I went today for the second visit for my cat. When I arrived, the assistant told me he "couldn't find" our updated rabies vaccine record. I had sent my cat's record when I visited the first time. Apparently, that record had since expired. I was unaware, but your office was aware, and they should have told me. They refused to see my cat, and I had to turn around and take her home. I received appointment reminders, but they did not mention that the updated record would be needed. And someone should have called me before I put my cat in her carrier and drove her to your location. Very poor customer service. EDIT: here is the actual text from the appointment reminder. It says to send the vaccine record "if you are a new customer." ----- If you are a new customer, or you have updated information, please send the Rabies vaccination to info@MagicPetSpa.com. This will make the check-in process much quicker. read more

This is the second time, we have used Magic Pet Spa for our terrier mix Chip. It's super easy to make an appointment here. The prices are very reasonable as well. They have done a great job both times! He looks fabulous when he leaves and they cut his hair to match the photo we showed him. Happy to have found a reliable groomer in Irvine! I am amazed how easy it was to book an appointment here! I scheduled a full grooming appointment online only 2 days in advance for my jack tzu. They only require documentation of rabies vaccine, which you can e-mail to them prior to your visit to expedite the process. We came for our 5:15 appointment, and the staff was very warm and welcoming. Everything looked new, clean, and decorated for Halloween - so cute! Ruby was our groomer and she took the time to ask us what sort of look we were going for. As new dog owners, we aren't well versed in dog grooming terminology, so she gave us some ideas - she asked if we wanted her face to look like a teddy bear, and of course we said yes! (Who wouldn't want that??) The full grooming process took about 3 hours, which was perfect timing for us to get dinner and dessert (side note: there are plenty of great dining options in that plaza!). They called us when they were done, and we were SO happy with our dog's look! The price of a full groom for our dog's size (small, 17 lbs) was $75 - cheaper than PetSmart, where we took her the first time we had her groomed. We were much happier with the job done at Magic Pet Spa! I will definitely be bringing our dog back next time she needs grooming! read more

I'm disappointed in my last visit to Magic Pet Spa. The first visit was ok, even though they were really behind on all the appointments. However, the groomer did an excellent job grooming my shih tzu puppy. The second visit was very different. When my kids dropped off our 5-month-old shih tzu, the receptionist picked my puppy up by the harness. Yes, carried my puppy like she was a bag of laundry and carried her to the back. She didn't even bother to pick her up properly. Had I been there I would have canceled the appointment on the spot. But since it was my kids dropping her off, they didn't know better. They just told me about it until later that night. When I went to pick her up, my puppy had a lot of water up her nose. She was trying for hours after we got home to get water out of her nose. I also had to re-trim her nails too because a couple of nails got missed. I don't know why the experience was so different this time. But considering everything that happened, I'm definitely hesitant to bring my shih tzu back here. My shih tzu is super sweet and very well-behaved when being groomed. Only when she gets home, I will notice her becoming sad or distant when she didn't have a good time. The reason I didn't leave a 1-star is my shih tzu did get washed well and her fur was nicely brushed out. I did bring my own shampoo and conditioner this time because she got all itchy after using their bath products last time. I am not one to leave bad reviews, especially before I have even received their services, but the guy on the phone was the rudest person ever. I told him my mobile groomer had canceled on me and he kept asking what I meant. Ok first of all, I am calling to ask for your services, not for a full on interrogation. After I explained to them at least twice what was going on, he sounded annoyed and asked me for my and my dog's information. That's when I said forget it and hung up. There's no way I'm giving this place my business, let alone letting them touch my dog if they don't know basic respect, no matter how good their groomers are. Stay away! The customer service is terrible, and echoing other reviewers - the male receptionist in particular is very rude and not qualified to work in a customer-facing role. The owner needs to reevaluate how he wants his business to be represented. My dog was here for more than 5 hours for a basic bath and cut, which usually takes 2 hours. Their excuse was "we had a very big dog" that cause delays, and didn't offer any discounts. They should manage their schedule better and not take walk ins, especially ones that will throw previously scheduled customers off track by multiple hours. I used to be a loyal customer but refuse to send my dog to a groomer with zero professionalism and is outright rude to customers. read more

I am so glad I found this new pet spa. They did a wonderful job grooming my 11 year old standard poodle. The staff was very friendly and the groomer asked exactly how I would like him styled and if he had any allergies or medical issues that she should be aware of. If I could give this place no stars I would! I took my bengal cat here for a bath and mail trim bc my vet wasn't doing baths bc of a remodeling job. I dropped my cat off at 10:30 am and they said a couple hours. When I picked him up the woman told me he hurt himself bc he was trying to climb out of a cage they had put him in and was scared of the tools she was trying to use to cut his nails. His nails were bleeding, he was shaking, and he is in pain. Our groomer was Ruby and she took the time to ask what we'd like in terms of length and style so we could agree in advance. She also explained that our dog (a Maltipoo) would need a shorter cut this first time because she was overdue and had some mattings in a few places, so I knew what to expect. Ruby did an excellent job! The full grooming services are very thorough and I got to run errands for about 2 hours while they took care of our pup. She looked great! Booking was super easy, and I was even able to reschedule twice when I had a couple of things come up. The prices are very reasonable, and they take credit cards which I really appreciate. Do not take your pet here. I brought my small dog in for a grooming. She was nervous and instead of calmly introducing herself, the groomer dragged her into the other room very aggressively. This likely hurt my dog. This made my dog's anxiety worse. The groomer allowed her to get loose. I was trying to get someone's attention to see if I could help put a collar/restraint on her, but no one acknowledged me. I just watched as my dog was loose in the grooming room. The rude receptionist then came out and said they will not be doing the service, meanwhile allowing my dog to RUN LOOSE in the waiting area. If the door had been open she could have got out and ran into the busy parking lot/street. DO NOT take your pet here. They are unprofessional and handle the dogs aggressively. read more

They wanted to see my dog records which is fine but they could have told me this before I got there and wanted to see docs when at my appt. What a waste of time. These guys are amateurs.
