I just LOVE Magic Fountain. So why only 2 stars? I've been coming here for decades. Never disappoints. Took the littles in tonight - line a bit out the door though moved FAST- and the servers were ON TOP of their customers! Did not wait long at all! On our drive back from a wine trail trip, I just really wanted some ice cream. I don't know the area, or where to go, and I was tired, so we just stopped at the first Starbucks we saw. Little did I know, just one block up was going to be a little ice cream shop with EXACTLY what I was looking for! So, with melting iced coffee in the cupholder we popped out of the car and into ice cream heaven. We got s'mores and butterfinger, and they are two of the best scoops of ice cream I've ever had (yes, Magic Fountain is on my top 3!). I so rarely make it that far east, but this gives a huge reason to do so. If you're going out east, add this one as a stop on your GPS to wherever it is you're going. You won't regret it. read more

HI Friends, A native to the North Fork, I have been coming to Magic Fountain literally my entire life. In recent years, I have moved over to the south side, so I don't get here nearly as often as I would like. But I needed to run some errands yesterday over in Peconic, and figured that it was worth the drive around instead of the ferries to stop in at my favorite ice cream shoppe. As always, the ice cream did not disappoint. Most, if not all, of the hard ice cream flavors are made by the amazingly talented young staff, as well as the owner when he is in town. Over the years, I have been known to enjoy a myriad of different flavors, some classics, some from the minds of the staff. I've seen Kulfi, goat cheese, coconut avocado and many other options that one would not necessary imagine when thinking of ice cream. Yesterday's trip was a short visit, so I just stuck with a caramel sundae made with their very nice soft serve vanilla. A vanilla choice, sure, but one that once again managed to hit the spot. And, as almost always happens, I ran into a few folks I know. The locals are regulars here, which to me always bodes well for a business. The Magic Fountain staff does not cater to the celeb crowd or to the tourists. Serve them, sure, but at Magic Fountain, one is as welcomed being among the few remaining potato farmers as one would if she were starring on the screens of the movie theatre across Factory Avenue from this shop. One word of caution, the parking lot can be a zoo. It is tight, and if there is anything that is happening at either the local high school or the elementary school five miles down the road, the place will be full of families enjoying ice cream and laughs. read more

Five Stars without a doubt...This might be the finest ice cream place I've ever been to. Any child whose childhood this place factors into is a lucky child indeed...if only kids would ever know how good they have it at the time, not have to wait till there old and hardened like me. I'm not even a huge ice cream guy but I rarely ever an make a visit to the North Fork without making a compulsory pit stop here. Astonishing and constantly rotating selection of innovative flavors offered along the lines of avocado, salted caramel, thai chilli & rose(this is the north fork after all). They even offer a wide selection of soft serve, which I am most partial to, many made to order. This place is The REAL DEAL the fact that it has been here for many decades only makes it more awesome. The place also looks as fantastic as it can, classic American summertime thru & thru, what a great facade. Taking a winter afternoon drive with my gf on the north fork and we came across this little gem. Small, old fashion, homemade amazingness. Wide variety of flavors. My girlfriend got banana ice cream. It actually tasted like real bananas. I got maple walnut which tasted like maple syrup with chunks of walnuts in it. They also have pints that you can buy. If your ever up on the north shore, do yourself a FLAVOR and stop here and get a treat. read more

The ice cream is amazing. They have really good, interesting special flavors, but the standout for me is the chocolate pudding pie. It does get busy, especially in the evening, but the line usually moves pretty fast. The flavors are posted outside and online, but if you want to see the ice cream itself before choosing a flavor, it's difficult when there's a line because the interior is pretty cramped. They do have detailed descriptions on their website, though, which is really helpful. They also offer several non-dairy flavors. read more

I went to go try this ice cream place because it had so many rave reviews, but I didn't even get any ice cream because the lady behind the counter was so extremely rude. She yelled at me and my friends because we didn't know what we wanted because there are SO MANY different flavors. That was extremely rude and disgusting of her to do that to a handful of customers. My friends and i took a trip out this weekend and two nights in a row we came to this ice cream place. Cones and cups and scoops and scoops of ice cream, the whole crew was happy with their desserts! However, it seems that everyone who got the bright blue Cookie Monster flavor had a peculiar issue a few hours later. Excuse my French... but GREEN STOOL!!! BRIGHT GREEN POOP!!! The amount of blue food coloring in the ice cream flavored resulted in GREEN POOPS THAT KEPT ON COMING!!! I didnt believe them at first quite how green but then i saw!! Crazy!!! Bright green like u would never believe. There seems to be a constant line wrapping around this place however the ice cream was nonetheless a disappointment. Many of the flavors were excessively dyed leaving patrons' mouths painted the colors of the rainbow. Also, the texture of the ice cream was very inconsistent. Portions of it were creamy and other bits frosted leaving an unpleasant icy crunch. read more
