There seems to be a constant line wrapping around this place however the ice cream was nonetheless a disappointment. Many of the flavors were excessively dyed leaving patrons' mouths painted the colors of the rainbow. Also, the texture of the ice cream was very inconsistent. Portions of it were creamy and other bits frosted leaving an unpleasant icy crunch. read more

I went to go try this ice cream place because it had so many rave reviews, but I didn't even get any ice cream because the lady behind the counter was so extremely rude. She yelled at me and my friends because we didn't know what we wanted because there are SO MANY different flavors. That was extremely rude and disgusting of her to do that to a handful of customers. My friends and i took a trip out this weekend and two nights in a row we came to this ice cream place. Cones and cups and scoops and scoops of ice cream, the whole crew was happy with their desserts! However, it seems that everyone who got the bright blue Cookie Monster flavor had a peculiar issue a few hours later. Excuse my French... but GREEN STOOL!!! BRIGHT GREEN POOP!!! The amount of blue food coloring in the ice cream flavored resulted in GREEN POOPS THAT KEPT ON COMING!!! I didnt believe them at first quite how green but then i saw!! Crazy!!! Bright green like u would never believe. So sure give this place a try, their ice creams are very good... but beware of the green poop u will run into if u have the Cookie Monster flavor!!! read more

I love Magic Fountain! They always have many ice cream flavors and they are always coming up with new and different ones as well. My fiancé and I take a ride from Hampton Bays every once in a while and we are never disappointed. Even when there is a long line, the staff is very efficient and it moves quickly. I am partial to their chocolate chip cookie dough and chocolate fudge brownie. Their prices are very reasonable, especially for the amount of ice cream you get, and I give them a lot of credit for dealing with the summer crowds. read more

What a place! I love their selection of homemade ice cream. There is not enough room to write all of the ice cream flavors they have in their freezers. The taste is very good. Not sure if ice cream can be fresh but if it can be then this ice cream is fresh. The price is very reasonable for the size you purchase. The staff was very nice and handled my large order like professionals. This might be the best homemade ice cream I have ever had. This is not your big chain ice cream parlor. The ice cream is actually really delicious. It's an old school, Dairy Queen style place where you park in a row outside and there's standing room only inside. The chocolate raspberry truffle was yummy and had pieces of truffle in it and the s'mores had mix-ins of real marshmallows and graham crackers. Skip Sandpiper in Greenport and come here instead! This is my favorite ice cream place on the entire planet. I literally like it better than the gelato I had in Italy. The two best flavors, even though all of them are so delicious, are salted caramel and pumpkin. The fact that everything is homemade is evident in the ice cream. We have been going to Magic Fountain for ice cream for many years - always good ice cream, generous portions and friendly workers. We stopped by today - hadn't been there since the summer - and ordered a small soft vanilla cup and a soft vanilla cone. When the girl filled the cup, it was literally about half a cup of ice cream (wish I'd thought to take a picture). We'd thought she'd made a mistake and made a "kiddy" sized cup, and asked about it but she said, no, that was in fact the 3.50 sized cup. She then said that workers had both been fired and had to be "retrained" because they had been too generous in the past. At the same time another girl filled the cone, which was also a smaller portion than we've gotten in the past, but more than had been put in the cup. We said we didn't want the cup for 3.50 (we had asked about it as still holding it, and never touched it ourselves) When we paid for the cone, she also charged us for the cup we didn't take, saying we had to pay for it since she'd made it. Due to both the extreme reduction in portion size and the very unfriendly service we encountered, you have lost some longtime customers, Magic Fountain. read more

Perfect, old-fashioned ice cream shop. We actually drove 20 minutes out of our way to go to Magic Fountain because I had read such great reviews. It was completely worth it! When we got there the line was out the door, and for good reason! I sampled a few ice creams and ended up getting the one that had EVERYTHING in it! M&M, brownies, and cookie dough?! What more could you want in an ice cream? My boyfriend got the cherry rum ice cream and it was also delicious, with whole cherries and a pleasant rum flavor.
