tasty just the same. Haven't been here in over 30 years and I'm not disappointed my dad also loved it, nothing was greasy that included the fries, loved that they weren't frozen like other hamburger places. My Honey and I both got California burritos - my Honey doesn't eat pork so he got chicken apple sausage instead ($2.50 upcharge). They were delicious!! Filled to the brim, great flavor, the salsa on the side made it even better. Cherry on top was when my Honey came back to the car and said how nice all the service people were! Loved the decor. We sat at the bar and watched the cook prepare our good food. He was so precise with his work it was amazing. I have been in his shoes being s chef for 40 years I have spent my time at the grill. But this guy just blew my mind. Cooking a omelette rolling it slicing avocado and onion putting on top then placing a lid over it and giving the grill a squirt of water all just got warm up the toppings. Was ignored for more than 5 min when first entering this tiny crowded place. Then stayed over 75 min for one burger and hot dog. No forewarning when placing the order. Zero explanation during the first half of the forever long wait. Hot dog's width is not much more than my two fingers combined. Burger about the size of a palm and sticks nastily to the wrapping paper. The only generous aspect is that probably more than two onions were used for the order. Should have spent the 14 bucks at a chain and get a better deal and more effective service. What a waste of a weekend morning. read more

Had the California breakfast burrito today with Swiss instead of jack cheese, added spinach and mushrooms and it was seriously the best I've had in a long time! The tortilla was nice and griddled to perfection, and the fillings were also, fluffy eggs and hash browns and sautéed mushrooms went great with the crispy bacon and melted cheese! from the outside it looks a little questionable but the waitress that my mom and i had (i didn't get her name and i'm so mad about it) was absolutely amazing, super sweet, very attentive and REALLY quick service, food is beyond compliment, i had the grilled chicken sandwich and fries, chicken is juicy and the veggies were fresh and crisp, the fries were a perfect mixture of soft and crispy crunchy, my mom had the california omelet with mushrooms and salsa, the salsa is super fresh and just the perfect amount of spice. the inside is really cute, very diner like with old posters and signs, over all 10/10 please come and support them! read more

This is probably my favorite breakfast place in town. It has the look and feel of a comfortable cozy downtown diner right in the old the neighborhood. Today was my first day coming into Maggie's Restaurant and was overall highly satisfied with my food and service. I highly recommend the chicken fried steak breakfast. This place has a traditional diner experience with inexpensive food menu. The reason for four stars and not five is that there is not a big variety of food items on the menu and the place is generally small (seats under 25). This diner is also in the heart of Vallejo where you have to lock your car doors and be aware of your surroundings. I would recommend this place to others who are looking for a traditional breakfast and are avoiding high populated areas. I will come back again. read more
